no good could come from this.

If people would actually post useful information instead of complaining about the thread, plenty good can come from this. Here is an example:
Wifi fix if you are on the 11.24 build- 2 options

I think we should roll with this, and as people post USEFUL information, you should monitor the responses and then list them in the OP, so it doesn't turn into another thread of 3000 posts. Just my opinion...

I was going to post this in the dev thread, but this seems like a better thread for general questions.
Once we get official CM7 support, will this mean...
a.)CM9 will work no problem
b.)some recoding will be required to get CM9 working
c.)the same gargantuan effort need to be made again

Cross-post from CM-KANG thread: Audio Dock Redirection?
Does anyone know of a CM-compliant kernel that works with Galaxy Sound Redirector?
I would LOVE to use my fancy CM phone with the Samsung Car Dock - and I cannot without a simple modification to the kernel + Galaxy Sound Redirector.
The relevant kernel code.
I've been made to understand that the CM team in general does not support this modification; if Deca, et al do not wish to I understand - I just wish I knew of a ready-to-use kernel that does!

still not get the 3g data working
excuse me sir,
i've been installed the cm7, and still not get the 3g data working
i was using, the sleeperROM then i've backedup the apn, using apnbackup before turned into CM7.
then i restored the config, but still not work.
any guide, how to fix it?
thanks master.

Just a little heads up on threads like these guys. Notice when you post in a thread, it bumps it to the top? Well, if you see an unrelated thread, then as a community, don't post. Just report it if you'd like and move on. Bumping a thread like this does two things, brings forward the flamers, and pegs a thread with no useful development to our front page. The more people that post "WRONG THREAD, IDIOT!" the longer I and others have to look at it on the front page.

Wrong sections...

Is it just me, or am I seeing more and more ROM's that are CM9/10 and AOKP/AOSP based being put in the development section instead of the original section where they belong?
Would asking a MOD to move them to the proper section be asking for trouble? I am just curious because it is cluttering up section and making it hard to find things...

The way I see it, they are technically Android Development, as are all the ROMs in the original section. And, they are technically not original projects since they are heavily based on someone else's work. Ideally we would have a sub section for Stock and a sub section for AOSP/CM based ROMS, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
I do feel your pain though. The Android section is getting to be quite a mess.

Well that's the thing, original development is for the AOKP/AOSP and CM9/10 ROMS and Android Development is for the TW based ROM's be they stock or otherwise. It is so confusing...
I personally believe that all AOSP based ROMs should go in Original Development and all TouchWiz based ROMs should go in Android Development.

Please don't get me wrong. I love any dev that is putting new stuff out. But.... When they are putting stuff in the wrong section, it is confusing and bothersome.
Only original development IMO is CyanogenMod and AOKP everything else is based or a copy of those two.
I'm referring to ROMs not tools or kennels.

NO. Original development is for Original work. Just taking CM source and compiling it is not original work. The Official CM ROMs and first AOKP ROMs ONLY go in Original Development. Everything else goes in regular development. There is a sticky in Original Development explaining more.

We can't start breaking down ROMs by aosp, tw, etc. Mopar, that's just too much for the admins. *Most* of the time, they are labeled and if not, users will just have to read for themselves (like they need to be doing anyway). If you guys feel like something is out of place, then you can pm any one of us in this section, and we'll go over it.

I have an idea to make sure noobs read the OP. Instead of a capcha to access the DL there should be a randomly inserted question based on the OP to get the DL link. If you answer the question wrong you can't retry for 10 mins, answer it wrong more then 3x can't DL for 24hrs so they have time to re read

We definitely need to do something about the new guys and everyone else not following rules and posting in the wrong sections. Just in the past week, I have seen probably 30 posts get moved from General to QA. As well as new members trying to be internet gangsters when the get called out on their crap. I personally feel like punishments should be a bit more strict not just as a punishment for the person with the infraction but to save other users from having to deal with the crap that is getting dished out. I see a potential for a ton of good things in the future and I have a ton of ideas for structuring how things are handled. It is obvious that we have a lot more average users than we do admins/mods, maybe having a few more would benefit everyone and setting up a sort of system to make it easier for those mods and admins to keep things organized. I personally have had people tell me that I should look into being a mod because i don't take crap from anyone and I normally don't act like a flipping idiot when responding to the top tier morons that want to act stupid for attention. If a mod wants to contact me about my ideas and such, please feel free to do so.

