I have owned every note from 1-3. My note 3 i replaced so many parts on since it suffered a lot of dropping abuse on my end and ironically the first phone I decided to go caseless on. I am quite the android fanboy to say but I have also owned every iphone to toy around with. My note 3 died around the time the iphone 6 came out. I decided to rock a 6 plus till the note 4 came out. At first I was just totally frustrated by all of ios short comings and restrictions. Coming from a noted and highly customized note 3, it was a total pain in the ass. In the past 2-3 weeks I have however developed quite a liking toward my 6 plus, while eagerly waiting the note 4 release. I played with the note 4 several times at best buy and was about to buy one out of contract today from someone who preordered. I do not have upgrade available atm, my next upgrade would be in about 40 days or so. I could get a note 4 for 600 flat tomorrow new off contract which isn't bad considering upgrading thru sprint is 400 with activation and taxes. Now I am heavily considering if the note 4 is worth switching to. I have to admit I was not a heavy s pen user and multi window I used rarely. My 6 plus has battery life that I have never experienced on a smart phone since this one really really odd note 2 ( i had the note 2 in both colors and on 2 diff carriers)that I had that seem to last forever. My question is do you guys feel I should wait and hold out for the note edge? While I am highly attracted to the note 4, the edge is really captured me when the two phones were announced. Anyone else making the move from a 6+?
Go with the Note 4

between the 2 i would choose the note 4 as well..but i would also look at the nexus 6 that was just announced that sounds just as good minus the s-pen
First I'm based in Thailand where Samsung is number one . I pre-ordered early August. I've just been informed delivery will be Nov 30 approx. If I don't cancel I get 60 dollars discount plus wireless charger and battery back case plus Vr plus another case and free insurance re glass repair if I drop the phone. Or I can get my deposit back and get 60 dollars for inconvenience.
But that would mean I would be waiting 4/5 months from the time I ordered it. All excitement going. I have a perfectly good note 4 now. Maybe just wait till note 8. If I'm to cancel I must let them know by Oct 9. Shame I don't feel there's any really good choices other the iPhone which I don't want. So the package I'm offered to stay is worth nearly 9000 dollars in extras. Most if which I already purchased from Amazon already. Your thoughts? What would you do.
I was so looking forward I've had every note except note 5.

Ok, here's the deal.
The Answer to your question is hidden in Rumors:
If the Note 8 WILL have a 4k display with 806 ppi, then WAIT for the note 8. This wil guarante a way superior VR experience. No need to buy the Note 7 if you already do as much with your Note 4. You see, the Note 7 is still in between revolutionary technology. It's better than the Note 4, but still not there yet. If the Note 8 gets its UHD screen with 806 ppi, then this will be a meaningful upgrade. And also, after the battery incident they may pull forward the release to Summer, making the wait even less long.
But if the Note 8 won't have a 4k display and will stick with their QHD, then you may wanna get the Note 7 since it's a nice improvement all together over the note 4. The Note 8 won't have much over the Note 7. Thus making your purchase worth "not to wait".
One thing I know is that you may be waiting forever, when you get a device, any top device, in 3 or 4 months the rummors about new and improved devices appear, it is a never ending cycle, do what makes you happy now, think about your next device later
Due to a particular sale in India , Nextbit Robin is available quite cheap now
Its a long time since the phone has been released , so is the phone still worth buying ??
Please reply your review , and how does it run games like FIFA 16 etc , along with its heating and battery issues
I heard it would be getting updates regarding battery fixes
Thanks a lot and I hope you reply to help me make my decision
Battery life is not great. Unique, build and feel is great! Wish there was more roms and updates.
But 40% off of the $300 price is a good deal
With 40% discount? Take it, I had to buy one for almost 400$ (official store + EU taxes).
Now, being more serious, take this phone if you want something with screen smaller than 5.5' (Robin is 5.2'). Otherwise, compare it to LeTV's, OnePluses and Xiaomis, and then decide.
The Note 4 may have reached end of life designation, where it stops receiving updates.
The phone was announced September 4, but released globally in October. With the release of the Note 8 we likely will see an end to the monthly updates. I remember seeing a document outlining the contract between carriers and Samsung for the length of time to release updates, and it was 3 years. The Note 4 has either hit this end, or will do so in the next few months.

