Hi,
Iam trying to un USB Brick my sisters phone. I s-off ed with Revolutionary, installed clockwork recovery, and unzipped Superuser. But now the SD card (I've tried 3) aren't recognised at all.
All the instructions for USB UNbricking start with the command ' 'fastboot oem enableqdm 0' from the cmd (I have the android-sdk-windows/tools folder in the C directory;and just in case downloaded Android SDK - but that doesn't seem to do anything, just hang in cmd window when I launch it).
The thing is when I ever I type 'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0' I get "FAILED status malformed (1 bytes))". I also tried another fastboot command 'fastboot reboot-bootloader' but again got "FAILED.. status malformed (1 bytes))"
I just can't find a solution to this anywhere - if there is one and you know that'd be great, or a link would be excellent.
I'm going crazy here - what can I do to get the fastboot command to work - and then recoginse an sd card. Any ideas? And, my sister is supposed to gettinga train this evening! Doh, why did I try and root her phone...
Help please!

Ah, getting there...
So, got the fastboot oem enableqxdm 0 command to work.
Said OKAY.
Tried the fastboot oem eraseconfig
Said OKAY.
Went into Recovery, tried to flash update.zip; no sd card! Ah damn. (file shows up when exploring sd card on laptop)
So,, thought I try the CID version and I get this info:
INFODevice CID is Super CID
INFOCID is Super CID
INFOBackup CID is ORANG001
INFOSetting->cid::ORANG001
So, now I am confused, what the hell is my CID now?
And can I use the CID Gernerator as in that post.
If it helps, I could see the SD Card fine until I partitioned it (with Easeus - then wiped - then tied again with Mini Tool - both times the parition worked, everthing worked fine when exploring with laptop, just the Desire seemed to throw it and alas, no more sd card recognised - have tried a couple of others too.) Blimey, I've rooted, flashed, etc so many times without a glitch, just didn't think this would happen. Sod;s law it happens to my sister's phone when Itrying to help (she has no tech knowledge!)
SO, again, any help would be great.
Cheers
Just remembered you can try something else..
Code:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
fastboot oem eraseconfig
(this has to enable SD.. if it doesn't then I dunno.. I mean 60% of the time it works every time)
Then flash RMD Recovery (link on my guide), and use the built in USB brick function.
If you're S-OFF flash the recovery.img via fastboot
If you're S-ON fakeflash the recovery.zip via recovery
Also in these situations, try to actually give us the errors recovery shows etc.
Alas, tried both of those commands and nothing happened (said OKAY both times, but when booted into Recovery it still did not recognise SD card, and when booted normally still no joy...)
What next, well I'll get a cheap 1Gb SD card straight out of the box and see if recognises it -not holding out much luck though. After that, try flashing the RMD Recovery via fastboot? and trying the USB Brick option (what do reckon?)
Oh well, we'll see. Would it help if I could flash a new ROM? Can this be done without an SD Card being recoginised? If so, which ROM, and how would I do it (from fastboot?) - had run Insert Coin 1.1.14 on another Desire (still running fine) - flash that even though Sd won' be paritioned, would ot work? Out there at the moment...

(Im a noob)
Tonight I decided to flash Pays-ROM Froyo Sense v1.51 on my phone... So I flashed the 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20 radio and the ROM. My phone does startup but it cant find my SD card, SIM card or detect USB connection, it only charges when i connect to USB.
I normally use r5-desire-root-alt --> recovery-windows.bat to go to recovery, but it does not work since the USB is not working.
tried the Fake Flash Recovery, but since it can not detect my SD card, thats not possible either.
Then I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639&highlight=fake+flash but im not sure I know how to really do... .
"Also, SD card functionality has to work. For this, do 'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0' in fastboot mode."
I really dont see the "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0" option anywhere, and I dont know where and how to type it. :S
Please help me... Thanks!
Found a solution:
RUN --> CMD
Located the my local AndroidSDK/Tools folder.
wrote:
"fastboot oem enableqxdm 0"
While the phone was in fastboot mode.
afterwards my SDcard was working again. I was able to do a fake flash and re-flash the radio plus a different ROM.
Now all is working again.... Pheww... !
Somehow I forgot to test USB... Thats still not working..

