Cm7 to synergy? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm running cm7, and I really want synergy god mode. I know that cm7 is an also based rom and synergy is a sense based rom,so how do I get it to flash. Do I need to flash a different radio. I tried different ways and still no success. I'm kind of a rookie to the rom situation and would greatly appreciate any assistance. If I do have to flash a radio, which one and how do I do so. What Im really looking for is the latest synergy plus god mode and also the carousel zip addon for the rom. Somebody anybody. Please help. Thanks.

no radio update necessary....a good wipe though is please tell me youre using RA recovery? godmode maybe your problem as well as it dont play well with alot of phones...

You MUST use Amon Ra recovery in order to have godmode work properly. Make sure you have the latest version (v2.3) of Amon Ra installed. Then reflash the ROM and try it out.

I know that cm7 is an also based rom and synergy is a sense based rom,

I believe you mean AOSP rom, there is no such thing as an "also rom".
so how do I get it to flash

Flashing the regular synergy rom is done just how you flash ANY rom, put the rom zip on your sd card, reboot to recovery, make a Nandroid backup, wipe everything, and flash.
If you are wanting to try God Mode however, that is completely different, you need to follow the directions on the SYnergy thread very carefully.

That depends, what radio version are you on now? It's always a good idea to flash the latest radio if there is an update available.
I tried different ways and still no success.

Again, the Synergy thread has all the info you need. However, if you are this much of a noob, you might just want to try flashing the regular Synergy rom first. No offense, we were all noob's at one point, but God Mode is pretty complicated to get working correctly for someone who is still learning.

You flash synergy + godmode the same way you flash the regular synergy ROM. There is nothing complicated about it.

cant flash any 2.2 roms...need help

I ran into the bootloop issues while flashing cm6 nightlys, but when others were able to flash the new ones, I could not. Then I couldn't flash the snap kernels either, kept getting bootloops. So I rerooted with toasts part 1&2 and now I'm stuck on dc 3.2.3 with netarchy-toastmod 3.7.5 kernel and the 1.34 pri. I've got the latest radio. Everytime I try to flash dc3.5 I get an error writing boot at line 396 and with fresh I get error at 434. Cm6 just gives me bootloops. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
thats really weird. You may have more luck and get flamed less in the Q&A forum. Just to make sure you are wiping data/cache/davik before attempting to flashing correct?

Yeah, I've tried a bunch of times with full wipes using both clockwork and amons recoveries. Thanks for the heads up on the flaming.
Before you flash CM6 Nightly's, you should:
Flash another 2.2 Rom and then NOT do factory data/reset.
Use baked snack IMO the best rom here and everything works.

Did you try using a RUU to go back to stock and start over?

no, i haven't tried that yet but that's probably my next step. I was thinking of trying unrevoked forever and then taking the ota. maybe I'll try the 2.2 ruu since 2.2 root is out.

[Q]Unable to flash senseless revolution?

Hey guys i finally got a working dinc (apparently they lied about letting me get a different handset because htc has never reported random reboots as an issue), and rooted and dropped jagerrom on it just to try it. and I dont like it, at all. So i wanna go back to senseless rEVOlution, but no matter what i try it just wont flash. I've tried changing roms and going from there, doing it through rom manager, doing it through recovery, even un/re-rooting and everything. I just want a rom that i like so tired of phone problems zzz
What do you mean it won't flash? Are you getting an error message? Is the install going through but it does nothing? Can you be a bit more specific?
Ummm if I try it straight through recovery it just says install can not be completed and another line, I'd have to try it to check. If I go through rom manager the install seems to go fine but then it boots back into jager ROM

Go back to 2.5.1.2. 3.0.0.5 had a bunch of issues/problems. This is probably one of the reasons that nothing is happening after you flash it. Revert to 2.5.1.2, wipe, then flash the rom you want. Everything should be good after that.
Then if you want, you can upgrade it to 3.0.0.8, I haven't heard of any problems with that one.
kk sweet ill do that.
PS does battery level matter when flashing stuff? a friend told me that if u flash on anything besides full it'll mess with your battery life

No, it doesn't matter, just don't do it when the battery level is low. You don't want the phone to power off in the middle of flashing a rom, that makes your phone a nice paperweight.
ah okay sweet. apparently something about senseless revolution wont let me flash with 3.X.X.X recovery. said something about a script not being compatible with gingerbread recoveries.
and apparently apply sdcard/update.zip didnt flash the new recovery, hmm. oh well ill figure it out.
are there any ACTUAL gingerbread roms for the dINC and not just themeed ones? all the ones I see say GB but then in the topic it just is like "Themed gingerbread whatever"

Just reflash the recovery through rom manager. Just scroll to the bottom, All ClockworkMod Recoveries, and pick 2.5.1.2.
For GB CM7 is basically a stock GB rom with a bunch of customizations that you can choose to make. Its the most stable GB rom right now IMO.
The lowest it has is 3.0.0.2 and doesnt let me scroll

Just go here ( http://dougpiston.com/?page_id=85 ) and download the 2.5.1.2 recovery. Be sure to check that your MD5 sum is the same as the one provided before flashing.

