My girlfriend just picked up a Wildfire S on Virgin Mobile USA on Nov 25th 2011(last week) at radio shack. It came stock with android version 2.3.4(ive seen most used to be 2.3.3). I was able to use the GOLDCARD to get s-off, then used the root file. From there she has been using the phone since. Then we learn about the low internal storage. In an attempt to get more internal storage, I flashed the [ROM]Wildfire S -JikantaruROM XE™ based on the install instructions on that page. The flash went well, but.... The wifi would not connect, It was not finding any data for Virgin Mobile or sprint or anything. I then tried another rom, but same issues. I then tried to flash to one of the stock roms titled "RUU_Marvel_Virgin_Mobile_1.37.351.1_Radio_47.10.35.3029H_7.46.35.08_release_188032_signed.exe", the program got up to 22%, then the phone kinda just shut off, then the program errored out.
Now when I try to turn on the phone, it will just vibrate 3 times. I have tried powering on with power, power and volume -, no bootloader. just 3 vibrations, not vibrations with green or orange led lighting up with the vibrations(as I have found online). Does this mean its bricked??
there a way to fix it by creating a goldcard and run the ruu now press ctrl+r and type %temp% once your temp folder loads do a search in the temp folder for rom.zip rename that to to cant remember ill edit this post in a minute with the name you now copy the renamed file to the root of your sdcard and boot the phone as if you were going into hboot leave the phone for half and hour to 45 minutes to be on the safe side you the pull the battery and put it in again now try and boot your phone that worked on my mates wfs lets hope it works for you.
edit: rename it to PG76DIAG.zip its case senseitive.
p.s. most of the custom roms here are for gsm handsents and NOT cdma.
In fact ALL are for gsm. Do not flash anything before reading... Also, ALWAYS backup.

I tried using the same Virgin Mobile RUU and my phone too is dead. I tried following the directions in the 2nd post, I did not get anywhere with them...at least I have only had this thing less than a week and Best Buy will take it back.

Is the correct filename not PG76IMG.zip?
I dont understand how I can create a goldcard if the phone will not power on. doesnt the sd card have to be in the phone in order to get the number from the sd card??
anyways, I think I will just bring it back to radioshack and get it replaced. What are the possibilities of finding a cdma rom for this phone??

If the phone vibrates three times and then flashes orange when you turn it on, you are in the radio bootloader, and not fully bricked yet.
If you hook up your usb cable, it will look for HTC Diagnostic Interface driver and install a virtual COM port for it. Then you could use putty/mutty to connect.
Now you can use radata to flash to a certain offset and size, but the image has to be in RAM, so unless you JTAG'd it, it probably wont work.
Here are more commands, but only available if you're s-off. Maybe someone else knows how we can flash in radio bootloader mode.

Hi mate, i think that the Ruu was maybe the uk version of virgin mobile not usa and if im on the right line us uses cdma uk is gsm, so maybe it froze up trying to install the radio which was incompatible.
Ive also seen a thread about the 3 vibrations apparently its a hardware diagnostic mode if you search there are solutions.

Nope, as I stated in the first post. just 3 vibrations, not vibrations with green or orange led lighting up with the vibrations(as I have found online). anyways, I already returned the phone and got a new one. but i believe it to be the whole gsm/cdma differences. makes a lot of sense.
Can you make the directions more clear? I have a hard time understanding them.
The same think happened to me when I tried to used the (what I now know) the wrong RUU on my Virgin Mobile Wildfire S.
Same thing happened to me. My phone just vibrates 3 times then nothing. Did anyone find a fix to this?
It means its in quallcom diagnostic mode. I dunno how to get it out. But those terms in google should help.

