I used to have an app on an iPhone that allowed you to just TAP anywhere on the lock screen to unlock rather than having to slide the slider bar.
Looking for something similar for this device. I want to be able to tap ANYWHERE on the lockscreen to unlock it.
Widgetlocker allows a "TAP" on a single very small spot on the lockscreen but not "anywhere" to unlock. Close, but doesn't quite get the prize.
Also, is there a way to have the lockscreen stay on longer then it does?
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Try "tap tap app". It uses your proximity sensors, you can just swipe your fingers over the sensors. It's not the same as using the lockscreen but similar

Thanks but that doesn't unlock the screen it just wakes it up. you still have to slide the slider to unlock.

I know CM ROM has that feature build in, but it's not yet available for our phones, but DEV has started on CM so it'll just be a matter of time

Ok, On the slide to unlock there is this annoying vibrate...... Anybody know how to turn this off or how to edit the system to delete it..... its super annoying!!!
Goto security in settings and untick vibrate on touch.

Vibrate on touch is under the sound menu and has no effect on the "slide" lockscreen.
I quite like it

I don't mind the vibe.... but it's like 2 one when you touch it and one when it unlocks..... I dunno just a bit odd
If you go where I said it will solve your problem.

Nope, vibrate on touch is not in the security option. It is in sound option and it has nothing to do with unlock vibe so I dont know whether you serious or just trolling.
The confusion is with Slide versus Pattern unlock.
With Pattern there IS a Vibrate On Touch option in Security, but it only effects the pattern, not the slider.
(WidgetLocker does have an option to disable Haptic Feedback for the sliders).

My point is that @rbiter is thinking about the pattern, I was pointing out that slider and pattern are different...
Is there an option on developer settings? Think I MIGHT have seen it when playing with the rom.

If there was, i would have found long ago because ive looked all over to disable that dumb vibrate on slide unlock LOL. There is a setting in dev options to show visual feedback for touches but not vibrate. That option is even more annoying haha.
Just got my new Nexus today
But sometimes I cannot pull down the notification bar when in lockscreen
I have to restart the phone to be able to pull down the notification bar again
Anyone has similar experience?
Any fix?
I didn't think it was possible on the lockscreen to begin with
Sent by me, for me and i love you
Yes its possible in ICS.
Mine is working fine. So far. Do you have any widget on notification such as widgetsoid perhaps? But it should working though

Didn't know this was even possible.
I do have Widgetsoid yes, does that stop it working? Because I am unable to pull down the notif' bar when locked.
Well you could try to remove it see if that works. If yes then probably just minor bug on widgetsoid. I know some of the widgets are still not working on ICS

I too, was unaware of this option. Works fine on my GN LTE.
I believe if you have one of the more secure unlock methods active (PIN, face, pattern) it won't work. Believe it needs to be on slide to work.

Yep, only works on slide.
Thanks.
It's working now.
So weird...
Can anyone access settings through the notification bar when locked?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Only when you have no pin or pattern to unlock. So its not any less secure...
Anyone know of a good replacement for the lock screen on the GN? Say one which lets you launch messaging, phone etc from the actual lock screen?
It happens when I lock it from twitter. Maybe other apps as well, unchecked though. Here is a pick of the reproducible problem

The option dots. They hold no function when pressed

it's a bug in ICS that displays the menu buttons when on the lockscreen. it's not suppose to happen. most likely they'll fix it in an update eventually.
If u use ADW EX home launcher that 3 dot menu on lockscreen unlocks the phone by just pressing on it.

If I don't go back to home screen before I lock. I have the 3 buttons displayed. These seem to override the slide to unlock. This is not really an issue tho I suppose as slide to unlock isn't secure anyway

I assumed it was a feature. It only pops up on slide to unlock setting and I always use that instead of sliding when I have apps open.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
But isn't slide to unlock supposed to be a more secure lock over a none lock to prevent accidental phone unlock in your pocket? That's the whole point of "sliding" to unlock, not "pressing".
If that really is a feature they should give us an option to disable it. But I still think its a bug.
How often is something in your pocket going to find those three little dots and hit that specific part of your phone to unlock it..?
Better yet.. how often is your phone screen even on when in your pocket?
This always happens when locking when you are in an app
Or in browser....sort off shortcut feature tap it and you are right back in the app that is open at the moment

I think u missed my point.
It defeats the purpose of "sliding".
Why not just have ONE unlock button instead of sliding and 3dots?, since both have the same function.
Isn't Android about choices? Couldn't I chose to tap the 3 dots vs sliding all the time?

Well, then I want my choice to disable that "feature".
this is a bug, even google has admitted it's a bug. why do you find it so hard to believe that?

That's what I said, I hope ppl joke when they say it's a feature. Otherwise its sad to see "unwise" individuals on XDA (no offense to anybody).
I know this bug might not bother many, but I really want stock Android to be more polished and not half baked.
I hope OTA update is coming soon with fixes for all these little/big bugs.

Why do you care so much? It doesn't matter if people think it is a bug or not if it is a bug it will get fixed. It doesn't make a difference if someone thinks it is a bug or not because either way it will be fixed if it is.

So I am running ICS on my AT&T Ion and noticed that when the screen is locked, the notification bar will still pull down from the top and allow you to access settings or any notifications. It seems to defeat the purpose of having the screen locked. I don't remember if this was the case with the stock firmware. Can anyone confirm?
You are correct. Gingerbread (2.3.7) on this phone does not allow pull-down notifications from the lock screen.

For that very reason, I use unlock pattern. Another option is to use a different locker. Holo locker does not allow access to status bar.

The idea is that if you can quickly check an email/text without having to unlock each time. I guess some ppl found unlocking an annoyance, but at least you can disable/enable it

That is one of the features of ICS. All ICS roms and phones let you do that. Gingerbread never had that feature. So it's not just this ICS rom.:good:
And either way, it isn't a security risk either. If you have a passcode or pattern enabled, it has to be entered for the Notification shortcut feature to work.:highfive:
Is there a way to change lock screen styles based on location? (Maybe through something like Tasker?)
My 1 year old daughter has learned how to unlock my phone with the swipe lock screen, so I have changed it to facial recognition, which has adequately secured it from her.
However, when I'm not at home, I would prefer the ease of the swipe unlock.
Is this possible?

I couldn't find definitely that it will allow you to change unlock method based on location (everything else is listed and it's hinted at several places) but you might give SmartShift Lockscreen a try. You can find it here on Google Play.

Thanks for checking. That appears to be a lock screen replacement.
Ideally, I'd like to use the stock lock screen and just update the settings.

Couldn't figure out the facial recognition. However, I figured out how to toggle between requiring a pin and not, which should suffice for keeping my phone protected from a toddler accessing it.
