Hi, I tried this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1361368&page=1 but I do not like the app2sd because the memory is larger than normal after a while by app ends, then I prefer the data2whatever that lasts much longer. there is a way to replace the app2sd data2whatever with this rom?
sorry for the bad English, are Italian

I've googled around a fair bit but nothing realy interesting came up. So what's the difference, is DATA2SD really supperior to A2SD+ in every way?
end_of_message / COMPUTOR4500
A2SD+ = app + Dalvik cache on the external SD (through an ext2/3/4 partition) BUT your data app remains on the internal storage.
Data2SD = app + Dalvik cache + data on the external SD.
With DATA2SD you might get much more free space for apps BUT if you have a slow sd-card your phone can become more slowly when it comes to overall performance and especially starting apps as they are completly on sd-card.
So if you donĀ“t have that much apps you should go with A2SD
Thanks, that's good to know

i prefer data2sd, for me is better and if u have a good class sd, i think it may improve my desire speed..
oxygen 2.2.2 without data2sd about 1700 quadrant;
oxygen 2.2.2 with data2d about 2200/2300 quadrant points.
my sd is a SanDisk 8 Gb class4.

It has been discussed million times, that the data2sd/d2w/d2ext scripts fool quadrant, so you get FAKE scores, which do not reflect the actual score.
Altough it is good to show off to others
I have class 10 card and it's slow as sh*t.
Agree with both posts above. All data2sd and data2ext Roms are slow and laggy.

Because sd card class doesn't guarantee high sequential read and write speeds crucial for d2sd. He might have a lower class card and yet get better scores than you.

Quadrant == language of the ignorants.
I also found data2sd roms slower than a2sd, even with class 10 card. you got plenty of space with a2sd so i don't really see the point going data2sd

I disagree, all data2sd RoMs I have used are super fast and get zero lag. only time phone will lag is when installing an app and its only for couple seconds.
If you partition your phone right and use Gparted and have a good brand sd card your good to go.
Does it improve the lag if install the app of SD Speed Increase(from Market) and change the setting to 2048kb or 3072kb?
No. This setting doesn't improve anything, all positive effects are placebos.

So far so good with mine running MIUI rom data2sd.2gb of internal memory.sweet

Has anyone used a rom with Data2SD that has Sense and isn't laggy? I use a 16GB Class 6 Card. Any help would be deeply appreciated, Thank you!
I recommend to try this one:

Never tried myself, but it seems droidzone gives good support for this rom and he is very experienced in data2sd roms with sense.
Hello,
To keep it short. I am looking for any other cool things to do with my phone (rooted/S-offed) to increase performance or just cool things to F around There must be tons of possibilities with a rooted/S-offed phone
So far I have done a few:
Custom ROM recent CM7 nightly #208
Juwe's RAM optimization script
Custom theme
SD card ext3 partition for all my apps, so I have plenty of internal memory left
adfree app to block app ads
camera "less picture compression" script
I know I could try different ROM's but I am quite pleased with CM7 so I think I'll just stay with this one for now
Cheers
Could try some stickers lol. Only joking, have you looked into custom mtd? Very good for extra internal memory.

Just a quick and probably silly question about MTD partitioning. (I know the answer for a PC, but not for a smartphone.)
If I resized my MTD and free up internal memory, would this increase the benefits from the JUWES or V6 Ram optimisation or is it just for more storage space for apps?
Its just app storage. RAM (Which Juwe's Script and V6 Supercharger Script optimize) and ROM (Which Custom MTD alters) are different.
Try R3ds themes for cm7... u can get from android market itself.
Most amazing themes ever!!

