Reset? - HTC Wildfire S

I'm trying to reset my phone, but every time a do that it instantly after rebooting starts to restore my settings and apps aldough I uncheked the box about backinkg up my data in security settings.
What am I doing wrong?

Go quickly to Settings/Privacy as soon as you finish the setup wizard.
If backup settings is greyed out, turn it on quick, turn off restore settings, and then turn off backup settings.
Worse you might get in that timeframe is your wallpaper and wifi settings auto restored but no time for the apks and data.

Backing up in preperation of a hard reset

I am going to do a hard reset on my phone to try and get my headset buttons working again, but I want to know in advance what pains I will have to go through to get all my settings, apps, and data back afterward.
I have the free version of MyBackup, with which I have saved backup files to my SD card. After the reset do I just download this one app to reinstate my backed up data, or are there hoops to jump through first?
What other information is needed, passwords, server addresses, etc, that might need to added manually so I can even get the phone ready to download?
Your phone should be set to automatically back up certain data and settings to your microSD card, such as your bookmarks and Wi-Fi passwords.
Your phone backs up the following types of data and settings whenever there are new additions or changes:
* Text and multimedia messages
* Settings in the Messages application
* Web bookmarks
* Keyboard dictionary
* Settings in your phone that fall under these categories:
o Wireless & networks
o Sound & display
o Location
o Applications
o Date & time
o Language & keyboard - only the Locale setting
After you do a factory reset or upgrade the phone software, your phone will restart and let you restore the saved data and settings in your storage card back to your phone.
Turning automatic backup on or off
1. From the Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings.
2. Scroll down the screen, and then tap Privacy > Back up my data & settings.
3. Select or clear the Back up my data & settings check box to turn automatic backup on or off.
You can also restore apps from the Marketplace by logging into your linked Google Account and installing each one separately.
MyBackup Pro is only useful if you are rooted to backup all your apk's and data settings.

[Q] Reset does not restore Wifi and other settings

I upgraded to ICS and was getting frustrated by the frequent "wait" messages on Web browsing and other apps. So I thought I would do a reset to clean things up.
I did a Factory Data Reset from Settings. After it reinstalled, I asked it to restore the apps and settings that had been saved from Google servers.
Unfortunately, it seems to have been inconsistent in what it restored. Most apps are restored, except ones from the Amazon market (as expected). But apps do not have their settings restored (logon information, game levels, etc.). All of my WiFi settings for the various places I regularly go are lost. I though that was the point of having all of this saved to the Google server?
I am very disappointed. If so few things are restored, I might as well turn off the backup my data option and save the background processing.
Both Backup my data and Automatic restore were turned on. What went wrong? Is there any way to get these settings back?
Some apps not restored
As I look at the restore, I realize that several apps are not restored, such as Amazon Appstore, Avast antivirus and a few others that I installed from the Google Play Store.
I am not sure why most apps are restored, but not all.
This is normal for "USER" data. Even TITANIUM backup has difficulty "restoring" all your USER information.
I find that I leave the sync to Google account turned off and just use Titanium Backup and or CWM.
If you feel brave I suggest installing the CWM (Clock Work Mod) and using that for backups. It makes a snapshot image of your rom which includes all user data and apps. Just remember installing the CWM or TWRP is for the brave at heart...

startup apps

I recently did a fresh install and upon getting all apps downloaded and organized I edited startup items using es task manager. Well it must have trigger other items when I disabled specific system apps as now my data does turn on at boot. No issue right? Just turn them back on and reboot. The ones for the system items won't turn back on. Any ideas for this before I do a factory reset?

How do i restore my device settings and app data after factory resetting?

I want to factory reset my phone but in the past I have backed up my settings, app, call history, sms and such to my google drive. But after factory resetting and logging into my gmail account and setting the phone up. My settings aren't back to what they were, apps wont download automatically from the store, my messages and call history are all gone.
How do I factory reset and have all my stuff return to how they were? Is there something I need to do in the setup process?
This thread helps to force your pixel to back up things to the cloud. It's all done through the Shell. In my experience it has saved my settings, pixel launcher layout and apps installed. Once connected to a WiFi network from a clean install it should let you pick from a list of apps that you want to restore. You won't have the app data, but the settings and everything else should restore to the point of your last back up. If you want app data, that's a different story.

I pick restore phone, then I choose the option that says I don't have a phone to transfer data from. Then I pick the option that says restore from the cloud.

Wifi Settings Keep Freezing

Not entirely sure when/why this happens, but about 5 times a day, I can't change any of my wifi settings, including toggling it on/off. Then when I go into the actual settings, the entire phone freezes, and gives me "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped." And I'll have to restart my phone for everything to work again.
I've tried clearing the Storage cache, did a cache partition wipe, and reset my network settings.
The only things I haven't tried is a factory reset or deleting my Storage data as I really don't want to have to go through set up all over again.
Any help would be appreciated.
