I got one of these C-Pens today and wanted to share my thought on it for everyone.

Seriously, it's like going back to a WM6.0 device and the laggy pen strokes you got when drawing a picture. Exactly like that. In fact, drawing is much more responsive using your finger.
Thankfully not quite as bad as trying to sign a Royal Mail PDA when accepting a package, but not far off.
Very disappointing. Back it goes.

Well, I'm coming from the note 1 and the difference is like night and day! Aside from the beastly specs, the feel is just so incredible! ! But this isnt a thread about all the things you love about the phone, it's about what you don't. I'll start.

Not a fan of the amount of time it takes to turn on when you press the power button, meaning wake up time...

My biggest issue with the Note 2 is that it keeps me from doing real work or wanting to see my family or shave or take a bath or sleep. I should be sleeping now but guess what i am doing, tweaking the layout, testing apps that never really worked on older phones. Aahhhhhhh, see my frustration?

lol interesting thread - i've had my note for a total of 2.5 hours so far (side by side with my S3) and i've got to say (having used the original note) the overall feel is nice, very rounded, a bit slippery perhaps (nothing a skin cant fix)
the pen still feels lighter than i'd like and the button is a bit more recessed than i'd like
the home button is awesome and much more responsive than my stock s3
a similar complaint to my s3 but when grabbing the device from the bottom edge, i have a tendency to tap the menu / back buttons on accident, a bit annoying when not using a case
the glass is nice, the feel of the pen on the screen is much more controlled than the original
nfc, yay! google wallet downloaded, would message ' not compatible' on open and shut itself down... boo..
the volume and home button have a nice confident click and feel compared to the s3 and original note...

Google Wallet not working.
Lack of multi windows.
The pen feels a bit cheap still (loved the feel of the Palm Tungsten metal ones that were telescopic). Though fixable as I think I'll get a dual use pen/pointer to keep in pocket/briefcase, I'm a fairly large bloke too, so having that larger pen will help too, this current one isn't really of a decent size/thickness/weight to use for long periods of time, I think my hand would 'claw' up.
Lack of cases for a while (the official 'flap' one is good, got it at last but was making me twitchy not having it protected. Wish there was a good/cheap pouch type case to slide it in for extra protection). And/or the 'flap' phone case, the front of it, the actual flap, is wonderful to touch, but the back is the same uber slippery plastic that the default one is. Can NFC not be done through a very slightly thicker case with a built in rubberised coasting, as the Nexus7 has? This thing is still very, very slick, and I can see with slightly sweaty hands, I'll need to be extra careful.
The built in Samsung Keyboard (that is SO incredibly good with the Swype/cool T9 like swype functionalty/left/right handed), but doesn't scale to other resolutions if you tweak the lcd dpi. REALLY a great keyboard, please make it scale! No, best keyboard I've ever used, and it's keeping me from tweaking the dpi.
The knowledge that when I do inevitably flash CM on this, I'll probably end up losing TMobile wifi calling, that for me, is working wonderfully.
Touch wiz is mildly... odd. But not as bad as seen before, JB's ability to disable things is really helping. But what annoys me somewhat is the different functionality for no other reason than to do it different it appears, and needing a few extra apps (like the photo editor) downloaded when built in apps rely on it.
Oh, no 32mb NII's in TMobile, and so much of the 16GB filled with Bloatware (steady Cyanogenmod, steady... your day will come).
So, all pretty minor (hopefully constructive) criticisms. Overall, still mad impressed with this phone. All phones should have the option to have it work with a stylus as well integrated as this.
If I had the chance to order things to be fixed;
Wifi Calling for Tmobile as an installable app so I'd be less twitchy about flashing with other roms.

My personal gripe, is about how much my GN2 looks and feels like an iPhone. In everyway, from the straight lines, to the rounded corners, and don't get me started with the app drawer. The smoothness of page transitions, Google Now.

1 the on/off button on the exact opposite side of the device as the volume rocker. They should have put it up on top.
2 No dedicated camera button.
3 I always loved scrollable wallpaper, which I feel I shouldn't need to root, and re-rom for it.

yea i wish the power button was on top too but i rarely use it.
dedicated camera button would've been cool.
having a hard time buying a case/cover, don't want it looking too enormous.

