I'm looking at my phone right now, and its not charging, its feels like when I have the charger in it decreases the battery percent even faster. This has been happening for a couple of days now, and I wanted to know if anybody could solve problem. Also, when the battery dies, and I put it on the charger, it doesn't start up when I want it to. If it helps anything, I'm using the RCMix3D ROM.

Try another cord

I've tried that, I tried an EnV touch and a Droid X charger, EnV charger worked in the car, But the Droid X was no dice.

As knipp suggested I would try another cord, if not, I think it's time for a certified like new replacement. Comes with free extra back battery door as well.

Quick question, guys.
Will leaving the One X plugged in all night ruin the life of the battery? First thing I do when I get home is plug the thing in (it usually is at <20% charge), and then only take it out in the morning (8, maybe 10 hours after). I am especially concerned as the phone's battery is built in, and replacing it will be a pain.
Thanks for taking time to leave your thoughts.

It won't ruin the battery. However leaving it in there for days would.

Cheers for the quick reply. Yeah, I imagine that would ruin the battery. I've a habit of listening to Stitcher or whatnot 'til I fall asleep. Guess that isn't much of a problem now. Thanks!
Your welcome
works the same way if it's in a dock so it's pretty safe to leave it there overnight.
Previous HTC phones I have had do something like this:
Charge to 100%.
Go off charger, until battery reaches ~95%.
Charge back to 100%.
It's a cycle that is repeated while your phone is on the charger, to prevent it from over charging. This is also why sometimes you'll take the phone off the charger when the green light is on and it'll be down to 92% after two minutes.

Good tips, guys. Thanks for the help.
Good advice in this thread
One thing that has not been mentioned is what about leaving it plugged in overnight with the screen on, kinda like a desk clock. Would that cause problems?

Hi all
I've bought 2 Desire HD batteries (1210mah IIRC) and they work just fine on their own.
I can't manage to keep alive my phone after replacing one with another (charged), though, since the phone believes the battery charge is 0%. I know this is an error, since I can always plug the phone and check with an handful of apps.
This actually means that I can't switch from a dying battery to a charged one if I don't have access to a USB socket!
If I have to guess, I'd say the phone is not deleting batterystats when I swap the batteries.
Any idea? I'm running CodefireX JB nightlies.
Have been noticing the same behavior! Would like to know if anyone knows a solution..

Actually I did found a workaround, kinda. After a first boot-automatic shutdown, this morning I booted in recovery, then I wiped batterystats (although I don't know how that could help). After a reboot it shat down again automatically, and then it worked.
I'd guess it just take some time to read the correct mV value. So basically you could leave your phone sitting in recovery for like 5 minutes and then reboot. Or, you know, just fratically reboot until it works. That's my plan anyway.
Meh.
That is a known issue with batteries other than the original HTC battery. Since I'm used to have a sensation battery, I ought to bring along portable charger whenever I can in long trips. There is no other way other than plugging it in charger or just hoping that it would boot up with a lil bit of luck.

It makes sense. I had to reboot the phone after a full charge (unrelated issue) and then it happened again. I tried my luck; after three reboots the phone got it right. It should be enough having the phone sitting in recovery mode for like 5 minutes. When it shows a valid percentage it's good to go!
This happens to me almost daily. All you have to do is restart the phone maybe twice... nothing else. I used to think i had to plug it in as well. Nope just restart it, if it shows 0 percent again it'll die, restart again, bam 100 percent.

Got my One X in the post today, plugged it in, been on charge for atleast an hour and a half but it's still dead
No signs of life, no charge light, can't turn on, can't enter bootloader
Anyone experience this?
Also the phone is stone cold, if the battery was charging I would expect it to get warm...

Yeh looks that way so that means no new phone for a week as I have to wait for them to collect it then send me a new one, can't just take it to a store which is stupid
Checked the pogo pins with a volt meter and it's reading 5v no problem so power is getting to the phone it just seems dead. No battery life and it won't turn on

When I got a replacement HOX from carphone warehouse that was dead too, but I left it plugged in for a few hours and it came to life.
If the battery has no charge at all it may seem like a fault.

