[Q] Invites via Email app not displaying in Calendar - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Wondering if anyone else has this issue.
I use the email app for work email via Exchange.
If i get a meeting invite there are a couple of small tabs in the email once opened: Message and Invite. Clicking on the invite tab shows me a page saying 'Calendar invite' then a box saying 'View in calendar' and options to accept/decline etc.
The problem i'm having is that if I hit 'View in calendar' it takes me to the correct day in the calendar but doesn't show me what time the meeting is at! Very frustrating. The only way I can see when an invite is for is to accept it. Which obviously I don't want to do without knowing what time it is.
Please can someone else using the Email app check to see if this happens for them too?
Used to prefer it in Sense on my Desire when it pulled the full invite info straight into the email itself. Much simpler.

Nobody else noticed this issue? Must be others out there using the Email app with their work email...

I noticed this too. I don't know what the answer is, but I have noticed it.
Also, the detail of the appointment is very squashed and not easy to see. Any idea on how to expand this?
(The red section is the calendar invite detail)

I too have seen this. Frustrating, I agree...

Is it me only or this seems to be now fixed?

Frankly, I check my calendar invites in the Email app:
That seems fine to me.

I think this was not exactly the point of the original post. You would need to go to the invite tab and see if when checking your calendar, the event is there.
My two cents.

Yup that wasn't my point. And it's still not fixed.
The 'view in calendar' takes me to the correct day but doesn't indicate a time in the calendar app.
Most invites I get don't details of the meeting in the main email - depends whether they're sent from a Mac etc.

Two Exchange Mail bugs [16 may]

Hi guys,
I have noticed a strange thing with Exchange mail app. When I send my e-mail it does send it but, however, saves the message as a draft as well. After some time my DRAFTS folder is becoming a copy of my SENT ITEMS which is a bit annoying. Does anyone experience the same / has any cure for that?
Second "bug" is when I try to reply a facebook notification. Now, when I post a photo on FB and someone leaves a comment ot that, I receive an E-Mail notification like "John has commented on your photo...", and in the message body it says: REPLY TO THIS E-MAIL TO ANSWER THE COMMENT. It has always worked for me using Outlook, webmail, WinMobile-outlook-mail (and it still does) to hit the "Reply" button, type smth thus leaving a comment. However, no comments are left if I try to "reply" on "John's comment" using my Desire.
Any clues?
Using HTC default Exchange mail app.
anyone?...
I guess the two problems may be related. Are the Facebook replies going out through your Exchange account?
To diagnose the first problem, can you see if the Exchange server is logging any errors? Get your system administrator (if it's not you) to check the application event logs, while you're doing a send/receive.
I have the first problem - intermittently any mail I send is also saved to the drafts folder and its a little annoying. Personally I don't believe the second problem is related in any way at all...

I have the first issue when using my office email account. We use Lotus Notes and the interface between the device and the Domino server is Commontime software, using Activesync client on the device.
Commontime advise that this is only an issue with Android 2.1 devices as the outgoing mail is not stamped with a Posteddate field.
I also have a Hotmail account on the Desire, and I do not get the "sent -> drafts" syndrome with that account.
Deleting and re-adding accounts is fixing problems for some people. I would suggest delete, reboot, re-add.
Already tried that but didn't work.

--or, in the case of Lotus, the logs from Commontime.
Sometimes answers or new mails ends up staying in draft.
I've found out that on some e-mail addresses it takes the domain away.
[email protected] becomes [email protected]
On both answers and new ones. And it can be one out of two...
Any ideas?

Responding to meeting invites?

