Does Galaxy Nexus have MHL? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Can I hook it up to my TV with MHL then use a gaming controller to play a game off it?

It does support MHL to do HDMI out and USB support but I dont think you would be able to do it at the same time.

As you can see it supports MHL,but as said earlier I don't think you can connect a USB controller at the same time. A bluetooth one should not be a problem though.

Gamepad bluetooth + MHL HDMI

Yeah I meant a bluetooth controller while the GNex is hooked up to the TV with MHL. Has anyone tried this yet?

Looking for some help regarding TV-Out functionalities with my Captivate Glide.
What are the available functions on this phone (MHL, TV-Out...)?
And would any of these three be suitable for my phone?

its pretty simple. BUY an MHL cable online, and when you recieve it, connect the micro usb from the cable to your phone. on the other side of the cable/adapter is a female hdmi, where you can plug in your hdmi cable in. The MHL cable may need a power source such as a micro usb (the one you use to charge your phone) so you might need to plug that into the MHL cable. basically it gives your phone hdmi through the usb charge port

Yes I have 1 and it has to be powered via the MicroUSB to the MHL adapter. Sometimes it works great other times I have an issue getting it to display on the HDMI monitor. I bought my MHL adapter from Monoprice.com for about 12$.

Thanks for your help everyone, I'll be purchasing an MHL/USB soon.
Do any of you Captivate Glide owners know if this phone is supported by the sixaxis controller app? (using PS3 controllers on android via Bluetooth)
If not, if any of you have a chance could you test this out?
This is the testing app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...Rpb3Muc2l4YXhpc2NvbXBhdGliaWxpdHljaGVja2VyIl0.

I found out myself, according to the developer PS3 controllers are supported via bluetooth on any phone with bluetooth 2.1 or above running an AOSP-based custom rom.

Use GN2 as portable gaming system? (setup question)

Here is what I know:
I can use a Samsung USB-to-HDMI adapter to display the screen on a TV while charging the phone. You can hook up a PS3 controller to the GN2 with a USB-OTG cable. I also know that you can connect certain devices to the GN2 via USB-OTG cable and a USB hub to charge the GN2 while using the peripheral.
What I would like to do:
I would like to be able to run an emulated two-player game on my GN2 while displaying on an HDMI connected TV, and having two controllers work at the same time for simultaneous two player action (ex. Street Fighter 2 Turbo for SNES). I already have a couple PS3 controllers as well as two generic USB PC gaming controllers that I would like to use.
Basically, is the USB port on the GN2 capable of being used to simultaneously charge the phone, and run the HDMI adapter and two USB controllers? If not, what about just running the HDMI adapter and charging the phone, then run two controllers via Bluetooth? Also, I see there is a smart dock (EDD-S20JWE) that looks to have all of the functionality I'm interested in, can anyone confirm this?
Thanks all.
I have never thought of that! I am also interested though!

I actually just tried this very setup the other day: HDMI out + PS3 controller. In theory it should be awesome... But I found that the HDMI out is super laggy (both in terms of framerate, and a pretty significant delay between what shows on the phone screen vs. the TV screen). I tried it on both a TV, and a PC monitor, and it was the same. I posted about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2098948
It made every game I tried unplayable. I didn't even try a fighting game, but I'd imagine it would be even worse.
It makes the setup pretty unusable in my opinion, which has me pretty bummed out because I was really excited about it.
I'll just stick to GameKlip + PS3 controller for now.

Hdmi Dock

Is there a dock that charges and does hdmi out? Thinking this would be cool to play emulators or GTA on my big screen, paired with a wiimote or ps3 controller
To connect to the a TV you will need an MHL to HDMI adapter like this. I'm not sure if it charges at the same time, but it should, being that it connects via the USB port on the phone. If you search around the web, you'll definitely find much affordable deals. Cheers!

at least, if not charge, it maintains the charge level.
from your link:
The HDTV Smart Adapter supports HD signals up to 1080p. Connects directly to a standard HDMI cable for easy connectivity to home theater or monitor. Requires power from a wall charger. Can connect directly to your MHL-Enabled mobile phone to create an HDMI docking station. Requires wall charger (sold separately) to power the adapter while in use. (HDMI cable not included)”

You cannot connect more than one USB cable to your phone, so unfortunately that is not possible. Which controller exactly do you need to connect to your phone?
If by any chance you are planning to use a PS3 controller, pairing it with your phone through Bluetooth and using the Six Axis Controller app is the best way to go.
Edit: In that way, you will still be able to connect the phone to your TV via the MHL cable
if you hsve a frys electronics in your town, they have this item for $24. WORKS WELL.

[Q] How to use mhl / otg?

I have the official samsung mhl cable an it works it mirrors my screen to the tv but is there a way i can connect a mouse an or keyboard with my OTG cable an use a mouse to control the mirrored image of the phone on the tv?
there is a smart dock for the note 2, which has HDMI and USB ports:
http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/31/samsung-galaxy-note-ii-smart-dock-turns-a-big-phone-into-a-desktop/
And if a dock is not good for you, you can always buy a bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo

Xbox 360 wireless controller and hooking up to the TV

I am new to the tablet theme and have a new Samsung tab s. It plays android games really well. is it possible for me to use it as a console and hook it up to my TV and use a xbox 360 wireless controller on it to play android games? I don't see why it would be any different in the nvidia shield
It is and it is not different from the Nvidia Shield tablet.
One of the biggest differences is that the Shield has a HDMI . There are also tegra only games that will not work on any other processor without root and some work. The last difference is that nvidia made a console mode for the shield to make navigation and use easier using only a bluetooth controller.
With that said of you have a controller only game/emulator you like and either a micro usb dock with video out or a micro usb to video cable, then yes you can use your galaxy tab s as a console.
Basically the answer is yes it is possible but no it is not the same as a device/os designed to do it.
Hmm...after doing some investigation.... how would I plug in both a usb xbox 360 wireless adapter and a hdmi adpator to plug into the TV? Or is it only one or the other(tv versus controller)?
Personally I would recommend getting a bluetooth controller. There may be a way to use a usb based controller and video out at the same time but I do not know it if it exists.
You will also need one of these. A mhl - hdmi connector.