Hello,
I am using a Sprint TP2 and just tried changing my ROM from Stock to Energy Leo ROM.
I installed the Hard SPL Unlocker and it seemed to work fine. I then went to flash the new ROM and it seemed to load fine, but upon restarting, it locked on the "Touch Pro2" startup screen.
I am thinking that I probably installed the GSM version of the new ROM, so I will need to install the CDMA version.
I am able to get to the bootloader screen and when I go to directly change the ROM from the GSM version to the CDMA version, the RUU seems to be working, appears to be able to access my phone, and starts the install.
My phone switches to the progress bar screen BUT both my PC and my phone stay at 0% until my PC displays an error message (#262).
What do I do to either re-install the Sprint Stock ROM or get my phone to change to the CDMA version of the ROM??
HELP!!!!
Thanks so much.
Why can't you get the device into bootloader mode?
I read a post about someone else that did the same thing, flash gsm rom to cdma device, and he put his device into bootloader and flashed the cdma rom and everything was back to normal.
I have to try a couple times to get to bootloader mode because its hard to hold down the power button, vol down and press the stylus reset, sometimes i get a friend to help and works out fine.
I'm able to get the device into Bootloader mode but it doesn't do anything when I use the RUU (my phone is attached to my PC via usb), it stays at 0% and then comes up with an error. I'm going to try to see if I can load the new ROM from my micro SD card.... let's hope it works...
UPDATE:
I put the new ROM nbh file onto my micro sd card and put it into my phone and entered bootloader, it flashed a quick screen that said "Loading" and then "No image file found!" and then returned to the bootloader screen. What can I do???
More info:
My bootloader screen reads:
RHOD400 32M SS_BC
SPL-0.63.0000
MicroP(LED) 0x0A
MicroP(Key) 0x04
TURBO HW/TURBO SW
TP MFG DATA

Hello, just wondering if anyone was able to help me. This thread has had many views but no suggestions. Anything is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
Thank so much!
When you flashed via microSD, did you name the ROM file rhodimg.nbh? It has to be named rhodimg.nbh in order to be detected by the SPL.
Yes, I did make sure that the file was titled that. I'm beginning to think that my phone isn't correctly unlocked, so if that's the case, is there any way of applying Hard-SPL via a Micro SD card?
Did the same mistake, and was also having problems to fix, in my case what was wrong was the card was formated FAT instead of FAT32, after reformat/recopied the CORRECT version of LEO and renamed to RHODIMG.nbh/ Volume Down + Power it worked perfectly!
Hope it helps!
SO CLOSE!! I re-formatted my Micro SD card to FAT-32 and re-inserted the card and loaded my phone into Bootloader and it stayed on the white "Loading" screen with blue letters!!!! GRR!!!! Any ideas? Where can I find a ".nbh" file for the Hard-SPL? Maybe I didn't unlock it correctly??

Yeah, looking at your bootloader readout that you posted in the third post, I now see that you don't appear to have HardSPL on your device. As far as I know, there's no way to apply HardSPL without being able to boot into Windows Mobile, since HardSPL needs a SSPL to flash it. It seems you should flash back the stock ROM, but unfortunately the stock ROM doesn't seem to exist as an official, signed download. I'm not sure what else you can do to unlock with HardSPL, other than wait for the Sprint 6.5 ROM update (expected by end of Q1 2010).

If it says something like "rebuilt", "reconstructed", or anything that indicates that it was dumped off the phone and rebuilt, then no. See, you need a signed ROM, and dumping a stock ROM off a device and rebuilding it breaks the signature on the ROM, so a stock SPL won't flash it.
vol dn pwr on
all you have to do is hold volume dwn then power on.

