Hey all,
Just got my Cyber Monday red DInc 2 and love it so far. Very sharp screen and the red color is also very nice.
Immediately after activating the phone, I downloaded some of my standard apps, including Google Voice. However, Google Voice would not take over my voicemail (my whole reason for using it with my DInc 1). Are there known issues with GV and the DInc 2?
In the first stage, GV verified my phone number, but when setting up voicemail, GV could not verify my number. I have fairly low cell signal in the house, and was connected to wifi. Was able to make calls normally.
Is my difficulty due to my number just being activated? Any other reason why GV set-up would not complete?
Thankyou, thankyou.

I suppose it could be the low signal strength, try setting it up when you have a better signal. I use GV on my phone, and it sets up and works perfectly, so there's definitely no compatibility issue.
I also use GV for the VM. No problems here. I'm going to guess you tried too soon after setting up the phone number?
Did you check menu /settings /call settings/ voicemail service and change to google voice?

I did try that, and when I tried to apply those settings, I was tossed back to an unsuccessful GV set up.
I'll try again tonight, and if a no-go, I will try in a better signal area.
Thanks all, for your help!

I set up gv on my Eris once and have since skipped voice mail setup..and it works just fine for me.

I've had some minor problems with GV in the past too. It always ends up working and I can't remember exactly how I got it to work, but one more setting you may need to change is phone/preferences/voicemail handler. Hope that helps
When it says retrieving voice mail settings, hit the home key and go back into the phones voice mail settings and reselect gv again, then click on the number assigned by google to your phone and things should work. I have had to do that every time i set it up on the inc2, but it works flawlessly!
This issue is resolved. After about a week and in a good reception area, I was able to set GV as the voicemail provider without issue.
Thanks for all your suggestions!
EDIT: Unfortunately, I did not test before downgrading to 2.3.3 - so this was done successfully only after flashing the .97 HBOOT RUU.

I cannot make calls but I can make calls with my EVO, but I can receive them. What is going on??????????? It worked earlier today and all of the sudden it just stopped!
I am also going through the same thing. I was able to make calls earlier today but now I can't. I do receive calls. Anyone else also experiencing this. Im using the Synergy rc1 supersonic rom. What rom are you using?
Are you getting any sort of error code when you try to call?
No just no dial tone. it hangs up after 20 seconds followed by beeps.
Seems like there are maj network errors going on. I had a ton of network busy errors, trying to make calls this week, and my buddy, with Verizon has had the same problem.
I would say this is probably a service issue. I am not rooted and the same thing is happening to me. I can receive calls, but not place calls. Just started happening this evening about 6:00ish. At least that's when I noticed it.

I think you are right. The google voice - sprint integration is the problem. I disable it and now it work perfectly. Thanks!
Yeah I had the same issue today, I called sprint and they killed the Google voice on there end and problem solved.
I don't have G voice, but still had the call problems

I am having the exact same issue, and it began sometime this last evening, about 7-9 hours ago. I have had Google Voice, but after upgrading from Hero to Evo on Wednesday, Google Voice can't locate my Sprint number to integrate it on the Evo, and so I cannot disable it, either, which prevents me from working the "easy" fix by removing it.
I did have a rooted Hero when I got GV, but I've yet to root the Evo, hoping Gingerbread keeps it running okay on stock. But this issue is persisting, and it doesn't matter to me if it's GV related or not, I don't want to have to send the device back.
I did call tech support, and did soft/hard resets and they refreshed the device and tier 2 tech resent services and it seemed fixed for 5 seconds, then went right back to the "20-sec dead air before fast busy signal" issue. I even work for Sprint and am having this issue! I've never seen anything like it, and I've been in Sales Support for a good while. I'd ideally like to use GV, but if it's gonna be like this, no thanks.
Other than disabling GV (as I cannot at the moment), any other suggestions?
P.S. - Hi, new to the forums, thanks very much for any help!!

I had this exact issue and resolution. Turn off G Voice integration, call Sprint to turn it off if you need to.
My google voice number no longer shows up on the caller id of the person I'm calling. When I text someone, it comes in as my gv number, but when I call, my sprint number shows up. My gv number is my business line and I need it to show when I call. I have searched for 2 days for a solution, and I spoke to sprint 3 times with no fix. Google customer support is non-existent, and I actually paid for my gv number. Please please please help...

Forgot to mention that this only started a few days ago, all of a sudden. I have the phone for 3 months without any problems using google voice and now this. I don't know what changed. I am on Calkulins 2.9.2 rom. It's possible it's related to Google play store being forced on us...
What do you guys think?
Dunno if I'm allowed to bump, but this is really important to me. Please help if you can.
Have you tried disabling google voice through the full website, and then following the procedure to enable it?

I did that three times over the last 4 days. It was working without any difficulties till this past Tuesday or Wednesday, not exactly sure. Don;t know if it's the rom (didnt work on latest blazer, calk's 2.9.2 or TNZ blend EL29(think that's what it's called). Been searching for a fix since. Thanks for responding...
Anyone?

If you call from the google voice app and not the phone app, what number does it show? It may be a sprint integration setting.

That is strange, somewhat impossible. I would try calling directly from the website and seeing what happens. I would say that you accidentally ported your number to google voice somehow, but it is still showing up right when you text.

I went searching on the google voice forum, there are many people with the same problem that started all of a sudden in the past week. It's obviously a big problem, although since Google has zero customer support who knows if or when they'll fix it.
Anyone having issues setting up Google voice? It says it's on but calls do not get handled correctly. They do not go to Google voice for playback and go to normal voice mail.