The battery life is too good. The phone is too gorgeous.
Only gripe is the call volume being a bit on the low side even when maxed. Speaker is loud enough though.
I'm sure they're apks to tweak it a bit but I'm too busy enjoying the phone so i'll search for a fix later.
Somerhing for me is the screen keeps timing our evn with the option checked to see my eyes... also when it goes out and I press home button it goes home instead of waking up to the app I was on. Everyother phone did not do this. Is this just me or is there a setting?
I came from the S3, and love everything about my Note 2. I can't say one bad thing about it.

Size once in a while, I'm 5'7 so I guess that means I have smaller hands? For the most part I dont have an issue but some times my hand gets fatigued from using it too much...Not complaining but sometimes I wish they kept the 5.3 and made it narrower it'd be perfect for me.
I don't like that we can't use our S-Pen on our soft keys. It would be great to be able to hit the menu and back buttons with the pen and have them respond.
i dont like the physical home button,but not enough to keep me from buying it, i think next year it will be all cap.buttons.oh well i'll get it when its available
What do you guys mean when u say no multi windows ? I have a gs3 and really weighing if is worth getting the note 2 or sticking with the gs3 or the nexus 4 but thats another story

YeAH I WENT TO THE TMOBILE store and the three display devices all have the same issue as well..
I have to say, and I'm a phone whore to the extreme, this is the damndest near perfect phone I've ever owned. I have no complaints yet

I am having issues with my S pen and I haven't been able to find a solution on the forums. I bought this phone from my friend but had to buy the s pen separately since he lost it.
The first pen that I bought from Amazon.com was giving me problems and I ended up returning it because I thought that maybe it was a fake. It was acting like it was touching the screen when it wasn't and when I would use it to scroll up or down on pages, it would just scroll really fast to the top or bottom of the screen. When using the S Note app, it would only write on the screen if I clicked the button in while I was writing, otherwise it would act as though I was erasing.
I just got my second pen in the mail today and it is giving me the same problems. I tried tapping and smacking and all those things but they didn't work. Then I popped off the button to adjust the potentiometer but the inside of my pen looks nothing like the inside of the pens on the videos.
I'm really frustrated that I can't just buy a pen that works properly. Am I doing something wrong? I'm ready to just return this pen and give up on the idea of using an S Pen altogether.
I know you'll pay for it, but if sPen is one of the main features you love about the Note 2, it might be worth it to buy one directly from Samsung. It's not that hard to KIRF official products after all.

EDIT: OP follow this link to the Google Play store. This is an app that resets your sPen (require root) however within the description of the app, the developer mentions switching the handedness of the sPen under settings in order to sort of "calibrate" it.
Read it, try it, good luck!
For those having spen problems.... I know this may sound weird but just take the pen and point it toward a table and hit it a cople times on the tip.. losens the tip up and helps with the touches

Thanks for the suggestion. I returned the pen to Amazon and am waiting for my refund. I think I'm just going to buy a new one directly from Samsung like you suggested before I completely give up on this feature.

This is exactly what I came here looking for: a Bluetooth keyboard to use with my Nexus 7. For $10, I think I'll pull the trigger. The reviews of the first-gen aren't too promising, but it seems like they took care of a few of the concerns voiced in those reviews (the Tab key, etc.). I guess I'll find out whether or not I like it when it gets here. Again, for $10, why not?

Wow... $10 looks like a steal for that keyboard; I bought what looks like the same one for 3 times as much off ebay.
If it is the same one, I like it a lot less than the model for the original Nexus 7. The ridge around it (the silver part) is actually taller for some reason -- though the entire thing is still slimmer thanks to the nexus 7 itself being slimmer -- but the worst part is the fit; it's loose, the tablet slides around (horizontally if you are reading the nexus logo straight on.) (If the "Exact" model DOESN'T have that issue please let me know so I can get one. )
None of that is a deal breaker for me though; I still like the case enough to use it. Keeps the screen protected and clips in and out, then lets you type when you need to.

By the time someone gets it and posts a review, they're probably going to raise the price. They always start off with an introductory promo price like they did with the Poetic case. FWIW, the same keyboard for the old N7 is $18.95.
I should've bought it last night. The price has already doubled & jumped to $19.95.
Damn, I wanted it for 10 bucks. I'll wait for it.

