GNex will not turn on - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Phone was plugged into the computer charging and my twitter notification tone rang. As I unlocked the phone and opened twitter, the screen froze and 5 seconds later shut off. Now after pulling the battery and letting the phone sit, it still will not turn on!!! Any ideas?
Phone was rooted with superboot, and google wallet was flashed on December 5th... I am completely out of ideas!

What happens when you plug it into the wall charger? Do you get the charging batter icon on the screen? Will it power if plugged into the AC?

No power either way... It seems its completely dead. Could it be possible the battery is doa? Find it hard to believe it could be anything else.

Power should work even if the battery doesn't

Try and call the phone. It could be a rogue app.. I installed wave launcher and it did something similar yesterday. The screen would turn on the immediately off and wouldn't turn on again. I called the phone and it turned on, then went to uninstall the app while on the call.

[Q] Phone won't boot after battey depletion

I am having troubles booting my phone after the battery depletes and the phone shuts off. My Optimus G is rooted with lifeless Rom v14 and I have TWRP recovery.
So once the phone dies, I plug it in to charge, and the phone screen automaticaly comes on and the LG logo flashes for a second, but nothing happens. The phone doesn't actually charge. If I remove the phone from the charger, the display still stays on until I hard reset it. I cannot access recovery mode or download mode for some reason. Usually when my phone dies, and I plug it in, it will flash the LG logo, keep the display on for a few seconds, and then shut down and restart and show the battery logo charging. I am not getting that this time, and I can't seem to do anything to get it operating again. There also isn't a red LED light to represent charging either. If anyone has had this issue before or knows how to fix it, I'd really appreciate the information right now.
Thanks

That actually just happened to me too
All I did was unplug the phone, hold the power button until the screen turns off, and power up the phone. I do think the phone may need to plugged in for a bit after it does before it will boot. Hope you find a solution.

I had to use LGNPST and teenybin to get anywhere. I got the program all setup and after trial and error, I fixed the problem, only to be found with another problem. Now my phone doesn't seem to want to charge. It will go to the charging screen and everything, but the red pulsing LED isn't on like it used to be, and it doesn't seem like it really is charging. on TWRP, the battery percentage doesn't even show, except until recently it started showing, and then it disapears because it has no power. Any help?!

Random brick

Hello, last night as I was sleeping, I noticed my phone randomly rebooted. Thinking it was because of a kernel issue, I ignored it. I woke up, left my house, and another reboot. Half an hour later, constant reboots; boots up, goes to the lock screen, reboots, etc. I came home today, my pc does not recognize any phone connected. When I plug into the wall, I get a red notification light for a few seconds, then the light dies. During the constant reboots, I could go into download mode, but after a few seconds, it reboots. I never was able to get past the Samsung boot logo after recovery mode. I unplugged battery and replugged, nothing.
I was on rooted Jellybam 4.2.2, Ktoonsez kernel. I cannot remember the last time I flashed anything, but it was atleast a few months.
My microsd also died a few days ago.
Life sucks; any comments?
EDIT:
on second note, I just replugged battery and quickly went to download mode, and it lit up, then died after a second or two.
For some reason, when I put in my battery, the phone turns on.. I thought it only does that if the phone was uncharged for a few moments..
Could my internal sdcard be fried?
You don't have a brick if your phone still turns on.
Check to make sure the battery is good
And also check and make sure the power button isn't stuck.....
Those have been the culprits for many "bricks" for a while now.

I switched the battery with a back up, same problem.
How do i make sure the power button isnt stuck..? It clicks when I press it.
EDIT:
I just took the phone apart and freed the power button so the display and the motherboard are laying side to side with only the display connected to the motherboard.
The phone still turns on automatically when i plug in the battery.

I think it might be the power button thats some how stuck, but I cant figure out why.
I opened the phone and everything seems fine..
I spam pressed the power button out of boredom and my galaxy booted up fine, then died again.
EDIT: wow, i kept spamming the power button and now it boots up fine..

[Q] random shutdown and wouldnt turn on! & "cheap" simple white charging icon!
before some mins i found my phone literally dead! it wouldnt turn on and it wouldnt charge (no led no nothing!). i put it in charge pressed the power button for ~15-20 sec a couple of times and it opened! any ideas why that happened? (i am on 4.1.2 v10h stock unlocked and rooted yesterday with latest version of the apps needed).
also after this (after unlocking i didnt check it before this happening so it maybe is from unlocking? or root?) when i charge it when the phone is turned off i dont see the "nice-looking" charging animation/icon but a "cheap" simple white one!
is this normal after unlocking or not? should i do something about my issues?

Charging animation is normal.... No worries...
Sent from my LG-E975 powering Stock 4.1.2
Its normal.. Big deal for an icon. You should check if the screen turns off when the phone is charging powered down. Its a problem with stock kernels/Roms when you unlock it with FreeGee
Sent from my LG Optimus G using Tapatalk
yeah i dont care for the icon if its normal thanks!
u mean the screan stays open when charging powered down OR that the phone shuts down completely when its charging powered down and it actually stops charging?
my phone powered down by itself when it was just "sleeping" i only had wifi on and the phone was untouched for ~30min. (btw i have all auto sync staff turned off) and then i couldnt turn it on (actually no life signs as i said earlier), it took a looong press of the power button and the phone being connected to the charger to make it just start charging in powered down mode! after that everything was fine!
(btw i had 70% battery before and after this happened, when i saw life signs i removed charger and opened it).
thats my biggest worry now :/
anyone have ever seen something like this? i have searched but i didnt find a solution or an answer in general!
edit: this has happened to my gf's optimus g also but it was dead for 1 hour!
bump.... i have the same exact problem too, did u find a soulution ? ??
Or some clever advise ?
nothing new from my end. also it never happened again but who knows what the future will bring...