Thank you guys for all your help, I also flashed a GSM rom to my CDMA phone I was scared I had bricked it.. Nobie here but it worked like a charm
Hi guys, Well after trawling through the wealth of information on this site and reading till my eyes bleed I honestly cant seem to fix this.
I was hoping and preying some amazingly talented expert here could maybe point me in the right direction.
Ok so heres whats going on. Got my HTC Desire, Told me there was a system update. So I chose to install ofcourse. Then BAM! for no reason half way through installation the phone dies. Vibrates 7 times and black screen (Searched this too) - nothing.
So pulled battery, waited for a few minutes and put in, power on. Phone gets to HTC (white screen) the freezes. Or even sometimes just switches off and vibrates 7 times again!
So I found An RUU for 3 mobile - RUU_Bravo_H3G_UK_1.22.771.1_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127568_signed
Tried running it with the phone in fastboot usb
All was going well then reached about 80% and gave me an error code 110. Telling me to download a complete RUU for my device.
Now when I power on the screen is just black, however I know it still has some functionality as I can hear the sound for device connection in Windows when I Power on holding down Vol-
now I thought I would be clever and seeing as whilst my phone was working it downloaded the "correct" update. So checked the sd card and found it in the Downloads folder. Renamed it to PB99IMG and tried booting the phone holding down the back key. But still nothing.
By the way the phone isnt rooted and is very very very new. On 3 mobile UK network.
Can anybody please give me some pointers on how I may be able to go about fixing this? Im sure there has to be some way as it still has "some functionalty" (I think lol)
Also tried the adb method of connecting or re-flashing but device is not found.
Cheers all
Sounds like the RUU is corrupt - what is the file size?
Also, is that the one your Desire came with? If not, that won't work anyway
Also, an OTA shouldn't be named PB99IMG as that's only for RUU files - you rename an OTA update.zip and flash it in recovery. Looks like you've not read enough
Hi, thanks for the quick reply.
The RUU I tried installing that failed was from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667
RUU_Bravo_H3G_UK_1.22.771.1_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127568_signed.exe
Filesize is 153mb. It matched the version number that my htc shipped with and even says when running the RUU that both versions are the same. But as it failed I tried the Update from my network provider that I found on the SD card by renaming to PB99IMG.zip and holding Back and Power down.
Looks like Im buggered I suppose. Im still trying to get my phones CID as Im guessing then I can install any RUU for my phone?
I just cant access anything to get the CID
The PB99IMG can ONLY be used when extracting it from an RUU
The one you got OTA (Over The Air) isn't a full ROM - it's just a 30MB-odd update
Download the RUU from here:
http://www.4shared.com/get/t2SsuYNF...sionid=2D4E782FB44E2CF020622A15F76C1A5A.dc278
(Shipped-ROMs.com can lead to corrupt downloads)
And then follow the guide I attached to this post - it's how to extract the PB99IMG from an RUU:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10509780&postcount=102
Thank you so much! Will try now and let you know how it goes.
Thanks again
Still no good. Its tricky as I cant see the screen to select the options. But Ive followed the guide allowing it enough time to load before choosing yes etc and still no joy. Im not even sure the PBIMG99.zip is loading.
I've even tried running the RUU again from the PC after Holding vol - and Power down and waiting for the sound in windows that its connected. But gives me error code 110 again saying it cannot read files.
Loos like Im going to have to send it back to my supplier. Although Im sure they will blame me for everything and refuse me a new handset! lol
Once you have the correct PB99IMG file, you copy it onto the root of the SD card (not in any folders) and then turn the phone on holding volume down. You don't have to do anything else as it'll find the file and ask if you want to use it
To try the RUU turn the phone on holding the BACK button to get into FASTBOOT, connect to the PC and when it says FASTBOOT USB on the screen of the phone run the RUU
Out of interest, when you boot into HBOOT when info do you see at the top of screen?
Thats the problem. My screen is blank. I used to be able to get into Hboot and fastboot and see the screen. Now I dont see anything. But Im sure its still going into hboot etc as I hear the connection sound windows makes when holding vol and power.
Hope that makes sense?
Edit. I do know that before all went wrong I had hboot 93 or something like that.
Right, sounds like you've flashed a ROM for an AMOLED Desire onto an SLCD one...
Oh! poooooooh. Well thanks for trying. I never even got to use the stupid thing! lol
There is a thread on here to try and use to sort it out - look through the Q&A section
have u fixed it please ?? I got the same problems now......
thx

