The camera lens cover (red ring with plastic piece in it) fell off my Dinc. Has anyone had this problem, if so how did you go about fixing it.

A little super glue perhaps?
Thanks for the quick reply and the link. I ordered a new cover, hopefully superglue will stick it better than the old damaged one.

Mine fell off haven't got around to fixing it. Super glue should do the trick.

Just ordered the case above last friday, the case got here about 15 mins ago. All I can say is that theres a reason its so cheap. The case does not even clip sealed on the top of the phone. The screen protector included (which scratches at the touch of a finger) barely stuck. Lots of bubble near the edges, and yes I consider my self good at screen cover installations. Im sorry to be the barer of bad news.
Hope this helps guys!

I tried the same one from ebay and the top did not snap for me as well. So stay away from this one.
Replacement comes tomorrow...so we'll see...but I think the rubber coating is too thick for the case to click.sigh

I've seen a few pictures of EVO's where people have scratched off some of the black backing on their evos and it was red.
Is it actually red under there or am I getting trolled? What's a good way to scratch off the black?
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h156/Pricelss/IMG00508-20100921-1445.jpg
EDIT: Just grew some balls and did it with a pair of scissors. Looks baller as hell.
Goodbye warranty. I have considered doing this though. Is the finish ****ed up or could you just sand it real quick and get it smooth?
It's nice and smooth already around the sides where I scraped it with one side of my scissors.
Around the corners I had to grind it down with a nail file and it feels a little bumpy. It sands out just fine though.
Overall looks way better than I thought.
Hmm...might have to try this
I used a razor blade and held it upright. Kinda like scraping it. Its not perfectly smooth but it works for me. No pics but it looks just like the OP.

i did this to my evo and then got it warranty replaced last month because i got sick of the light screen blotches and they took it no problem

Voids warranty?
sent from my evo, *****!
I have a coworker that did this on his old one before he got his 3D. Looks killer. He used fine grade sandpaper and came out perfect.
I love mine. I took it apart and carefully wet sanded just the flat edge around the sides. Looks good with black cover, but I think it looks even better with the white one. Notice the matching J-Fold wallet

That's really really nice! Did you tape off where you didn't sand to get such a nice fine line?

So confirm that scratching the paint off won't void warranty? I'm ready to do this..
No. It was pretty easy as long as you don't go crazy. Once you've got that half of the case apart and in your hand, it's a fairly simple to control what your sanding. I used like 320 grit. If you do take your phone apart, cover up the moisture sticker. Actually, carefully removed mine and put somewhere safe. As far as voiding your warranty, obviously, taking it apart will void IF they know. I made a little black round tamper sticker to put back on the screw that had one. And in fact, I did warranty one like that. They never even knew I was in it. If you don't take apart and sand or scrape off the black, it's not gonna void anything. It's cosmetic.

Nice!! There's some brave souls out there. With my luck I'd screw something up. I'll stick with my case.
it WILL void warranty. my friend is a repair tech at the local sprint store. told her about it a few weeks ago and she says it will definitely void warranty. some techs are cool though and wont care.
Just random question, on the white EVOs, what's the material used for the white on the back, I'm pretty sure it's not that rubber-ish stuff used for the black.
Ok i did that to my evo n it looks nice n all but something happen to my evo that idk i guess i dropped it bc its naked and has no protection but the frame of the phone is loose and its bugging me and i was wondering if i 100% voided my warranty from scratching it off and having it red?

I always use a gel case on my galaxy s yet the back cover still has scratches and sort of smudges which don't go away. It's hard to explain. How do I get rid of them? Where can I get a different range of back covers?

If you're using a case and the battery cover now has scratches, I'd probably blame the case. It could be rubbing against the battery cover and scratching it.
You can purchase battery covers on eBay. Just search! They should be fairly cheap. If you find any good ones, post the links.
Same problem here.
I have to clean up silicone case and battery cover everyday to avoid scratches.

It's probably just the material of the case, as I'm sure not everyone with a case on their phone has to worry about and deal with this.
Personally, I don't use a case and have zero scratches on my phone, screen or body.

Same here, maybe the rubber casing is getting debris inside that are eventually scratching the back?

Yep. This is exactly what's happening.
It's not just scratches though. On the pattern bit in the battery theres some sort of staining. It's hard to explain what it is. l suppose it looks like dried glue

anyone use screen protector?
I am using the screen protector and I can say that it is very first thing a man should do to the phone. It is very hard to put one, as the smallest piece of dirt (between the screen and protector) is seen as big bubble ... Order the cheapest ten pack from Ebay because you will destroy couple of them before you install it perfect.. I had those on my sgs for year, and it was scratched as hell..

it is grease, comes from hands. Clean it worth HIGHLY DILUTED alcohol or wet wipe then with microfiber cloth..

I would be nice to have a metal black battery door the S2 does and they look sick
Sent from my GT-I9000T using xda premium
I don't think it's grease because it simply does not come off. And the corners of the screen always attract dust
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I've tried using baby wipes but it didn't come off
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Well if it doesn't come off, what the heck did you put on your phone? Maybe it's a questonably cheap case and some weird plastic/rubber/alien residue from it has stained your phone? Provide pictures maybe?
Sounds strange, especially since you can't clean it off.
It looks like dried up snot lol but it isn't. I can't be the only one who also finds that the screen attracts too much dust especially in the corners and edges

I don't notice dust at all on my device, ever (unless I'm in working in a really dusty place, which happens, but I generally don't have my phone on me when I am). This could be just a geographical difference though.
Fingerprints are another story. Those are annoying. Dust, however, I don't even notice.

The Sgs screen is gorilla glass which is scratch proof so does not need a protector.
It is possible to scratch with the right tool but the pressure needed will go straight threw any protector too.

You were very wrong in this, believe me ! Sharp keys can do wonders... gorilla glass is not so tough, there is a whole thread about it...

Same here
I took the cover off and scrubbed it with a little soap,no effect.
If you look closely, you can see that those places are somewhat 'eroded',like somethings eaten away at it.
Maybe moisture build up?
so i found out that my mom's e4gt's rear housing (so the speaker cover and side cover) was cracked...is there any way to get the parts? i dont have any warranty or anything

I was looking at my phone the other day and noticed the little square glass piece over the camera is cracked. I'm not sure at all how this happened since I have not dropped the phone and it always stays in the otter box case. Has anyone had this happen before? It does not appear to affect the image quality but is there a suitable repair for this, could I use another material other than glass.
I don't know that that's even glass over the camera, pretty sure it's a thin piece of plastic

It is definitely glass for it to crack the way it did.
Well regardless. Just looked over eBay, and around a few repair sites and I couldn't find anything besides replacing the whole back cover which has the camera lens included. And that would be between 45-60 dollars
