[Q] LegendaryROM, Recovered Apps not showing - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

((MOVED TO ITS OWN THREAD))
Hey, Guys:
Okay, first...
Samsung Epic
Legendary ROM EI22 4.01 (rooted, obviously)
Market 3.3.11
MyBackupPro 3.0.1
I backed up with the latest MyBackupPro prior to upgrading to the LegendaryROM (on 21 Nov, so it's been more than long-enough for everything to update.)
When I Restored, my apps all loaded, but only about half of the Paid Apps show on the Market as Installed...the rest show as mine, but Not Installed; and *none* of my Free apps show on my Market list at all.
If I go *to* an App in the Market (that I already have), they all show as Installed already...but there is no option (or button) to Uninstall them.
Now, comes the fun part:
Yes, I know the normal way to fix this problem is to delete the Cache and/or Data for Market and Google Services Framework; and allow the Market to repopulate the info.
However, there is *NO* Cache or Data for Market, *or* for Google Services Framework. I've checked with three different utilities...they all say 0.00Bytes; and the CLEAR buttons are greyed out in the Manage Applications section.
Force Stop does not good, either.
In addition, I have installed two other (new) Apps from the Market & rebooted...and nothing has changed.
*PLEASE* don't tell me the only way to fix this is to rip out sixty apps Manually (with Root Explorer, or ES), and re-install them from the Market. (I already wrote RerWare (the MBUPro folks)...and that was their only suggestion.)

This may sound stupid, but have you tried *updating a paid app* through the market? Look at Titanium Backup's website, the author has a lot of information regarding similar situations to yours. Good luck!

There is no option to Update *or* Uninstall...only "Open" from the Market.
Are you suggesting Manually uninstalling an App...and then re-installing?...suppose I can try that...
*EDIT*
Tried that....and *that* app now shows as Installed...but no changes otherwise.

Have you tried restoring Market data from MyBackup? Or is system data not backed up? I use Titanium Backup. It backs up all system data and you can clear data with it on system apps that are "greyed" out in settings. I just restore my market data with that and it is all there.

Restoring Market is not an option in MyBackup...but there *was* a ClearCache option there...that apparently worked, even though the main Applications one didn't! All batter....thanks for the thoughts, everyone!

Titanium backup has an option to break or restore market links when you long click on an app. You can tell if each app has a working market link by the icon on the far right. A yellow smiley means no link, a yellow smiley with a blue "M" on top means it has a link to the market.

[Q] Apps showing up in Market as installing even though they aren't

When I look in the the "Downloads" section of the Market app, it shows 3 apps constantly installing even though they aren't and they are not on the top of the list. They are Titanium Backup, AutoKiller, and XDA Developers. I can use these apps without issue. When I try long pressing any of these items, only an the option "Details" pop up and going to the page is also useless. I tried uninstalling Titanium Backup to see if it would get rid of it but it doesn't and now I cannot reinstall Titanium Backup since I cannot cancel the false installation! Shutting off the phone and reflashing my Rom does not help. If I need to wipe may I have the Titanium apk so I can adb install it to my phone?
Edit: Never mind I fixed it.

Notice to people using Titanium Backup to restore

Please stop using Titanium Backup to restore system files when you upgrade you ROM! Some system apps and settings are incompatible when newer ROMS. When I do backups I backup my user apps to one folder and system apps in another. This way I can just restore my user apps and their data in a batch restore but with the system files I only restore data to apps with the same version.
I make this thread because n00bs keep restoring everything including their incompatible system files and start to whine about the ROM being slow, apps FCing, and other assorted mishaps. I've already helped 2 n00b friends who had phones stuck in bootloop after doing full restore.
Which program would you suggest?
This is an interesting argument
I use Titanium Backup, I just don't restore system app data to incompatible apps.
I backup using apps + system data option.
In this case, system data refers to data that are related ONLY to apps right?
When I upgrade to gingerbread, you think it will cause problem??
Or, Should I only back up apps?