I agree with the advantage of having more Mods and Admins, but you need to be careful about having too many. I've seen too many other communities die because of admin bickering and the admins getting really egotistic.
Also, I knew where you were going gray, before you finished the fourth sentence. Maybe a bit more subtle with your plugs, eh?

Something kind of along these lines was implemented into the JusTunBean inverted apps thread ages ago.
He was getting fed up with all the members who weren't reading the OP and continued to ask stupid questions so he asked other RCs what we could do.
An idea was suggested to hide a password in the OP somewhere. Once the password had been found, the member had to enter the password into an app which would then provide them with a download link.
The password was broken down into three parts and placed randomly in the OP but it would be clear which words were part of the password and which ones weren't.
It's just a shame that he removed the password because too many idiots were asking for it/moaning about it.

[Q] AOSP

Just curious if anyone was working on AOSP?
Yes. Please read the threads that are stickied before posting something like this. It's also in the wrong section But yeah, someone is working on it, no idea about ETA, don't ask that question. You'll have to wait a bit, not sure. But it is coming! K, no one start a flame war or yell, things happen.

Why yes I did, but all they are is people saying stop asking. I don't see any actual answers or what is missing. I am not asking for ETA's or anything like that, this isn't my first day. But it just seems like this phone is about dead on the development side. The ATT seems to have much more of a following.

We have a lot of great devs and they work really hard behind the scenes they just don't like to be bugged or asked a lot. Thanks for being mature about this thread unlike some others. Yes it's on it's way, yes our devs are working hard. All we can do is let them work
As for what's missing I'm not the best to ask but up until know I'm pretty sure we were waiting on JB source, which just dropped last week
What's not working: nfc, GPS, camera, issues with efs & screen shadowing

Take a look in the Development section
The KF is not an OG nor is it from the CPT.
There is no current AOKP. You can use the pure AOSP r1 build, Official CM10.1 nightly, cm10.1 w/ SGT7, or any of the other roms in dev section.

Lol try following your advice. Do you realize how many threads aokp is mentioned in just in the dev section? I did search..again...hints the words did I overlook something. I couldn't have over looked it if I didn't look/search in the first place.

Congrats, I guess you used the other 30 seconds to come back and troll. Thanks for proving my points though.
@Xplorer4x4,
With this kind of attitude, you will get no where near help you need in XDA, not only in this sub-forum but XDA in general.
There is no rule forcing you not to post but you MUST find the answer on your own, no one here will help you look for it if you don't even do a little homework yourself.
How many AOKP THREAD in the Development section? Find your own answer. READ.
For your info, trolling like this won't get you far in life either so change your attitude if you can. It will help you.

There is an old saying, you have to give respect to get respect. I came in, asked a simple question to make sure I did not over look something when I SEARCHED the dev forum, Instead I get a response like "Take a look in the Development section " I mentioned this in my op, all be it discreetly. Then I get a smart ass answer like "The KF is not an OG nor is it from the CPT." Perhaps this was intentended to be humorous but text on a screen often has a way of being misinterpreted. Had a "lol" a "" or something of that degree ben included, maybe I would have picked up on the attempt at humor. Since I fail to see the humor, you tell me, who got attitude first? Then asf58967 keeps coming back to the thread to provide more derogative comments. I subscribed to the thread to get updates. What's his excuse?
There is no rule forcing you not to post but you MUST find the answer on your own, no one here will help you look for it if you don't even do a little homework yourself.

Like I said, many times before, I asked if I overlooked anything..and like I said before, in order to over look something, I have to have searched or browsed the forum. If you READ you will understand I did my home work and look at the usefulness of the responses minus the later part of asf58967 first post which started with a smart ass answer.
For your info, trolling like this won't get you far in life either so change your attitude if you can. It will help you.

lol trolling? I actually had a reason to keep coming back to the thread. You might want to take the rose colored glasses off and read the thread again. Furthermore, I been a member here for 3 years and have under 80 posts. I would say I don't require much help.
I do development outside of android, so I understand fully the thought process behind search first, ask second. It drive me up a frigin wall, and is part of the reason I abandoned my former projects. You know why I search first, a number of reasons but the most important answer is that searching will often get you an instant answer rather then sitting on your ass waiting what could be hours for some one to reply.

Not sure if you are serious or sarcastic, but as far as I can tell...no. Which surprises me. From my understanding of android development, Hascode has all the drivers and such working so it shouldn't be hard to port that to the AOKP base. I can understand if the original dev did not have time to maintain it but I am surprised no one else has picked it up.

