Hi
I am considering to flash my desire to CM7.. but i need to upgrade my radio.. if it makes my phone crazy.. is it possible to downgrade my radio.. I have found out what radio my phone is currelty running.. besides du i need to run S-off.. in order to make it work
You can always downgrade a radio. If you are on stock hboot (which you are, because you are S-ON and so you could have flashed a different hboot), you can flash radio as zip via recovery.

Hi,
Coming from HTC Hero running VillainROM 1.7 it did not take long before my DHD was rooted. Did Radio S-OFF; wasn't quite ready for the ENG. I thought I'd flash the radio but that did not happen without ENG. So my strategy is to have a backup of the current ROM, do the OTA and then revert to my backup via Clockwork.
I hope my strategy is OK.... but where is the OTA??
Thor
There are some problems with your strategy buddy.
If you flash the ota you will loose the clockworkmod recovery. Since you can't root stock 1.72 then you won't be able to flash it back again either. Since you have radio s-off all is not lost. You can get root back by flashing back to the older 1.32 ruu and re rooting. When you flash that it will revert your radio back to the older one however.
If you want to update your radio and nothing else you don't have a choice but to get engineering hboot s-off.
Ok, found a tool for ENG S-OFF that I can risk
Radio update then and check improvement in stock ROM before going custom.

Hi!
My phone broke and now I want to try to get it fixed with warranty. I'm not sure if warranty still is available if I use root so I want to unroot.
I have read that all I need to do is flash the RUU, but which one? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824357
And what will flashing it do? Will it remove CWM and everything else I was using to root? I remember that I flashed radio 2 times, had S-OFF and E-ON.
And then I will simply run System Update? Because it seems that RUU are firmwares that phones are shipped with.
yea, just flash a RUU.
Make sure you install the original RUU for the type of your DHD (i.e. WWE, Voda,T-Mobile...)
and if your phone is S-OFF, make it S-ON - S-OFF / S-ON GUIDE (guide for S-ON is at the end of the 1st post). Go into bootloader and make sure you have S-ON
--your recovery will be restored to original HTC recovery
Oh, but which RUU I need to flash? I remember I needed to do a downgrade and I think it was 1.72.405.3, not the R2, but I'm not sure.
Well, when you had your phone, was it branded?
if so, you need to find a brand-specific RUU.
If not, then WWE RUU is fine.
i would suggest the 1.32 FW (because S-ON requires temproot from Visionary+), then follow the guide to S-ON
What about radio? I have flashed the leaked gingerbread radio, wouldn't they be able to see that I have flashed a newer radio? Or the RUU flashes radio also?
RUU flashes radio too. But after flashing the RUU have a look into the bootloader, the device might still be S-Off. For S-On you need to root again and Use the easy radio tool to make S-On again. Then use the RUU again.
It still was S-OFF, but used Visionary and Easy Radio Tool to get S-ON. A brand new phone
Thanks!
Does it work the RUU to flash even if I come from an ext4 ROM (ARHD 5.1.9)?
Or do I need to format first by cwm 3.0.2.6 so that it is ext3 again?
No one any advice?
Hi everyone.
I'm going to flash the latest Android Revolution Rom. I've done it before, so i should be fine, but i have some questions :
- I'm a bit confused with ENG S-OFF and Radio S-OFF. How can i know whith certainty if my phone is ENG S-OFF/Radio S-OFF ?
-I'm flashing the radio which is recommended with the Android Revolution Rom. Should i flash the Radio before the rom or after ?
Thanks.
With only radio off, it would say ship-off in your bootloader. This means you still needa eng-off.
With eng off, it would say eng-off but you still needa check radio. Check sys info if your CID has only ones in them rather than HTC something.
If you have both eng-off and massive 1s in CID, your fine

do you need eng s-off to flash a rom? is radio s-off enough?
@kaidjin
Doesn't matter when you flash the radio

Radio s-off is enough for roms. Its also enough to flash radios aswell, though its different method than what's promoted in the dhd section.
Over in the Inspire section we flash them by using pd98img zips and flashing through hboot. I think its easier as I can download a radio on the go and test it out straight from my phone. But to each their own
No Hay de Queso No Mas de Papa
So in my bootloader, it says ENG S-OFF. However, the CID is HTC_203 so i suppose i don't have Radio S-OFF. But isn't it mandatory to flash new Rom/Radio ?
The one-click Radio S-OFF doesn't work with me. I have the "unknown error, probably connection". Should i flash back the stock rom before attempting to radio S-OFF ?

cheers thanks for clearing that up. i'm very new to this and eng s-off has too many warnings attached to it for me to attempt it at the moment
But still, should we flash the radio before flashing the rom or after?

