Hello by the way lol

You can't flash your Radio without having ENG S-OFF. Though I believe you can with the PD98IMG method I don't think it is recommended and is only used to downgrade. Just use the tool in this thread for a very easy one click ENG S-OFF. Then go here and pick your radio. Finally follow this guide here to flash your Radio.

Radios are generally only included in RUU Roms because they are flashed using the PD98IMG method. To my knowledge, I believe that's the only way you can flash a Rom and at the same time having it also flash the Radio. If you flash your Rom via CWM for example, it will not touch the Radio and thus you must use Fastboot to flash the Radio, and to use Fastboot you must have ENG S-OFF.

Note: This application is no longer being updated and is only recommended for use on Froyo builds.

ENG S-OFF shouldn't have any negative effects on your device as far as I know.

Hey guys, I loaded up the Visionary app, and
"tap temproot, then attempt permroot now. Your device will reboot."
But now my device (HTC DHD) just keep rebooting over and over. When it starts up each time, Visionary will start up and say "attempting to root", and then the device reboots. How do I get out of this cycle?

http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Ace:_Rooting_&_CyanogenMod
Try with this, I done it without any problems, just use Charging mode and USB Debugging on

Turns out the big screwup is the instruction to "tap temproot". I tapped the selection to "Temproot on Boot", which is wrong. They mean to tap "Temproot now".
So I have the radio updated now. I guess I'll just wait and see how ARHD operates!

Absolute nonsense!!!!!!!!! You never get S-OFF with unrevoked. Only AlphaRev, AlphaRevX or Revolutionary will set your phone S-OFF.

Try revolutionary ! It will S-Off your phone and install the revolutionary recovery. From then on you can flash other hboots or recovery's
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
revolutionary is not working with hboot 1.03 (1.02 and lower)
I think the only way is downgrade(if possible, don't know the way) and get root/s-off on lower hboot

There is your problem. HTC official method doesn't give you the same freedom unofficial methods do. As far as I know there is no turn back yet, so bad luck for you, inform yourself better next time. htcdev gives you root but leaves hboot locked.
from HTC site:
htc said:
Why is my security still on (S-On) after I have unlocked my bootloader?
Your device is shipped with Security on (S-ON) to protect your system software configuration (such as the bootloader, radio, boot, recovery, system and others). After you have unlocked the bootloader, however, you will have lifted the restrictions on boot, recovery and system. This means you can customize boot, recovery and system images on your phone as you desire. You can easily see that you have successfully unlocked the bootloader by looking at the top of the screen when entering the bootloader screen. Security is left on to protect things like the radio, and SIM lock.
Click to collapse
You can't change your bootloader because you are S-ON and you can't get S-OFF because methods to get S-OFF are based on original bootloaders, by installing HTC's new bootloader you have locked you out of getting S-OFF. HTC does only give you access to boot, recovery and system, is not full S-OFF and that includes a locked bootloader.
yeah you basically screwed yourself by using the official method. Ironic isnt it?
via xda app
Not sure why all the peripheral discussion around here makes it sound as if he's bricked his phone.
OP, I understand you've "successfully" unlocked the bootloader and want to flash cwmr. In that case, the solution is to download a .img image of cwmr, and flash it using the fastboot program:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Or use any of the GUI tools for fastboot.
For all practical purposes, unlocked bootloader ought to be enough for you.
ok problem sovled
This method i have folow with some changes.
1) Unlock phone via HTC official process (registration required)
You are now unlocked S-ON but have no root access on the existing rom, however by doing it the official way you dont need to flash the radio anyway. I used the following steps to get CM7 installed on mine.
2) Downloaded ClockworkMod Recovery 5 (GSM not CDMA)
download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-bravo.img
(i have download instead dl.dropbox.com/u/4518713/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.7.111102-j_r0dd_mod-bravo.zip this from this topic)
(sorry - forum wont let me post urls yet)
3) reboot phone into fastboot
and plug in the usb
4) In the environment you set up for the HTC unlock process enter
(this means put the *.img file you downloaded in this file: C:/Android (with adb, fastboot)
open cmd, type:
"cd c:\Android"
"fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-bravo.img" OR "fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.7.111102-j_r0dd_mod-bravo.img"
5)unplug the usb cable from your phone.
select bootloader press power to select
wait 20 sec
select recovery press power to select
if the flash was successful you will se the ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.0.2.0 OR 5.0.2.7
6) To navigate into ClockWorkMod Recovery
Use trackpad, not power to select
Yes, that's the age old method of flashing via hboot. Nothing new about it.
Android flasher can also be used to flash recovery right? And isn't it much easier?

Yeah Android Flasher is a useful tool as I use it myself but I still believe that the manual way of doing it using command is the best way to go specially if you are having issues.

Warranty Still Possible?

My desire is rooted and s-off'd.
Is it possible to revert everything and remove clockwork and remove s-off so I can send my phone in for repair?
Searched around for about 2 hours and I'm led to believe the RUU for my provider (telus) will be able to reflash the phone back to factory settings and make my phone s-on?
RUU is the way.
via xda app
So let me just confirm after I run the RUU, there will be no record of all my crazy flashing endevears and telus will let me use my warranty?

