Which roms did you try to flash?
The 3.5 and 3.0 ROMs like Runnnymede
On which hboot are you? Downloaded right version? Partitioned SD card correctly?

You probable should have done some reading before flashing. But there are many good cdma roms. I personally recommend Oxygen. Head over to oxygen.im, they have their own forum there. A great AOSP rom.

FAT32 is a file format used by most SD-Cards/ portable memory sticks... EXTn is also a format, it us used by linux. Having an EXTn partition on your sd-card allows you to use data2ext, giving you as much memory as big the EXTn partition is... do you even know what you're talking about? lol

Im new to this stuff, but Im just curious has anyone tried a goldcard to downgrade the GB OTA to froyo to get root and then flash the rooted GB rom? From what Im understanding from other place the goldcard will make it so the RUU version doesnt matter? So maybe, that will work? If I had an evo I didnt care if it got stuck on GB I would try it but my evo is for daily use and I dont want to be stuck on GB without root!
if ur phone is already s-off go and try it. you cant get stuck on gb if ur s-off. u can just flash amon_ra pc36img n then flash any rom u want. try it out n let us know. i would try but don't kn ow how to make a goldcard

Unfortunately, I can't complete this (phone came with 2.3.3) as the third step fails, /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/ci does not exist on the device.
edit: some more poking shows that it's mmc2. the path to the cid is /sys/devices/platform/msm_sdcc.2/mmc_host/mmc2/mmc2:b368/cid
edit2: FAILED (remote: 43 main version check fail)
Looks like the goldcard can't bypass this check.
ive tried both cid reading lines and they fail epicly. help??

Well, no, it passes the signature check as I tried a 2.2 RUU. The issue is that it fails the version check, so nothing has been accomplished.
They are doing something similar with the Desire HD, takes more than just a gold card though...

After trying several different ROMs (mainly Sense 1.9 up to 3.5) and 3 different memory cards I am still having reliability problems with my Desire. The main problem is now and again I press the wake button and nothing. The power button doesnt even work I have to take the battery out and reset.
I also get a fair bit of lag, especially with incoming calls, even after having a play with Daemon Controller settings.
I can just about live with it but as I am likely to want to sell the phone soon i was wondering if anyone could recommend the most solid ROM. Preferably one that doesn't use an EXT3/4 partition as it could possibly be running apps from this that's causing the problem. I'm not bothered about Sense either.
I am currently running AceSMod007 v42, Recovery 4EXT v2.2.7 RC6, Stock HBoot.
The easier it is to install the better and even if its vanilla android I'm not bothered. I just don't want any comebacks when I sell it as the phone has caused me enough headaches.
ps Is a new battery likely to help or is that clutching at straws?
Put it back to stock like it used to be. That will eliminate or at least lessen the possibility of buyer comebacks caused by buggy custom roms. If the buyer wants it rooted, he/she should do it themselves.
How do you do that exactly?

I haven't done it personally but I believe you can flash it over as long as the phone is on stock hboot which I think it is. If you are s-off, you may need to flash a downgrader from alpharev. (Can anyone confirm this is required for stock hboot? I had the impression it's only for cm7r2 and oxygen hboots.)
You'll lose root and s-off (if you s-offed your device before). Make sure you chose the right RUU for your phone.

Only r2 hboots.
I think I might have to give it a try as my phone is very unreliable now as it keeps just switching off and won't reset unless I pull the battery. Happens about once a day.
Do I flash it through recovery as usual?
Also, if you want a solid rom, you can't get much more solid than Cyanogenmod. It's actually more stable than the stock rom for my part. Another option is MIUI, but the iPhone-like interface might be a bother.
Thanks, do you mean CyanogenMod-7 for Desire GSM V7.0.3 rom as the download link was broken when I checked?

Possibly not for another 6-8 weeks so I don't fancy returning to Stock and still having problems and having to mess about getting it S-Off and rooted again.
And to be fair if it wasn't randomly switching itself off I might consider hanging on to it longer as when it works properly its a pretty decent phone, I just cant live with the unreliablility.
So has anyone got a link for the CM Rom?

My HTC Desire "breaks" most times I'm trying to install a Custom ROM.
The only ROM that has worked so far was Sandvold Beta 0.11.
I've also tried: D-Sense 4.0 Alpha 0.4, Cool 3D Runny v7.
Every time I flash those ROMs via Clockwork Mod Touch 5.8.0.2, the installation process finishes without any problems, but when I reboot the phone it hangs at the ROMs boot screen forever (not the HTC screen).
I have a GSM Desire (Bravo) S-OFF, Stock Hboot 6.93.1002, PVT1, Radio 5.11.05.27
I hope someone can help me as I'd love to have the Desire running ICS and some kind of HTC Sense...
Thanks in advance for any help.

Most Sense roms require ext partition as they store their data there because of the limited internal memory Desire has. No roms that have ext in their requirements will work this way.
Find some guides on how to partition you SD-card.
OK, I have created a 1GiB sd-ext with ClockworkMod and both ROMs install but they still don't want to boot.
I've checked the SD card in a PC and there is a 1GiB ext3 partition at the end of the card.

Okay I've been getting reports of roms not flashing right for the marvelc. So I set out for a solution and found one I believe. One issues with some roms, is that people have been doing it wrong since they got the phone. From Gsm recovery to even gsm roms. They used cmtd a very bad idea ect ect. So now, id like to present my method for fixing all of this. First, soff your hboot, then upgrade and unlock. install custom recovery and wipe all of the partitions. Then reboot to fastboot and flash the recovery posted bellow. Report back with any findings
http://goo.im/devs/simonsimons34/marvelc/cm9/tests/recovery.img
I was just wondering if you could give step by step instructions to flashing the recovery.img. File.
Download it. Rename to recovery.img. Place in the same directory as fastboot and adb.
Put your phone into fastboot (adb reboot bootloader).
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Simonsimons34 I have tried many things but this CWM actually let me flash a rom your great!! thanks so much and this worked for me
Glad to hear it this recovery has all the bugs with flashing and backups fixed so you should be good for the life of the phone
