Congrats on your VZW Nexus device. What is your first initial impression on the phone? How does it feel in the hand? Screen? OS buttery smooth? Did you and ur bus account rep discuss a release date for the general public?

can you tell us if any of the GSM hacks don't work on the Verizon GN?

Love the phone! Honestly needs extended battery bad!
When I first got the phone had problems with my exchange email. Had to update cert on server side for it to work very odd.
I start the day off at 6 am I do use my phone a lot for work. Had to put this bad boy on the charger right after lunch 1pm. I had rezound with extend battery lasted all day!
OS is super fantastic ! Running 4.0.1. Just got Facebook update same Facebook look as iPhone (gf has iPhone)loved rezound syncing pics with Facebook.nexus does no have this feature as of yet. I'm using an app to sync them for now.
tried face unlock today! It sucked camera on front has no light so its very hard to read your face at least it was for me. Have to be in a well lit room for it to work.
Got it yesterday morning so only two days using it. To bad 4g LTE is no workie workie .

Well when I first got it I did the GSM unlock boot loader worked perfect! Oh make sure you download the right USB drivers took me a little to find the one that worked.
Next did the root worked perfect!
Next tried the GSM hack / mod for percentage battery showing increments on 1% that's when everything with south. Notification bar disappeared and a lot of fc! Good thing I did a backup!

Congrats on getting your hands on a CMDA Nexus.
Did you have any trouble buying it or getting it activated before Verizon has officially announced it? Seems like they are trying to keep this phone locked down pretty tight.

My guess is that the poor battery is due to the 4G outage. My TB battery life is usually pretty decent, but since 4G went down it's been dropping like a rock.

I've heard nothing but great things about the custom ROMs. Especially AOKP.
Now did you pay full price for a g nexus? Did you have an upgrade? I always wonder how people change their phones so frequently. Is there a secret to getting a new phone with out having to pay 500+ for one??

Wirefly. Lol if you're upgrading you can get the gnex for like $99.
i have a corporate acct so i get a boat load of discounts and upgrades are enabled every 6 months. i haven't paid more than $199 for a device since my Omnia back in 2009.
so far no issues AT ALL.
already rooted and flashed AOKP and its smooth as butter.

Welcome to the club.
I had it for a week. My thoughts.
After a year with HTC Sense (Thunderbolt), I'm finally back to vanilla android, since I'm a former Nexus One owner. Atleast this should get speedy OS updates (even if there's a slight delay compared the to GSM version).
ICS is good. As you install more and more apps, and have them running in the background, it might get laggy, but thats expected.
HOWEVER, since this has the 720p display, the text, especially in the notification bar, looks much smaller (compared to my T-Bolt), especially the '4G' icon or the clock. Not a biggie for me, but the 720p display makes the text and images look much crisper.
If you do use custom roms, i suggest you keep the radio that was installed on the phone out of the box, since i tried the 4.0.4 radios and had some signal issues with it. Went back to 4.0.2 radios, and no problems since.
I have only one thing left waiting from Samsung, a proper 3-pin car dock and a hdmi desk dock.
Unlock bootloader right as you get it. This way if you decide to root and flash custom roms then you can do it without losing any app data because you'll be able to back it up using titanium backup.

First thing I love ICS and chrome just love it. Shape and feel is so nice.
I bought a battery extender(1mm larger then the regular battery) horrible got 4 hours. I miss my bionic because of how well it connected to the network.
Nexus G has a horrible time connecting I hope they fix it just like they did the bionic. It is a bit laggy but that's a soft issue for sure Google will fix it.
It seams like its slow on purpose (my opinion)
All and all only way I'll go back to the bionic is if they dont figure out the connection issues.
Hope I helped.

For those who have an Epic 4g Touch, are you going to get the Galaxy Nexus. I have received mine yesterday and liking it so far. The only things missing are custom roms and LTE. Here is a pic
Is battery life better or the same? On the nexus.

I called Sprint and asked for a "Buy Out" on one of my lines which was due for an upgrade by the end of the year. It only cost $45 to "Buy Out" which essentially means pushing your upgrade to the current month.
Picking up a Galaxy Nexus tomorrow at the store =]
I don't see the point. It is inferior hardware-wise to the SII, and by the time LTE is in full swing here in KC, the SIII will be available. And since I already have ICS on my SII, it just seems silly to me.
Does this one actually have the NFC chip? I was a little bummed the SGS2 couldn't use google beam or wallet.

I love the design of the Nexus and the specs are pretty good, almost equal to the E4GT, but what I dont like is the high price for "less" phone. The ice cream sandwhich that comes with the phone is great as well but could do with a little less flash and a little bit more efficiency in terms of smoothness and battery life. I still want one though because i dont like the physical buttons on my phone.

I got the Galaxy Nexus because I like buying phones.. I started with the Hero, Palm Pre, Evo 4g, Epic 4g, Nexus S 4g, Photon 4g, Epic 4g Touch, 32gb iPhone 4s and now the Galaxy Nexus. I probably forgot some other high end Sprint phones but I had those too. The GNex will be chic of the Month till the S3 is released. Then this phone will serve as an excellent back up..

