Does anybody else use Power Saving Mode?
If so, do you "Turn off sync" (option when power saving mode is enabled)?
Well, here's the bug. If power saving mode turns on (as in, the battery goes below a certain %), sync will turn off (auto-sync to be exact, which can be found in Accounts & settings) which is fine.
But, let's say I plug in my phone, and my battery goes above that certain %, in the morning, I won't get my emails, or anything, because Power saving mode turned off Auto-sync like I told it to, but it doesn't turn it back on like it should. And it will stay off until you remember your phone activated Power saving mode last night (I gotta say, this isn't the first time it happens to me!).
Just throwing this out there, I've only noticed problems with Auto-sync.
Does this happen to anybody else?
Yep. Happens to me too.

this has been a bug since release, it sucks because I would use power saving mode otherwise.
Same. I used it at first, thought it was a great idea. But i never use it now just sure to this oversight.
Still there in EL29, I noticed this yesterday when I was thinking WTF my screen is really dim and no email today.
Yea. Unfortunately the power saving mode sucks on Samsung phones. I stopped using it just because of that lol

Ok guys weird problem here. I was using my blueangel today, everything fine, went to turn it off using the power button and it didnt go off. Wifi was on so i thought it was just being slow like it sometimes is to turn off when wifi is on. However, sadly no.
Now it will not turn off using the power button. If i hold the button down then it will turn the backlight on and off as usual, also if i wait for it to turn itself off then the power button will turn it back on so i cant understand.
I have tried hard reset and even reinstall firmware and still the same is happening. Anyone have any ideas it just seems really weird that the other functions of the button seem to be working but just not the power off.
Please Help.
Thanks Guys.
I had the exact same problem, and all I can say is that it is better now - it just fixed itself randomly.
My advice until then is to set the self-turn off time to the minimum value, and wait the 30secs to turn it off.
How weird.
How strange, how long did it take until it started working again. Mine hasnt sprung back in to life yet, but then it has only been a day or two. Also did you try to fix the problem with hard resets like i did or did you just leave.
Thanks for responding.
Rob.
I tried a few hard resets to no avail. At around the same time (though they started independently) I also had a problem where only a few items would actually show up on my today screen, despite being enabled. At this time I was on holiday in tunisia, phone on flight mode the whole time to save battery since I couldnt get any coverage.
When I got home to the UK, I tried to see if luton airport had a wifi network. I didnt find anything, but mysteriously my two problems had fixed themselves over the course of the flight.
Very odd. I cant think of anything that would have trigerred the self-fix.
(For the record, I dont think it was the flight mode on/off switching, as I'm pretty sure I turned that on/off a few times while the problem was still prevalent).
Again, all I can say is leave it and hope.
Yeh mine's doing this. My power button actually broke off board a few months ago but got it fixed and I thought it had come off again but the only prob is switching screen on, if I hold it the backlight goes off
Whenever I am in CWM & I let the phone sit idle, after about 15 - 20 seconds, it'll suddenly say "back button disabled." on the screen & then only the vol up/down works(power just makes the screen go off/on). At that point i'll have to do a battery pull... Yet it's only if I let it sit idle.
Is this some sort of setting that's on by default? Can it be disabled?
No idea, but it happens to me.. also happened on previous phones though so I don't think it's a problem unique to the GN.
Sometimes it happens to me while I'm navigating though not if I let the phone idle :/
Continue to cycle through the menu and it will return to normal.

I've had a similar experience with cwm. But if I just scroll back and forth a bit usually it reenables itself. You might not need to do the battery pull if you give it a few seconds.
My screen will sometimes shut off after only a few seconds, long before the set timeout, and it doesn't seem to be tied to any specific activity. I could be browsing the web, on the xda app, sometimes at a menu screen of a game, it doesn't seem to matter. When this happens, the power button brings me right back to what I was doing, not going to the lock screen. I'd say it happens 5-10 times a day. It's not that big a deal to me, more of an annoyance than anything. Anybody else experiencing this?
Me too