Update:
Followed the guide here: http://android.modaco.com/content/h...com/309939/usb-brick-rickrolled-b0rked-fixed/
And solved the problem...
Thanks for the good guides all!
Hello I'm hoping someone here can help.
I partioned my sd card using CWM and then installed Leedroid rom. Upon booting I was unable to see the Sd card in phone I have since repartitoned using Gparted and tried 3 other cards and the phone still doesn't see any off them (so fairly certain not faulty sd card).
I have been been trying to sort this the last couple of days and have probably made matters worse rather than leaving it and getting my head together.
I Have since read about possibly usb bricking the phone if you partion using CWM and flash a GB rom.
I have changed the recovery via fastboot to Amon-Ra. But I also deleted the rom via fastboot thinking I could reflash in fastboot(lack of sleep)
The phone is still s-off .
I have accessed the phone and got the CID (VODA001).
What is my best option?
Just try and flash via RUU or try and fix via adb which I did get set up and saw the phone but have never used before?
It's a dead easy fix, no need to flash an ruu. Follow my instructions here :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1176663 Incidentally, I suggest you read it all before you start and go the easier router of downloading Android Flasher, it's far far easier than downloading the whole SDK and whatnot.
Thanks Parva but I have already tried those commands via fastboot
"fastboot oem enableqxdm 0"
"fastboot oem eraseconfig" or something to that effect as it said that it could possibly fix the sd card problem. But its still there.
I already have the sdk installed but have never used it other than fast boot .
I have got to step 3 on this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639 And got the files on the phone using android explorer.
That's the USB brick fix that you're doing. At this point your problem is getting the SD card to be recognised by the phone isn't it? No need to go down the USB brick fix route until you're certain you have one (which you probably don't), which you can't be until you get the SD card working.
Connect the phone to the PC, boot into fastboot (back button and power) then from the command prompt (from your Fastboot directory) type 'fastboot devices' and see if it responds. If it does then retry the "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0" command. I've never known that not work.
Just booted into fastboot and entered "fastboot devices" It gave me address so its seeing the phone have also run "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0" still not detecting sd card. I downloaded the android flasher utility you mentioned and tried running that.
It gives me the CID (which I had already got and generated a new image mtd0.img)
When i try and flash the mtd0.img the computer gives me an error saying cannot find path
You're putting the cart before the horse with the USB brick fix, you're fixing a problem that may not exist and it still won't fix your main issue which is that your phone will not read the SD card. When you ran the command line "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0" what response did you get? If it completed just fine then try another SD card.
yep it completed fine and have tried with other sd cards. Still no joy
That's not good. I don't know what to suggest at this stage. I do know however that you're wasting your time trying to flash the mtd0 image file, the two problems (unable to read SD and USB brick) are two seperate problems and you can't know whether you have a USB brick until you get the SD card to be read by the phone so don't waste more time on that.
Just have to hope that someone with more knowledge than me comes along because I'm stumped at this stage, sorry.
Just a quick update phone now fixed. I tried a 4th sd card from a friend which mounted after running the enableqxdm command via fastboot. Allowed me to format via amon recovery , transfer rom and flash in one go.
Guess I'm not buying anymore cheap unbranded SD cards from ebay again. Strange that all 3 I tried work fine in other devices.
Well the phone has now stopped seeing the sd card again. If I boot into recovery the card will not mount. I can connect via adb , fastboot, droid explorer (sd card is grayed out). Charges via usb and gives option to usb tether.. Really starting to think hardware fault.
Flashed stock RUU fault still there getting .Collected for repair tomorrow.
Hi,
Over the last year I have been rooting and flashing roms on both the HTC DZ and the Aria and have not had any real troubles. However...
Recently picked up a used Desire A8181 that was flashed and had CM7 with 2.3.7 G installed with CWM backups but "desired" to flash a newer ROM with either 2.1+3 Sense or Sense 3.5.
So over the course of the last week, been looking at alpharev, hboots and all of the stuff one might need to flash such a ROM. Well today ran into a problem. I cannot tell you exactly what I did but where I am is not a good place.
So, need some help...
1. I can boot into recovery and currently have cwm-4.0.1.4 loaded
2. Using Fastboot I can flash an .img file either a new bravo_alphaspl.img or a recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.7-bravo.img file using AndroidFlasher.exe or using fastboot.exe
3. I cannot get
a. revolutionary.exe to see my phone, it states WAITING FOR DEVICE
b. abd shell or device or any adb command to work
4. I cannot get a stock OTA RUU file to flash and when I do, I get the errors shown in the attached png files.
5. I cannot access my SDCARD and get this error can't mount /SDCARD and along with this the error /dev/block/mmcblk0
I have
- stock hboot
- PVT3 S-OFF
- hboot 6.93.1002
So looking for some tips or trick to get my ROM reloaded which I suspect is related to corrupt storage on the phone?
Anyway, thoughts welcomed.
Thanks,
malloy0
UPDATE...I also reviewed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275632 and many others, NONE addresses the issue of not being able to access the SDCARD. Also, I have 6 different SDCARDs and they all work fine in my DZ. I have also prepd and formated using Gparted and booted via Linux.