See edit; the issue outlined in the following paragraph has been remedied:
Well I got mine today, and I have to say, I'm kind of disappointed. It fits the tablet perfectly when closed, but it JUST misses the mark when standing it up. It seems like the lip where the bottom part of the tablet hits, to prevent it from falling over, is around half a millimeter too long, the tablet almost catches, but doesn't quite do it. I think just a little bit more of the tablet needs to get underneath it, and it'll catch. I have some pics that I took; I'll upload them later tonight or early tomorrow (I don't usually post from the mobile app).
That aside: I really like this case. It fits the N7 snugly when closed, the keyboard part works well, and it seems like it would protect the tablet if one should need it. I would be extremely satisfied with this keyboard/protector if only the tablet stood in it. I'll try to contact customer service and let them know the critical design flaw so they can remedy it ASAP.
EDIT:
OK, never mind the first paragraph. Figured it out. The little rubber strip down in the groove where the tablet sits to stand up wasn't fully glued down so the tablet was sitting higher than it should have been. After pressing the strip down to be flush with the bottom of the groove, the tablet now stands up. I'm happy now. After using it this weekend I'll edit this post with a review after using it a few days.

Hmm it looks like a nice keyboard but is it stable? Like it looks like a small tap and Itll come off and fall off ...which wouldn't be nice for my Nexus
I ended up getting this Logitech keyboard from Ebay. It doesn't function as a case like the Exact keyboard but it's longer so typing should be more comfortable. Won the auction for $16 including shipping.

I heard that this logitech keyboard was incompatible with the new Nexus 7 and gives repeated inputs because of that bluetooth bug.
Hope to hear from you coz I'm considering this keyboard as well.

Directly? None.
Indirectly (meaning requiring the Bluetooth antenna be on at all times)? Very little in the grand scheme of things.

I received it today and briefly tested it. Didn't experience any repeated inputs.
I really like it so far. Very comfortable to type on and the function keys work well except for the browser key which kind of sucks. I'm wondering if there's any way to map that key to open a 3rd party browser.

Thank you for your input, I might go ahead and buy that
I purchased this keyboard because for $10 why not. The build quality is nice, connecting to bluetooth is simple and it works, it functions well, the rechargeable battery is nice and everything. I especially like that it clips on to the N7 but that's also the 2 issues I have with the keyboard. 1 being it's a bit too small for my comfort and 2 being that the clip right by the space bar makes it difficult to hit the space bar. It's not really the keyboard fault I guess, those 2 things are sacrificed for the convenience of having it clip onto the N7 (though I do have a case already, it makes it easier to be able to carry the KB together with the case, haven't used my N7 outside the house yet however). For what I paid it's great, I wouldn't send it back but it still doesn't make typing that much easier for me. Trust me I'm trying to get better with typing on it, I've typed about those damn quick brown foxes so many times but I just end up making so many typos.
The only other keyboard I was looking at was the $40 Logitech one but it's pretty bulky for a 7 inch tablet (though that's probably the smallest it can get without sacrificing functionality) , it takes 4 batteries and I hear it has issues with the latest Jelly Bean. So whatever, for $10 I'll take what I can get.

Nice, that's a steal at $16 and it looks like it actually functions as a great keyboard. I personally love Logitech products, I haven't seen much negative about that keyboard (aside from the batteries imo, is it 4 AAA? Some reviews said only 2 but some say 4)and I'd probably buy it also if I could find it for around that price. Bulkys not the word so much as not as convenient relative to the Exact.. I originally wrote too big for a 7 inch tablet, carrying it around and everything, though it really needs to be that big for functionality but yea, if you need to actually write some lengthy stuff on the go then it's worth the trade off.

i just got the keyboard in the very first post. I like it alot. the trackpad works nicely, but takes a very light touch to click. that hasn't caused and issues, I'm just used to tapping my laptop trackpad really hard.
it holds the Note very securely, which I like, but you can't charge it without taking it off the keyboard which I don't like. You could flip it around and put the tablet on upside down, but then you can't access the power and volume keys. but anyway, the keys are comfortable and I can type on it as fast as I can on any other keyboard. it's also substantial, a little heavy and solid. I like that.
I wish it had a "return to previous screen" to " button though. and I wish the '"sleep" button wasn't just above the back button. I've hit that a couple times which is irritating. Just something to get used to though. It does a very good job of making the Note into a little laptop. I paid around $40 on ebay and think it was worth it.