Not sure if this is android or the email app problem. the sgs does not allow me to respond to meeting invites. I have to save to calendar manually. Anyone knows?
I have the same problem. Could not find a way to send an invite for an appointment, either. The email client needs some polishing ;-)
Here is my wishlist
1. Notification about incoming mails even if they are sorted into a subfolder (Server-side rules with my Exchange Server)
2. Improvement in how the folders are displayed. I've got subfolders of subfolders. All that is not presented very well. Maybe have separated views for folders and emails.
3. The invites issue solved as mentioned above.
4. I would like to have unread messages to be better distinguished from already read mails.
Maybe froyo is bringing all that to us
Have a good night!
Hu guys,
i do have the same issue here. No possibility to accept meeting request.
Works fine on HTC Desire ;(
I guess this is a general problem with the build in email client of the sgs. I read in other forums that will be solved by froyo.
In the meantime i am using Touchdown Exchange Client. This client looks great the push mail function works properly - the only issue is the low performance.

I believe XWJM1 comes with that features, but the same feature not available at XWJM5.
Hey guys I am not sure if this will help you but I too had the same problem I downloaded the app from the market called ICS-Bot and it reads the attachment coming in. I am not sure what email account you are using but what I did was have any emails going to my corporate or/pop3 account from my work and I set a rule up that will forward any email with the subject titled Meeting in it and have it forwarded to my gmail account and once it arrives it will be read as an .ics file where you can preview it and set it up on your calendar. The downside is that you cannot edit or send a response back but you can inout the event onto your calendar and set reminders, I know it is not what we want but at least you have the event in your calendar, hope this helps.

[Q] Old/read emails are showing up as unread

This has been bothering me for the longest time and I just can't figure it out. Hopefully someone else can shed some light.
I use k9 email with my webmail through network solutions. I have it set to never delete messages when I receive them, only when I remove them from either inbox. This is so that I can get them on both my phone and laptop. Well I constantly have new email reminders popping up, but when email is opened, it is emails that I have already read, usually older than a week.
Anyone else run into this problem and is there any way to fix i?. This is very annoying. As far as I can remember, this behavior was the same with the default mail app as well.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Gmail - Unable to Delete email? It's only Archiving (to All Mail)

I've done my due diligence (searching for HOURS on end), so I know this has been discussed many times but I still have not seen any sort of solution or progress on how to fix the issue.
Here is the issue: Gmail/Google accounts in WP7, when you press the Trash-can icon to delete your email(s), it does not actually move the email to the 'Trash' folder (or how Gmail understands it, the 'Trash' label). It simply removes the 'Inbox' label but still keeps the message under 'All Mail'.
I've tried everything - set up my email account as an ActiveSync account and tried deleting, going to my Gmail (or any other of my email accounts that resides on Google Apps) account settings via the web browser and try fiddling with the Advanced IMAP options, but nothing.
Does anyone have any solution for this? Unfortunately, this is pretty much a dealbreaker for me with WP7 - I just purchased the HTC Trophy. I want to really love the OS/device (and I do love the OS) but being able to properly delete my Google/Gmail emails is crucial.
I've heard some people, as a temporary stop-gap, to just use the "Move to Folder" and move the email message to [Gmail]\Trash, but I don't see that folder in WP7. Any ideas on this?
Any help or insight in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
There is no solution (as in setting you can change in WP7 or on google.com) that changes this behavior. The only real option is to occasionally log in to your email account on the website and purge old mail from all mail. That's what I do about once every couple of months.
Thanks for the response. That's a real bummer. Do you or anyone know if this is something Microsoft plans on fixing? Basically it just entails making the Delete/Trash Can -> Remove Inbox Label + Add Trash Label to the message.
Also, do you know how I could view the [Gmail]\Trash folder/label? When I try to browse All Folders, it doesn't show up. Any ideas?
Thanks.

You should be able to change imap settings in gmail. There's a few articles I found, but they're a bit old, and I'm apparently too new of a member to link. I've gone ahead to write a few instructions.
1. Go to settings in your gmail
2. Go to the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab
3. In IMAP access, under "When I mark a message in IMAP as deleted:" select "Auto-expunge off"
4. In IMAP access, under "When a message is marked as deleted and expunged from the last visible IMAP folder:" select "Move the message to the Trash" or "Immediately delete the message forever"
I'm still trying to figure out how exactly the behavior works on my own device. From my understanding, by doing this, you'll send deleted message to the trash rather than archive. It appears that you lose the "instant" server update (so you might have emails that you delete on your phone stay in your inbox as unread for a while).
**edit for further research - It appears that your message will only be deleted if there are no other labels for it. Apparently [gmail]all mail counts as a label. So what the heck did I tell you to do?
Thanks for the reply. I don't understand what your last part meant..the part about your edit for further research. Please clarify. Thanks.