Yes, had the same issue. The solution was to into google voice on your computer. Choose Setttings (Gear shaped icon), there you should see your phone number as a registered phone...click the activate voicemail link and follow the instructions exactly.
Yeah. You may need to deactivate and then reactivate it. That's what I had to do.

Or change your call forwarding to your Google voice number. That's all it does really
Thanks for the help. I had gone into pc settings but it was still active. Had thought to deactivate and redo. Other option look good to. I'll give them try.
Thx to all.

I had to do this every time I installed a new rom on my old phone..
need to dial *004*1<google voice 10 digit number without 1># and hit the dial button. runs the code and makes the change.
GV is still not working for me. I deactivated and reactivated, but to no avail. Never had this issue with GNex. Any help/suggestions will be appreciated.
THANKS!!! saved my life!
That isn't only issue with google voice. If you set it to use google voice for all calls, then it adds strange random proxy numbers into your call log, rather than the number you called. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a call log.

i had this very same issue and was irked. i found out you need to
1 - go into call setting and forwarding option then make sure always forward is disabled, then the other 3 below links to your gv number.
2 - go into goolge voice setting on desktop. setting, edit mobile, show advance setting, forwarding option , activate.
PS - you might have to do step 2 before step 1. or it might not matter.
hope that helps.
Just like the title states... My note just all of a sudden last night stated giving me a bust signal any time I try to call out. Every time... Tried different roms and kernels. No avail. All incoming calls work and all data and text messages also work. I can also use VoIP but no outgoing calls... Anyone have ANY IDEAS?

Try ##72786# and see if it fixes it. Maybe they're doing something with the profiles?
Not only did that not work but it made my phone start force closing. ..haha. switched over to aTW based rom... same thing. But oddly enough if I call someone from contacts I get a busy signal. If I search Google and click a"call" link to say, a business. .. It goes right through.

what the hell is the magical hands free activation number and where have you been the last 3 days. I recently tried to port a rom from the n7100 with semi success. Sick of all the fc's i restored a backup. But my data would not work. On a whim i went through all the q and a's with data issues and low and behold i found this. this worked perfectly. :Can you explain to me what this dialer code does?
Please tell me that rom is Slim Rom...

What is sounds like, when you were doing a call out, GV was trying to call itself, and then call the number you were actually wanting to call. Google Voice without the integration can be access anytime. Basically, you call the number, then you can call number you want.
I like GV, but I don't like GV integration on the Sprint phones. When I had it on, I have to approve every single incoming call by hitting 1 (or something). Not exactly good while driving.
If you go GV through a web browser, you can disable the integration. Then it's just another app. But can still be used for voice mail. The people just have to wait for extra rings before access vm.

It re provisions your network authentication. Essentially it reactivates your phone on the network, refreshing the auth keys so your device and the network can communicate again.

Okay this is weird, I had a Galaxy S2 that I must have flashed new ROMS on at least 50 times and reinstalled all my software but this is the first time I've ever left my phone stock and now Google Voice doesn't work.
I've disabled Visual Voicemail by freezing it so it's not in the picture.
Voice is installed it's all signed in, background sync is on but when a call comes in it goes to TMobile's voice mail instead. Checked settings and voicemail is set to Google Voice.
Maybe because I never stayed on stock before I'm missing something?
Perplexed,
Kevin
try uninstalling and reinstalling it, that will probably work.

Same issue here. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling voice, but still no luck. It's not a huge deal, but still kinda annoying.
Make sure your conditional call forwarding is set to forward to googles voicemail and not tmobiles. Did you just get a new sim card by any chance? The forwarding settings are stored on the sim card and I've had ROMs that simply wouldn't save the new voicemail forwarding settings... If this is the issue then go back to stock, reprogram your sim then reflash your desired ROM. Voicemail isn't handled through the "my carrier" or "Google voice" setting, its handled through conditional call forwarding.

Try deleting app from phone. Log on to Google voice on your computer. Will give u a "deactivate" code for you to disk on your phone. Then reinstall app & run setup on phone.

If you are on T-mobile prepaid plan, you do not have conditional call forwarding so you will not be able to use GV instead of T-mo's voicemail.
Problem solved. Just manually set the forwarding numbers (when busy/unreachable/unanswered) to your Google voice phone number. If ur like me and don't remember what it is just go to Google voice app settings and scroll down. Also make sure your voicemail is set to Google voice. This is all done under call settings. Ezz pzzzy

I solved the problem by calling TMO customer service and having Visual VoiceMail removed from my account. Nasty stuff, that app. It hijacked my voice mails, so that when I accessed them through normal voice mail retrieval, I never had any new messages...they were all automatically marked as "saved." :silly:
Came here after searching... Same issue. I changed conditional call forwarding and will see if that works. Silly question, no additional charges for call forwarding?

I had this same issue. It appears that Google Voice no longer sets up the call forwarding for you. I had to go into the conditional call forwarding and it worked after that. I believe they're there for unanswered, unable to reach and unavailable and they forward after that.
I had the same issue as everyone - go through the online setup from voice.google.com again and it will give you the magic # code that will update all your call forwarding and that does it for me - in addition to the settings menu that allows google voice to handle my voicemails.
Now i see voicemails in the call log and google voice is integrated there.
dont recall the hascode - but it will contian your google voice number as the end portion - this will forward all calls (from the network side) based on the status of your phone (out of range, no answer, and rejected) - you could have them each go to a different number if you really wanted to