If you don't mind, I'd have a few extra questions:
1) How easy/hard is it to remove the tablet from the keyboard/case? Is it tight enough so it won't accidentally fall out if you hold it by the keyboard part when it's closed?
2) Sort of connected to the previous question, is it possible to use the tablet/keyboard combination in as a proper laptop, i.e. on your lap somewhat comfortably?
The other two questions concern the usability of keys, in case you happen to know.
3) Is there any key that can be used for AltGr? I've got a few keys in my keyboard layout that I have to access using this key. I was wondering if the key between Alt and Space - it's some Apple symbol, isn't it? - could function as AltGr? (just for reference, the pictures I'm looking at are here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/161704633039)
4) Do you happen to know, if there's a way of inputting F-keys, e.g. using Fn + number keys? This might only make sense for people who are using Linux on their tablet, but could make quite a difference in terms of how useful the keyboard is (depending on how much you use them).
5) Did I see correctly that there's a forward delete button above backspace (probably accessible in comination with Fn)?
addthere is a Fn key that you can use in combination with the number keys like the function keys on a full keyboard. I don't use them though, so I don't know alot about how they work or differ from a full keyboard. I see the other key you mention, but I don't know if or how you can remap it. Out of the box, it is a toggle for a google search bar.
I like the layout of the keys, it's pretty traditional, however, a big frustration has been that the "back" key is small and right below a "sleep" key. I hit the sleep all the time when I want back, and that's been irritating. But the more I use it, the better I get at hitting back when I want to intsead of sleep. As far as the feel and usability of the keys, I love it. I can keyboard as fast (as long as I don't hit the damn sleep key) on this little board as well as I can on my work laptop.
the track pad works really well, when I remember it's there I'm making the transition from touching the screen all the time to using the trackpad and I like it. I did have to adjust my thumbs a bit to keep from accidentally brushing it. However, there isn't a scroll function, so you still have to scroll by touching the screen.
Fitting the tablet onto the board is pretty tight, but it is getting easier as I use it (I've had the keyboard for about 3 weeks and use it everyday) It is VERY secure though and truly feels like a little laptop. No danger of the Note coming off accidentally. You have to flip the Note upside down to charge it while it's mounted on the keyboard and I worried a little about the pressure on the camera, but so far that doesn't seem to be a problem.
The keyboard is on the heavier side and works excellently on a desk or other hard surface. but on a lap or soft surface like a couch, the Note is still a little top heavy. I use it on the couch in front of the TV all the time at home though and haven't found this to be too much of a problem....but for actually on your lap, it doesn't work very well, at least for me.
Time will tell how well the hinge holds up. It seems relatively sturdy and stable, but it seems like the weak spot to me. So far it's holding up nicely, but in a year or so? We'll just have to see.
I hope that helps a little. Overall, I'm glad I got this keyboard and use it all this the time. My Note lives in it.
Since it came from China, it took a long time to get here, probably 3 or 4 weeks from when I bought on eBay, but well within the timeframe the vendor said.

I just thought I'd try using this keyboard on my lap again, and actually, it's not too bad. I find I kind of rest the heel of my left hand to keep it upright and I can type quite comfortably. I guess it really makes a difference in how you sit and/or how big your lap is!
I do have another keyboard that I've used for a while, I also got on eBay. It is much lighter, but with no hinge. The note just sits in a slot. It works fine, but I wanted to try this one for the more secure mating of the two devices. This one really fills the bill in that regard, so I prefer it, even though the other keyboard had an Android key for "back" in addition to a true back/delete key. I miss that Android back key.
also, just to add, I have a glass screen protector on my Note...this may change the tight fit and also the protection. I do get marks on the screen (protector) from inserting and de-serting the Note. so far, they have not been scratches, but come off with some vigorous wiping with a cloth.
I have found this one while searching. Though it looks like a pretty cool accesssory, but only real world testing can prove that.

Thanks a lot, that was quite helpful in terms of usability! Sounds like a versatile device, but I get the impression that for my use case it might miss some keys, at least/especially if I want to keep working with DE keyboard layout.
For people who can/want to deal with a German keyboard, this one seems to be pretty good judging by the reviews:

Still no hinge, but they claim that it is usable on the lap. They might offer English versions on Amazon UK/US as well in case anyone's interested (vaguely remember seeing something like that).
I'm considering to try fixing together something myself with a simple case, some laptop hinges and a bluetooth keyboard. Don't know if I'll be able to build anything useful and not abhorrently disfunctional, or if/when I'll ever find the time...
