Hello
If this has already been asked im sorry, i have searched and only found one thing on this which wasnt anything really to do with this.
I have come from a SGS2 and wondered can you use odin to flash the tar files you can donload from google, since this phone is samsung and has an odin mode.
Like i said once again sorry if im gonna get shot down in flames, hence why i have posted this here, and also if its in the wrong place aswell im sorry.
Be gentle as this is my first post

[HOWTO] Go Back to Stock
OK THANKS
ok heres the deal thanks guys.....i used a insucure kernel to flash....(root).....then did a nandroid....before rom.....but i dont know if having a inscure kernel is stock....plus the big one i cant get rid of superuser(cant find it in astro) plus what is this counter thing in download mode it used to say 0 now it says 1 ...i was told a jig resets this back to zero? is haveing a insecure kernerl really stock? it says stock but can they tell if if the kernel is insucure? or by this counter in download mode? did i do right by doing a nandroid before rom? if so is this nandroid the closet thing to stock? i flashed a stock kernel but is this the same thing as the insecure one.................i know this is alot of questions but like i said the g2x was far more easier to deal with or my previous galaxys.......please dont bash me.....
Greetings XDA peeps,
I just purchased the Gnex last week and have loved the stock rom but felt the need for more customization (Not sure why im saying this as it is a given.. )
I found the Wugfresh Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit v1.3 and studied how to use it and read through the post/instructions for a week until I fully understood what was going on and flashed Codename Android http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1479569
I installed my proper drivers and used device manager to get everything straightened away, and made sure fastboot and adb were recognized before doing anything ( I should probably get educated on what exactly ADB and fastboot actually mean...googling now)
Since then I haven't been able to boot my phone and have no idea how to revert back to stock or push the original contents onto my device to just simply start from square one. I know how to do it with ODIN (or I did on my SGS2 Sprint)
For the love of god someone shed some light on this situation please =] I did search btw..couldn't find what I was looking for.
Still new to this, just restored my CWM backup and my phone finally booted.
I guess I overlooked something somewhere...I never checked to see what kernel that rom required as I should still be on stock but I have to find out how to check which kernel I am on.
Im assuming the majority of roms require the stock kernel though?

I am trying to return my glaxy s3 back to stock and it just won't work. I downloaded the stock firmware from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737855
I put the phone in download mode
open odin
click pda and search for the file.
First it wouldn't find the file, so I checked my download folder and found it
Samsung-Updates.com-GT-I5500_TIM_1_20111103150347
It seemed fishy, so I went back and redownloaded the file again making sure I was getting the SGH-T999 stock
Tried odin again with no luck at odin seeing the file.
I opened the file and found this file
I5500XXKJ3_I5500XXKJ3_I5500XXTIMKJ3_HOME
Odin sees this file but as soon as i hit start I get an error on the phone saying
Unsupported dev_type
SO what is going on here?

Easy put it in the box. Now it's stock
Try renaming the file ...I think sometimes its zipped...or its named ***.tar.zip so either unzip to get the tar or remove the .zip
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
That's not the right tar file. It needs to be t-mobile SGH-T999

I'm so tired of seeing these posts in development! The OP's know very well this is the wrong place, but they think their problem is more important then anyone else's, so this is the best place to get quick attention. READ THE RULES, OR DON'T POST ANYWHERE AT ALL!

For being a senior member, you need to relax and just report these things. No need to flip out like you did.
@OP. Before you post, check what section your in. Development is straight development, not asking how T return to stock.

I wouldn't consider that flipping out. There was no name calling, no degrading of anyone, and definitely no foul language used. It happens so frequently, that if the questions are just answered, then it encourages others to do the same. I'm not the XDA police, and I gladly & politely help new users all of the time in any way possible, but if the rules are continued to be disregarded then there's not much point in having them. I think there's a difference between flaming /trolling someone and telling them something firmly so that they won't forget it.