Hi reneftw,
It does not matter. Every ROM runs with most (or all) of the radios. If you already have the recommend radio, there is no need to flash it at all.
I have flashed the recommend radio after my first custom ROM.
I do not have the recommended radio, but my Phone works very good. Is it necessarily to flash the right version of the radio?

Hi Kaidjin,
it is recommend to flash the Radio S-OFF, because it is more permanent. If you flash a locked bootloader (by mistake or by auto update or whatever), you still have the SuperCID from the Radio S-OFF.
Try another USB port, cable and PC. Try newest HTC sync. Do u have USB debugging enabled?
Do you accept the SU Request during the flash of Radio S-OFF? If your screen timeout is too short, maybe you dont see this request.
I recommend to always flash Radio S-OFF and Eng S-OFF (in this order, but it works the other way too).

If your phone works fine, it is not necessary. If you have issues with battery drain, signal strength, GPS or WiFi, try the recommend.
None of the above. Thanx for the help.
General consensus is latest radio does help with battery life and reception. I suppose if your have no issue with them then it's fine. But I am sure everyone loves improved battery life.
And yes it is recommended to have both radio and eng off before you flash radio.

I once was in your positions and yes, I had to recover the 1.32 sense rom to get it work, then recovered again to the existing rom.
But a friend of mine had no problem with CyanogenMod 7.1 RC1, which I was also using, though.
I have the stock HTC Wildfire ROM with Baseband Radio, after many tries of flashing roms (Stock, Custom...etc), the performance of radio some how got effected by dropping calls many times and other GSM and 3G issues.
The question now, can I install the baseband radio without losing S-OFF, Root, ROM or other apps, patches?
If possible, how any walk-through to do for Wildfire with CWM and Cyanogenmod 7.2?
Thanks!
U can flash the radio without loosing root!
If u want to flash the radio. Then the first thing to do is download the latest one. .....20.10 i belief. Put it on the root of your sdcard.
Then you need to boot in recovery 2.5.x by rommanager and execute the radio zip. Wait a few moments and your radio is flashed.
That will flash the radio. There is a risk for flashing the radio!!!!! and u cant solve it by a nandroid.
If it is not the radio, then i dont know what is wrong...

Hey,
I want to flash my desire HD (radio 26.10.04.0) with jelly bean to radio 26.14.04.28
I tried using this tutorial "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=896597" but I have found out that i don't have ENG S-off, but just SHIP S-off, so fastboot doesn't allow me to flash the radio
Is there a way I can flash the radio without ENG S-OFF ? I read about using a goldcard, but that seems kind a hassle and outdated since ACE kit.
Btw what happened to the ACE kit program/thread ?
I used ACE kit back in the days to root and S-Off, but apparently I didn't do this right

If you flash ENG S-OFF and your device was shipped with GB you will messed the bootloader, and then you will have more issues than not being able to flash a radio.
The Hack Kit is not longer supported in XDA, but is still going in attn1's site (http://tau.shadowchild.nl)...you can flash the adjusted ENG HBOOT in the Hack Kit wich supports flashing images.
BTW, you can always flash a radio in the PD98IMG.zip way...there are a lot of threads about how to do it (which the safest way):

Thanks for your help, I flashed the radio using the PD98IMG method trough Hboot and it installed succesfully but I'm experiencing a problem=>
After I rebooted, the HTC start up, the rom is loading, I get the Jelly Time loading screen, but It just keeps loading...
Is there something I can do about it or is this normal ?
BTW I'm able to enter CWM