We could have gone on and did our own updayes if we had our bootloaders unlocked. What a shame for us ATT Note 4 users.
I'm expecting my phone to die anytime anyways, since it has been slowing down in the last couple of weeks (a clear cache / reboot couldn't fix it) and the lags keep increasing. I do hope it could last me until a couple more months or so, until I could find a viable replacement or a new release from manufacturers.
It has been a long and fun ride guys! Thanks for the memories!
When my chinese seller stops refurbishing them then I'll buy a Note 5.....lol. These chinese lot are really good; I'd go to CEX in the UK and pick up one that still has screen burns and wifi issues but this chinese seller on Ebay sells them off at the same price with none of those issues. Like he replaces the screen, reflashes it etc.

I'm a bit hesitant with the Note 5 as the battery is non-removable.. I've replaced the one on my Note 4 so I don think the ones on the Note 5s would last any longer..

Well that's poo then I'll find one that takes batteries. Purely because I have a wireless charger for my NOTE 4 so I'll find the next NOTE model up that has a battery.
Lags and crashes increased over time on my Note 4... I sent it in for repair, spent $70, and they replaced almost everything, including the camera... I have, essentially, a brand new Note 4 (I did have to re-unlock the phone).
As far as I'm concerned, the Note 4 is still faster than most mid-range phones out there on the market. I plan on using it for about another year. I'll upgrade to the Note 8 next summer when the Note 9 comes out and I can get Note 8's at a cheap price.
This Note 4 has been the best phone I've ever used thus far...
Spoke Too Soon, there's an update available today! We should assume, however, that this is one of the last of the updates coming for this phone. The countdown has begun...

Agree on the lags and crashes..also kind of agree with the Note 4 being faster than most mid-rangers in the market, though my P8 Lite 2017 feels a bit faster than my Note 4.

Not quiet sure if I'll get another Note even on a higher version as they have become quite expensive for my taste. Maybe a Note 7 FE if they come cheaper someday..
The Note 8 is great and all, but at that price, I can probably get a mid-range tablet convertible and a solid mid-range phone. Lol

The Note 4 was $850 new, so $929 isn't that much more, considering inflation, etc. And the Note 8 comes with $200+ in free goodies (wireless charger and 128g card, or 360 camera)...
Wait a while. In 8 months they'll be doing BoGo's and other incentive offers. I bought two Note 4's about a year after it was released. I paid $413 for each.

True..I bought my Note 4 a year after release and at roughly the same price you got them.
That might be the path I'll follow, but if my Note 4 gives up on me on the next 3 months, I'll just probably get a mid-ranger in the meantime, since the Note 8 will most likely still be a great device even if you get one after a year.
After a few months I have to say that you were exactly right. I just check the official update page on ATT, they stopped the monthly update since August. But I'm satisfied with 3 years support.
Note 4s are $170 ish now on eBay.
The August 2017 update isn't OTA at all. On the att website, it is displayed as the latest and probably the last update. But definitely not ota so I'd advise downloading from where ever and update like you do with previous updates......4GB SD card, button manipulation blah blah

Duracell are making batteries for the note 4. Priced at $40 on eBay
I know I might be a freak and a phone collector for the past year or so, but I just bought a brand new Note 4 for $130 I was able to bid on it and win it on ebay. It was just too good deal to pass up as I was randomly checking phones on ebay.
I used this phone for a year as a company phone back in 2016 and it impressed the hell out of me, while I was a huge Apple fan and an iphone 5S user, a that phone felt like a joke, after carrying together with the Note 4.
I quit that job, I got a new one, there is no company phone, but ever since then, I got so used to having 2 phones all the time, that I still carry 2 phones. Nostalgia yeah, but this phone kicks major a$$ even today, mid rangers in the $350-$400 still struggle to show anything better in the first half of 2018. Trust me on this, I tried several (on amazon, bought ->returned it a week later). I have tried 6-7 mid rangers already just in the last year and this, they all disappoint in one or more major areas, while I don't want flagships. My last iphone was an iphone 8 and even that was disappointing, reminded me of my 6S too much and felt like a waste of money so I sold it and from the price I started to buy droids.
Note 4s are found on eBay being sold by the Chinese for around £130 - £170 fully refurbished with Android 5. Purchased 3 in the past and worked very well. Quick update to the latest firmware I have on file which is last year's one but works very well. Bought a xi pack which is cheap so I can charge it wirelessly. The next phone maybe the note 5 which is on eBay for £315 so still new but I'll wait a year and see how much it's come down to

