Ok, have you read the stickies? They are there to help you.
If you have installed a custom rom, the process for installing the stock rom is exactly the same: download the stock rom zip, put on sd card root, boot into recovery, make nandroid backup, wipe everything, and flash the zip.
Here is a stock rooted ROM, wipe everything except SD card 3x and flash it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319881
There are Sense 2.1 and Sense 3.0 ROMs that have 4G. It's only Sense 3.5 ROMs that don't have 4G.
MikG is my personal favorite for a Sense 2.1 + 3.0 hybrid, and it has 4G and everything working. It is ridiculously stable.
For a full Sense 3.0 ROM, I use Synergy-Kingdom or r3chargeD. Both are quite stable and have 4G.

once you have full rooted access(NAND) then you can always flash roms at your favor. if you've flashed 2.2, you can always flash another 2.1 rom, just make sure you wipe everything, as in "factory reset" and "davlik cache". then just flash the rom that you want.

Anyone out there have problems flashing back to Froyo ROM after using Evervolv gingerbread?
I can flash back to a Nandroid of Evervolv, but cant:
1. Fresh install Froyo Rom
2. Re-install Nandroid
This is of course all after wipe of everything.
Using Ra for wipe of dalvik, cache, battery, sd ext , factory reset.
ANY ADVICE.
when I try and flash any froyo rom or nandroid of a froyo rom I just get the white HTC evo 4g screen which stays (ive left it for an hour) until reset and flash back to evervolv.
So.......im stuck using ONLY evervolv and im kinda over the rom not working well yet. Its improving, but still too much not working consistently and reliably.
Does RA recovery need to be updated.......would that potentially fix the problem ??? or did something else cause the gingerbread only problem.
Sounds like you updated your radio and pri and are trying to flash to a rom still running the older HTC #17 kernel.
Download and flash one of the new roms based on the new ota 3.70 with the htc#15 kernel.
If it boots up there's the issue
sent from my evo.
i look on google n cant find anything... how do i change roms? is there a procedure? i had cyanogen rom but i didnt like it much so i recovered n went back to original stuff. now i wanna try another rom. do i flash a new rom and thats it? or is there a new procedure i have to do? im trying to flash virtuous full rom v1.0.0
Installation instructions are on the page

First, back everything up with the "Backup Rom" option in Rom manager (also called a nandroid backup). Download the Rom (.zip) you want and put on root of your SD card as a zip file, Reboot into recovery with Rom manager. Data wipe, cache wipe, and choose install zip from SD. Reboot you phone. And that's it your new Rom should be up and running. First boot up usually takes a few minutes as it is building ur cache. If there are any problems try searching the forum b/c it has probably already been addressed.
Usually the steps are listed in the Op of a forum on how to install a specific Rom but the steps are pretty much the same.
Virtuous is a good Rom, its Android 2.2 with Sense 2.0. But u should give VillainRoms SenseGinger a try, it is Android 2.3 with Sense 2.1. The latest is pretty stable and fast, and it keeps getting updated.

I do have what might be a silly question on this topic, however it has been bothering me and I don't dare try it. I change my rom A LOT because I like to play around and try out the new stuff but I usually end up going back to CM7. at the moment I have a backup of each ROM I've tried so far in case I want to go back to play with it or update it if it gets updates. Whenever I change roms I do a factory restet and a cache wipe. is that necissary? or can you just install zip over whatever is there like you do with CM nightly updates?

You can but it is often recommended to wipe because of lingering data that might not match up with your current rom. sometimes it could be just fine and sometimes cause problems. so it really just depends on what roms your using. Personally i just wipe data and cache when jumping between roms unless its just a patch or update.
I'm running cm7, and I really want synergy god mode. I know that cm7 is an also based rom and synergy is a sense based rom,so how do I get it to flash. Do I need to flash a different radio. I tried different ways and still no success. I'm kind of a rookie to the rom situation and would greatly appreciate any assistance. If I do have to flash a radio, which one and how do I do so. What Im really looking for is the latest synergy plus god mode and also the carousel zip addon for the rom. Somebody anybody. Please help. Thanks.

no radio update necessary....a good wipe though is please tell me youre using RA recovery? godmode maybe your problem as well as it dont play well with alot of phones...
You MUST use Amon Ra recovery in order to have godmode work properly. Make sure you have the latest version (v2.3) of Amon Ra installed. Then reflash the ROM and try it out.

I believe you mean AOSP rom, there is no such thing as an "also rom".
so how do I get it to flash

Flashing the regular synergy rom is done just how you flash ANY rom, put the rom zip on your sd card, reboot to recovery, make a Nandroid backup, wipe everything, and flash.
If you are wanting to try God Mode however, that is completely different, you need to follow the directions on the SYnergy thread very carefully.