When you backup user apps (the ones in white), you will backup the app + its settings and data.
When you backup system data (the ones in green), you are backing up only system settings, like SMS/MMS, Accounts, Calendar, Timezone, Phone logs, Wifi APN, etc.
When you backup system apps (the ones in red), you are backing up ONLY the settings and data for that app, not the app itself. THIS is what Intratech it asking you to NOT backup.
Why? Because the next ROM you install, will most likely have a different system app version than the one you previously had.
Usually:
Different apps == Different settings === problems

So restoring the green ones should work fine? Especially the Application Widgets is important for me as it is much work to restore.
How to restore the red ones? Market + Samsung Apps?
If I do minor updates 2.2->2.2.1 is there the same recommendation to only restore user apps/data?
Thanks.
Why would you want to backup market and samsung apps?
I restore things like my APNs, contacts and SMS from system data using Titanium backup. Across a range of ROMs I've never had any issues, although I'm not restoring every bit of system data- just a select few.

It is faster to restore app's data than waiting for market to come up with updates and configure all manually.
Does system backup do a backup of new versions of system apps?

the market automatically downloads apps when you open it. personally, i do not back up my apps but instead use my internet connection to access the market and sownload all the apps back at one go. Q: Is the same service(auto download downloaded apps) on samsung apps?

I do backup system data however I'm careful when restoring stuff. I check app version number and if they are different then I don't restore any app data for that.
The market doesn't automatically restore your user apps, that's why I restore those.
The market does auto download those apps that you have downloaded before but are not on your phone.
hello,
I know it's off topic, but can i just ask you a simple question?
when restoring with TB, does screen has to be on all the time?
because for me, when screen goes off, whole process stops and when I turn it back on, it resumes..
Is there an option available in TB where you can set to have screen off while restoring?
cheers

Sure - in Settings or Options you can specify exactly this issue "WakeLocks Mode".
Kind regards,

There's a bug with SGS and WakeLocks commands that TB never sorted and never supported or even gave feedback.
ScreenOn: will hang your screen On unless you reset phone
Keep CPU: screen bug is solved, but scheduled backups won't start in standby. They'll start later when you turn screen on. When screen is off, the will keep running (preferred setting for me)
Disbled: you'll have Keep CPU bug added with the pause of jobs when screen auto Off, as you expierience
To be on topic again, restoring green data is safe. Especially SMS, MMS, calendar and contacts data
For myself i duplicate apps folder on phone in case backup fails .
Root Explorer and copy APP file to sd card and or PC .
Backup fails then it just requires each app installing from the sd card .

I don't think something so painfully obvious needed a thread.

I disagree because many guys get confused as to what system apps mean. I had this problem after I restored system apps a long time ago. Since then I don't backup my system apps at all but chose individual system apps like Maps, Gmail etc. to back up.

Market "My Apps" not showing correctly

I noticed today that "My Apps" in the market is only displaying 4 of my Apps with are PAID FOR apps, none of the free ones are showing. I ran a few updates to some random programs 3-4 days ago, otherwise nothing has change at all. Some update must have corrupted market data or something.
Anyway, I cleared all market data, rebooted phone. Opened market, it asked me to accept terms, etc. then I went to "My Apps" and its still b0rked. Any suggestions other than clearing cache and data from Google Services Framework and Market? That is all I can think of so far. It seems this has worked for some, but not me.
UPDATE
Sorry gang, this method worked after all. It just took 4-5 minutes for all of the apps to show back up. It initially only showed the ones it had licenses in the registry for. After Market was open a bit, it started showing all of my installed free apps too. MODs feel free to delete the post. :/
Go to recovery (amon ra) and find "other" then you'll see "fix uid mismatches" or download titanium backup and hit menu ,then select market doctor and it should repair the links. If one doesn't work try the other. After you do one of the fixes download a random app and it should fix it.
This happens to me alot when restoring nandroids or playing with apps2sd.