Listen man, I am sorry you have been so offended. Yes the OG from CPT was a joke. I live in los Angeles near the CPT. The bottom Line is people here participate ALOT and the spirit of xda is based on finding knowledge before posting a thread - that way all new threads end up useful, as opposed to there being 5000 threads of "how do I root my Kindle" or "is there an AOSP ROM".

Aroma apps?!?!?!

Guys I am making a ROM with aroma in it. Is there any apps or themes... in particular, that you would like me to add in? I'm all ears.
Jello is yummy!

XDA is smart enough to know who's "roms" to avoid! Sorry, but not a very good track record friend.

Yes bro. But I can't worry about what the haters think about me. All I can control is how I take feedback and grow. Whether you flash my ROM or not is your choice. But at least I have the decency to try my best and to keep my silly comments to my self ,and not to discourage people who make ROMs for my enjoyment. Maybe something some of the members on XDA should work on. That's just my take on it though. Everyone is entitled to an opinion right.
Peace out!

Constructive feedback:
1. Actually make a rom, don't just kang one, change the name and promise big things to come that never happen.
2. Communicate in your roms thread. Help people troubleshoot problems. Don't just give one sentence replies that point to basic fixes that most of us know isn't going to help. That's called brushing people off. Also, when a guy tests something for you, and reports it boot loops, don't just ignore him and never reply. Also....actually hitting quote when you reply to someone makes things far less confusing. And spamming your own thread with post after post in a row is messy. Collect your thoughts first and post once.
3. Keep your thread on topic. Don't use one roms thread to promote a bunch of other projects. Its confusing. People have no idea what they are flashing when you put up all these links to roms that have nothing to do with the opening post.
4. If people constantly flame your threads....take a good look at what they are criticizing. Sometimes they are completely right. Even if the way they said it was perhaps rude or sarcastic.
You say you control how you take feedback and grow? So do it. Grow. You've had a lot of feedback, granted some hasn't been presented the best way, but still....people have "complained" that your communication is weak, you don't support your roms well, you "borrow" too much and don't add original work to your roms and most of all your threads are a mish mash mess. Look at your carbon thread ....the carbon rom stopped being updated and you just started tossing test rom after test rom out and going on about future plans that never saw the light of day. Was a completely confusing and mess of a thread.
Why am I spending all this time saying all this? To offend you? No....I don't even know you, why go out of my way to offend you. Look at my stats, my thanks equal about a third of my total posts. I like to help. Yes, I don't like seeing crap go on and bullying.....and its led to my share of arguing....but I try to help.
The more devs working on our phone the better. So I'm trying to help YOU see what needs improving.
Please understand, we just don't need more and more drama here. And if you repeat the past, drama will follow you for sure.
See ya around

And I will add this. Sorry to say, but I've seen you ask some really novice questions in other rom threads. Ones a "dev" should know the answers to....or at the very least be able to search and find a very easy and quick answer to. This makes it appear that you don't know a whole lot. Anyone can read a guide and kang or port roms, but why? We don't need a bunch of identical roms with different names. Of course some ports are nice, but you are not a "dev" cause you can port and kang and maybe cherry pic a few extras.
Why not learn some more before sharing projects? If you put out something unique and/or original ......watch the flaming stop quickly.

1. Thanks for your feedback. I do appreciate it.
2. If you have a problem with my kangs or ports don't flash in fact don't even look at the ROM. And bro you claim to try to help me. But if you are not trying to get at me why don't you just send me a pm. Huh? You wine and cry because I have links of different ROMs on my one thread. But I really don't even see the problem with that. LOOK AT THE OP. You can find what you are looking for there. Because posting my ROMs on one thread is better than having several threads with my name on it.
3.And I hate to break it to you. But a lot of my novice questions were asked when I was a novice. And I ask them so that I can learn and put more knowledge to my arsenal.
4. If you are tired of seeing the same thing. You better get used to it. Android is recycled material. And I only do ports for Roms that this device doesn't have to add to this device's arsenal. So please don't hate if you don't like the ROM being ported. Just flash another ROM. We have plenty.
Finally... If you have any more problems with how I develop my ROMs I really don't care bro. Comment bugs and fixes not schemes. If you really want a particular ROM from me pm me and I'll do my best. That goes for any comment you have.
Peace out!
P.S if you like to help don't put that jello garbage or cat crap on my questions. I don't have time for that bs. Keep that to yourself. In fact you haven't even helped me at all with any of my aroma questions just saying....
No one is helping with your aroma questions because you lost all credibility here, at least in the t989 section!
Have a nice day!
