Tile customization with full control - Windows Phone 7 General

Hi,
I've been trying to change my tile icons using advanced configuration tool but it keeps telling me to reboot without doing anything. I have TouchXplorer but I don't know how to find the files I got off the internet such that I can transfer them to the /Windows folder. I've tried and bought about five different tile apps only to realize that I'm limited in the apps I can access. my best bet is the configuration tool, could someone tell me how to get the icons to be recognized by the app?

For some reason I thought that stopped working after mango.

Try this. Gives you a today plugin for wireless and bluetooth

The only thing I would like different is if it didn't open up the comm. Manager to actually switch it, if it made the change right from the home screen it would be perfect, anyone know of something like that???I found something called cicleBT that work well however its not on the Today screen home page, I have the HTC home plugin and can put it in the app launcher and its cool. Any way of making it so it works as a plugin on the home screen.

Nice! Haven't seen this one before.
can this be changed to be a plugin
Just want to see if there was a way of making this so that it was a plugin on the today home screen say just under the HTC home plugin aligned to the left side and have my calendar show up to the right of it??? A nice little icon there that is large enough to use my finger to push???
Anyone know how to do a mod like this??
Thank you I wish I knew how to do it, any help would be appreciate.
Cheers!!
are you lookin for freeware? b/c if NOT then spb phone suite has today screen components, 1 of which is like a button that displays a sub menu allowing you to turn phone, bluetooth, and wi-fi on/off and also flight mode. you can even tap and hold on each to access more options (ex: bluetooth modes, vibrate etc.) i dont want to sound like i'm selling this to you, but it's a great app. maybe the 1 app i install over every rom.
more info here
more screens here
search for a program called pockettoolman its freeware.
yeah freeware
Definately looking for a freeware to do this, not really wanting to pay for an icon on the today screen. I found this cab but can't get it to work looks like what I want but it don't work
HELP needed any good coders...............
I have found a quick launcher on the web with 5 icons to launch apps. Is there any coders out there that can manipulate this for me to 3 icons, bluetooth toggle on/off, wifi toggle on/off, and phone toggle on/off, justified to the left side of the today screen, again I am using an att 8525 with the att rom. Any help would be appreciated. thank you all in advance.
cheers,
attached is the cab for the quick launcher.
I am beating this to death
I am sorry to keep on with this, this is the last CAB that i will upload I really hope someone can help me with building what I want but til then this little plugin will suffice. Please try and help me with what I described above in the other posts. thanks.
the plugin you want CommCEntric v1.11 (hell I want it if someone can make it into a today plugin for pocket pc) is an xml file. unfortunately you need some type of a homescreen to view it. I dislike the homescreen concept because they take up so much space, but I love the look of comcentric)
hopefully anyone technically inclined can make it into a cab that will make it viewable on a pocket pc screen (not just smartphone)

Has anyone figured out a way to make the commcentric app work for pocketpc??? Would love just to have the Bluetooth icon on home screen and be able to toggle just bluetooth on/off....any help here would be appreciate, basically bluetooth icon on the left with my calendar plugin showing up next to it on the right...
Cheers!
The easiest way to do this is to use cLaunch (http://pachome1.pacific.net.sg/~welic/claunch.html) which allows you put to icons onto your today screen. It's really configurable so you can just have a couple of icons, or your can have multliple tabs with many icons on. You need to play about with it to get it working how you want, but it'll do what you're looking for.
For the Bluetooth icon, here's a useful utility that toggles Bluetooth on and off without opening CommMgr. Copy it into Program Files on your phone and cLaunch should be able to see it so that you can have the bluetooth icon on your today screen.
An even simpler method is to stick BTSwitch in your Program Files and then map one of your soft buttons to it... No need to take up any screen real estate with pretty icons!!

Where exactly do I navigate to to put the BTSwitch so I can map it to a button already on my phone, what a brilliant idea! Thanks, I just don't know what to do with it. I have placed it in several locations and went to map the button but can't find the file....I am dumb or am I missing soemthing.
Thanks and Cheers!

Sorry, should have been more specific!
Put the BTSwitch.exe file into Windows/Start Menu/Programs. You can then use the standard Settings > Buttons method to map one of the hardware buttons to the BTSwitch programme.
You can also map one of the soft buttons at the bottom of the screen, but will need a separate utility to do that... (eg Schap's Advanced Config : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070)
Also, have a look at these threads for other ways of changing your soft keys:

Hi,
I had the same question, and someone did answer what you and I where looking for.
It was answered by: slavik @ www.pocketpcfreak.com
The software is called: HTC BT Quicklink
His link was: http://rapidshare.com/files/42718525/HTC_BT_Quicklink.cab
There is no manual, but play with it and you will figure it out...
Good luck.