I have Titanium Backup Pro but had not run market doctor before. When I ran it it didnt find any saved market links so it couldnt do anything. I'll get that setup now so it doesnt happen again but the above mentioned fix seems to work fine as well.

The fix in recovery will link all your apps back. I always works for me when the titanium doesn't work. I don't know if clockwork has "fix uid mismatch" but you'll find it in amon ra lol. Good luck

[Q] Problem with "My Apps" in Market

Hi,
my prob has started a few days ago..
After an App update my device has always done a reboot but only the fast boot from where the boot logo starts.
After device restarting the update hasnt installed and the App is no longer to find in "my apps". (49 out of about ~70 Apps )
Ok. ROM Manager and fix permissions .. (49Apps available ..)
Titanium Backup Market Doctor and fixed all Market Links .. (NONE app available! see screenshot)
Done a Nand-Backup but the same screen without any app nothing changed ..
Flashed a ROM update.. none apps
Settings -> Apps -> Market -> Delete Data.. none app..
reinstalled vendor.apk.. nothing changed
when i hit www.market.android.com in my Browser i can see all my downloaded apps but not in the Market?!
Now I'm perplexed.. probably anyone else got an idea?
I hope that I do not need to do a full wipe
Im on
CM7.2 RC0 from here http://fitsnugly.euroskank.com/gigglebread/bravo/
s-off
Although it's against your hope, I recommend to do a FULL WIPE, reflash rom and restore apps. But backup all apps with Titanium Backup before (and maybe WiFi Access Points).
Have you tried installing some random app from the market? Simple install always solved missing apps issue for me.
SwiftKeyed from my HTC Desire using XDA App.
same **** after wipe and restoring apps...
dont know what to do..
@erklat yes i have tried it.
Try using old market (2.3.6):
http://bit.ly/nQtuzp (Copied link from Meaple's sig)
After downloading, rename your current version to e.g. vending1.apk, move the download market to /system/app, rename it to vending.apk and set right permissions:
Check "read" for User, Group and Other, check "write" only for user and let execute completely unchecked. Now reboot and see what happens.

How to prevent automatic Google Play Store apps Download with new Rom

Hi,
how can i prevent, that Google Play Downloads all my 200 Apps in my clean new Rom installation...
i have all the time speed issues,
and now i wanna tray, only install needed apps...
but every time i install clean rom,
add my google account, and go into Playstore, the Download starts...
You should have put this under Q&A
after setup google account, I turn off wifi, data to prevent auto download applications form play store and using titanium backup to restore my applications
but this is no Solution...
i also use Titanium Backup,
if i restore 15 apps...
and than i visit the first time Google Play Store,
the other 185 apps starts to downoad...
is there a setting, in Titanium Backup, to prevent Playstore to start the downloads...
Maybe change any ID, that google Play store means, i have an new Mobile
Just deselect the "Restore" option in the "Backup and Restore" page of the Welcome Wizard.
I think that deselecting the Restore won't get you anywhere...
What I've found is that the phone automatically downloads different apps for the sense ROMs and different for non-sense. Since sense has different storage locations than other ROMs I'm sure that data telling the playstore what to download is on the phone and I it should be on the SD card since it's still there after a full wipe. Now all we have to do is find the directory where that data is stored and delete it before we flash a new ROM.
A ROM dev would surely know where this directory is, but I'll try to find it...
If someone knows, do tell us
Play Store downloads the same apps for any ROM, sense or not. There's no difference. And the downloaded apps are stored in the same directory in all Android ROMs which is /data/app. Just not selecting the 'restore from this Google account' option during initial should be enough. Even if Play Store setup starts downloading apps, force stop it and then put back all your apps using Titanium Backup or something like that.

Also there is a option in Titanium backup to detach user & system apps from the Market. I think that after you force stop the market you should do this and solve your problem
Usually when that happens to me, I go to the My Apps page in the market and just press the Stop All button.

The stop button doesn't like to show while downloading 100+ apps
