Just thought I'd check to see whether anyone else is experiencing this. When typing in landscape mode there is an occasional slight lag on typing that is not apparent when in portrait mode. Can anyone else confirm?
Its a bit intermittent and doesn't always happen right away though.
Yes I have experienced this quite a few times, and it is rather annoying. Only way to resolve it seems to be restarting the phone.
Hopefully its on their list of things to do!
Apparently this is an android keyboard bug. I've stopped experiencing it on a third party keyboard (go keyboard)

I am having the same problem hoping that a fix comes along soon it is a little annoying
The Nexus S had exactly the same problem, except it affected the keyboard in either orientation. I think they fixed it a few months after the handset released.
Just adding my $.02, I'm seeing the same lag in landscape on the VZW version of the phone too.
Huge lagggggggggg here!!!!! Pretty annoying because the keyboard is so great in ICS that I can finally type pretty fast and reliable. The lag slows me down.
If you go to your keyboard settings and turn off spell correction under language it fixes it...this does not break spell correction...not sure what that does.

Fix for lag via Droid Life

I would not consider disabling a feature of ICS a fix for this problem at all.

Bought the Motorola Bluetooth Keyboard with my WiFi Xoom since I figured I wouldn't have to worry about syncing using it. Certainly it paired up as easily as any keyboard I've ever owned.
HOWEVER - when I am typing a Gmail message, inevitably it will start after a few lines getting "stuck" on some letter (different ones) and just keep repeating until I turn off the keyboard. I then end up with an extra draft or two I have to delete, not to mention having to select several lines of a u or n or w or...
Is it just me? Known bug? Any solution in sight?
its a known bug for sure mine does the same thing im hoping that moto and google fix this soon cuz its really annoying sometimes. cuz i love this keyboard its got all of the shortcuts i could ever need

Just updated my 4.0.4 Yakju to 4.1.1 via the OTA, and I've already noticed something that I can attribute to what they said during Google I/O -- "the screen will now try to guess where you're going to touch next." Now, I'm not sure if that specifically is what's causing it (or if I just horribly misquoted from my very fail memory), but here's the problem:
I used to be able to scroll repeatedly and quickly with my thumb through a list up or down in quick succession (that is, flicking the screen up or down about two times every 1 or 1.5 seconds). Now when I do this, it will stop or slow down the scrolling to a CRAWL. I have to flick, and wait til it slows down or nearly stops, before flicking again. It doesn't always happen, but it happens probably 8/10 times. Inexplicably, it happens more often when trying to quickly scroll up, than down. Actually, it almost never happens when trying to scroll down, and it's not that I'm not making contact with the screen when going up, or touching it differently. I feel like it's just predicting where my thumb is going to be and stops the scrolling when I touch it again. It's very annoying! Aside from this, Jelly Bean is awesome!
So, is anyone else experiencing this? Am I crazy? Do I just need to get used to flicking, waiting, and flicking? Do dogs dream in color?
Also, not sure if this is posted in the right place or not; my apologies if it happens to be the latter.
Yes I do experience this but I got used to it since 4.1

I've been experiencing the same thing. I find that if you lock and then unlock your phone, the scrolling becomes smooth again.
I noticed something was wrong with scrolling. Hopefully this can be fixed.

I haven't noticed this at all. Scrolling is awesome in fact. I'll be glad to take a video of 4.1.1 of me scrolling through over 1000 songs, hundreds of contacts and easily flicking through, buttery smooth...
Haven't noticed this on 4.1 or 4.1.1.
Possibly a bug?

Weird that two of you haven't experienced this, but a few of us have. Wondering what variation you're running? Takju/Yakju/_______? GSM or CDMA (has it been released for CDMA phones yet)?
Maybe it's something specific to a certain build, or maybe it just exacerbates faulty hardware that wasn't noticeable before? Hmm..
I dont experience this at all. Maybe you are slightly touching the screen while pulling your thumb up to re-swipe down, thus slowing down the scroll? That has happened to me a few times, but that is normal behavior. When i try to scroll as fast as I can, like 3 fast swipes a second, there are no slowdowns at all.
Takju GSM here BTW running 4.1.1 deodexed.

Running Stock GSM Yakju non-deodexed 4.1.1
And nah, I made sure I double-checked myself for stupidity before posting, and it wasn't me! Aside from that, even if I was doing something wrong, it's not like I suddenly changed a habitual behavior between 4.0.4 and 4.1.1, there's something definitely going on differently. Especially since I was flick scrolling through twitter out of boredom prior to updating
I have this happening when using ondemand governor on 4.1.1. Interactive governor is smooth.
Probably it is related to specific apps?
I tried to scroll many times as fast as I can on the stock browser while browsing Engadget, and everything smooth. No wait no touch predictions.
But, for example, our beloved XDA app is now terrible. Stuttering, jerkey, janky and the keyboard input using SwiftKey is laggy.
I compared the keyboard input versus Facebook or Google+, I can feel clearly the XDA app is laggy.

It happens the most prominently for me when going to Settings > Apps > All and scrolling to the bottom, then attempting to flick quickly back to the top. For some reason, the behavior is *mostly* absent using Twitter, though it still exists. Weird that it happens more in some places than others, and that one of them is part of the Android UI (rather than an app).
That is the same bug we're talking here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576739
I've it since 4.0.4 (where multitouch bug disappeared and appeared this sensibvity touch bug)
I notice it a lot when scrolling pages in web browser.
Just lock and unlock GNexus to fix it.
But after some time, it appears again...

