[Q] Question about updating to 2.34 - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK I have a Rogers Play. I flashed my Rogers Play to stock UK 2.32 to get root because i lost it after i updated to 2.3. So then i did the over the phone update and i had 2.3. now it's asking me to update to 2.4. If i update to 2.4 would I be loosing the UK version of the firmware and going back to Rogers firmware?

If your on the UK firmware you'll still be on UK firmware after the ota update. I'm on Rogers too but I haven't been on their firmware pretty much since I bought it when it came out they too slow with updates. And now I've unlocked my bootloader so I don't ever worry about not having root

did you use Flashtool? Does UK version work on Rogers Play perfectly (differences between US-r800a and UK-r800i versions)?

[Q]Updates using R800at on T-mobile?

I am using a R800at on T-Mobile, stock (though it is sim unlocked). If AT&T actually ever releases any updates for the R800at, will I be able to get those OTA or will I have to use PC Companion or SEUS? If I did have to use one of those programs with a PC, will it keep my apps/settings, or will it wipe everything during the update process? Thanks!

[Q] Flash Bell rom over Rogers rom?

I could not find an answer to this. I have a Rogers GS3 that I unlocked and now use on Bell. The recent OTA to I747MVLLH1 installed no problem with the Rogers bloat intact. (I have them frozen however).
My question is can I flash the Bell version over top and will this make my phone Bell branded so to speak going forward?
Seems this is the newest OTA for Bell: I757MUGLH2

Thanks.

Trying to get my referb cricket i747 to take the latest official rom.

I have a sgh-i747 thats a referb from cricket on 4.1.1. How can I force it to take the legit AT&T OTA update? Kies says I'm at the latest version but AT&T shows a newer rom is available. I would like to update without rooting or voiding KNOX.
Back up you data and flash back to stock 4.1.1.
If the phone is not sim unlocked, use the free method to sim unlock the phone after flashing stock 4.1.1.
After unlocking, try checking for OTA updates.

smasung s9 sm960u in uk, was ok now not

first of all i shoud state im over in the UK using SKY mobile(02 signal). So I picked up a used S9 last week and every thing seemed ok but i could not understand why is would not update from android 8 to 9. it turns out is a grey import sm960u USA phone and would not update unless the orig carrier sim was in and i was in the usa. i checked its imei and belived it to be on sprint SPR and downloaded the latest firmware and installed via odin. Now the phone will now not connect to my 4G, i have now found out that Sprint uses CMDA and not GSM that i require in UK .Stupidly i did not check which frimware version the phone was running before flashing it. Is there a USA firmware i can install which will get me back on 4g, maybe without carrier bloatware. i understand that i cannot flash it with sm960f firmware but maybe able to use sm960u1 firmware as this is the plain unlocked version

Which OTA update

Hi,
I have a S9 bought in UAE, and I'm using it in UK. Originally it got the UAE Samsung apps (members, etc.) but after last factory reset and using the UK sim card, now I get the UK Samsung apps.
Never flashed any firmware and all the update have been done by the official OTA's. Which OTA update I'm I getting the XEU or XSG? How I can I know this? Thanks

does it matter a ton? The phone has a multi csc in its firmware which is what allowed it to flop over to your new carriers settings without you doing anything. It will download the update for the carrier your sim card dictates, which is likely nearly identical to the one that you would have got had you not put a sim in it in the first place
