Hello there,
did you reboot the phone? Did you link only apk or also dex and lib files of the applications?
How many apps are installed? You can view apps that are on the SD card but not on the ext partition. maybe they didnt get linked?
yes i did reboot the Mobile..and i have linked the dex and lib files too
there are 46-49 apps installed
yes it says ---> Linked
when im on sense, im using DT a2sd (ext4)
when im on CM base, im using S2E (ext4). I got more than 100mb free space after more than 50 apps installed.
so should i delete the old ext2 partition and make a ext4 one?
Use flashable data2sd script...it worked for me

It doesn't really matter.
I would suggest factory reset, then installing Link2SD.Open it, and tick "Auto link".Then install all apps you need, and you're fine.
By the way, that internal storage information from phone is not correct.
For example, I have 50 apps installed with 30mb free internal storage. Then I delete one app (2mb), and the phone shows 50mb free. So, it's not correct.Don't know why, but that's the way Link2SD works.I got used to it.
Anyway, if you have Class 6 or up sdcard, then I'd suggest using data2sd, otherwise, stick with Link2SD.

how can you tell what class sd card your using plz ?
I would also recommend S2E, like asdot said earlier.
It is in my opinion the easiest and best solution when you are using CM (7 or 9, both work).
Just install it from the market.
And it is true, if you have a slow SD card I would not use data2sd. The app S2E gives you the option to move apps only, not their data. I use that option and have a very fast phone with basically endless memory

Use antutu to test sdcard read/write speed.
Compare with this(write speed is what's important)
Hey guys,
I'm using Android 2.3.5 with Sense 2.1 (stock rom) and added Link2SD to my rooted phone some time ago. At first I was glad I had about 50mb of internal storage left after I moved all (!!!) linked every app to my SD-card. I don't know how, but the internal storage shrinked more and more and now I'm left with 10mb of free storage and that annoying message, that I'm running out of memory. I tried some cache cleaning apps but I just don't know what's eating up all of my memory!
Any ideas?
greetings
Link2sd leaves stuff in internal memory. My little wfs became a wonderful phone after I s-offed and rooted it, but then installed some custom roms, and some of which had A2SD built in. I installed all my apps and still had 75mb of free memory.
I am currently running CM9, and I used a custom script to move my apps and cache to my SD card. I have 123 MB of memory now. It's terrible

After failing to get simple2ext to work, and having Link2SD eat my SD card mutliple times, I was just about ready to give up on CM9 when I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1668247
Since then, my CM9 Alpha 7 install ahs been working very well. I could not be more pleased.
BTW: If you do run those scripts on an existing ROM (without Link2SD, Data2SD, or simple2ext, just do steps 1 and 2)

I don't know much about Link2SD, as i could never get it to work, but... I'm thinking if you move everything back to internal memory, and uninstall the startup scripts that mount the SD card, you should be able to run the scripts I used. I would make a full backup of my ROM before trying anything like that though. Ya never know...
You can try the following.
1. Go to link2sd. Clear cache, relink lib files and multi select anf link all.
2. Get titanium backup and integrate davlik cache into rom.
3. Enable auto link in link2sd.
4. Reboot.
Im using link2sd wid a lot of apps and have internal storage 60+ mb all the time.
Also uninstall any crap system apps you dont use because they'll just fill the internal memory.

Hi buddy...I had installed CM10 on my HTC wildfire & used Link2SD which was working good for the internal memory and applications part but had its own loops of data connection getting lost in between and wake up problem. This was irritating so i switched back to my Stock rom by CWM using Backup & restore. Now im glad to be back on my stock rom without all other problems but the problems of LOW INTERNAL MEMORY.
Is there really any way that i can properly install Link2Sd and make space free and have hell lot of apps just as i had when i was on CM10 ???
Please guide....i love having all my applications back...but on stock rom itself....please help.....

First flash eoghan's kernel on stock ROM which enables using of different scripts and link2SD..then partition SD card and flash the script or use link2SD as always..
And make sure you have a backup..
P S Instead of flashing the above you can also install crossfire's stock ROM or other stock based ROMs which have init.d support I.E you can partition SD card and install scripts and other stuff... Your options are Kimsmod ultimate, Wildchild or crossfire's stock ROM.

You terrible WRONG!!! Link2SD do the job correctly, learn it! and Internal Storage remains unused-free! When link an app, in Storage Info looks Internal Storage raised but when you make Quick Reboot Internal Stoage seems like a nothing get in there! |So! I search for days to finaly suffix the best to free Internal Storage without any mod file|
I make Factory data reset and device come back with ~30mb Internal Storage, i partition sd card and install Link2SD, mount 2nd partition. Install any app, Create link Quick Reboot and go on!!
Best Regards