In jmcclue signature you can see the all things root guide. After clicking it go to rooting 2.2.1 and complete the downloads and prerequisites. Thereafter you will be adb and fastboot ready with htc/hboot drivers installed.
You only need to downgrade hboot. All others will be changed by the RUU.

Volume rocker doesn't work, any way to install a custom ROM?

Hi, I recently (yesterday) bought an HTC Desire. My last phone was stolen, so I needed a nice android phone ASAP. The phone I bought was used, and it was dirt cheap, however, as advertised, the volume rocker doesn't work at all, but it does feel well placed, and the part itself (the exterior) isn't broken, and clicks nicely. I was wondering either:
1) Is this an easy replacement?. I can open the phone and do the fix, but if it's not too obvious, I can't tell which part of the electronic board needs to be changed.
2) Is there any way to flash a custom rom without having to boot into recovery (vol-down+power).
And as of a last option, I guess I could flash the 2.3 RUU from HTC. but I've read there are several drawbacks (SMS mainly. All the bloatware not included I think it's a benefit, not a harm). would anyone recommend me upgrading to that one?
Bonus: If I do flash the 2.3 from HTC, I read it has a modified version of Sense 1.0. But, does anyone know if it comes with the 2.1 sense notification bar?. (the one with quick settings, which is a feature I can't spend a day without using).
Thanks in advance.
-Jesús.

Also flash the root package to get root.

Thanks for the help!, I'm already running a custom ROM . I did get a bootloop trying, and I was almost crying on the inside, haha, I could adb a command just between a boot and the other.. and got around it. But I didn't know about the back+power for fastboot, and I even searched for that particular thing. Good to know!.
thanks!
How?
I had that issue some time ago as well.
Sadly, it did not work for me to get out of the bootloop with adb commands, so I would be interested in how exactly you did it.
I had to send my phone back on warranty (now I do not have any anymore^^)
so in case i experience that problem again, it would be helpful for me to know

when i rooted the first time my wildfire i have used this guide.i am not familiar with fastboot and flashing a recovery with fastboot but take a lokk at this guide.it might help you.for me it worked just perfect.and its easy.took me about 10 minutes to root and flash a custom rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1145035
please read everything carefully before do anything.noone is responsible if something happens to your phone.
I'm no expert but I believe that your device is not rooted. It is S-offed which should mean that the write protection is deactivated which allows the device to be rooted, but it's not yet fully rooted.
I followed the guide linked by gregoris and it worked perfectly. You now need to know if you have Froyo or Éclair.
If your android version is 2.2.1 then you first need to downgrade it to 2.1 (Step 1 from the "Rooting your Device" section from the guide).
If you've already got Éclair, then you should be good by starting at step 1 to install the drivers and then follow step 3 onwards (from the "Rooting your device" section). But still in case, you better find a guide for éclair before trying anything.
(I'm not responsible for anything and again, I'm quite a newbie to this rooting thing).
Theres no need to downgrade anything, the downgrade is needed to make revolutionary run he's already done that.
At the end of revolutionary it asks if you want to install clockworkmod recovery, i presume you did but if not run revo again and choose yes to it, that will install cwm recovery 4.0.1.4 which isnt the latest but it'll do for now......
Download cm7 and place it on your sd card.
After that boot into recovery from hboot and first run a backup, then wipe data and cache, go to advanced option in the main menu and wipe dalvik cache, then go back to install from zip and find your cm7 zip, select it choose yes and let it flash.
Cm7 comes pre-rooted, infact all custom roms are pre rooted, to root a completely stock rom you need to flash the superuser binary.

Or could it be because of the radio (baseband?)
Right now I have 12.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10

yes, most probably, but it isn't just as easy as comparing the versions... (you have the newest one btw) - the problem most of the time seem to be some "dirty" things (left overs, things messed up, ...) because the radio resides on its own partition which can't be wiped/cleared/formatted.
Working solutions are a) flash a different radio or b) install a sense based custom ROM (both reported with and without success - so it's a bit trial & error). Did your GPS and WiFi work?

i don't think that the radio is your problem.try to flash the RemPuzzle.i flashed it some days ago and for me it's the most stable rom that i tried.
plus you have the sense (if you miss the sense with other custom roms.) try flashing rempuzzle.i believe you are gonna like it.

Well, radio problems with AOSP ROMs are a common issue after rooting/s-off'in. Most of the time all goes well, sometimes GPS doesn't work and sometimes it might go even worser. But it's not a major problem as it could be solved -see above- most of the time

like I said: well known with AOSP ROMs - sense ROMs seem not to have the issue that often. If I'm not mistaken flashing a sense ROM even works as a solution if you aren't S-OFF.

sometimes yes - the problem is that you can't flash a radio when s-on so this is your only chance to solve any radio/baseband issues...
Any fixes for baseband?
When I install the RemPuzzle rom, it's the same process with revolutionary, because the one explained in the video looks different.