Uhm..Note 5 isn't much of an upgrade to the Note 4, but the Note 8 is still relatively new and it's still quite expensive.. Maybe a Note FE perhaps?
my note 2 broke and at the time the note 5 was newest. the note4 was nolonger sold in stores but ATT website still had it available. i bought it from the website because i wanted expandable sd and replaceable battery. about a week ago my phone started lagging badly and would shutdown and restart. i assumed a update broke something because i just replaced the battery a few days earlier because it felt like it was draining quicker than usual.
well i went into att store and they informed me that i was overdue for a upgrade, exactly 4 days before my phone started acting messed up. i think they do something to intentionally break your phone so you have no choice but to upgrade. Now i have a cheap LG x venture.. What can i do with this note4? can i install a different operating system on it? maybe linux or atleast a clean version of android so i can use it like a tablet?
After searching and reading, it comes down to either the 20x or the regular 20. I also thought about the View 20 but that is off the shelf now. I read and watched everything on youtube about them both so i know what to expect mostly. But i do have some important questions.. Ill start by saying currently own the Mate 9. Since the mate 9, for some reason, i am always drawn to Huawei mate phones
First thing I would like to know about the 20x is how is the speakerphone loudness when talking to someone else. Is it strong enough? Can you hear the other person clearly and loudly? I know that listening to music and speaking on the speakerphone not necessarily have the same quality and volume.
Everyday use... is it a hassle to carry on you? Is it a hassle to use with one hand?
Last thing and most important i wanna know is bang for the buck, value for money.
Only thing that deters me from the 20X is the price. It will cost me about $970 doesnt matter if i buy it online or in my country (import tax, etc bring it to that price even if i buy online for $750) . I have NEVER thought i would spend that much on a damn phone, and even thinking about it now sounds ridiculous. In my whole life time, the most I spent on a phone was $650, but that phone is the only one which really gives me the strong itch to spend on it, and IF i do, there is just NO WAY i am going to upgrade again in 2-3 years. So this HAS to be something that will keep on running smoothly stay relevant for at least 3 years, just like the Mate 9 i have now.
I dont game at all, but I do like to browse a lot and watch Netflix so the big screen and the insane speakers sounds great. Can I afford the phone? yes I can. But if i do, i need to know that its totally worth the price.
The other option is the Mate 20 (pro is a no go) which sounds good too (4GB/128) , but obviously not as good as the 20x and will cost me $660.. thats a $300 price difference. So I really need your UNBIASED advice.
I am also worried about updates.. until these days i have never received Oreo on my Mate 9
For me the choice is obvious. The Mate 20 X has a bigger screen, AMOLED display, larger battery, better camera.
Side note, Android 9 is due to be released for the Mate 9 (C432) in the upcoming weeks. You might want to check Firmware Finder if you're still stuck on Nougat.
I've upgraded from a Mate 9 to the 20 X only for the larger screen. I was quite happy with it otherwise.

That $300 you'd be saving over the course of two years is only $12 a month. If you had a Mate 20 X and a Mate 20 in front of you and you only owned the Mate 20 you'd probably kick yourself for not spending the extra few hundred and getting the Mate 20 X. If you plan on keeping the phone for a while then don't go cheap and just spend the extra money. Everything is loud on the 20 X. You won't be disappointed. I said the same thing, that I'd never spend this much money on a phone again until I heard about the 20 X. I'm glad I spent the money because the phone is awesome.

Firmware Finder wont help. i tried everything. my phone wont get updates.
Big screen is also what i want.. although 6.5" with flat screen isnt that small either. Just hard to decide if phone is worth almost $1k
I have 2 units MATE 20 X, just like the guys above me said, the most i have ever spent on a phone was 475 EUR back in time when Nokia 93i was Released. Since then i have owned Galaxy Note 3 Clone, LeTV Le Max X900 ( which i buiild it myself with all the parts ) and Xiaomi Mi Mix. When Mate 20 X was released, i knew it since the first second this phone is for me... all i wanted was a bigger screen , as you may notice my Screen Experience has increased with every phone i have owned : Nokia N93i, Note 3 Clone, LeTv LeMax, Xiaomi Mi Mix 6.4inch.
Mate 20 X has almost everything you could possibly want from a Smartphone and still is cheaper than it's competitors : Big AMOLED Screen, Dual Stereo Speakers, Leica Triple Camera, 5000MAh battery. These are the reason i choose Mate 20 X. I' a little bit of a maniac, so i bought another one as a backup unit...
Get the Mate 20X, it is worth spending the money on this amazing smartphone.
Since the price drop I think the mate 20 PRO is actually cheaper then the mate 20x. It dropped by $450!
5G version of mate 20 x has been announced, but I'm hoping price and release date pops up soon. There are not many details yet. Then maybe the 20x will drop in price.
I really want the mate 20x but I don't know if I want to wait a bit to see if the price will drop or wait for the 5G version so that it is more future proof. I'm the same when I buy this phone it will quite a while before I get something else.