SD card brick , u can look at this thread
these commands through adb should solve it (u said adb is not finding ur device, make sure u have the drivers installed). i had this sd card issue at least 3-4 times and these 2 lines always saved me
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0

Thanks!! Will try in a few days. Busy for work traveling. Not much time to test.
Note on the adb drivers? I assume that given I connect my DZ and my WinPC and it works to access the DZ phone that these drivers mean they are installed? Using XP SP3. Also, I accessed my A8181 yesterday no trouble, so...assume the adb drivers are installed. I do note when the Desire is plugged in, sometimes get the request for the Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM (or something like this?) driver, but no luck finding this. So hit cancel and move on. Did not have this issue yesterday.
Ok...on the commands, will try more later.
RE: fastboot commands?
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
do I need to have these enableqxdm and rebootRUU files where I have the fastboot.exe file?
Spent way to much time searching and trying to fix myself, time to get some help.
Thanks again.
These are not files, they are just 2 commands to fix the usb brick. So you only need fastboot.exe.
To get the drivers you have to download the Android SDK, but I think that these drivers will work as well.

WOW! Amazing. I messed with this for hours and hours and did search after search, but did not locate the suggested fix above, but flashed and WAA-LAA!!
It worked like a charm.
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
Thank you!
Hi everybody,
I've been looking on the forum for over a week, and I still haven't been able to resolve my problem.
I tried flashing my HTC Desire with a ROM (on Rom manager), but it didn't work (it always rebooted).
I stupidly deleted all the data on the phone, cache, dalvik cache, etc.... so no Rom is on my phone now.
I now think my phone is USB bricked (it has all the symptoms such as not being properly recognized on the computer).
I can turn on the phone, the buttons work, I can go into clockwork mod BUT I can't mount my SD card in clockwork (so I can't flash anything through that).
I would really appreciate and help you have to offer! Thanks!

I guess you just need to run two fastboot commands:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0 (unblock your sd-card)
fastboot oem eraseconfig (fix misc partition)

I already looked at that page and tried what you said and it didn't work, I also tried flashing the PB99IMG.zip but that also didn't work.
I then needed to do the process on the bottom of the page, but it requires me to use a file explorer app, and I don't have any ROM installed
any ideas?
are you sure you ran the fastboot commands correctly?
1) Make sure you have fastboot set up, if you don't, unzip the attached file into c:\
2) turn on your phone in FASTBOOT (either hold BACK and POWER, or select FASTBOOT from the Hboot menu)
3) plug the phone in via usb
4) run cmd and type
Code:
cd\
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
fastboot oem eraseconfig
Do you see your device in fastboot devices? If yes then follow bortak's guide. If not, you might have a problem

Hi,
"fastboot oem enableqxdm 0" works fine, but when I do "fastboot oem eraseconfig" I get the following message:
... INFO[ERR] Command error !!!
OKAY
It is written that I'm connected on fastboot USB on my phone, and fastboot detects a device as "SH09XPL05866", that I suppose is my Desire.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Double-checked you wrote the command correct?

Yup, I wrote it correctly.
I looked at your guide, and I'm guessing it won't work anyways because I'm S-ON.
Is there any other way to un-USB brick it (or put it back on S-OFF)?
Checked if CWM can mount SD card only with the first command?

Nope, I get "error mounting SD card"... does anybody know where this could be coming from?
any other ideas?
A) you haven't got an sd-card in your phone
B) your sd-card is dead

Thanks bortak, I tried with another sd card and I can mount in clockworkmod.
Though the other sd card isn't dead, I can read it using a micro sd adapter...
thanks a million

sir you are the greatest after weeks of searching i have been able to root my phone all thanks to you sir
A few days ago my HTC didn't boot anymore, so I wiped everything. When I rebooted my phone I was stuck at the alpharev boot image. Luckily recovery and fastboot is still working, but whenever I am in recovery mode and try to mount my SD card it says " unable to write to ums lunfile". I've tried multiple SD cards and none of them are being recognized.
When I'm in fastboot and type "fastboot devices", the command prompt gives this:
SH15CPL01222 - fastboot. I think this means my computer recognizes my device, but only in fastboot mode.
Is there any way I can fix this? Can I push a ROM via fastboot?
Thx in advance
try using fastboot commands -
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
fastboot oem eraseconfig
what recovery do u have? maybe try flashing 4ext recovery via fastboot and see if theres any change, also try putting a rom on ur sdcard using a card reader. im not sure but its worth a shot. also go read bortaks guide, Desire Q&A/stickies (first post)