Charger that came with it but checked dock pins to make sure voltage is present in the phone which it clearly is
Does sound dead sadly, should have some charge if it came new.
Does it get detected as anything by windows even if off?
Any repsonse if you hold down the power button and both volume buttons?
Mine did the same thing when it was fresh out the box. I just left it on sharge for a couple of hours and the charge light then lit and it powered up. The battery was just very flat on arrival.
Did your battery warm up though? This ones cold to the touch
I think it's dead so already called for a replacement but gotta wait for it
In the meantime I will leave it to charge overnight but I'm not hopeful at all, be better if we could access the battery instead of HTC going all apple on us
As I got my hox, it was fully discharged too, and it took ca. 30 minutes to bring it back to life...

When I first got mine was at 15% battery, after 24hrs charging (original charger, laptop, Inc s charger...) nothing changed.
Ended up with a replacement but took optus Australia 3 weeks to replace it.
...
Try to change cable I have to do that because stock cable that came with phone is sh..t.One day just stop working. Now using NOKIA CA-101 and no problem at all fantastic build quality. With stock cable had that problem couple times
Even if it does not light right up, the battery should get warmer when charging. Like advised, try a different cable, if that does not work either, then there probably is no simple solution that you can solve on your own.
As my HOX was charging, via a USB cable to plug, the screen started flickering slightly and the phone shut itself down. The phone was 10% charged. Now when I try to charge it the LED flashes red and green and doesn't seem to charge. I've read that this could be due to overheating so I left my phone untouched for a couple of hours but it's still flashing red and green/green. Something feels seriously wrong.
Is there something I can do to fix this?
When the problem started the phone was quite warm but nowhere near as hot as it has been, and I wasn't using it that much.
The only thing different today was that I was using a plug that I don't normally use, the cable I have used before.
Any ideas?
How much does a battery replacement cost?
Thanks
Chris

Don't you have the charger and cable it came with? Try another charger that can supply at least 1 amp and try a different cable.
The only time I've had this is when it's overheated.

Charged to 28% but then shut down after light usage
Ok I've managed to get it charging up to 28%. Then I stopped charging it and started using it to do some light Internet browsing, but after about 15 minutes it suddenly shut itself down even though it wasn't hot and had plenty of battery. What's going on?
You might have damaged the battery using a non standard plug. It might be more than the phone can handle

I always had the impression that the USB plugs were all standardised and acted the same?
Can charge it to 60% but turns off after heavy usage
OK I've managed to get this battery to charge up to 60%. It won't go any higher than that. I was using today quite heavily for about 30 minutes and it got quite hot and turned itself off.
Will replacing the battery sort this problem out or is there something else wrong?
Thanks
Chris
I'd be surprised if it was the battery, I'd try a factory reset, anb if that doesn't work, an RUU.
im running ARHD 12.0 [Android 5.1] and facing 340ma charging, around 3-4 hr until full
anyone have the same problem ?
before i use this rom (running stock rom) i also have this problem.
I feel like it takes the phone a little to "set up." When I first got the phone it took forever to charge, now it does it fine within 2-3 hours. I plug it in and I see it charges decently fast. When I first got the phone it was really bad at charging though, I really was about to send it back.
Make sure you use a genuine charger. htc or samsung chargers seem to work fine.
An under powered charger will cause the phone to whinge incessantly about low charging power, refuse to swutch off the screen and waste power like its going out of fashion.
Htc logic.. Something not to be desired..
Sent from a stolen (and crap) HTC M9
Old thread I know but most relevant I could quickly find.
Using standard charger included with M9 I could charge from 0 to full in about an hour and a half to 2 hours maximum. Lately, it now is taking 9 to 13 hours with the same charger and cable. Have swapped out cable, no improvement.
On stock, no root, TMO, firmware 2.11.531.19. Charging with unit off, in recovery or bootloader makes no difference.
Any ideas?
Turn the device off and charge it. If it charges in the correct amount of time then you can assume you charger is good but the phone is demanding too much power.

I had problems with charging recently. Very obvious fluctuations in charging and not charging to 100%. The problem was lint in the micro USB. Search YouTube videos on how to safely clean them. It has to be worth trying.
Depends, I've had bum adapters before. Had the same issue with my old Note 3 using it's included adapter. I switched to a different one I had (an LG one) and it charged fine afterwards.
My issues were solved by the marshmallow update.

That solved it, thanks!
