Press and hold the volume up and down buttons at the same time as the power button and the phone will boot in to a bootloader and you can then use the volume buttons to select recovery mode, press the power button to confirm and this will basically reset the phone.
Please thank if this helps.
Rik.

You most likely installed an app or widget not yet compatible with ICS.

Try to get into the settings first before doing a factory. If you are quick enough you should get there via the notification bar shortcut.
Go into apps - switch to "all" - search for the launcher and delete data. That should reset your launcher.

you might be able to clear your launcher data, might be more work then its worth though

Probably can't do anything with the launcher dead.
Factory reset seems to be the only option... although there was a problem with encryption staying on across factory resets (at least the password). If that's the problem, it could result in it failing every time.
I forget the solution the Guy found in that thread. Hopefully it doesn't come down to anything intense.

Transformer - 3.2 Revolver OC/UV

Maybe try to push an alternative launcher to the phone from the market website. Install and use the alternative launcher to trouble shoot and clear data on the stock launcher.

Issues...

These are issues I have. I am running 2.3.3 OTA, unrooted.
1. Bootloop, factory reset fixed.
2. When I manage applications, if I click on an app, it reroutes me to a different one, so I often uninstall the wrong app.
3. Touch screen sometimes fails, reboot fixes.
4. Clock app disappeared, the factory reset mentioned earlier fixed it.
These just really annoy me.

Hmm. The only issues I've had are related to system apps randomly being uninstalled. It is definitely frustrating, especially when my phone app disappears.
I have had the same issues. Contacted Verizon and they sent me a x2. I really miss sense but do not miss the issues. This happened on all 4 of the inc2's Verizon sent me.
Droid 3 tomorrow if I can! 3 phones in two weeks: Inc, Inc2, Droid 3! New record!
Nvm, going for a new inc2. Also, now my google account is gone and I can't add it back. This is causing market not to open. LOL. Can you say lemon?

It sucks to hear you having all these problems. I too just got the Dinc2 coming from the original Dinc. I am having none of the issues you are having, updated latest gingerbread OTA, non-rooted. The only problem i had was a lagging touchscreen when using a certain cable charger combo, but once i switched cables everything was fine.

I'm having the same issues as well. It's annoying but better than issues I've had with other phones.
Seems to be on a phone by phone basis. Imma try Inc2 #2 lol.
Hope you have good luck. I went through 4 before I had enough.
HTC responds to me:
"Dear **** *****,
Thank you for taking the time to contact HTC, ****. We are sorry to hear about the issues you have experienced with your HTC Incredible 2 after the recent update. We will gladly assist you with this inquiry.
With regards to the clock/alarm feature missing, this is something we are aware of and we are working on a resolution. Currently, we do not have an ETA as to when this fix will be available.
With regards to the other issues you were experiencing, these are not known issues at this time. For the failure to load issue, the only thing we could offer for that is to preform the factory reset. With regards to the market app, we could suggest you clear the data from the app by going to menu>settings>applications>manage applications>all(at the top)>market>clear data. Once the data is cleared we would ask you to restart your phone and try again.
It is entirely possible that the update did not apply correctly during the setup process causing the issues you have experienced. This could be why the factory reset has corrected these issues at this time.
If you run into any of these issues again, we would suggest that you try your phone in safe mode before jumping to a factory reset. This will disable third party apps and drivers from launching when the phone is powered on. You will still be able to make and receive calls, text messages, email, and use the internet.
To put the Incredible 2 into Safe Mode, use the following steps. Be patient with these steps, you may not get it into Safe Mode on the first attempt.
With the phone powered off, remove the battery for 10-20 seconds and re-insert it.
Press the Power key on your device
When you see the white screen with "HTC" on it, press & hold Menu key until OS loads.
"Safe Mode" text will appear on the lower left of screen to advise that you are in safe mode,to get out of safe mode just restart the phone.
If the issue was not happening while the device was in safe mode, this would indicate some kind of conflict or interference from a third party application. You would need to rule them out by uninstalling the apps until you find that the phone is working normally again, and then avoid using that app or combination of apps.
We deeply regret any inconvenience this has caused you, ****. As always, we are here to answer any technical questions or concerns you may have between 6am to 1am EDST, 7 days a week for your convenience, or by phone at 1-866-449-8358.

