Accelerometer problem - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I'm having problems with my GN accelerometer. No matter what game I play the accelerometer is all over the place. For instance if I play a car racing game the car will pull to the left and just stay there. Moving my phone to the right doesn't do anything. The car just goes round and round in circles.
Have a I got a dodgy accelerometer or Is there a way I can reset the accelerometer?

Well on mine I noticed that with the recently 10c Asphalt HD, the accelerometer steering doesn't work. Basically though the game is in landscape, the accelerometer is in portrait and you have to hold the phone in portrait position to drive straight.
I was assuming it was just a software issue, perhaps an incompatibility with the game.

Ah yes, I was also playing asphalt, seems like it's working in portrait and not landscape. NFL rivals also has the problem.
That's a weird problem.

lol
on top of that, it was working for me the first few days i had it. then a few times it was working after a restart. now the restart doesnt help either.

I noticed the same issue in gta:III. It just pulls to the left.
I downloaded an accelerometer app and everything seemed normal.
Must be a software/compatibility issue.

Works fine in Snowboard game too.

Same issue with same games on the htc flyer runing honeycomb, too.
Any solutions?

Asphalt 6 does not work with accelerometer on Galaxy Nexus. Known issue.

i think its an app issue rather than the gnex.
for me, the problem is only in asphalt but its a known app issue.
gta 3 works fine for me. and also a lot of other games and apps
so i believe the apps need to be updated for ics/gnex support

Same here
I have the same problem, I have the nexus 10, and the accelerometer works randomly turning to the right (I think)
The GPS status app says that the accelerometer goes to D15 or more. But after a little stabilizes, but when I try to take a photosphere the grid on the floor starts to turn to the right and then I cannot take a photosphere...
I've already tried to calibrate but I don't see a change...
Do I have a broken accelerometer?
Note: the tablet works fine changing from portrait mode to landscape and vice-versa

Have there been any updates to address the multitouch issues?

Drives me up the wall. Sometimes it's good and sometimes it's not.
Sent from my Nexus in Texas.
Aha. Well well.
Care to elaborate?
The multitouch issue were "multitouch" becomes wonky (for lack of a better word), after periods of use. Best example: playing a game that uses multitouch. The only workaround right now is to turn the screen off and turn it back on. The software resets when screen is toggled on/off. THIS IS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM.
I believe it's still an issue. I still have the problem on 4.0.3.
Multi-touch problems? Not on my phone. First i've heard of it.

You probably just didn't notice it. I didn't know about it until i read about it. Then i tested for it. Lo and Behold i had the same issue. It's probably a non issue to some people. This happens on any version of the GalNex
You will not see it until you play a game then test for it.
I have the multi touch in the bottom corners. It's an on/off and turning screen off temporarily relieves. It hasn't been a big problem, because I don't game often but just wondering if anything is on the table yet. I know it is software so it is easily fixed. Has anybody come up with a patch for it?

Is there something in the OS that can invoke this bug to occur? I have a stock unrooted and locked bootloader GSM GN and when I had 4.0.1, I never had any of these multitouch problems on any game that I played. Now with 4.0.2, this problem keeps appearing. It's really annoying
I just tried to do same as the guy in the video.. Everything is fine at my phone...
Playing ShadowGun and Riptide GP on mine produce this issue, and turning the screen on and off works for a few seconds, then it happens again.
Waiting on a fix here too.

You guys should go here --> http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=23044 and star this as well as leave a comment. Hopefully this will help get the ball rolling. It's happening across every model of gnex. I think that it's almost impossible that google doesn't know about this yet but whatev, can't hurt.

Weird screen glitch

Every now and then my screen goes all weird like in the photo. Anyone else experience this?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I've never experienced that but if it's glitchiing like that and you capture with a screen shot it could be a defect in the gpu or a software problem, I'd suggest backing up your data and apps and doing a factory reset if the problem persists then it's time for an RMA

Anything?
Hello,
I seem to get this problem (sometimes on a more severe scale) since late. I use a rooted galaxy nexus running jelly bean.
I noticed this seems to happen (almost exclusively) when I use the google navigation app or play dead trigger (zombie shoot em up style)
during either of these activities, sometimes the whole phone glitches like so and freezes often causing me to restart the gps or the whole phone, its really annoying.
I was wondering if you had any luck with your issue

[XS]GTA Vice City - freezes (must do hard reset)