That depends, what radio version are you on now? It's always a good idea to flash the latest radio if there is an update available.
I tried different ways and still no success.

Again, the Synergy thread has all the info you need. However, if you are this much of a noob, you might just want to try flashing the regular Synergy rom first. No offense, we were all noob's at one point, but God Mode is pretty complicated to get working correctly for someone who is still learning.
You flash synergy + godmode the same way you flash the regular synergy ROM. There is nothing complicated about it.
Hey All
I'm in need of some help. For some reason this whole SBF thing is completely confused me
My Defy
System Version: Moto_Version.34.30.3601.MB525.Vodacome.en.GB
Firmware Version: 2.2.2
Baseband Version: EPU93_U_00.59.02
Build number: JEM_3.4.3-36-1
(Unsure if these will help)
Anyway, I'm wanting to put CM7 or another custom rom onto my phone, but they all seem to be version 2.3 or so, but I want to be able to drop down to my original rom in case I need to return the phone for something
I did the official update to 2.2.2 from 2.1, which was lucky as with my 2.1 stock rom Clockworkmod couldn't read my memory card, seemed to be a common glitch with the SBF version it had, but it seems fine now
I read somewhere to use a Nordic nandroid backup for some reason, cant remember, just found it in my download folder from attempting to get clockworkmod to work on 2.1, restored the image onto my phone, which worked fine, but that seemed to be a no risk flash
So now I'm confused on how to proceed to putting on a custom rom, I fear that I'm going to **** up something, or going to run into issues if I try change to different custom roms
I'm possibly just over thinking what is meant to be done, and it is way simpler than it seems at the moment
anyone have some advice?
Using nordic as a base is old, custom runs like cm7 work on any base.
As long as you don't flash full sbf of gingerbread builds via rsdlite you can always go back to your original 2.2 by flashing full sbf through rsdlite.
Okay coming to installation of custom roms, first thing is to root it. You can use super one click for that. Then install defy 2ndinit after that boot menu and recovery.then you are all set to install custom roms.
For cm7, down load the zip and install through cwm.
Restart phone and as soon you see blue led press volume down, this would put you into boot menu.then select custom/stable recovery. Select wipe user data/factory reset.then go to advanced and select wipe dalvik cache. Come back and select install from zip and give cm7 zip, after finished reboot. It will now boot with cm7, first boot will take few minutes 2-3. It is generally cm7 first boot is in loop, if you are stuck just remove battery and put back and restart.
You can go through cm7 installation thread for better clarity.
Enjoy flashing!

Thanks for the reply
So basicly I just flash the rom straight in clock work mod, no need for fixed SBF's or anything?
Do I need to back up/make full SBF of my stock SBF or something?
Is CM7 7.1 based on Froyo, and you'd just flash it straight from the memory card in Clockwork mod?
Or have I missed the point and meant to flash a fixed SBF to allow for gingerbread or any roms and then reflash 2.2 back on when I want to retore stock again?
Well I went ahead and installed Motogamer, which I downloaded last night and its working fine, but it seems to be based on the froyo kernal
I'm still a little confused as CM7.1 looks like its gingerbread, unsure of the downgradeability to my froyo stock rom, but this rom had no issue when I used my nandroid backup to restore to my stock rom
Thanks for the help
CM7.1 stable is android 2.3.7 with froyo kernel. And there is CM7.2 nightlies with both froyo and gingerbread kernels. I use the defy+ CM7.2 with gingerbread kernel from Quarx (this gives me better battery life) http://quarx2k.ru/, since i have redlens defy.
You dont have worry about the downgradability as long as you dont flash full sbf of gingerbread using rsdlite. All the dev custom roms have no problem in downgrading back to your original stock froyo. Look at if there is any WARNING IN RED regarding downgradability when you download any rom.
There are good number of ROMs to try, whenever you change ROM remember to do full wipe (factory reset and wipe dalvik cache), back up your apps and other information before you do this. If you are upgrading to night revision of same ROM, for example next nightly of CM7.2 we dont have do to full wipe, just cache and dalvik cache wipe would be fine.
If you like Stock ROM, try MS2ginger3.0 which gives awesome battery life and with full blur functionality if you like.
Awesome, thanks
I'm really keen to try more custom roms out, really happy so far with this new one at the moment, but will probably try CM7 soon
Thanks for the advice, not sure I'll go back to stock rom for a long time, just feared that I'd **** something up and not be able to return to stock if needed to
Really keen to start seeing what android really has to offer now