Fwiw i just tried this and had absolutely no issues. I tried multiple times scrolling to the bottom and up again and even being lazy with the height of my thumb it was fine. To stop it I'd have to press my thumb down mid scroll to scroll to stop it. I'm using OTE 4.1.1

I've never experienced that but if it's glitchiing like that and you capture with a screen shot it could be a defect in the gpu or a software problem, I'd suggest backing up your data and apps and doing a factory reset if the problem persists then it's time for an RMA

Anything?
Hello,
I seem to get this problem (sometimes on a more severe scale) since late. I use a rooted galaxy nexus running jelly bean.
I noticed this seems to happen (almost exclusively) when I use the google navigation app or play dead trigger (zombie shoot em up style)
during either of these activities, sometimes the whole phone glitches like so and freezes often causing me to restart the gps or the whole phone, its really annoying.
I was wondering if you had any luck with your issue
Sprint Version, OTA update on launch day.
Bug 1: Continually goes into "Car Mode". I'm not sure if it is somehow related to the holster I'm using or what, but I pull my phone out at least 20-30 times a day and it's in car mode. It becomes super annoying when you answer a call and it immediately goes to speaker phone. I tried "force stopping" this app, but that didn't work. Next step is to freeze it, but come on...I shouldn't have to do that. Weirdest bug I've ever seen. Anyone have insight about some auto-Car mode or pushing certain buttons turns it on automatically??? Weird.
Bug 2: When typing in the texting app (only place I've observed it). I'll get a few words in, then randomly, the cursor goes back to the beginning. It's been happening pretty consistently and I even noticed it on the demo model at the Sprint store (thought I had hit an arrow or something). This happens ~3-5 times per day and annoys the hell out of me.
Other than these, this phone is a BEAST. Super fast and beautiful screen. I'm missing CM10 and will definitely root/flash when the bootloader is cracked.
Anyone else notice bugs similar to these?

Those are ROM bugs. I think they will be fixed after JB 4.1.1 update in December

For the curser thing. Try Swiftkey. You'll absolutely love it, plus it fixes the keyboard curser issue
Thanks for the replies...
Bug 1: This is due to the magnet in the flap of my holster. I'm not a holster guy at all, but at work it's a must since I wear scrubs all day. I can reproduce the Car Mode by placing the phone close to the flap magnet. Makes me think they're going to have Car Mount accessories that will have a magnet and automatically turn Car Mode on when mounted. Also makes me think I need a different holster because my phone thinks it's in the care and I can't shut the damn Car Mode off (yet). Sigh.
Bug 2: It's not the keyboard. I know and like swiftkey, but like the stock android keyboard even more. I installed the AOSP 4.2 Keyboard 10 minutes after getting the phone. The bug lies in the Messaging app. I'm now running GO SMS without any issues....buuuuuttttt....I shouldn't need to do that to sidestep an annoyance in such a critical and basic app. Who the hell is testing these things and lets them out the door with even the slightest flaw in either the phone or SMS apps???
I'm missing my AOSP more and more. I love the phone and the hardware is quite impressive, but if this device doesn't get cracked and CM10 or 10.1 soon, I'll be swapping it out.
the only bug I've seen on this phone so far is that sometimes spell check does not work in the messaging app and then sometimes it does. (Spell check as in when it underlines an incorrectly spelled word in red)
I have noticed the bug #2 as well within the messaging app. Pretty annoying.

Ditto on the keyboard bug. Doesn't happen often enough to me to make me wanna change phones though...
I'm with you guys on the keyboard bug...as crazy as it sounds, I'm playing with the idea that this has to do with tilting gestures...I'm having a little success repeating the bug this way. I'll repost if I confirm this.

Dont have the keyboarding issue.
But i do occasionally have the Car Mode. bug I need this 4.1.1 update asap
Any fixes for Bug 2? My boyfriend & I got the same phone at the same time, and mine does this, his doesn't. I also think it has something to do with the tilt sensor. I'd appreciate any input if someone knows the cause. Thanks!
For 2, I use another messaging app and swift key flow and it doesn't do it anymore. Go SMS or the jelly bean app
Sent from my LG-LS970 using Tapatalk 2
I can confirm bug 2 when using SwiftKey 3 on the stock messaging app and especially when typing comments in websites.
the texting bugg has completely gotten annoying for me.. Cant type a full message without the arrow going back to the first word.

I use Swype but Swiftkey should work too. It is not the messaging app or the Rom.

I too believe it's the keyboard and the placement of it's keys. Using 4.2 keyboard and no problems. Just a taste of some AOSP to come. Hopefully (crossing fingers)
Has there been any official word when we are supposed to receive the update? I know it rolled out in Korea last month.

Anyone ever notice that the responsiveness of the touchscreen sometimes goes away? It will get sluggish and just plain unresponsive?
Happened to me this morning as I was scrolling through FB. Restarted the phone and it was fine.

Will try the Swiftkey because the swipe is not accurate in the stock ROM either, LG QC must be asleep because i noticed these the first day!!
Love the hardware too much but if the update does not come in 14 Days I will downgrade to the GIII.
Hey there, just want to consult something to you guys. For the past few days I am experiencing a bug in screen rotation. Seems like the phone cannot detect the accelerometer and it doesn't rotate the screen/app accordingly. I also tried Rotation Locker set to auto but it only rotates when I lock/unlock the phone. Apparently the issue can be fixed by restarting the phone but it goes back again. BTW, phone is stock unrooted MB2. I experienced this after MB2. Anyone having the same symptoms?

Disable smart rotation.

Also started experiencing this rotation bug with DMB2. I thought it was just because I was pushing the system to the edge.
The "smart rotation" comment above does not work. Only a restart does the trick.
This is so annoying. First, the battery issues. Now this?! Come on, Samsung. Don't kill my love for the Note 2 with your stupid updates.
Mine does the same and I have exhanged one unit because of it and still happens its weird wished samsung would fix it. Only seems to happen when I watch a video for long period of times. Dont have smart rotation enabled either its a strange one.