hello brotha, you will be better off to to a hard reset and reinstall the entire ics zip, however if you want a quick fix you can likely log onto market, click in upper right hand corner and re-apply your gmail account for your a100, reboot and it should work. this is a known fix in the past couple of weeks, however, if not, let me know and i will try and help you figure it out. good luck friend!
I found that the easiest way to clean a good install was the longest to do.
- DL the newest ICS release[LEAK][ICS 4.0.3] Acer_AV041_A100_0.009.00_WW_GEN1
- Perform a Hard Reset: Lock Screen (Landscape), Power Off, Power On holding Volume +, release Power only when it vibrates, and flip Lock screen switch (Youtube can help you out but I can't post links yet. Just search Hard Reset A100 and one of the first ones is one posted by Acer themselves.)
- Now reinstall ICS using the normal method.
When I irst installed ICS without a Hard Reset I too had issues but doing the Hard reset and reinstall fixed it all. Now I am running beautifully.

I747m screen problem...please help!

Ive searched everywhere and can't seem to find anyone with a solution. Ive found a post with the same problem but no solution.
So yesterday my s3 started having problems waking up. Meaning when I lock it usually you bring up the lock screen by pressing the power button or home button. Problem is when I press either one, screen doesnt come on. The buttons do. If I tap the screen I can hear the ripple effect but the screen doesnt light up. I have to keep locking and unlocking till it finally works. Averege of about 6 tries. When I get a call most of the time the screen doesnt come on either. I can still answer since I know where the slider is. When I do turn it on everything works perfect. No flickering or any other issues. When it boots it works perfect...never fails. Just when I lock it.
I tried restoring already, thinking its a software issue...still does it. What piece of hardware could cause this? I'm stumped. Please any advice would be great.
I'm not rooted and running 4.1.1 oem rogers software.

My guess is that you have something draining all your RAM or being hard on your CPU. When you restored, did you factory reset?
You might have to backup your stuff, factory reset. Test it, if it still does it, bring it up with Rogers for a replacement. If it doesn't, reinstall your stuff until you find the culprit.
You could troubleshoot it also by uninstalling the latest apps you installed.

Like I said...Already did a factory reset. Meaning All apps were gone. Started fresh. Even without going through the first setup (setting up google account etc etc) if I lock the phone its hard to wakeup.
Phone is out of warranty so no go there....
I'm just not understanding what is causing it. I know the screen is fine...buttons are fine...everything points at a software problem. I found a post from a while back where someone was having the same problem....no solution was posted though. I even took the phone apart last night thinking a bad connection or something...disconnected the screen and reconnected it...didn't do anything.
If the screen was going bad wouldn't I have issues all the time? Once I wakeup the phone it works perfect...no flickering or anything. When it boots (which I've done like 30 times between today and yesterday) the screen has come on every single time perfectly fine. Everything tells me it's software related...but after doing a factory reset and running original firmware it seems as though it must be a hardware issue...but which component.
I know the phone wakes up when I press the buttons...I can see the menu and back buttons light up...and if I tap the screen the ripple sound is there...just the screen doesn't wake up....till I try a few more times....very frustrating.
Thanks Again for trying...if anyone has any ideas....greatly appreciated. I'll try and find original Rogers firmware and install with odin...see if that works....

Sounds indeed like software issue. I'm not so sure what would cause it on stock rogers though.
Either way, you can find the stock ROM on sammobile.com or on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1822308
You'll need Odin to flash it. (It doesn't trigger the flash counter)

I downloaded the newest firmware. 4.1.2 official rogers. Problem persists. Must be a hardware issue. Thing is what could cause this? Is it the screen...is it the gpu? I imagine if its gpu the phone is only good for parts as I imagine its part of the motherboard. Oh well...might be getting the s4 sooner then planned.

If you're down for a little test, you could try with a custom ROM.
Use the link I gave you and flash pre-rooted Rogers' ROM. From there, install TWRP (or cwm) using goomanager (from the Play Store) and flash a custom ROM as per their instructions (Don't forget the Gapps).
Before anything though, make a backup
Never know, might save you some time on that S4.