I've just installed GTA Vice City on my Xperia S and I was excited about getting to play it at last.
The bad thing is, after about 30 seconds of gameplay the game totally crashes and the only way to cut out of the game is to do a hard reset (hold power button + volume up)
I'm just wondering if anyone else has got this game on their device and came across the same problem?
And if so, have you been able to fix it?
My XS is completely stock and unrooted running the latest ICS update.
Thanks in advance if anyone could shed some light on this issue

Same here. But also the game feels a bit laggy.
It actually felt pretty good for the time it would let me use it. It's just the total crash which means I can't do anything with it.
Same here!
Sorry guys for OT, but how did you get this game? IT doesn't show on Google play
Sent from my Sony Xperia S rocking JB
It doesnt show on play store because rockstar have removed it due to the issue of it freezing or as they call it 'technical difficulties' it should be fixed soon though. Fingers xed
I heard of a bug in the game that Rockstar will solve in their next update... For source, simply google 'vice city android'
P.S. GTA III works fine for me

I can confirm IT Also crashes on CM10

WAIT A DAMN SECOND. KIDCARTER93, DIDN'T YOU SAID YOU HAVE SOLD YOUR XPERIA S? You god damn bastard.
Same here with my Xperia Acro S rooted stock...
It was smooth and good at first, but then crashes...
will wait for fix from Rockstar
Same thing here. I'm from a different phone Galaxy S Blaze 4G ( i googled the issue and came across here) It's REALLY smooth at first but then it freezes. Like, the visuals.. cause i can still here the sounds, and im driving and running people over, then i hear the cops.. it just freezes.. BTW im on CM10.
Oh and i dont have to hard reset.. just exit the game, if you're wondering.
I can run around the city but I can't drive cars it freezes as soon as I press the gas but over all this game is way better than GTA 3
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
I'm guessing this game will be working fine once it's officially released because a ton of devices are having problems running this game at the moment, even though they're on the approved list of devices to work (like our xperia s).
I've managed to get the game working on my S2 and even some people have problems with it on that phone aswell.
Hopefully Rockstar will be able to get this issue solved soon enough

[Q] Screen randomly stops responding

It usually only happens when playing a bigger game like Real Racing 3 or Heroes of Order & Chaos. The screen will stop receiving any input for a second or two, then be fine. It's happened since I was unrooted on stock, and on every ROM since after I rooted, so I'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with that. Is it a hardware problem or a security thing or what?

Then it isn't random. Your phone is either overheating to the point of forcing a reboot or running out of ram and triggering a reboot.
You mean a screen reboot? Overheating is actually probably causing it. It doesn't reboot the phone or anything, I just am unable to use the screen for a second. I'll try to keep the phone cool now.

Slow/unreliable gps lock and wonky compass

Anyone else have issues getting gps lock? It will take me several minutes with a clear view of the sky sometimes. If I'm sitting in the back seat of a car I often have to press my phone right up to the window to get a good enough view of the sky and it will lose lock if I take it away from the window.
Also, the compass is all over the place and makes things like gaps walking directions almost useless.

Are youon kitkat? If so, Pls check the 4.4.2 update thread in the general forum where we have a new stock image with fixed gps and battery. See if it applies to your case.
I've noticed the wonky compass. It will vary wildly without any rotation of the phone and, in one orienration, will flip back and forth by 180 degrees very quickly. Thought about warrantying the device, but everything else (including GPS) is solid.
I'm on 4.3.

I have to calibrate the compass occasionally but it works fine for me. GPS normally licks in 10secs or so, but I keep GPS on all the time. It only uses power when you are using an app that uses it.

ive had a compass gps issue for a good while. thought it was the rom, then thought it could have been the case....but im thinking its just happening because i get same performance from jedi's 4.4 release....so not sure what the deal is but same issues....they gave me a gps fix that tends to kinda work.....but its not tracking fluidly and the compass just isnt staying calibrated for very long...its always looking in a different direction.....
Download and install topNTP from the play store give it root access click install at the bottom select create files and reboot.
I use this app after every rom I flash and it gives me a gps lock in literally a couple of seconds even indoors.

My Note 3 doesn't lock on to GPS inside my house at all. Outside, it seems okay, most of the time.
My old HTC Dinc2 locks on without any trouble, inside or out. Not sure if I should do an exchange, since everything else works just fine.
