Can anyone tell me what the default stock screen density is on desire z? Ice had it changed for so long I can't remember what it is. I need to know due to market incompatibility issues when trying to get apps. Does anyone also know a fix for that at all? Something to stop it checking compatibility?
Default screen density is 240 i fixed the combatility issue by installing the old market... But maybe there is a better fix

where can i get the old market from without having to raid my backup.
any idea if there is a way i can install both versions on my phone?
thats the guide i used:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231358
i´m not sure if it destroys your market backup, but you could use my backup root or something similar...
i have no idea how it would be possible to install both versions...
cheers man
I use LCD Density Changer to drop down to 190. When I want to update apps in the market that are incompatible I use it to temporarily go back upto 240. Clear Data from the market app in Settings and next time you open it the apps should install fine. Then reboot and your resolution will revert back to 190.

I think you only need to clear market data once...
1. reset LCD to 240
2. clear market data and restart market so it stores your new resolution
3. reset LCD to 190 and market should continue to work
I am using the latest version of Market (v3.3.11) and it works great at pixel densities of 190, 191, 200, and 210
(I am using the G-lite 1.07 ROM)

So i've been wanting to install a couple apps lately and either i do not find them in the market or if I go through the web, i see that it is not compatible with my device.
I am running the latest version of MIUI (2.2.3 i think).
I've done some research and it seems that it is because of some values in the build.prop file.
I've changed the lcd_density from 240 to 200 but that did not help.
There is also the ro.build.description and the ro.build.fingerprint, but in this case i have no clue what to put in there.
I am sure i am not the only one.
What should i do?
thank you

Wrong thread post it in the q&a section

First, you shoult probably ask in the right thread - General that is
But, to help just a bit ... Which apps are those you want to install? What is your device (G2 or DZ)? In which country are you located and who is yours cell provider? Some apps are available only in US and not available outside, some are available only for customers of some specific carrier. Were you able to install these apps before you installed this last ROM? If yes, what was the rom you used before?

I had the same problem. In order to view certain apps that weren't available I had to change screen density back to her original 240 reboot, clear market data, sign back into market and then find the "incompatible apps" when the market is started it saves configurations such as density etc. after restarting market with the correct g2 density you can change back to a previous density setting and the market should still give you the apps that were once not available.
That is what fixed it for me, you may be experiencing something different.
Sorry about putting the app in the wrong thread.
I will try to move it to the Q&A forum.
As far as the other questions, i was trying to add the WD 2GO app. I also wanted to try the chrome beta today.
As far as the density, it was 240 all the time. I actually put it to 200 but did not help. I will put it back to 240 and see what happens.
thank you
PS: Forgot to add: I have the G2 from TMO US
You need to put it back to 240 then wipe cache and info from the market, then reboot......you should get everything back

Nope. Been trying everything and it does not work.
LCD_density is back to 240 (it was originally 240 then i moved it to 200)
Cleared cache and even cleared cache of google framework.
This is annoying
Here, that's what you need : LCD density modder pro. There's a one click market fix.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.birdapi.android.dpipro
Clear the market cache, clear market data.
oVeRdOsE solution worked.
Thanks a lot
Hi,
Recently my galaxy nexus has been behaving strangely. For some reason, when I search for certain apps (e.g. Imdb, friendcaster etc etc) they do not appear in my searches.
If I visit via the direct link, it says this application is not compatible with your device
If I reflash my ROM and kernel, the market works fine for a little while..then the above problem reappears
I have also tried clearing market cache and data, but this does not solve the problem
Any ideas?

Most common error: stop changing your density or don't install a rom with changed density.
I used "fix market compatibility" within LCD monitor pro which installed a spoof 320dpi market. I can now find all apps, although I'm slightly worried about the safety of this spoof market

Same thing happened to me the other day. Went to download Titanium Backup in the market after flashing Driven. Couldn't find it. Had to download it from the web. I go today to search for it and it is there in the play store. Strange.

So use the real Play Store and return your density to stock.

But after using the phone at 241dpi I could never go back to 320dpi.. it just looks so bad
Weirdly if I temporarily change dpi to 320 and then use the stock store.. apps still don't appear. Using the spoof store is the only thing that seems to work

... then you just have to deal with it? lol. I don't understand the complaint. You know how to fix the problem, but you refuse to do so, so then you have to deal with the spoof store. There ya go.
I guess I'm just having a misunderstanding and any help is greatly appreciated.
So the stock DPI setting is 240, I dropped mine down to 190 or so give or take, and obviously that causes certain apps to not even appear on the market. Been using other places just to get apk files so they obviously work fine. I was under the impression that just changing back to 240dpi along with clearing market cache and resetting phone would re-allow me to see certain apps that aren't showing. I must be doing it wrong because this definitely isn't working for me lol
I've seen on other phones Market compatibility fixes to trick the market into thinking we have the stock DPI set. Do we have anything for our E4GT's that will achieve this trick.
I thought I wouldn't have a problem with just going back on fourth but showing off the phone and having to spend 2 minutes to go back and change settings just to download an app is kind of a hassle
Thanks again!
Get LCD Density Modder Pro and use it to patch the Store.
I've gone through a bunch of densities to find what I like, eventually settled on 206 as our screen is 206ppi. Quite happy with it.
I had to clear paly store cache/data, google framework cache/data and reboot. Worked for me.

has anyone noticed that with the recent ICS leaks that alot of apps that were compatible with our phone are not now. On 4.0.3 leaks i could still get apps of the market, on the 4.0.4 leaks i can't. Example directv, on market says not compatible, walgreens app says not compatible. They were before, now they not. I have the apps in my dropbox so no biggie, but was just wondering if there is that much difference between 4.0.3 & 4.0.4 that would make apps not compatible anymore.

That is a good observation Isaac.
I'm willing to bet that the apps check the build version that is written into the build.prop file. I'm not having issues but if someone is and knows how to edit their build.prop file maybe change this line back to 4.0.3 to see if it works:
ro.build.version.release=4.0.4
Well, after backing up their rom first of course.
Edit: FYI, do not edit build.prop unless you know what you're doing. The system may not boot if this file is edited incorrectly.

Have you changed your dpi or installed a ROM that does? I am running AOKP latest and have no problem using Play Store Market apps. Perhaps open settings, manage apps, play store, clear cache then reboot?

Forgot about this too, 240dpi is the default setting.
Maybe that's it. My dpi is set to 215

If you change the dpi from 240, that will explain your problem. Change it back, clear Play cache, reboot. Should work fine.

Different devices have different dpi and that is part of what Play Store checks. Example: if I change my dpi to under 190, 128 specially, Google will display tablet apps. So, if your dpi doesn't match the phone that Google detects, it breaks.
In the Tablet mode ui thread, there is a hacked Play Store that automatically reports your dpi as 240 so that it doesn't break.
Yea changing the dpi back fixed it

Try the third or fourth one.
Assuming you modified it via the build.prop, and the above fixes don't work for you, you'll need to restore the resolution back to what it was in the build.prop. Then clear the Google Play Store data and cache, and reboot. It will work for you after you start Google Play Store again.
That is one of the problems I faced on my G2, and I gave up using a different resolution for this very reason.
