Not sure if it's just me or the phone. I'm currently running RCMix3d Runny v4.0, which I love, it's great. But I wanted to try AOSP to get a more natural feel. I installed CM7, had problems connecting to network and tons of FC's. Went back to RCMix3d, for a few days, then decided to try MIUI. Looks smooth, nice features. Tried to change some settings (turn on BT, turn on unknown sources install), phone did a Hot boot, once it came up I get constant android.process.acore FCs.
Both times installing AOSP roms I did a format data/cache/dalvik, not just installing over RCMix3d. Even tried doing format x2 on all first.
Anyone else having similar problems, or could it just be something I'm doing wrong?
Thanks

Sorry, what do you mean format system? I'm doing from CWM, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe Dalvik Cache.
Unless you meet from the boot menu, doing a factory reset (which i'll need to reroot)

No, don't do that. In CWM, go to mounts and storage. You'll see format system, run that. Then wipe data/factory reset in the main CWM screen. Then install your AOSP ROM.

Well, I'm just an idiot. So I did the system format, still had same issues with MIUI.
Noticed that the issues start right after I restore from Titanium backup. Then realized I was hitting Restore System + Apps. Which going from Sense to AOSP, doesn't work so well.
Just reinstalled and only restored Apps. Working fine now.
Thanks for the help!
Sometimes the easiest things are the ones most overlooked!!! (been there done that.....way toooo many times..lol)
Glad ya got it going!

A full wipe, in preparation to flash a new rom would consist of wiping:
data/factory reset
cache
dalvik cache
boot
system
I always wipe everything 2 or 3 times. I also flash Calkulin's Format All after wiping all of the above. That might be overkill, but it makes me feel better before I flash a rom, lol. You get a completely clean start.

What would happen if i wiped everything and rebooted? not that i wanna try it or anything just curious
My definition of a full wipe using amon RA is EVERYTHING in the wipe menu except the SD card and when I flash a different rom, I wipe everything on that list with the exception of the card itself. Technically speaking, however, the list that k2buckley posted is correct.

If you tried to boot after wiping what I mentioned, you will either hang at the splash screen or it will boot you right to fastboot (not sure really though, as I've never tried, but it wouldn't boot, for sure). Since it wipes system and boot image, there would be nothing installed for you to boot into. Btw, I would avoid trying that lol.

That's crazy. Wiping everything like that is over kill. No need to wipe data as its all the apps that uve downloaded from the market. The only ones really needed are dalvik, cache, boot, and system. And I've only ever had to do it one time then flash a rom and it works everytime plus I have all my data and apps there still

He asked what a FULL wipe was. Not if it was necessary or required. And not wiping data when going from one rom to a different one (not an update of the same rom, but to a totally different rom) has ALWAYS left me with weird issues, such as wake locks, cm Widgets on salvage mod, reboots etc.
Oh well, we all have our own methods and rituals for flashing, lol. I will stick to my methods, and everyone else can use theirs.

It may very well be overkill, however, that is my method and it has served me well and has saved me a great deal of unnecessary troubleshooting. But hey, to each his or her own, right? Take care and enjoy the rest of your night....

I'm guessing u know this but have u ever looked at ur data folder with root exployer or what ever. The app folder might have 5-6 apps in it and the app-private folder holds the apps u dl from market. So wiping it in recovery makes little sense. I've flashed plenty of different roms without wiping data and never had a problem. Plus on an upnote all ihave to do is flash the roms and gapps if needed and restart and that's it. No need to sit there for an hour restoring apps or settings

I believe you and don't have a problem with you doing it that way, however, like you, I, too, have flashed a great deal of roms and my method has also served me well. It is not wrong for me to use my method. It's just a matter of preference and nothing more.

I just sifted through the forum and couldnt find anything so is there a special thing you have to do if you want to return to Sense after CM 7 and MIUI? Or can you just flash a Sense rom?
I remember on the Fascinate we had to ODIN a stock ROM after because of MTD BLM.
No you can just flash. Well you should clear data/cache.
I normally wipe data factory
wipe cache
format system
clear davlik
clear battery
then flash.
Might be to much but thats normally what I do and Ive never had any problems.

I would definitely wipe all those, especially from an AOSP Rom to a Sense Rom
FWIW, I do the same, except I don't bother to wipe battery stats.

Make sure you return to a stock kernel as well (if you changed it). From what I have heard, sense and AOSP kernels are not compatible with each other.

I've used Cyanogen Mod for quite a while without issue. Then, last week my camera started force closing. So far as I knowing didn't change any settings or install an app that would mess with it. Haven't updated radios, etc...it just stopped. I've cleared the cache in apps settings, there is space on the card.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
clear cache and dalvik from recovery, and reboot. If that doesnt work, you will probably have to reflash the rom.

Shouldn't lose anything, as you are just clearing cache files. However, it can never hurt to do a backup first, only takes a couple minutes.
Ugh. I did a full wipe and upgraded to 7.1 (was on 7.0.2)...Camera is still FC'ing...again, it works with other apps (Vignette, Goggles) but not the stock camera. It worked just fine until two weeks ago...and then, nothing. No clue why. :/
Well, now it works...I did one more wipe and it just started working. Thanks!
Try fix permissions, worked for me

Not sure what's going on but whenever I install these I'm getting low internal storage warnings. I wipe system, data, cache, dalvik 3x on TWRP. Any Ideas? It's only happening on these 2 roms for some reason.

I ended up fixing it. For some reason just on these roms and the new TWRP i have to wipe factory data right after installing and everything works perfectly
Glad you got it fixed was having the same issue because I didn't listen with one of the steps (go figure) but after a reflash and following that works awesome now.
Hi everyone,
Coming from the og evo. Every time I did a factory wipe for a new version of Deck's ROM (fav), I would lose all my apps, data,ect... I flashed lifeless v6 wiped system and both caches in twrp then choose the recommended factory wipe in aroma. However, after reboot, I still have all my stuff. Did I miss something? Thought I would be restoring with titanium after I flashed.
A big thanks to all the devs working hard to make this phone amazin' :highfive:
Weird. It should wipe everything. What recovery are you using?

You need to do a factory wipe as well. The wipe only does
system, cache, dalvik
the second option only does system.

TWRP 3.2 I believe. Everything seems to running great. Apollo works, no fc on anything. I noticed better WiFi reception after flashing. not sure if that was included in the tweaks or not. Still not sure what happened?! Just to be clear, a factory wipe means everything goes? I guess I'll be keeping it dirty