Desktop Shortcuts (coding/management apps)

Hi, new user here, thanks for a great forum.
I just got my HTC Hero and i am loving it. The only thing i am missing very much is a working application for renaming shortcuts. If you add a shortcut to a person "James", default action create message, it shows on the desktop as "Send to J...", which would be great to be able to change.
I have tried both Anycut and Bettercut but none of these work on my phone. I am currently using Modaco 2.5 Core, but i haven't been able to make any of th apps work with the generic european 2.73 rom either - the icons i create do not show up, the Edit button shows no shortcuts to edit, and the apps crash.
Question is then,
1) do anybody have any idea where shortcuts are stored in the filesystem, and how they are represented, data wise? I created a new shortcut and then copied all .db and .xml files to the pc and started looking for it with a sqlite client and file search I but couldn't find anything there. (lol, hey, had to try something
2) do anybody know a combination of a custom rom and a shortcut management application that work together on the HTC Hero?
3) do anybody have any pointers to how to manipulate the shortcuts through java code/api?
Thank you in advance. Hope to be contributing to the forum, im truly fascinated with this thing ! Truly a great gadget.
Best regards

Custom Tile for Internet Shortcut

Is there a way to create a custom tile for an internet shortcut without using an app? I downloaded "Tile Genie" but surprisingly it wants to share the screen with my shortcut. The only other solution I've seen is an EXE which I can't use since I'm running 8.1 Preview. There's got to be a registry hack I would think. Thanks in advance.

missing notification toggles, process different on MM

I've come to notice that, per this thread, you should be able to edit your QuickTiles / QuickSettings / QuickPanel / Notification Toggles / whatever you want to call them, they have many names. with a SQlite editor by going in Settings Storage
I personally used that process about a year ago and can confirm it works just fine, but there's one small problem. in MM there's no databases in Settings Storage and I've run out of ideas on where to look for manually editing.
I've had big problems with GalaxyTools (on MM) after using the "Enable All Toggles" feature so I'm avoiding that at all costs.
the toggles I'm missing are hotspot and data. there are non-root apk's out there that can restore hotspot, data, and a couple other toggles (one at a time) but they are designed for a specific device and on the Note 4 it works but makes some others, and sometimes all toggles disappear -- which requires a nandroid to restore.
can anyone offer some insight on the new location of the toggles settings storage location?
Yeah, same problem here. I am also looking for a solution. The fixes from Lollipop no longer work. Really annoying that networks remove this important toggle.

Tweaking start screen tiles layout

Hi guys,
there seems to be a limitation in W10M regarding the number of tile folders on the start screen. I tried it on different devices and could create 25 tile folders, but I need more... Creating the 26th always results just in a start screen reload before the has device recognized that a tile is put on top of another tile.
Is there I way to tweak it? I suppose the layout is stored in an XML file or in a database. I'd just try to edit this resource adding more folder elements.

The screenshot you point to explains TileColumnSize that is used to define how much tiles/tile folders are displayed in a row. But it isn't a problem. My problem is how to CREATE more than 25 tile FOLDERS on the start screen.

I don't know.
So folks, I pushed two tiles to the very top of the start screen and managed to create the 26th tile folder in this way.
But now a long-tap on every tile or group results into a start screen reload, so I'm unable to edit it at all...
I suppose it's a memory issue. Can plz someone verify it? All my devices have 1 GB RAM and stop at 25/26 tile groups.
I investigated the file system but found no traps of a file that controls the start screen layout.
There is system32\layouts\defaultLayouts.xml which is used for the initial setup after a hard reset.
And there's an interesting MSDN article about customizing the start screen layout via LayoutModification.xml:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/mt171093(v=vs.85).aspx
However it states that "Windows 10 Mobile only supports one Start group". So no chance to outsource the full configuration of the start screen to that file.
Now I'd like to export the phone's registry hoping to find the tile groups configuration there.
Is there a registry export tool? Interop Tools have a registry search but it doesn't search as assumed.

You can copy registry hives from Windows\System32\cache. I don't know if you need unlocked Bootloader and MassStorage mode, or only mtp usb hack, if you want I can send you mine

Pardon, but there is no such path. Spent some time to check different locations, couldn't find the registriy cache...
However I probably found the place where tile configuration is stored:
Phone\Data\Users\DefApps\APPDATA\LOCAL\TileDataLayer\Database
Can somebody plz verify it? I couldn't copy or open them.
A link (regarding W10 desktop) says: "Windows 10 Start screen or Start menu configuration are stored in a database file named vedatamodel.edb, which is always locked or in-use by the system when you’re logged on and can’t be copied." http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/backup-start-menu-layout-windows-10/