The thread Eddy referred to, was probably this..You should be able to do it even if blindfolded
HI. Okay, so a couple weeks ago, I received a notification from HTC that said there was a new update available. Since I had S-Off and an unlocked bootloader (don't ask why, I just ****ing do.) I could not update, as it would give me errors, and cancel the update. So, earlier today I was fed-up with how slow my phone was being, and I wanted to fix it by updating. So I scoured XDA and found a thread about how to update by updating the HBoot or whatever. I followed those instructions and everything was fine, until I got to the initial part of installing the new **** through RUU. It was running fine, and then all of a sudden, the phone disconnected and ****ed the installation up. My battery was fully charged, and still has a charge as I am writing this. I digress. Whenever I would try to power my phone on, I would feel THREE (3) vibrations, and nothing would happen after. I tried booting into the stock recovery (fastboot, recovery, etc) and would still get THREE (3) vibrations. Bricked. So, I looked through a few threads on XDA, and found a few ways to fix it. Something about a Blind HBoot, or a Qualcomm Diagnostic Mode being stuck or something. Figured it was my best shot to try these. I tried them all. I put the PG76IMG.zip into my SD card, and booted up when holding Volume down, and only got THREE (3) vibrations. The tutorial said I was supposed to get FIVE (5) vibrations. So, I thought maybe it was something strange, and kept going through the tutorial. After five minutes, I'm supposed to press VOL UP, and should feel THREE (3) vibrations. Nothing happened. I waited and waited and tried again, and still, nothing. My phone is still lying here as a paperweight, and I want to get this working, so I can sell it because this phone is too much of a ****ing hassle for me. NOTHING HAS WORKED. ROMS, KERNELS, NOTHING. HAS. WORKED. I'M TIRED OF IT. I'm not a noob, I've been working with Android phones for a long time, and have never quite used an HTC device before. I had a Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate (CDMA) and it lost it's flash after I had moved to a different state. (The state I'm in does not have any towers for that carrier here.) SO. Can ANYONE give me a HIGHLY DETAILED tutorial, STEP BY STEP, to fix my phone?

Never had a brick

ok, im not saying i can get it going again but i`ll do my best to help. lets start from the beginning, what actually works atm? you say when you try boot up the phone in any way it just vibrates 3 times.
does it do anything else, does the screen light up?
does it even stay on?
when you connect it to the charger does the led still light up?
have you tried to connect it to the pc? have you tried to connect it too the pc with volume down first?
all seem very basic stuff obviously but if the pc can register it in hboot we might be able to get a ruu running on it.
Found this on a different thread...
Nevermind. Just realized you were still getting three vibrates. Sorry man. I'll keep an eye out if I see anything else that might help.
what is your hboot version? i was see 1.09.099 like in forum maybe you can start with update hboot.
you can use adb for all of this works. download a ruu and run it. after some steps you can find rom.zip in windows/temp extract it to a folder like c:\android\rom and use adb for install all *.img files. maybe it can fix that problem

seriously , adb can install img files ?!
Alright, well, I called htc and told them about my problem, and I might have to just send it in. BUT. I had my phone rooted, and had CM Recovery on it. So, since nothing is booting up at all, only the three vibrates when trying to enter either boot mode, will they be able to see that I had it rooted or anything? They said they'll charge 35$ just to ship it back in the same condition if it is. Can't really afford anything like that right now.
tl;dr I had my phone rooted, but nothing on my phone comes up, will they see my root or anything?
if you are rooted you are probably s-off or at least have unlocked bootloader. and both they will find out very easily.
Sorry for my bad it was fastboot.exe you can install .img files with fastboot.exe i was installed stock recovery with that

I have tried several thread tutorials but have still not solved my problem. I know what my problem is, It is in Diagnostic mode/Download mode because I F***** up the radio trying to revert to stock via RUU_Gsm_virginmobileusa.exe(Not the exact name but you get my point) It was apparently the UK version of the RUU which makes me f****** wonder why it has USA in the name.Back to my point, when I hold power it vibrates 3 times with no orange/green L.E.D. It is a VIRGINMOBILE USA CDMA phone and was previously rooted and loaded with CM9 but the user did not like it so wanted it reverted to stock. It has Clockwork mod and all that stuff so anything I can do to fix it would be great. Help would be greatly appreciated.

