I rooted my phone about a month ago and went to MikFroyo 4.4 ROM very soon after. I did alot of research and found that MikFroyo was supposed to have working 4G, but for me it isnt working. I have working RSA keys and I live in a 4G area. Can anyone help me??? I live in a suburb outside of Chicago.
Did your 4G ever work? Is it connecting then dropping? Are you running the latest radio and PRI?
Yes it did work before I rooted. I believe I am using the correct radio, but can you tell me how i can check that? When I turn on 4G it starts scanning and just keeps scanning. Everything else on the phone works awesome. I just really want 4G.
This doesn't help but just so you know I tested the 4G and it does work. It scans and disconnects or connects pretty quick.
Im sorry if this had been posted, I used the search feature aswell. Apparently Im a noob at this, but here it goes.
I have a Samsung Epic 4g flashed to Boost Mobile. Everything works great. I even got the picture messaging to work. My thing is that when I am out somewhere away from my wifi connection I get little to no connectivity with my 3g. Is there any way to boost the signal at all or make it go faster. (I live in Michigan btw). Also, I keep getting this message saying that my Sprint username/password is incorrect and cant sign in. How do I get rid of this. Its annoying. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx
hello, i am new to this, but have a little experience flashing routers. anyhow i flashed my epic 4g to boost last night and the the texting and calls work fine, but i have no 3g. i was wondering if there is a easy step that i can do to get the 3g working. also i was wondering if i shut my epic off can i turn my doner phone (sanyo incognito) back on? i see instructions on here how to do it ,but i already flashed my phone and am not sure if i can turn the incognito back on. i know that i cant have them both on at the same time. thanks in advance!!
This could have gone as a question here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=891077
But pretty much, turn off your epic, turn back on your sanyo, make sure you have internet connection on your sanyo by checking a webpage using 3g, not wifi, then follow those instructions.
If those instructions don't work, you definitely typed one of the passwords wrong. Do it again, preferably using copy and paste and make sure you're putting the right passwords into the right places.
i figured it out!! i was putting the 20 0's in for the boost AAA key.... the boost AAA key is shorter than the sprint one. the only problem i'm having now is my 3g speed is real slow. do you know of any tweaks to speed it up a little? i'm going to root my phone tomorrow.. thanks for the help and sorry this post was in the wrong spot...
Sounds like you might have to update your prl (preferred roaming list), It basically tells your phone what towers to connect to. Download the latest prl, mine is 11115. (And I have sweet service )
Basically using Qpst service programming, go to the roam tab and put your downloaded ".prl" file where you see an area to insert a file and click "write to phone" That most likely should help out, if not then it may have to do with the service in your area. I Hope that help you out.
Here's the link for the prl I use (11115)- http://team-nocturnal.com/showthread.php?41-Collection-of-PRL-s
epic 4g on boost -- only 3g is working
I loaded the 11115 prl file and my 3g speed is super fast now!! It created another problem thou. I cannot make or receive calls now. Also I sent myself a text from my other phone and it came thru, but next to the message it said "failed"???...
When I try to make a call it says "error 16 switch 172" then tries to redirect me to customer service...
Can I use this 11115 prl with my phone flashed to boost? Or is it for sprint only?
I would love to just use one phone, but I guess if I have to I can use another phone (service) to make calls and texts and get on the pay as you go plan and use my epic for the internet only, for $.50 a day..
Thanks for all the help guys. It is really appreciated!!
I just went through that with my buddy's phone cause he was bouncing back and forth between the Incog and Evo he uses. Just let the Epic bring you to customer service, give them your number, name and pin, and they'll do the rest. Its a new "security feature". Quick and easy. Keep the battery OUT of your other phone from now on. Just to be safe.
I have an epic 4g touch that i recently installed the latest version of MIUI. Unfortunately, i cant seem to get the 3g to work and no matter what i search i have yet to find an answer. Any help would be appreciated

I use the alternate carrier data fix, on miui, aokp, and cm 10. Only issue is with miui ics I never get 3g bars but I get 3g speed.
Is there any way to permanently disable 4G functionality, by removing a lib or apk or some other method?
I'm using an Epic on Boost so 4G isn't an option, but I have still noticed that occasionally my phone will switch to 4G. When that happens I lose data and none of my background syncing works...
EDIT: Probably should have mentioned, I'm running The People's ROM v2.2.1.
Not 100% sure about this so I would wait for someone more experienced to give you another answer. But if you want, make a backup of your rom now and then use titanium backup and uninstall every app with "wimax" in its name. I do believe all the wimax stuff is 4G related. I could be wrong tho.

Did you disable the Sprint Optimizer? Settings> wireless and networks> mobile networks> automatic connections.
If that don't stop it remove easysmart.apk from system on phone.

No 4G on boost?! Is that because you're not using a dummy phone with a wimax radio? I thought as long as I take the ESN from a wimax enabled phone, I'll be able to use the wimax feature. Am I wrong about this? How did you get your phone Epic 4G onto the Boost Network, mbellot?

My (minimal) understanding on the subject is:
1. The donor would need to be a wiimax device
2. In addition to the ESN you would need to also "move" the donor's wiimax MAC address on your Epic since that is what gets "activated" for 4G service.
I have seen topics on #2 floating around, some even on using an alternate wiimax service (FreedomPop, etc) by using the MAC address from a device on that service since they all technically go through Clear towers.
I've never felt the need to pursue wiimax, I'm on WiFi 90% of the time and the rest of the time I've learned to live with 3G.
To your last question (how I got the Epic on Boost), there is a very long thread in the development section here.
FWIW - I solved my problem by moving from TPR to CM11, WiiMax is disabled in the kernel so I don't have to worry about it ever turning on.