Galaxy Nexus (bricked?) Will not turn on.

Recently, I've been in the process of rooting my Galaxy with wugs toolkit. When I got to the point of bootloader, I disconnected the USB by accident but it kept loading so I payed no mind. At first, the home screen loaded but when the screen went blank, it stayed blank (dark).
I took out the battery and placed it back in, it will not turn on at all. No bootloader, no google screen. My guess is that it's hard bricked or so.
Also, I tried to reconnect it to my computer and nothing, absolutley no notification, no beep. It dosen't even charge.
I seriously hope there can be some sort of way it can be to at least find a way to connect the Nexus to my PC.
How much charge was on the battery when all of this happened?

Around 90%
I think I may be in the same boat. Galaxy Nexus will no turn on, will not enter into fastboot/downloading mode.
I Don't even know if it's charging! I have like 15 tabs opened because I'm trying to find a way to unbrick it. Some say that this is what a hard-brick is.
A device with a softbrick can be fixed using wug's toolkit i believe.
A softbrick is one where the screen shows a yellow triangle with an android bot and a computer on either side.
A hard brick is one where the phone does not light up, no matter what.
Am I correct so far?
It sounds bricked but its weird that it happened when you were un locking your boot loader. When you hold down the volume up down keys and the power button at the same does anything happen? Hold them all down for PPP like 15 sec.

take out your battery and then connect to pc via usb. See if you get any notification for a device then

[Q] ATT LG3 Won't Turn On Completely Unresponsive

I have an ATT LG G3 yesterday it the phone suddenly won't turn on. It was on with mostly full battery and now won't turn on and is competley unresponsive. When I plug it in, no charging light comes on. Additionally I tried the hard reset by holding down power and down volume key; this gave me nothing.
Thinking that it might be a battery problem, I left it plugged in all night. But still nothing.
Any ideas?

I had the same problem and pulling the battery wasn't cutting it. This worked for me:
1. Take out the battery
2. WITH THE BATTERY OUT OF THE PHONE AND NOT PLUGGED IN, press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
What this does is it drains all the power stored in the phone and takes the power source away so the phone can fully reboot and refresh the power cycle.
3. Replace he battery and plug in the phone to the OEM LG Charger that came with the phone.
4. Let the phone charge for about 15 minutes then try to turn it on.
This worked for me but some phones are DOA being the phones are still in early production. It takes a few months before they work out all the Kinks.
I figured I'd add my two cents. I had the same issue with my D851 (T-Mobile) version. I was copying a file over my from computer and halfway through the phone shut off. I thought the screen timed out, but it wouldn't turn back on. I pulled the battery, tried holding the power button without the battery for 60 seconds, putting the battery back in, charging without the battery... nothing. The LED would never light, and the phone would never turn on. I contacted LG and it's currently on its way back to them for replacement.
I work for a wireless service provider and not only sell this phone but own one. I also had the problem and unfortunately the battery out power combo did not work for me either and swapping the battery was to no avail. I have seen one other DOA as well. I have noticed the new LG models have had some significant flaws and lemons when they've first come out but I feel the specs and price you get are worth the risk so if this does happen to you I wouldn't throw in the towel on LG quite yet. However the way LG reacts to this will speak volumes to the company's overall success in the industry.

what would happen if I tried returning my phone with root and another rom on it and it won't turn on?
I tried manually going to twrp but went to recovery instead, restarted phone and now it won't turn on. I've tried the suggestions in this thread to no avail.
Won't turn on
My LG G3 D855 first had this problem of restarting on its own when I play with its camera and while restarting, the phone is getting warmer. And now, it wont turn on. I press the power button while it is off, it tried to turn on until the LG logo screen and then it shuts down on its own and restarting non-stop until that LG logo screen and turning off again. When I plugged in a charger, it manages to turn on but only to the pass code part and then it turns off again and the battery charging screen when phone is turn off, is displayed. The battery showed was higher than the battery showed when during the pass code stage. Is it the battery problem? I haven't send the phone to be check yet, I hope its the battery..
Clearing phone
My won't turn on either. I filed an insurance claim and am getting a new one. But I have to send my old phone in. I was wondering how I can get all my info off of the old phone before I turn it in. I don't want some one to get my info that is on that phone. How do I clear it all with it not turning on. Is there a hard drive from the phone I can remove?

The plan: Put the phone into recovery and then push " power on".
The method: To get into recovery, push power and volume down together until you see "system recovery" ( it will take a while- maybe more than a minute) and touch "continue power up" by depressing the power key.

h! i have rooted my G3 and insatll TWRP it works .. but when i press volume down+power button it wont boot to recovery. ? i can easilt boot to recovery using ADB .. but how can i boot to recvery using power and voulme keys ..
http://lgg3root.com/lg-g3-root-tutorials/how-to-manually-boot-into-cwmtwrp-recovery-on-lg-g3/ Said better than I can. Be sure that you are firmly pressing both on the power and volume down keys, at the same time, don't give up- To be sure I have constant pressure, I take off the case. I do this each time I restart the phone.
