Try this. Gives you a today plugin for wireless and bluetooth
Close
The only thing I would like different is if it didn't open up the comm. Manager to actually switch it, if it made the change right from the home screen it would be perfect, anyone know of something like that???I found something called cicleBT that work well however its not on the Today screen home page, I have the HTC home plugin and can put it in the app launcher and its cool. Any way of making it so it works as a plugin on the home screen.

Nice! Haven't seen this one before.
can this be changed to be a plugin
Just want to see if there was a way of making this so that it was a plugin on the today home screen say just under the HTC home plugin aligned to the left side and have my calendar show up to the right of it??? A nice little icon there that is large enough to use my finger to push???
Anyone know how to do a mod like this??
Thank you I wish I knew how to do it, any help would be appreciate.
Cheers!!
are you lookin for freeware? b/c if NOT then spb phone suite has today screen components, 1 of which is like a button that displays a sub menu allowing you to turn phone, bluetooth, and wi-fi on/off and also flight mode. you can even tap and hold on each to access more options (ex: bluetooth modes, vibrate etc.) i dont want to sound like i'm selling this to you, but it's a great app. maybe the 1 app i install over every rom.
more info here
more screens here
search for a program called pockettoolman its freeware.
yeah freeware
Definately looking for a freeware to do this, not really wanting to pay for an icon on the today screen. I found this cab but can't get it to work looks like what I want but it don't work
HELP needed any good coders...............
I have found a quick launcher on the web with 5 icons to launch apps. Is there any coders out there that can manipulate this for me to 3 icons, bluetooth toggle on/off, wifi toggle on/off, and phone toggle on/off, justified to the left side of the today screen, again I am using an att 8525 with the att rom. Any help would be appreciated. thank you all in advance.
cheers,
attached is the cab for the quick launcher.
I am beating this to death
I am sorry to keep on with this, this is the last CAB that i will upload I really hope someone can help me with building what I want but til then this little plugin will suffice. Please try and help me with what I described above in the other posts. thanks.
the plugin you want CommCEntric v1.11 (hell I want it if someone can make it into a today plugin for pocket pc) is an xml file. unfortunately you need some type of a homescreen to view it. I dislike the homescreen concept because they take up so much space, but I love the look of comcentric)
hopefully anyone technically inclined can make it into a cab that will make it viewable on a pocket pc screen (not just smartphone)
CommCEntric v1.11, release date 2007/06/14
http://web.gemini.dynalias.net/default.asp?c=index_ek_cc
A home-screen plugin for the Smartphone to instantly turn on and off the two main communication sections of a device, bluetooth and wireless, without having to go into the settings or even bother with the slow Comm Manager.
Displays a bluetooth icon and (if available) wireless icon which, upon pressure, display a context menu to quickly control their status.
how to install
Download the CAB installation package from below
Make sure you remove older versions before you proceed!
If you had an older version, please reboot the phone after uninstalling it.
Copy the CAB to your phone and install into internal memory
Edit your favorite homescreen's XML file to include CommCEntric:
Customize the following line as you need:

time attribute: Optional, specifies the format string for the time display. Format string is as per MSDN specification (look at the lpFormat section). If it's omitted, no time is shown.
date attribute: Optional, specifies the format string for the date display. Format string is as per MSDN specification (look at the lpFormat section). If it's omitted, no date is shown.
Optionally, the plugin can also be translated. You just need to add some attributes, each one translating a specific string:
str_bt0: translates "Disable Bluetooth"
str_bt1: translates "Enable Bluetooth"
str_bt1d: translates "Set discoverable"
str_btconf: translates "Configure Bluetooth"
str_wifi0: translates "Disable Wi-Fi"

Has anyone figured out a way to make the commcentric app work for pocketpc??? Would love just to have the Bluetooth icon on home screen and be able to toggle just bluetooth on/off....any help here would be appreciate, basically bluetooth icon on the left with my calendar plugin showing up next to it on the right...

