Flashing Roms to Virgin Mobile US Roms. - HTC Wildfire S

Hello wondering if anyone could help me, this is my second Wildfire S.. the first one I returned since it just turned off and wouldnt come back on it would just vibrate 3 times. These happened because after flashing jintaku rom the phone stopped working on data and messages.. tried to program manually but it wouldnt accept msid code for virgin mobile... After that I decided to flash with the ruu exe stock rom, but while it was doing that it got an error and it got bricked into it vibrating only three times and shutting off.
I did the s-off with the goldcard exploit...
so are there no roms for wildfire s for virgin mobile usa????

This is how I bricked mine. From what I can gather, the difference between our phones and everyone else's is that virgin mobile does not use SIM cards. Ergo, the ROMS are not for VM's network.
At least, that's what I *think* happened.

So there is no roms for cdma virgin mobile???

What? How can this bee?

Unfortunately there is no current custom roms for VM users. The only thing you can do is root the phone after s-off and then remove unwanted bloatware until one is created. If one will be created.

I beg to differ, but there is starting to be life in the WFS VM movement. Take a look at this:

Hi guys,
as much as i am an advancer user when it comes to doing stuff on android devices that with winMo i don't know what to do. I have read twice the reference thread with all the instructions but i am still lost, i don't understand everything. If someone could direct me to a IRC chat where someone could guide me step-by-step or someone is willing to spear some time and stay with me on a GTalk that would be awesome. Either way please direct me to someone, or a place where i could get a live help.
Thank you all in advance.
Regards
Kirior
You haven't even asked a question here.
What are you trying to do?!?
uh Sorry
I am trying for the first time to change my ROM. I could read about HardSPL but in the guide there are something about some tickets from htc and some files from Microsoft website. Should i download it on my PC on my mobile how to flash it what to do with those files and this HTC thing. Generally how to bite these things. Do i have to be plugged in USB or no and so on so on.
I read it twice but i am still confused

HSPL you flash from ActiveSync. So get the phone sync'd, then run the HSPL installer (make sure you get the right one for your device!!)
Then, once you've flashed HSPL you can flash any ROM - either via SD or USB/ActiveSync.
ok that clears things up. Now the HSPL i get from htc website? and on the tutorial here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540 it says to download a file If you have Vista or Windows 7, update WMDC to v6.1 *HERE* first do i download this to my phone or pc and flash it with active sync?

Honestly the "Flashing via ActiveSync with USB Lead" is really quite straight forward.
yes i got that part now, i guess i must be tired so the information didn't go to my brain as they should.
I got the HSPL now successfully and would like to ask you a question.
What ROM would you recommend? I am currently browsing the thread with all the ROM's, as well as each separably.
Thank you very much for your help and mainly patience.

Anyhoo, I like EnergyROM - but I don't really use WinMo anymore. I love Android too much . I use the Titanium version of Energy so I can quickly get into Android. That's all WinMo is for me anymore... a place to launch Android.

Did you unlock the SIM slot?
I know on the RHOD400/500 there's a SIM unlocker tool. I don't know if it applies to other RHOD's or not...
Update:
"Q6. Is there a SIM Unlock tool (or any other kind of paid service / hack) available to make this phone compatible with the US GSM service providers?
A. YES YES YES! Olipro and Cmonex have made this happen for real. Works with all CDMA Rhodiums."
Only applies to the CDMA RHOD's it seems. The GSM-only variants shouldn't need the SIM slot unlocked in any way shape or form.
hi
so does that mean that i will be forever unable to receive and make calls?
I have tried with my o2 UK sim card and funny enough i have a data connection but not signal. I can browse internet and stuff but cannot make any calls. With my 3UK card i have nothing. No data No phone calls. Is there a way to fix it or i basically just **** my phone up by taking simlock off?
I got it on ebay and it was locked to Orange. Before i flashed ROM i put my sim and entered the code to unlock the sim. If that was a mistake is there a fix or patch to help me out?
Please help me.

So this is a GSM-only RHOD? RHOD100 I'd guess?
If so, there's no reason to unlock the SIM slot on the device itself AFAIK. You would only need to unlock the SIM card itself.
I'm by no means an expert here, but based on what I've read the only SIM slot that needs unlocking or is even unlock-able on the RHOD is the CDMA variants (which both have SIM slots for GSM as well).
Sorry, maybe someone with some more knowledge on the GSM variants will respond.
Yes it is RHD100,
Before reading your posts i have already unlocked my sim slot as i was trying to use my 3uk sim in orangeUK handset. Usually in all handsets so far that was the way to use different sims. If what you say is true what are my options now?
To bump up my thread and question
After not much luck trying to fix it i still have a device that have no signal.
I have tried ROMs Radios flashes and all i could think of.
i have checked and the only way for me to use my phone was to unlock it via unlock codes. But since that day i have no signal what so ever.
I am willing to send my phone to some one for repair if you think you have a clue.
If you have any ideas how i can do it on my own please let me know as well as i really would like to use this. I know it is old and stuff but still would be nice.
Anyhow if you need more answers or info of what i have tried and done do not hesitate to contact me or reply here.

You're sure the hardware supports the bands you require for your provider?
Like arrrghhh says if your Rhodium supports the frequency bands for the provider you are trying to use it on then it should work. I suggest you talk with your 3UK tech support and give them the model # and see if you need a specific type of sim card for it to work or any suggestions they might have.
HI,
Thanks for your input. I know that it used to work on Orange UK network before taking sim lock. Usually most of UK devices worked together, especially that 3 UK have a partner agreement to use Orange network if you loose 3 Network. So it should work. I will give them a call and report back.
Kirior
Edit:
So the guy said that because my sim works in other handsets it must be a software/hardware and sim issue. He could not check it more as it was not a 3 handset so they don't bother. They, as a network, used to have a agreement with all the network to roam between each other, so that would mean that freq are same in all UK. I am running out of options. Any one willing to fix/help with it?
Edit 2:
Went to an orange shop on my way to work and tried one of theirs sim card. Handset worked flawlessly. My guess now is something went wrong with unlock maybe, or my sim is really incompatible with handset. Any ideas how to resolve it?
Thx in advance.