Thanks. I might try it. Dont think I have too much to lose at this point. I always try and keep my phones nice so that when I get a new one I can sell the old one for good money to help offset the cost. This really messes with that system as the phone isn't worth much now...just bought an extended battery too...was planning to keep it for at least another 6 months.

So just a quick update. For no apparent reason the phone started working fine again. It now turns on and off just fine. I'm not going to mess around with it anymore. That's really bizzare. I'll give it a couple days and will report back if it continuous to work fine or if the problem comes back. Thanks for the input.

Hello..
If your tablet is still stock, I would do a Factory Reset.. BE AWARE if you choose to do that, you will ERASE EVERYTHING on your tablet.. And it will be as stock as it was when you took it out of the box.
If your tablet is rooted, you can create a backup of whatever ROM you are currently running and either reinstall it or try a different ROM to see how your tablet acts.
I don't think doing a simple Cache/Delvik wipe will resolve anything ( If you are rooted ).. it seems like you may just be out of memory/storage which will sometimes cause a device to lag when making inputs. The only other thing I can think of is, you recently installed an app that is really hogging resources and dragging your tablet down..
Be sure to come back and post your results based on what options you attempt to resolve this.. I'm curious to know what happens.
Thanks I'll try the factory reset
:good:
So I did a factory reset and it didn't make a difference I'm gonna deselect the option to restore everything to my tablet and see if that helps

Selecting Security under settings cause Settings to force close

Is anyone having issues with security setting under personal? When I select it, the settings application force closes with Unfortunately, Settings has stopped. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Standard Verizon note 4. no root.

I had to start in safe mode to get security settings to open up for me. Not a great long term solution but it worked so I could change the unknown sources setting.
Thanks for the reply, how do you start in safe mode?
These are the instructions for the Note 3 but they work:
With the device powered off, press and hold the Power button until the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 logo appears then release.
With the logo on the screen, press and hold the Volume down button until Safe mode appears in the lower left of the screen then release.
Note This may take up to 45 seconds.
Thanks!

That kept happening to me and I finally figured out a solution! I kept having my apps reinstalled from Google and, whenever an app that I had previously used that required root access was installed, Settings would crash whenever I tried to open Security. So, it was a long process but I reinstalled only those apps that didn't need root access. Afterwards, I kept testing to make sure I could still access Security without the crash and, when something was installed that caused the crash again, I knew which app it was, uninstalled it, and all was fine again. I had to reset the phone 6 times to figure this out but all's good now!

Glad you got it working. Would you be able to tell me what app it was? I have the same problem.
I had so many apps that needed root that it just made sense to not have Google install my apps after resetting. I really can't recall specifically which one it was. What I do suggest, which will take a while but is so worth the time, is to make a list of what's on there now and only reinstall like 3 at a time and then check to make sure that everything's ok. If it is, install a couple more, etc. That way, if one screws it up, you'll know which one to uninstall rather than having to reset it all over again. At least if you do install one that needs root and, therefore, screws it up for you, you can just uninstall that one program. Good luck! Let me know how it goes. ☺
Was finally able to figure this out (for me anyway). Its my S View cover. With the cover off I have no problem getting into security put it back on and it forcecloses. I went to Best Buy and tried 2 others and they both caused the security to forceclose as well.
Was chatting with a Samsung Rep where they remotely control your phone and she came up with the conclusion that it is a bad app and wants me to do a factory reset and add the apps back 1 at a time. I will wait till I flash a ROM and do it then. I am leaning towards that it is a app. If every Note 4 with a S View cover had this issue then it would be more widely known.
I had the S cover and that wasn't the problem. Like I said, it was cos I was having Google automatically install my old apps, some of which were apps that needed root like Titanium Backup, Rom Toolbox, etc.. I was able to put Apex as my home, just not apps that needed root. Titanium is the reason I want root so much. Being able to clean up or delete apps I don't use.
Yes, i had the same problem with my s view cover. Once i took it off, i was able to go back into the security settings.

I figured out the app that was causing the issue for me. I use Nova and also TelsaUnread. I uninstalled Telsa and no more problem even with the S View cover.