The easiest way to do this is to use cLaunch (http://pachome1.pacific.net.sg/~welic/claunch.html) which allows you put to icons onto your today screen. It's really configurable so you can just have a couple of icons, or your can have multliple tabs with many icons on. You need to play about with it to get it working how you want, but it'll do what you're looking for.
For the Bluetooth icon, here's a useful utility that toggles Bluetooth on and off without opening CommMgr. Copy it into Program Files on your phone and cLaunch should be able to see it so that you can have the bluetooth icon on your today screen.
An even simpler method is to stick BTSwitch in your Program Files and then map one of your soft buttons to it... No need to take up any screen real estate with pretty icons!!

Where exactly do I navigate to to put the BTSwitch so I can map it to a button already on my phone, what a brilliant idea! Thanks, I just don't know what to do with it. I have placed it in several locations and went to map the button but can't find the file....I am dumb or am I missing soemthing.
Thanks and Cheers!

Sorry, should have been more specific!
Put the BTSwitch.exe file into Windows/Start Menu/Programs. You can then use the standard Settings > Buttons method to map one of the hardware buttons to the BTSwitch programme.
You can also map one of the soft buttons at the bottom of the screen, but will need a separate utility to do that... (eg Schap's Advanced Config : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070)
Also, have a look at these threads for other ways of changing your soft keys:

Hi,
I had the same question, and someone did answer what you and I where looking for.
It was answered by: slavik @ www.pocketpcfreak.com
The software is called: HTC BT Quicklink
His link was: http://rapidshare.com/files/42718525/HTC_BT_Quicklink.cab
There is no manual, but play with it and you will figure it out...
Good luck.
I would like to hear your ideas for Bada modifications, what things do you want to see done to Bada?
Everything and anything goes! (within reason)
My wishlist.
-
Delete some unneeded "Icons"... because I can remove Facebook, Twitter ...
But few JAVA Midlets are somewhere protected against remove.
I was able to delete jar, jad, Icon but Icon still there in menu
Where is the Database entry to clear?
Preinstalled Widget too...
-
120 Apps Limit...
Hmm, there are other ways to replace ... BUT why 120 Apps are Maximum?
-
Developer signed Apps are only 1 possible to activate...
bada SDK Samples for instance...
Via Broker.exe Install seems more then 1 work at the same time... Why?
And how to expand to install more then 1 App at same time.
-
Filemanager bada App with Access to internal Filesystem.
I'm sure that Samsung will not allow this on their Store... but is it possible.
Someone told their are no APIs to access internal folder...
maybe invetigation of apps_compressed.bin will help to find "Commands"...
-
Folder delete in internal FS
I can create folder with PSAS, but can't delete. They are writeprotected.
More ideas hopefully later...
Best Regards
well for instance i wanna change the keyboard to either htc or iphone.... this one is too crammy like congested.... wanna have a spacious potrait keyboard......... and with universal setting like if i wanna activate predective text it should apply everywhere... not just in messages........ and it should always stay on..........
secondly i wud like to see more UI modifications beyond just themes...... like changing the status bar or the way notifications occur and stuff........... custom roms maybe... variety is a good thing...
I'd like to see:
Ability to create widgets or widget like apps using system parameters..
For eg: GPRS data, browser bookmarks, setting wallpapers etc..
Customization of the top Notification Panel buttons.
Filemanager Drag and Drop to move files and folders
A memory cleanup application.
Big Aspect sized thumbnails for videos.. now we cannot distinguish videos in thumb view.
More Right click options in files/folders - i.e., Click and Hold to show Menu options to Move/Copy/Delete/Rename/Open with/etc..
I'd like to see shortcuts (with names) like on Android and continous autofocus in the video cam !
My ideas or things I want in Bada
Here are my ideas :
1. Ability to replace whole UI like Android.
2. Folders in Menu.
3. Text-reflow in Browser.
5. Unlimited Menu pages and Home screens.
6. Unlimited SMS storage (why you want to restrict us to 1300 on a SMARTPHONE )
7. Sending Group SMS to any number of people (can be very useful for certain type of
businesses. Did u think about it Sammy ?)
8. Auto-hide of Notification bar and Lower bar after certain amount of time or on Tap.
9. Different Wallpapers on every home screen.
10. Better animations.
11. Smaller icons. 4x5 grid with an option to change to suit consumers' taste.
12. Notification Drop down to have buttons for APN, Brightnesss.
13. In-built Backup-Restore app for all phone data. User should be able to select to what he
wants to backup or restore.
14. Highly efficient GPS. (I would not like to buy a BMW whose tires I have to fix. I have
paid for it, btw.)
15. Better Facebook(with chat), Twitter and IM app atleast Gtalk. Current one plainly sucks
16. Various bugs in Messaging to be fixed.
17. Select all and Mark as read option in Email app.
18. Universal availability of Social Hub Premium.
19. A little better sound output through speakers (it is based on personal taste only )
20. Text-reflow and Pinch-to-zoom in Email app.
21. Soft buttons for Menu and Back.
22. All applications to have Exit button.
more to come.................
Out of all these I have already solved 7th but then everybody can't make changes to the file system.
Yes, I do love Bada and its potential. Its simplicity is killing feature
Thanks !
I think user experience would benefit by implementing GPU acceleration in UI and browser as in IOS and Windows phone 7.