OK so have you tried to blind boot the phone with a ruu-rom.zip on a sdcard? If this has not worked you may be out of luck. Jtag is always an option but you would need to find someone who has one/knows how to use it. The HTC sensation forums has a unbricking process that helps with people that do a wrong s-on and get stuck in download mode. You may be able to ask them for help or use some of there ideas to make solution. Giving credit where its due ofc

I am pretty sure thats what I did. Its where you load the PG176IMG onto the phone and try the volume up,wait, volume up thing?
I tried it, but could not find a CLEAR way to do it. All sites gave me different things. If someone could write CLEAR instructions I would probably have better luck.
If you are getting vibrates when trying to boot your phone. do the following:
Download
earlier build with old hboot ver flashable from sd card.
google, you will find it.
backup your SD card, format it fat 32 and place this file on the root of your card. Be sure to rename it PG76IMG.zip
Once it is on your sd card, verify the MD5 to ensure the file was not corrupted during the download or during the transfer.
Hold Vol down + power. you will feel 5 vibrations
wait for a god 2 to 3 min. if everything is going correctly, your phone is verifying the IMG file and this takes a bit.
after 2 to 3 min. wait one more min
now, press vol up. this tells the phone to update.
wait 2 to 3 min for the update to happen then wait one more.
press vol up again. you should feel the phone single vibrate and then presto.. working phone again
next time be more careful

Hboot ver flashable from sd card?
tried to follow the instruction given and I cant get the 5 vibrations to signify hboot has started.
Hey everybody,
It looks like I'm in serious trouble.
I tried updating/unbranding (and root after) an HTC Desire that looks it was branded to T-Mobile Germany.
Made a goldcard for it, put the CID in, made the goldcard.img, formatted the SD card and it returned a success message.
Well, eventualy it was anything else than success.
I tried to flash RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.4_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_122704 and it came back with a Error 110.
I bet it run into a RADIO_v2 FAIL-PU while flashing (tried with manual IMG files on FASTBOOT to update the firmware and everything else would be a success except that).
I even tried flashing different radios, I didn't try all of them but a couple haven't worked.
But then, intrestingly, I flashed into RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed and it didn't come up with any error.
Then the phone opened up, everything worked except it would say "No SIM card is inserted".
I literaly did everything, and the results would vary from a phone bricked to a phone that works perfectly (WIFI, Bluetooth, camera, facebook, anything you can imagine works) except it won't recognize the SIM card.
I can also confirm that the SIM card is working (tried on a different phone, and I tried cleaning the SIM socket if there is something obstructing it.
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong here but I can't find what it is!
I'd be pleased if somebody could help me with the issue, I'm into some real panic since I really think I tried everything. I can provide any info that may be important to the solution so please ask me what's needed.
Phone is S-OFF into some weird number of HBOOT, it doesn't start with 0.XX like all the phones I saw on the net, it was something like 5. something (can check later if it's that important)
Also it came with a "Revolutionary" purple text up left on HBOOT screen, possibly somebody tried to root or S-OFF it (obviously S-OFF worked but not root, it seemed like it was incorectly rooted prior to me touching it)
Thanx in advance!
Try flashing the 2.3 RUU PB99IMG.zip.
Download it, and put it on the root of your sd card. Then turn the phone off, and go into bootloader mode by holding volume down and power. From there it will search for the file and ask if you want to flash. Press volume up to confirm then reboot.
Turns out it's a hardware failure, the sd stopped to work too and I found out that the connections under the board are inevitably getting worn out by time (design fail) to a point that it's unusable. Thanx everybody for the help.
no sim

@tbish
Definitely no, this is an RUU (not radio) for an HTC Desire (Bravo)
You have a different device, search in correct section
