Hi all,
I just played with my friend's international version of s2, and found that she has an awesome chinese keyboard from samsung that's much better than the one I currently use.
I want to extract the keyboard from her phone, and install it on mine, but I couldn't find how. I try "share app via.." but the keyboard is not listed
anyone knows an easy way to extract keyboards from another phone?
thanks
Use root explorer

Or Titanium backup. I couldn't tell you where to browse with Root explorer but it should show on the app list in TiBu.

Bell Canada removed this app for some reason, and I *do* have a Samsung TV, so would find it very useful.
No one has this app?
it is in the samsung apps app, is it not in yours?
I've just downloaded it (because I can) although I have no idea where it keeps the install files?
FYI, it's called QWERTY remocon....
Also, would this thread help?

No, like I said, Bell Canada removed it for some strange reason. It does not show in our Samsung apps... actually I have nothing in there whatsoever, it is totally empty except two junk apps the phone comes with anyway.

It is not in that zip file.
If you installed it the APK should be in /system/app, which you can get to in Astro or My Files... it would be much appreciated if you could post it or PM it to me.
Today it also vanished in Europe from the samsung store.
Has anybody the apk?!
After reading this I went to my samsung app market to try to help. The app us also missing in mine too. It was there a few day before.

Thanks for looking.
It seem's we need somebody who has it already installed.
I installed it on my i9000, and I looked where you said it might be and it's not there, I just have the samsung apps.apk I did a search using Astro and nothing came up with the remocom.
Any other place I might look or it might be named?

I'd like to help you as I have the remocon app installed since the first day, however I don't see any /system/app location in Astro.
Is there someone who tried and succeeded with remocon on 2008/2009 TV model via router and ethernet?
I can see TV remote control on my Galaxy S (flashed to official JM1 with odin) French Orange carrier.
i flashed one other galaxy S (JM1 with odin) French SFR carrier and i don"t see the app...

I downloaded the apk file to my Motorola Milestone (Android 2.1), but it says "Download not successful. No application could be found for opening this file" (translated).
I downloaded it again, but still the same. Other downloaded apks work fine. Does somebody have a solution for that? Does it only work with Samsung phones?

I wish to install "Google Korean Keyboard IME" on the Samsung Galaxy Y.
But it is not showing in the MarketPlace. Searching on the PC Marketplace tells me that this app is not compatible. I see no reason why, unless this is due to screen resolution.
Can anyone check this out? Is the Marketplace in error saying that it is incompatible, in which case, can it be sideloaded? Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
I also have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus , and installed the Google Korean IME keyboard app with no problem for that device, as the app was happily listed in the marketplace.
But on the Samsung Galaxy Y, the Google Play (marketplace) does not list the Google Korean IME keyboard app, so I can't install it as I don't know any other method of installing an application other than the marketplace.
Get the apk from your Nexus, pass it to your SGY and install. If you don't know how to get apk's manually you can download the apkExtractor app in the market. Alternatively, you can just google for an apk, download and install.

Thanks, that was a great and very helpful explanation, which I was able to follow.
Using this method I successfully installed the keyboard on the Samsung Galaxy Y, but unfortunately it didn't allow me to use it, so I give up. The technique was very useful to know though.
You're welcome. There are a lot of apps in the market that say they are incompatible but some of them actually work pretty well with this phone, so you have to get them from other sources and try for yourself. XD

I've managed to change alll of the UI sounds by replacing them with my own .ogg files in /system/media/audio/ui however the keytap sound you hear when you press a keyboard key is still the original tap. I went as far as removing all of the .ogg files in the directory and only left the few custom sounds I made. They are for the UI touch (everything but the keyboard), screen lock and unlock, and a couple others.
As I'm using the samsung keyboard, I can only assume that the sounds for the samsung keyboard ui are located elsewhere, however I cannot for the life of me, locate them. Can anyone help with this at all? Can't find anything on the forums others than people suggesting doing what I've already done or using another keyboard. I don't want to use another keyboard. I have a modded themed keyboard that only works with samsung keyboard......... please help!
they are built into the keyboards apk.
Unzip the apk and you'll find them in the resources folder.

I tried that however when I put the apk back on the phone and verified the new sounds are in the apk, the samsung keyboard crashes when I try to use it.
I can't remember exactly what to do right now, but I'm pretty sure you have to reinsert the signatures a certain way for a system apk to work.
Been a while and I'm not at my computer right now so can't look it up yet. Google and you'll find it though.

Hello guys,
I am new to this forum and i already have a question.
A friend asked me if it is possible to extract the original firephone standard mail app on his Samsung Galaxy S3. I tried the normal method:
Copying the mail.apk in the /system/priv-app/ to his S3 into the /system/priv-app folder, too and then setting the right attributes.
After a reboot it seems to be installed, but right after booting it shows that the email app has crashed. A manual launch of the main app
isn't possible too. Is there away to flash it manually or did i choose the wrong method to copy that system app? Is it even possible to
do that? Is it compatible?
Hope my english isn't too bad.
I think it s not compatible and it needs to be ported.