Hi all. @TigerCourage on AF I play with the camera settings file "CamSetting.ini" in folder "Registry" can be seen with the program "sTune" (I started some new options "IntelligentAuto" I do not know what does). There is also an option to focus on video recording "RecordFocusMode" from "0" to "2" default "0". Try setting but do backup before (right click and copy).
Try my sample file

Hey how you copy a file because the file copied to the phone is only by drag and drop. If you are able to copy my files when you start the camera will see the icon "sA" without restarting the phone. Otherwise the effect of the settings I have attached the file with changed sound of shooting

Yes I copied by drag and drop and I've seen your "sA" icon at the beginning but the continous autofocus is nowhere to be seen...
Is there anyway to save camera shoot images in uncompressed format so that the quality of captured images will be maximum?
I would like to have a "fast-access" GPS button - next to the mute button ("green" menu). I'm really sure that this function will be very popular!

I would like to have more keyboard languages (with T9 or whatever it's called on the Wave).
I have seen a friend of mine with a Wave from Vodafone, and he has 30+ langage/keyboard optinons. On my wave (normal German FW) I have about 10. No Cyrillic characters, no Chinese, no Arabian...
How am I supposed to use the full functionality of such a wonderful phone if i can't write an email to a friend /business associate in Russia for example.
I could grump about it a few more pages, but the essence should already be clear
P.S. AFAIK the languages are stored in the CSC flash file, so it's not so easy to "just add" some in, but I hope someone from samsung might also see this and think about it.
Android.=D
If i where a moderator or administrator i would ban that guy for inciting flame wars...
Is it possible to get into the registry and select which apps to add to Quick Actions? I would like to add OneDrive and other apps, beside the typical system functions there.
The problem is, I'm not sure where to look for this. Has anyone achieved this before?
Yes,me. Change the uri.
ms-onedrive:
Restart the phone after.
ms-settings: is the "All Settings icon, presumably?
How do I find the icon for OneDrive?
Dont know, change the uri with one of these: HKCU\Software\Classes.
So, my old phone's screen died. As it happens, I still have access to it via a HDMI out, but I just wanted to migrate all the Nova stuff straight across to my new phone.
But I've customised Everything.
The backup-restore process tried to bring across as much as possible, but I'm beginning to think that, for my level of customisation, maybe I should see if I can edit the backup file by hand before I restore it (hear me out).
My problems with restore:
1. Nova Prime. The first app link the restore should launch is to prompt the user to reinstall Prime. Took me a while to realise why a bunch of things weren't working the way I used to enjoy.
2. Wallpaper. You could argue this is not a launcher setting, but even if it was an option to dump the image into the backup file (is it an archive?), it would make migration smoother. Not a biggie though, and the o/s should let you sort it yourself, providing you can locate the original image of course.
2. Apps not present. So you just restored the Nova backup to a new phone and a bunch of icons don't work. But wait: the ghost-icon launches straight to an app store search for them - excellent! Love this. Except for those 5% of apps that you hunted down APKs and side-loaded. Okay, this issue is a bit niche and probably belongs in a backup app that saves APKs rather than Nova. Fair enough. If new-Nova could talk to old-Nova, it'd be a cool migration feature though.
3. Icon pack stuff. I've replaced all my icons using an icon pack + no labels. Searching icon packs and selecting the perfect icon takes time, so I appreciate that the restored ghost icons "just work" once the matching app is installed. A bunch of icons didn't appear though: I think these were widget-like shortcuts, maybe? E.g. my new device's 'phone' app wasn't recognised as the same one as my old one, so all those contact shortcuts had to be remade (cue icon pack searching again). Using Nate Wren's "The Grid" (presuming I shouldn't just dump the Play URL here; search for it if you're interested), there are so many icons but no reliable way to find an exact icon (is there a hidden icon title name I can search for somehow?). Reinstating icons would be easier if custom icons could be more identifiable somehow. Could I read the backup file and/or tune it by hand, perhaps?