Speaker is not low but kinda wish it came with two like the 4s. Comes with 4.0.4 update out the box. Screen is crazy nice. The one thing that irks me is that I'm having problems with Exchange. Doesn't sync with my work email. Gonna have to do some research on that issue. Also come with $10 in Google Wallet. Won't get the other 40-50 Google money from Sprint for a couple of weeks. Probably at the after end of 14 day period..

Google beam can be used with any other android phone with an NFC chip. You can sent contacts, files, directions to a location quicker and more efficiently than bump or over bluetooth. Google wallet is still in beta so it can't be found at a lot of places, but on a few business trips to California I have seen some stores that will accept it. It sounds awesome though completely itemizes all your receipts and sync's them to you g-mail account. I was just upset when my girl friends nexus s had the technology when my brand new SGS2 didn't (sprint removed them all other variations on other carriers had this technology). I guess we found out why they removed the NFC chip, to entice people to upgrade to the Nexus

Verizon sending Galaxy S3

Well I received a call from a VZW supervisor asking how has my experience been with the Nexus. I stated that it has locked up a few times but the main thing that upsets me has been the update times. They apologize and say they can send me an S3 if I would like that. I gladly said yes. This is what she said " we are calling customers with the nexus that have been with VZW for more than 10 years because we have received many complaints. We value our customers and want to take care of you." What do you guys think about this

probably the international S3
I downgraded from an S3 to a GNexus and let me tell you, that phone is terrible. Its too big and yet it feels like cardboard ready to break at any second. The build quality was **** and the volume buttons felt like they would pop out any second. On top of that the Touchwiz that comes with is on par with low-budget LG phones. I mean the thing wouldn't stop trying to upload my photos to G+ even after i told it 50 times to stop. You can't get rid of the "Wi-Fi available" bull**** and the whole top of notification bar is ful of other retarded **** that I never used, you literally have like 1/2 of the notifications filled with useless crap. The keyboard is also modified to **** it comes with swype which has autocorrect but if you get tired of swype and go back to normal keyboard it suddenly loses its auto-correct. Overall I hated the phone and i'm glad I got the GNexus.
I feel like they may be doing this to try and get rid of nexus updates altogether by offering s3 they can just say Samsung is your problem with the nexus one it hits aosp it really shouldn't take much time to get to the end user I think Verizon is tired of supporting this phone.

Not only dose my s3 blow that thing away but so dose my E4GT. The phone just seems sluggish i hate the app set up and videos on netflix just took way to long to load. I think your biggest problem is Sprint, not the phones you have
I would have told the CSR that I'll take a phone I can unlock and do whatever I want with over one that they locked down. Tell them to call back when they're offering the developer edition, which will likely never actually see the light of day.
Have you guys tried Jellybean? Do it and then tell me you hate the Nexus...you won't. It's buttery smooth with Franco's kernel and battery life is great. I had an Epic Touch and it was a great phone, but you can't give those things away...they made millions of them and that $99 bogo special doesn't help resale. I put $100 with mine and traded for a 4s and sold it for $400. People are having problems getting $200 for the Epic. Traded another 4s for an Evo lte then for my Nexus. Lte is a good phone but feels like its gonna break in half, plus I had a 1.15 hboot. Nexus' camera isn't the greatest, but it's a phone camera remember...I would however trade my Nexus for an S3
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
well if i get the option to change my nex for an S3 id go for it, and flash cm10 (i know you guys are gonna say cm10 is not the same on the nex than on any other phone) but id jus enjoy the slighly better hardware for a bit until the next nexus(es) come out in november, then id be back in the nexus line again
If this is true its not a good sign. If they decide not to carry the next nexus I will likely be moving on. Honestly I would have told them no. To me the s3 is not really much of an upgrade. The only advantage is the processor and camera.

exactly, it's not like verizons going to bring anything groundbreaking out with the official 4.2.1 release, so really, who cares? i feel bad for the people who aren't into messing with their gnexs being stuck on 4.1.1 because verizons being a bunch of douches. as far as i'm concerned, i'm keeping this phone till it dies, and i might even buy another gnex after this one, as long as development is still rolling with it.
About two weeks ago I got mine replaced by verizon due to my phone having charging issues. I went into the store, didn't call before hand.
I had flashed back to stock before i went in. Told the girl there that it wasnt charging right and i have multiple batteries and they all do the same. she went to look up on some database if others were reporting similar issues (there were none). after giving her my phone number and 5 minutes later she said a replacement is on the way and to mail my old one back in the same box (shipping was paid for)
I was very pleased by how quick and painless it all was. She never touched or looked at my phone at all and asked hardly any questions. my phone also had a chip in the screen (about 2 cm at the bottom right, no cracks though)
the replacement phone had a sticker saying "like new" replacement but it was absolutely pristine. absolutely 100% perfect cosmetically and works great as ever (screen colors seemed better than my original one imo).
As with my luck with CNL devices, I've had nothing but problems with them from Verizon,GNex included. Hope you got a good one.