You may not consider flipping out since you typed it, an its your post. In my eyes you slightly did.
If you have a problem with something, just report it an leave it alone.
Also if you want to continue this PM me.
I rooted my GS4 yesterday and had no issues at all until i tried to flash a MOD to obtain wireless hotspot, but what i didnt notice was the MOD was for a Sprint version GS4. I know know if thats exactly what made my phone brick but im pretty positive because it was during the reboot that the phone got stuck on the TMO screen and apparently remaining soft-bricked. I spent the rest of the night and all of today reading and researching how to fix it myself before coming here to ask for help, so please bare with me.
I have already attempted to flash the official stock firmware using Odin, but it displays an error everytime saying it failed and something about AUTH. Sorry if im sounding vague, i am on a back up phone to use the internet and forgot to right down the exact message.. Anywho, i tried wiping everything and redoing the process and i even tried to flash the appropiate PIT file that i found but it still displays an error and says failed because of some AUTH or SEC problem.
Ive been at this diligently for almost 12 hours. My brain is filled with all these suggestions and methods that i have tried to use to restore my phone back to factory, but none of them have worked. I can still get into recovery and all that, so im assuming that there is still good chance i could fix the problem?
Also i am starting to get myself more and more confused about whether the firmware i downloaded is the right one i need for my phone, it seemed so at first but now i see theres TONS of region codes that can determine the firmware version?
Sorry if im all over the place, but i just dont know which step to take next..
I appreciate any help that is given, and im even willing to pay (some) bucks or maybe even (btc) for someone to walk me through what i need to do or what im doing wrong.
Thanks in Advance
Have you followed every single thing in the return to stock thread? Including updating your drivers, using the USB cable that came with your phone, running Odin as admin, etc?

No i havent tried that threads strategy, although i have done the same exact steps but only difference i see is that the firmware file name is:
M919UVUAMDL
While the one i was trying to use earlier was:
I9505XXUAMDM
This is where im getting very confused because i cant find a cut and dry way of knowing which firmware is the correct one..

You do have the T-Mobile SGS4, correct? Any files with I9505 in the name are for the international version, which is what you flashed (not the right file). All of ours will mention SGH-M919, M919, or jfltetmo in the file name. Pull the one in the thread I linked above and push that.
Crossing your fingers while doing so couldn't hurt...
Edit: I'd recommend using the "Download UVUAMDL Official TAR" in that thread as well, not the "stock tar (original)", since the MDL is official.

Thanks so much, i feel stupid for not realizing the difference between the two haha. Im d/l the firmware from the thread you referenced as we speak so i definitely will keep my fingers crossed and let you know how it turns out!
Thanks again. Im not sure how to give a thanks on here or credit for you help but your help is definitely appreciated.
error post
If you can get into download mode i would suggest flashing stock with that then rerooting that way the program downloads all of the nessacary stuff on its own.

I did manage to get to root junkies files but can't download because of the stripped down browser. Blocks all attempts at web search. Sense this update was November does that mean in screwed? Any help would be appreciated. Oh, no access to PC...makes this much harder I bet.
I want to believe that sense I can at least get to net there's gotta be hope.
1st.... just 5 posts under this, some one has alreay posted how to do this ..
you WILL need a PC to complete it... which ever way you choose.... theres a reason FRP is not 'easy' to get past !
either the adb method i explianed via PM (flash engboot, via odin, and then use FRP_S7FanClub.com adb method via ADB)
or the thread that i linked abbove, thats 5 threads down from this one at present when you psted ! so you clearly did not "coulndt find it in any forum" youve not even looked in this forum let alone others !
Well clearly the post 5 post down was edited by a mod saying the method didn't work. I have no computer at the moment and all the posts I searched were about trying with out a PC. I also have a different version so I thought starting a thread could help me and others. Thanks for taking the time to respond but please dont tell me I didn't search. I have been on the net for a long time and know how to search. Sometimes using this cheap ass phone makes it a bit more difficult. I also dont see the harm in starting this thread, it is after all why this sites here is it not? But I do appreciate the help.

Yes I closed it as it did not work tested myself I did find a easy way to do it..... BTW the info is not on the web activity for this device took me several hours to find and come up with a working method pasted together from several...
Oops sorry, my bad, didnt see that it was now a closed thread ..
Well the engboot and adb commands I found from s7fans.com seems to have sorted mine out
Although when issuing the adb commands it looked like they errored out !...
But either way, mines now past the frp warning...
What was your method ?...
