Hey devs! - HTC Wildfire S

Can the cdma version from vm get some love? We have s-off and really no reason to have it. Can we get an oc kernel, stock vm ROM with a2sd support or maybe some cm7 love?
I'm willing to test and report, we just need SOMETHING.

I'm most likely gonna start building roms for this phone once I get a new computer

You obviously posted at the themes section man!

Crap. Stupid fat fingers. Can someone move this to general?

[Q] MARVELC ROMS: A myth?

I noticed there are a lot of ROMs posted here for MARVEL but not seeing any for MARVELC. From what I can tell it's that nobody fixes a kernel to support both the device and the ROM.
Also I'm guessing the MARVELC users are a minority in the Wildfire S ROM community otherwise there'd more ROMs or at least a kernel compatible with MARVELC devices available with these ROMs.
All I have found so far is talk about eventually being MARVELC supported in the Unofficial CM7 port and reference to an alpha version with MARVELC support. Though nothing on either from this year.
Only thing I can find are stock ROMs posted by Rob (insink71), and a closed beta of a Euro RUU port he's also doing (I'd offer to test, but can't post to dev forum).
So am I missing something or are there no custom ROMs for MARVELC owners?
Yeah Marvelc seems to be the minority in my opinion. We do have some people working on things but they aren't going as fast as the Marvel development since we don't have as many people. I think .sense 3.5 supports marvel, marvelc, and marvelct.
No, you are correct. There are no custom ROMs for the Marvelc WFS.
Rob is about the only one developing for the Marvelc platform. All his ROMs are stock, with a2sd to help out with the WFS limited internal storage. I do recommend getting the one for your carrier. (The MetroPCS ROM is on Android-Forums, in case that's the one ya need.)
Rob is currently building a universal 2.3.5 stock (for all Marvelc users on any carrier) ROM being built from the MetroPCS RUU, but its still being worked on and isn't quite ready for testing.
Myself, I don't care if Cyanogen ever gets ported to Marvelc. While its a great ROM, I had it on my Optimus M and my Kindle Fire and found that while it is feature rich, unless the phone gets official CM, 70% of those features never work. So ill stick with stock base for stability.
I just hate Sense. Give me stock+Sense-less+a2sd, I'm happy.

You could have bought the Galaxy Ace, cause it's senseless.
its funny because the cdma/a510c was the first to get unlocked boot loader but there are far more gsm users because they are on a plan...as we are on pay as you go/ metro as well
Well, actually me and rob (insink) are team marvelusc. We are working on alot of cdma development. Currently i have a bugless speedy stock rom, with overclock kernel and theoretical data speed improvements. We are still working on CM7, although its a slow moving train. I just got back from having no pc, so im ready to start deving again. Expect alot for the marvelc coming
Wow sounds good! Thanks!

Welcome back and I look forward to it.
Currently I'm using the following:
[ROM]Stock 2.3.4, Sense 2.1[Rooted][Apps2sd][MetroPCS]- Only for marvelc
KERNEL][MARVELC][A510c] 2.6.35 Jmz Wildfire S OC Kernel 18FEB12
Both working great.

Actually I just got it to boot but didn't like it because of the android.phone process closing notification all the time. As soon as I get 10 posts, I'm going to post on that thread. And yes, I'm using Marvelc (VMUSA)
I just updated last night.the rom is
bugless and everything works.we are the only ROM with this set of features and we even enabled HTC stock USB tether.find aROM with that

I think the problem is MetroPCS doesn't like their phones missing certain apps. I removed their Easy WiFi app to install the version that came in the FOTA update the other day and couldn't use my WiFi till I put the new version on. Which I thought weird since I set the connection up through the phone's WiFi settings, not their app.
Bump

Well, I can attempt a Rom mod for metro. I need donations first though as I don't have the device, so naturally I'm working on my own device I can test on but donate, and ill get one up this weekend

Guide for converting to MTD?