This, and it's the same for IOS, not a WP7 issue.
I read numerous guides looking for a solution but there isn't one. If an email exists in another view, i.e. "All Mail" then it won't be deleted.
After using IOS and WP7 this was one of the main reasons for moving to Android. It may seem a bit extreme but I hate having email I don't need. Everything gets read and deleted.
What you say is true in a technical sense, but it misses the underlying issue. Gmail has one label, Gmail/Trash, that is special. Any email that is sent there automatically has all other labels removed. However, it is up to an email client to apply the label. For example, the Thunderbird email client on Windows does just that. If I read an email in my Inbox, and then click the Delete button, Thunderbird sends and IMAP notification to Gmail to apply the Gmail/Trash label to the message, and it is instantly gone from both my Inbox and All Mail. And the Gmail/Trash label is automatically purged after 30 days.
The problem with WP7 and iOS is that they don't (and possibly can't) send the same notification. All they currently do is notify Gmail to remove the Inbox label. And, as has already been noted, the fact that the email is still in All Mail causes it to be retained on the server.
Thanks for the info, guys. I realize and understand that the culprit is the WP7 mail client, not Gmail.
As a temporary workaround (I am seriously hoping they fix this.. you guys should visit http://windowsphone.uservoice.com/f...eting-email-in-gmail-really-delete-?ref=title to vote for adding this feature), I created a new label called "WP7 Trash". From now on, when I want to "delete" mail, I simply move to to that folder/label in the WP7 mail client, and then anytime down the road I can log into my accounts and just delete all the mail in that folder/label.
Kind of kludgy, but it's the only thing I can think of...
Let me know your thoughts.
After futzing around a bit more on the internet, i've found that some people are able to get the desired "trash button = delete" action if you add your gmail account as an Exchange account instead of as a "Google Account". I haven't tried it yet, but since it isn't dealing with Gmail's odd IMAP implementation, perhaps you will get better results.
Setting up your Gmail account as an Exchange/ActiveSync account doesn't work - I've tested it several times and nothing. I do have my accounts set up as Exchange/ActiveSync because I've heard that it uses less battery than using the "Add Google Email Account" option in WP7.
The only temp-solution I've found is the create a WP7-Trash label and move messages to that folder (for later deletion once you log into the Gmail web interface).
If anyone CAN get the Delete = Trash working on ActiveSync/Exchange setups, by all means let us know!

[Q] Can't open Google Inbox attachments

I recently got the Fire Phone and installed Google Play and all my apps from there. Everything went surprisingly well, the only issue I see is the inability to view attachments through Google Inbox. The Gmail app displays them without an issue, but Inbox does not nor can I see the thumbnails of pictures in the inbox view. Is anyone else having this issue? What version of Inbox are you using if you're not seeing this problem? I'm running 4.6.1 with Google Now launcher. Thanks for the help.
I too would like an answer to this. Unfortunately though Inbox is not available for schools which would let me see my school gmail. I do like fire phones email app with integrated inbox which allows me to view multiple accounts in one inbox.
Notification don't seem to work either
I see there weren't many replies... After a few more days of using it, I realized the notifications are not working either. Even though I have notifications enabled on both Inbox and Gmail, I never get notifications (I should say almost never, I saw them a couple of times). The only way I get notified for emails is if I enable the local Email app which I don't really want to use.
My question is, has anybody gotten Inbox and/or Gmail to work reliably with notifications? If you did, did the attachments show up in Inbox? I just want to know if it's worth spending more time trying to get this to work.