OpenGL would optimise app/games performance!
is there a way to increase ram?? how to over clock wildfire s??
You can overclock Wildfire S up to 806 Mhz with Alquez's CyanogenMod 7
cm7 port is not fullly developed i wud lik 2 w8 for it 2 fully develop...i just installed JikantaruROM XE yest...can i over clock in JikantaruROM XE??? what about ram?
Can't increase RAM, and CM7 is 99% fully developed only thing left is camera flash.
512MB RAM is good, no reason to expand it by swap or something else.
tat 1% is oly important 2 me...hope it is fixed soon....512 ram in tat 250 is always occupied
are you talking about RAM or system flash memory? both start at 512mb but both go down quite a lot. RAM ends up about 300 before boot and about 200 after everything's running. System memory goes down to about 70 with stock ROM and about 120 with a cleaned out ROM, but drops by about 40mb just from syncing contacts and gmail, etc.
data2sd or another similar app let's you have up to 2gb of system flash memory. Remember these are completely different from RAM. you can't really increase the ram.
The only way to 'expand' your ram would be a swap partition on your sd, but this isn't the best way, because it's damn slow and should only be used as fallback within alert situations. I also don't know if sense roms support it.
Swyped from my HTC Desire S
What obvious reasons to use swap in this device? Which app consumes whole system memory? Any ROM with plenty widgets fired on gives 200MB free ...
im talking about the RAM...200 is always occupied...250 is free after killing all the unwanted apps
I flashed the final evolved rom to my evo "r3 charged final"
I have noticed that with all the roms I flashed since 2.3 came out that i have very little free memory the previous rom I had about 130 megs but now I'm running 80 -100 and that is with a task killer set on 1 min kill intervals.
I read about low ram and something called HSPL but i have no idea what it is or how I can flash it
can any one help
also on the rom install i wiped the phone and even formatted the sd card so i know the install was clean ( it also runs really good until the memory gets below 70megs )
thanks for your help
Had the same problem, you need to partition your SD card and install apps 2 SD., I use one called dta2sd( dark tremors Apps2sd. Before using I used to get low memory messages all the time...
Give it a try it helped me out..

is this for you to move your apps to or is this to use like ram it appears that my phone is running low on ram for the running processes but not room for storage ( I moved almost all my apps to the sd card already )
thanks for your quick reply above
Think its for more memory space for apps, but it must create more system memory as well, because before I used it I had moved all my apps to SD, but I was still running low on memory. Since Ive used apps2sd ive had no more memory shortages
Hope you like that Rom I've used it my self and its a good one.

I just partitioned my card but it did not affect my free available memory but i now have tons of storage space on my phone.
thank you for the advice though i really like having all the apps on a partition freeing up space in the phone any way ( i use alot of apps )

sounds like you don't quite understand the difference between ROM/storage space and RAM/memory.
A lot of people use memory and storage interchangeably but that is not accurate.
The OP is having a problem with low memory/RAM meaning that the OS and running programs are utilizing too much RAM, IE too many apps or processes are running or there is a memory hole/leak somewhere. He is not having a problem with storage space or room to install additional applications or store additional data.
you can use the V6 supercharger or Car-o-dope tweaks (i think thats what it is called) they will increase your RAM
If you get the RC4 release of the V6 (its still stable but not on the main page) you should do option 7 and 20. Be sure to nandroid before.

Thanks...don't some ROM's use less memory? I'm running an AOSP ROM and it seems quicker than the Sense ROMs.

Aosp is faster then sense ALWAYS. And some roms do use more memory then others

Thanks for the heads up on the RC4 release of the V6 I put it in and it did help my memory on this rom . So after partitioning and running the script I just have one strange question.
Does this rom have a built in power battery saver? i am not running any sort of battery saver, I am running a task killer still but only to see free ram since the script does the task killing now. I notice my wifi shuts off when the phone sleeps and that I have sleep mode that enables at about 11pm. Is there a way to kill this since I do most of my computer geek stuff late at night.
I have looked all through my apps and i have nothing installed that i believe could be doing the power conservation stuff
thanks
I have data2sd installed with 200apps....data2sd is very slow n lags alot...I want to use link2sd as its faster but will I b able to hav 200 apps and does link2sd use the internal space even after linking all the files to sd card..
HTC WILDFIRE S
ROM:CM7
1 GB INTERNAL MEMORY
806MHZ OVERCLOCKED
ELECTRIC CYAN THEME
Link2SD does, in fact, continue to use internal space.
Depending on certain criteria (which I don't know), certain apps will continue to throw some portions onto internal memory.
Even if you're as anal as I am about going into Link2SD (after enabling the "auto-move to external thingy") and then MANUALLY grabbing linked apps and pushing them over to SD... you will still cry, swear, and wonder where all your internal space went. ;-)
I'm at about 50-60 installed apps and I'm down to 28MB left internally (only started off with about 57MB though, due to custom ROM limitation (deodexed).
Good luck,
- Anthony

Okay, so i have counted my apps, and i have 177 apps on the phone, and some of them are really huge, and it just works fine.. i am using a data2sd by jikantaru ... i guess your sd card is slow, or you use the bad data2sd script ?
try to class 8 up sdcard~
Class 6 will also do.
Dear god, what are you people doing with 150+ apps ?