So there's no problems with the device, the problem is with your SIM. Sort that out.

May be, but my sim works in all sort of different devices, it is just this one.
I was wandering as well, maybe if i would come back to stock RUU for Orange UK maybe than it would work? But i cannot seem to find it anywhere :/

[Q] HTC One X Sim Unlock issues

Hey everyone,
I bought my HTC One X from 3 mobile in the UK and as expected it was locked to that network. I decided to get it unlocked as I was leaving the country. I got my code and it didn't work. I tried getting it again from my friend who does unlocking and still no luck. My phone had its bootloader unlocked using HTC dev method and it was rooted with Leedroid rom. I tried installing the stock rom on the phone and put the code back in and still no luck? What could be the possible issue? Is there any other way of sim unlocking the phone? I had to leave the country on very short notice so couldn't even get the chance to speak to 3 mobile about this issue.
Thanks!

[Q] Phone issues

we unlocked this phone a few months ago and everything was working great.
last week sometime my son stopped receiving calls and txts and had a simcard icon showing that his sim card is locked. we did some troubleshooting with virgin and they determined he needed a new sim. so we restored this phone back to default and now there is still the sim card icon at the top of the screen. when we rebooted the phone it asks for a network unlock code. we were told by virgin to contact rogers to get this code. they were unable to help. i tried entering the unlock code that you provided us previously and we get an error unsuccessful unlock.
any ideas would be great.
so after almost two weeks of working with virgin and cellunlocker.net we still have not been able to get this phone working. im being told that sometimes when you update the firmware like we did the phone becomes re locked to the original carrier. i was sent a file to reload the stock firmware but the application just crashes when i run it. Does anyone know what i can do to get this phone up and running?? please help. thank you

Probably not a rom issue.
Probably will need to know what android version. ICS Official apparently has an issue with relocking from what I have read.

[Q] Is it possible to unlock the US/Virgin Mobile Desire 816

Hi, I have the Virgin Mobile 816. I am wondering if I could unlock the network so that I could use the sim from other operators, like AT&T or Verizon.
Thanks!

Never say never. I will not rest until it is possible. SPCS won't keep me down. I was a loyal customer for ten years and they screwed me over. I want the phone, but not them. Back in the day they said my Photon was on a version that couldn't be modified to GSM, but that didn't stop some of us from making it work.
I just wish I'd have picked a phone that had more development time with the true devs.

I checked with Virgin Customer care if they can unlock, they told me that they cannot give MSL code as it does not satify the conditions. But i was searching all the forum and able to get the MSL code from the MSL utility.apk, but I am not sure how to unlock the GSM with the MSL, I was able to enable ##3424# but dont know further process.
I am sure someone would be able to unlock it soon and share the process. Lets wait for some more time:fingers-crossed:

i want to know if its safe to flash it on a dual sim device.
i understand i may need to change the CID/MID to get it to work.
i really need the 5.0 version for my dual sim phone but the update is not working.
note: i have root access on the device.
thanks.

Most likely not. The dual SIM models have different partition sizes then the VM variant, and it will probably hard brick your device.
Scratch that, flashing any RUU not meant for YOUR phone has a 99% chance of hard bricking your phone. So I really don't want to see you with a busted phone...

HTC 10 Unlocked, Used Sunshine for Verizon, Changed CID/MID, Process back 2 Unlocked?

Hey all...
I used sunshine to unlock and s-off immediately after purchase of my Unlocked HTC 10 and changed the CID/MID to make it a Verizon phone and flash ViperRom.
Now that I'm traveling for work I need to change the phone back to Unlocked to use the LTE bands in another country (buying a SIM card in Japan), and also for it to to work back on VZN when I return.
I'd really appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction of the steps I need to take to perform this? Hoping I only need to change/flash a couple things to pop in a new SIM in Japan and pop back in the VZN SIM when I'm back.
Thanks all! Hopefully this could be useful for someone else in my situation. I'd venture to guess it's somewhat common...

I've used my VZW 10 in Japan with a local data sim card without issues. Check the operator you're interested in over there and make sure your VZW 10 covers those bands. Else choose a different operator. Also your network settings need to be set to Global instead of CDMA, if I remember correctly.
With that said if you still want to convert back to Unlocked to be safe, just change your CID to Unlocked (or even superCID) and run an unlocked ruu from htc.com. This will wipe your phone so back everything up. Then once you're back home, do the reverse using one of the no-wipe ruus on xda. I would have thought you'd be comfortable with this already since you've done it once before. Am I misreading your question?
One piece of advice, if you chose a data-only simcard there from the provider Docomo (largest one in Japan I think) or one of their subtiers, you will likely have battery drain issues due to your phone constantly looking for a cell/voice call connection with the towers. There is a fix for it but only if you have Xposed installed.

I bought it from some stand at Narita airport called Telecomsquare. I just shopped around the many stands until I found a package I liked and which worked. Oddly enough the shop specifically said they don't support HTC phones, because of bands I think, but I still went with it and it worked.
Yes if your device is originally U.S Unlocked then changing your cid and mid back to unlocked and flashing ruu will work. You may need to wipe your radios after flashing the ruu as well to get rid of any Verizon radio settings.
Mobile hotspot is probably the simplest option if you're willing to pay for it. No need to fiddle around activating a sim card in a foreign airport