[Q]

I have never flashed a rom to my current evo which is rooted and I love it. My question is how do I go back to my current stock state if I don't like rom. I have nandroid backups and will make another before I flash a rom, I know how to clear everything out before flashing the new rom. Can I just restore the nandroid back to return to the stock rom or do I have to do something else. Also what kernel should I use if I want to check out CM7. I have read that a lot of people use either Tiamat or Savaged-Zen. Thanks in advance.

That is correct, all you would need to do is restore a nandroiid backup, to return the exact point you were at when you created that backup. Simple as that. As far as kernels, either of the two you tried should work great. Every phone is different, so try them out and see how they run. I'd also give the stock CM kernel that comes with CM7 a chance, it ran beautifully on my device, fwiw.
I agree with buckley in regards to just using the stock CM7 kernel. I'm pretty sure Cyanongen and Co. know what they're doing...
Great then I think that I will try to install CM7. Also do I need to do the gps fix now while I'm on the stock rom or do I needed to just wait to see if I have gps problems first. Also will CM7 replace my Amon-Ra v 2.3 with Clockwork recovery.

Flashing CM won't effect your recovery. Also, I think you can do the GPS fix now before you flash. Either way, couldn't hurt.

How can I get CM10 while on UVALH3?

Still a major noob here. I want to get cyanogenmod 10 onto my s3 but I've had issues ever since putting on UVALH3. If I want to get CM10 can someone walk me through all the steps to get there, or is it just impossible?

Do you have a recovery installed like CWM or TWRP? Lets start with that.

Could it be I was supposed to do this before flashing CM10? Because I simply rooted installed freegs3, wiped data and caches and all, then I flashed cm10. Was that the wrong way? Should I go back to stock and restart the process? Because right now for one, custom kernels are giving me strange issues. Also, a ktoonz kernel dev told me my log cat pointed towards corrupt partition or Rom, but I'm using cm10

pretty sure having a custom recovery isn't your issue if you are to the point of wiping caches and flashing kernels. The OP is asking how to wipe a stock ROM off and get CM on his/her phone i'm pretty sure.

No i do not. I tried rooting my phone and it didn't take, and you need to root before CWM right? I had CWM when I was on Uvalh2 but when I went through the process of Uvalh3 I guess I lost it. Should I go ahead and do it? I have the zip file in my phone, still.
I should also mention that when I go into recovery the android dude is fallen over, dead. I'm guessing that's a bad sign.
That just means you're on stock recovery. Odin a rooted rom which you can find in the dev forums (root without tripping flash), then install twrp or cwm, then flash cm10, then flash desired radio.

Stuck at boot ani screen on all AOSP roms

I don't know if someone already posted this, but searched and couldn't find the answer. I get stuck at boot screen all on AOSP 4.2.2 roms that I tried, but with any TW roms are fine (no problem at all). Can anyone help? I want to run AOSP rom. Thanks.
I think you may be using a touch wiz kernel
You can find some aosp kernels in the original development thread

I flashed BeanStalk, SlimBean, CyanogenMod 10.1 official nightlies, FSC rom, and IllusionRom.
I have CWM Philz_Touch 5.07.1. Every time install a new rom, I wiped Caches + Data / Factory Reset 2x.
I flashed rom only, then flashed rom and GAPPS, those 2 didn't work, I even tried rom w/ SOAPKernel and still didn't work.
ok, you should try switching to TWRP, since most of the time people have zero issues flashing AOSP roms with TWRP.
Also, after all your wipes, flash the rom and GAAPS in the same session, and reboot..
I've done this exact procedure for years, and it works for me 99.98% of the time..

Switched to TWRP, and did all the wipes, install rom and GAAPS. Same thing.
Planning to flash stock rom, and redo all the root/recovery procedures all over again. Do you think I should do that?
it couldnt hurt...
some phones are just tempremental; do you have an SD card in your phone?
are you installing from the sd card or internal memory?
try installing from one or the other to see if that helps; sometimes it does...

good luck, and post back if you get it working properly
flashed stock rom and rooted and installed boot recovery, after all that, it's still not let me install any AOSP roms. Really don't why I can only flash TW roms but not AOSP roms.