The price of Mate X is 2299$ and it will be released mid year... Price will not drop so fast ... The market for that phone is a totally different one... What it scares me about Mate X is 5G and only 4500MAh Battery with all that screen on it... Thanks, but i'll stick with Mate 20 X

Would you recommend getting it from ebay? never MSRP is selling it, but im worried buying an almost 1k phone from ebay. The other option i have is Clove UK, but they are $95 more expensive than MSRP but i assume more reliable
Mate 20 Pro price has been reduced so it's on par with the 20 X. If I didn't want a large screen size I'd go with the 20 Pro. No reason to consider the 20

Pro is ugly too but that's my opinion of course. It's a no go for me and it also misses the 3.5mm audio jack.
I have never even considered the pro. it was never an option.
Same for me. Have you made your decision wether to go for the Mate 20 or 20X?
It sucks Huawei doesn't deliver it globally :/
Go for 20x. Its pricing is very competitive even now. There is no sense of Waiting. I mean, how much it has to drop so this woul be enough for you?

I understood that he is importing it from Singapore (not sure about that), and Clove is selling UK stock.. could this have effect on updates? I certainly wouldnt want that what happened with my Mate 9 would happen again with a $1000 phone
"Everyday use... is it a hassle to carry on you? Is it a hassle to use with one hand?"
It's not a hassle at all to carry. It fits in pockets, etc. It is rather tall, but if you're interested in this phone at all, you know all about the size of it. It's a heavy phone. I don't mind the weight, though. I like a phone with a bit of heft. I have larger than average hands, but I still can't completely use it one-handed. I have no problem texting and other day to day uses using one hand, but I find that it's just easier to do certain things on it using two hands or one hand plus the pen accessory. If your hands aren't larger than most, you'll be using two hands more than you're used to using. It's no big deal though, and you get used to it quickly.
"Last thing and most important i wanna know is bang for the buck, value for money."
I bought the phone the day it was available internationally, so I paid close to a thousand dollars, and I still think the cost was justifiable. It has a killer screen, killer camera, pen input, an extremely reliable, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, loud speakers, and lightning fast processor. Huawei has been updating this phone monthly so far. I've always been worried about Huawei's lack of support soon after a phone is released. They've been on top of this phone, however. I'm really satisfied with their support so far. I would imagine, however, that if you keep this phone for 3 or more years, your update and support expectations shouldn't be too high. I'm just guessing here, but I think the really good support Huawei is giving to the new Mate line of phones will slack off by October or so, once the new line comes out. In three years, I would imagine very little support.

I don't do much gaming either. Whatever else you do on this phone will be made better by the screen. It's that good, and it's really big. YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, web browsing....all that is excellent on this phone. Just remember, it's a heavy phone. So, long video or browsing sessions might take some effort if you're holding the phone the entire time.
If you can afford the X, I say go for it. Get the international version and get it working right out of the box. You won't be disappointed.
Gonna buy the phone today. I decided to get it from Clove UK since they give 2 years warranty unlike eBay. I hope i wont need it, but if i put down 1K on a phone, i would like to have some warranty. I heard that UK are about the last to get updates though
I've the 20X. Was going to get the pro but, don't like curved screens, don't want in screen scanner, don't use wireless charging... Don't like the dimensions. Mate 20 X is an epic phone however!
I had the Mate 9, first saw it on holiday whilst I'm Thailand then imported one and charged the region loved loved loved it. Then bricked it and binned it. Very sad day...
Had S9+ then Note 9 (got sent back) then Honor View 10 that ended up in the toilet... So I researched and was instantly drawn to the X.
Got it, thought I'd made a mistake on day one, was too big I thought... Day two, hell, I wouldn't consider anything else.
Speakers are fantastic, dolby atmos stereo, battery life stellar, sometimes I get 9 hours SOT, play PUBG, hdr video, goes on and on. Love this phone as much as I loved my mate 9.
You'll love it too. Guaranteed! Let us know how you get on!