Is there a guide for converting a phone from RFS to MTD? My gf's device (Galaxy Prevail) has a pretty good build of cm7, however it's built over EXT4, which is ****. She loves the cm7 build but can only seem to use it for a few weeks before performance and stability comes to a hault, so I was wondering how difficult it would be to do this, or if it's even possible for her device, and where I could find a guide/further info on how I could attempt to get it accomplished. I know this isn't Epic related, but "their" devs are kinda morons, and I trust our dev community a lot more, so I'm asking here.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
I think you should head over to the epic channel, cm devs would help you with your problem.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
Cause they're f'kin awesome. I'll definitely go there and hit them up, thanks.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
If it is anything like our phone it will need a conversion script and a custom kernel to support the MTD partition. Might be hard to do without the Dev having the phone to work with.
Then I guess it's time for me to learn more.

please help me....

I am looking for a completely barebones version of ics for this phone. No touch, no sense, no rainbows, no flying unicorns, etc etc. I just want a base version with no bloat and no modifications. I would also like very specific instructions as to how to get it on to my phone because i am not technically savvy and my phone is my lifeline so bricking is the worst thing that can happen to me. If someone can point me to what i need then please delete this thread. i will answer any questions anyone has for me. thanks in advance.

grrrrrrrrrrrr.......hahaha
(WARNING! The following is my opinion only!)
If your phone is your lifeline, and you HAVE to have it be as solid as possible with no glitches whatsoever, you have no choice but to run either 100% unrooted stock, or something like Mr X's stock rooted ROM.
All other ICS builds are hacks (some very good ones, but hacks nonetheless).
ICS official will be released in the next couple of weeks for our phone and I would suggest be patient.
Or you can root and remove the bloat /carrier iq yourself.
which for me has been the most functional/stable.
Theres alot of very good roms here.
Not everyone has the same issues,so you just have to flash and see.
Going back to stock is a cinch.
The best I flashed was digital warfare.
I WISH raverx3x selfkang ICS is good to go,but alas...

Lol just checked...
Aosp ics is on the board in development.

Just what I've been waiting to find
Thanks!!! Just super wipe and flash?
I'd love to have a rooted almost stock Tmo I.C.S. ROM...
sorry to ask this here, but when you say kernel is insecure, do you just mean that you edited the default.prop ro.secure=0 ? or is there more to it than that? i am just trying to learn
thanks

This is strictly my opinion, but I'd wait until someone releases a ROM with these minor things worked out. We've got a lot of great devs working on this phone and judging by what we've seen with the skyrocket leaks, it won't be long at all before we see a lot of stuff worth flashing. This one is marked as a base, so I'd wait for some things to be ironed out.

I agree cause the delay after you select something is crazy slow its not useable right now its running like how the first skyrocket leak was remember

Yes lag is very present I'd wait, I think he just posted this as a starting point so unless your a Dev this is no good to you at the moment , but there's some good guys working on it so stay tuned
no data and very laggy.
Wonder why so laggy and no data?

OK so here is my question, out of curiosity.. we have a system dump along with the leaked radio and kernel. Why does a dev need a base? Is the system dump and kernel not enough to make a base from? Jw?

Guide to help fix our jb modem on aosp roms

Here's what a dev told me to do. But I have no idea how to do it.
Hope this can help a dev here.
didhiy QUOTE=Jshugzda]Hey buddy its been awhile how have you been? I need some help from you I have moved on to the epic touch and was wondering if u could try and help us get our jb modems to work on aosp roms or maybe use another modem from another phone?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium[/QUOTE]
I know nothing about epic touch, but I have some idea about modem problem.
1. Compare the stock kernel source between ics and jb to see any changes in samsung modemctl.
2. Use same ril blobs (rild, gpsd, libril etc) with the modem version.
And just a possibility to update modem from cwm, from nexus s patch
https://github.com/didhiy/android_k...mmit/43f48527a0a9c1708b2804efbfffc00dcc1aac33
maybe try to find something like that in toroplus kernel source[/QUOTE]

Bumping this to see if a dev can either rule it out our run with it.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Based on who is left working on the Epic 4g Touch, and their current projects that I am aware of, I'm going to take a leap and say nobody is likely to do this. Even when the developers who have moved on were around this device, I don't know of anyone thinking this would be a good way to spend some time. "Just sayin..." keep using the modems that work with AOSP. Cheers.