There is something better than Link2sd
Something better is called [INT2EXT] and it has requirements:
1.Init.d Supported in ROM
2.SD Card Partition
how to install:
1.Wipe everything and
2. Re-partition SD Card
3. Re-flash ROM
4. Install the zip using CWM
to download the scripts (INT2EXT) please head here
Do not forget to press Thanks
Hi
I have CM7 on my Desire with the S2E app to move applications/data to a 1gb ext4 partition.
This has worked fine for months but there has always been an issue with some some apps (Gmail, Facebook) hanging and giving a FC - which is probably down to the (slow) class 4 SD card I have.
So, is it possible to manually move Gmail/Facebook apps back to the internal memory while keeping S2E installed?
If not, what are my alternatives for moving only select apps/data to the ext4 partition?
If I uninstall the S2E app, what happens to all the apps installed on ext4? Or simply, what is the best way to remove S2E?
Any help/advice is much appreciated!
Thanks.
With S2E its basically all or nothing. I'm using a class4 card as well and have no issues with Facebook or Gmail force closing on me. It really depend on what you move to the SD-EXT. I had S2E move everything except Application Data and Dalvik Cache.
The rule here is, the more system related stuff you move to the sd ext, the more information it needs to pull out from the sd card. If your sd card speed is not up to the task, thats where you get reboots or FC's.
Have you tried fix_permissions from terminal or recovery? That sometimes helps with FC issues.

Ran this earlier from terminal and it seems to have fixed the issue.
Many thanks.
You might create a folder on the original /data partition, move all app-relevant files and create symlinks on /sd-ext/data - the opposite of what Link2SD is doing...

hi i am using cm9 on my desire and i am wondering witch script/app is working best for increasing internal memory.
i was using a script a year ago (can't remember the name) but all my apps were freezing for a 2-3 seconds. i now installed link2sd with no issues but i can't understand what;s the diff with others, maybe s2e witch support CM is better? any help suggestion?
S2E and a2sd are mounting single folders from /sd-ext/ on top of the corresponfing /data/ folders, e.g. /sd-ext/app/ on /data/app/, i.e. the files go to the SD card instead of to the internal memory. Its called "bind mount".
Link2SD uses symbolic links instead of mounting folders, i.e. you can select which app/data/dalvik-cache goes to the SD card.
Both (bind mount and symbolic links) are cheap operations, once you open a file (read or write) one additonal step (the redirection) is needed. I don't understand why int2sd should be faster (something like "writes directly to the card"!?)...
One reason for read performance issues might be the missing "noatime, nodiratime" mount options - without them, each read operation on files and directions results in a write operation for updating the access time.

S2E is the easiest to install and use. You don't need to flash a separate script just install the app from the market and it is ready to go. If you have a working solution for a2sd already however I would leave it as is unless you are having problems.

What is the best setting for performance?
Here is the process, hoping it can help who would like to partition your sdcard
1.Backup sdcard data
2.Reboot into recovery, advanced > partition sd card
3. 1024MB, swap 0 (You can choose your own size, I heard that this swap doesn't matter much so I choose 0)
4.wait until it finished; it may take a few minutes
5. reboot and install S2E in Google Play
6. open S2E and you can choose what you want to move to sdcard
---------Originally I was trying to use A2SD but couldn't make it work.---------

Hey everyone,
I have recently rooted and S-OFF my HTC Desire, using Revolutionary.
I have partitioned my SD card and installed Mounts2SD application from Google Play store. Busybox and Init.d seem to be configured ok but still, Mounts2SD doesn't seem to work and I can't get my applications to use the 1GB partition off memory that I have dedicated on my SD card.

1. How did you partition your sd-card?
2. Did you configure m2sd correctly?
3. Are you one of those guys who think that the internal memory itself will be larger, thus expecting to see "1148 mb" of internal storage in settings? You will still see 148 mb, but the partition will be there, doing its job.
4. What did you move to sd-ext? Try moving app and dalvik cache.
Hello,
1. To partition my SD card, I booted the phone in recovery and I partitioned it from there. And I know it's done because my SD's memory is now 1GB less.
2. All the boxes in m2sd application are checked. It doesn't let me change anything.
3. I didn't expect to see the internal memory larger.
4. From what I read, I thought that after m2sd is configured, it will move the applications itself to sd-ext. So by still seeing 126/148MB of my internal memory occupied, I suppose this didn't happen. How can I move an app manually??

Ok. That explains it. Your sd-ext wasn't done properly. Check my guide for correctly partitioning your sd-card :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37383522#post37383522
Then use the mounts2sd flashable zip. It's safer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342387
I have followed your guidelines and installed 4Ext recovery. Then i partitioned my SD card with that and i installed m2sd using the flashable zip.
Then still m2sd not working and i'm still getting the annoying low space notification. So i installed FreeSpace and it seems like i don't have an ext partition. The only things it shows there are:
- Cache 40MB
- Data 147MB
- SD-card 2731MB
- System 250MB
My SD card is 3.66GB. So from that, the conclusion is that the partition was created but the system cannot access it..?? What could be wrong?? How should i proceed? Just try to partition the SD again??
Thanks a lot

Yes, partition your sd-card again.
1gb goes to your sd-ext. It's normal for freespace to show 2731 mb.
For some reason my phone couldn't access SD-ext, even if it was partitioned correctly and in recovery it could see it. So i wiped everything and istalled a new ROM. Now it works perfectly!
Thanks a lot for the assistance!