Might write a few more items later. Cheers for any ideas or explanations that might help.
I have not used the QuickNav bar in many years. If you have a typical launcher app the bar seems sort of superfluous to me. But I did get to thinking about it recently while working on a new--and hopefully improved--version of my QuickTiles app. I actually only use five tiles (six on my NSTG) which is just the number of spots on the QuickNav bar. So maybe....
With some help from @Renate I managed to move the QuickNav bar to the top of the screen, or nearly to the top (it turns out it cannot overlay the status bar). That is the only modification I have made to framework-res.apk (FW 1.2.2). The rest of the setup is just putting together the various little apps to make a useful QuickSettings suite. I just made little apps for the things I normally use in my QuickTiles app and then used NookTouch ModManager to assign those apps to the "buttons" of the QuickNav bar. After a reboot (the function changes without a reboot, but the icon change does not happen until you reboot), I had a neat little QuickSettings bar. Also using NTMM I assigned the QuickNav bar to the "clock" (or on the NSTG I think it just says "status"), the last option in NTMM. So now when I tap in that upper right area, I have quick access to Wi-Fi, screen rotation, USB Audio, etc. See screenshot below.
A few limitations:
1. You have no easy control over what the button icons look like unless you make the apps yourself. That's how I achieved the uniform appearance (I borrowed the icons from QuickTiles). If you've used NTMM to assign various apps to the QuickNav bar before, you know you get a grab bag of looks. It is possible to create a custom set of icons and push them into framework-res.apk, but there is more involved and it is not fun. I did it years ago and do not recommend it.
2. The bar will not function from the stock Reader. The very corner area over the actual clock is reserved for bookmarking, and although tapping on a page reveals a black-on-white rendering of the battery icon, clock, etc., this actually goes to the stock Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi/Glowlight quick settings dialogs. NTMM has no effect on this instance.
3. The response of the QuickNav bar is essentially immediate. That said, the individual selections are still apps and so the actual startup of Wi-Fi or turning on the Glowlight, etc., may not be quite so immediate. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
To get it working
Make a backup.
Download the zip file attached below. It contains a framework-update.zip file which is for CWM. If you don't have a CWM card, you can make one from here (use either of the two sd card versions; do not install CWM internally!). Copy the framework-update.zip to the CWM card. Despite the name, this is not an "update" zip, so in the CWM menu selection you are just installing a zip file, not an "update".
Boot into CWM and install the modded framework-res.apk. Exit CWM (this reboots).
Also in the zip below are the little apps I wrote for my particular use. You can try these, but they are Tasker-generated apps so if you don't already have one of my other Tasker apps installed, you will need the two small library files included in the zip. Copy the two files into the locations shown below:
/system/etc/permissions/com.google.android.maps.xml
/system/framework/com.google.android.maps.jar
Set permissions for both files to rw-r--r-- and reboot. Without these files resident, the apps will not install.
Install whichever of the apps you want to try. Note that some require plugins (for more details, see the original QuickTiles post). Use NTMM to assign the apps to the QuickNav buttons and also to assign the QuickNav bar to the "clock" area. Reboot.
It's not a big deal for me to turn out additional little apps, so if you like this idea but don't see what you want and especially if it's in the QuickTiles app, I would be glad to make a custom app for you.
Undoing it all
Got buyer's remorse? Didn't make a backup first? Uninstall all the little apps. Get a fresh copy of framework-res.apk from the FW 1.2.2 update zip and place it in the framework-update.zip, overwriting the modded apk. Then use CWM to push the original file back to your device.