Bummer! I've been fortunate with my device/roms, haven't had any problems except one week my notification light would shut off while charging for long periods of time. On calks 2.8.1

I figured out what was causing it- power saving mode. I turned that off, the problem went away.
Hey guys... so I've noticed my phone acting a bit funky after the latest KitKat update. Just a bit of freezing and lagging, but my 32GB of space was also full. So I did a complete wipe and factory reset and started from scratch. At first everything was great (about a week or two). Then the past day or two I've noticed the below issues...
1. While at work, I keep the phone plugged into my computer via USB with Internet Pass-Through and WiFi turned on. I have it setup this way so I can use the computers internet and trickle charge the phone at the same time. But when I leave my desk I simply unplug my phone and it connects to my works WiFi while I'm walking around the office. I get back to my desk I plug it back in.
Problem: I've noticed lately that I'll pick up my phone and it's HOT to the touch. As well as the battery percentage is actually dropping even though it's plugged in.
2. At night when I go to sleep, using the HTC Charger and Cable that came with the phone I'll plug it in next to my bedside and let it charge.
Problem: I'll wake up in the morning, hit the power button to light up the screen and nothing happens. The Home Key and the Back Arrow (are these what everyone refers to as the "soft keys"?) are lit up but the screen will not turn on. To get the screen on, I have to HOLD the power button down, the screen then lights up with the Restart menu showing (and yes I've restarted it many times in hopes of fixing this issue) and I have to tap outside that box (on my wallpaper or wherever) and the menu will go away and my screen is back up like normal. However as soon as I tap the power button to turn off the screen (not the phone) and tap the power button again, nothing happens except the bottom keys being lit up. It's an ugly circle.
I have noticed a few times when holding the power button to bring up the screen/reset menu, sometimes the screen/reset menu will not turn on, but the home and back arrow keys on the bottom will flash a few times.
Any ideas guys? Loved this phone up until now
So after 200+ views and no comments I'd just like to add that I think I found the fix for this. I spoke with a few different HTC techs and tried multiple things before having to ship it out to them and right before doing so they had me reset what they termed the "Charging Logic"
To reset the Charging Logic
1. Power phone completely off
2. Once powered off, hold the Volume UP, Volume Down, and Power buttons for 2 minutes (my fingertips were sore afterwards LOL)
3. You should get a white background with the green HTC logo turn on/off multiple times. Almost as if it's trying to reboot...
4. After 2 minutes, let go of the buttons and let it reboot.
DONE!
Since I've done this, I've noticed my battery life extremely improved. My phone is no longer getting crazy hot, and the screen now turns on after an over-night charge!
Hope this helps others!
Does it matter what kind of charge you have on the battery when you do this? This is the first I've ever heard of resetting Charging Logic.

I'm not sure what you are asking by "what kind of charge". Could you clarify?

Does it matter what percentage your battery is at and does it work for rooted phones? Do I need to be on the stock Rom/recovery for it to work?

Sorry I'm not familiar enough with the developer side of things to tell you "it's ok" or "not".
What I can say is, the HTC tech never did ask me if my phone was fully charged or what percentage it was at. Which at the time was like 97% if I recall correctly. I am completely stock...
I would imagine this would work for rooted phones and it wouldn't matter what battery percentage but can't guarantee you...
I just wanted to come back in here and update this again. The above fix did not actually fix the phone as the problem came back again eventually. I am now on my third HTC ONE M7 and looks like I'll have to send this one back as well for the same issue.
I have a theory that it's either a problem with the OS or Light Sensor causing the screen not to turn on.
Can a mod take this thread off "fixed"
No issues with my phone but I'm wondering is there a way to turn off the led on the back button and the other square button? That's my only issue. I don't like them turning on all the time. I can live with it turning on but I was just wonderin.
If you put it in medium power saving mode it will turn those lights off for you, among other things of course. I can't find a way to do this without enabling power saving mode.
Some carriers have removed that option from the settings. If that's the case with yours, as it is with mine, you can use the app Galaxy Button Lights 2 from the Play Store to turn them off. I'm using the app and it works great.
