[Q] CM7 will NOT send files over bluetooth! - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is really starting to do my head in now, no matter what I do, in CM7 or any AOSP ROM, I cannot send files over bluetooth but can recieve. I have tried flashing the newest radio several time. Why?

How are you trying to send? What kind of files, apks maybe? Do you have bluetooth option to select while sending?
I personally am able to send file through ES file explore.

Precisely, the stock filemanager doesn't do Bluetooth file transfers.

Q. Setting what an app is allowed to hook into (more info inside)

I downloaded ES File Explorer, and now when I want to send an MMS and go to add an attachment, my phone asks me if I want to add it via File Explorer or Gallery. I will never send an MMS using File Explorer. How do I make it so File Explorer can't hook into that? I always want to open Gallery when I want to send an MMS.

I know for most times that happens, there is a check box at the bottom for "use this by default" so if it has that, check it. If it doesn't, you'll just have to deal with it.

When it prompts, check the checkbox before selecting Gallery. This will make it always use the Gallery.

No checkbox is available to check unfortunately.

[Q] Simple, silly, noob question.

Okay, after all this time I forgot about the cool little notification sound that the EVO comes with. CM7 doesn't have it so I would like to know where I can get it or just what file to take it from on a Sense Rom, thanks my friends.
You can download a sense rom, extract the apk/sound file, then place it in CM7; or if you have a sense rom, flash to it, use root explorer / es file explorer, then locate, copy it to the sd card, then paste it in the correct location.
Look in> /system/media then look in audio, notifications, or ui
I think jacoballen22 is asking if anyone knows the location of the sound file or perhaps even the file name. I could be wrong though....

Yes, this is what I am asking and hopefully I can find it cause I'm getting bored of Numb (Piano version) as a notification ringer.

Even after transferring everything to the right spot, it isn't an .ogg file and even when I change the extension it still will not show up.

And using a root file explorer corrupts it? Because the simple copy and past should work; as its not tied into sense as its only an mp3 file.

I see, the part that I do not understand is why are all the CM7 ringers and such .ogg files? and it will not recognize the notification maybe unless I used a trimmer.
I use mp3s for notifications on MIUI, even though MIUI uses ogg files. But MIUI has a different way of choosing ringtones & notifications, which makes it easier.
Where exactly are you moving the file? And are you rebooting afterwards? If the media scanner doesn't run then it may not notice the file.
Edit:
You can also use Zedge to set your notification tones. You may have to move it to sdcard/zedge/notifications to be able to choose it from the app. I'm sure that there are other apps that allow you to choose custom mp3s for notifications.

Thanks for the info cause I just checked and it's in there now. Just needed a reboot lol. Noob life. Well sorta.

[Q] Can't send files via bluetooth using Sabsa Prime v6

I'm using Sabsa Prime 6.0 and I installed the ES Explorer and OI Explorer. With both file explorers I can't send files with the send option in the context menu via bluetooth. If I click on a file and press send or transfer it looks like that I can only send the file with my mail client. The is no option for bluetooth visible.
Have anybody the same problem and can this verify?
I'm on v6.5 as of now but I don't think there was such problem in v6.0 when I had it. In anycase, v6.5 is out. You can flash it over v6.0 and see if it solves the problem.
Just to be sure.. You're saying the "Share as.." menu you get when you select "Share" in the long press menu doesn't show Bluetooth as an option?

Yes, this is what I mean. Now I know the right name in english because I'm using the german language for rom.
I flashed to Sabsa Prime v6.5. I think there is another problem what I don't understand. If I try to send another file e.g. extension *.log, then I can see the bluetooth option after select the share option. I dont' see the bluetooth option if I try to send a *.apk file. Can me help anybody to understand this situation?
Hmm.. Strange. As far as I know there is no such limitation on not being able to send apk files. I'm able to see the bluetooth option for apk files. Could have been a temporary glitch? Is it still persisting? Still not showing the bluetooth option for apk files after flashing v6.5?
Ermm haven't try send by Bluetooth later will try n share btw I'm also using sabsaprime v6

[Q] Trouble with hacked 4g hotspot opening certain web pages

So here is my problem.
When using my hotspot on my Win8 computer, it wont let me click through certain webpages like cashback websites like bigcrumbs and ebates and gets stuck on the redirection pages like "anrdoezrs.net" when tranfering me to a specific website. It won't fuly transfer me through to the store I want to gain cashback at.
I recently got the new computer with Win8 on it. Now that I have have tried my hotspot on multiple Win8 computers with it not working, I'm assuming it must be the problem. It ran perfectly with Win7 beforehand.
I am currently running [ROM]Phantom's Blazer Rom[Yo][8/2/12][v0.1.5][FF18]
I did notice on the tethering options of my phone that it did not list that it supported Win8. (Yet it does work for mostly all of the websites except the ones I'm speaking of).
Is there a way to fix my problem with the Rom version I'm running right now? (I know its a little outdated).
Do I need to update to a newer version of the Blazer rom? Or should I get a different rom?
(I need to have a rom that has the 4g hacked hotspot and it need to be able to be used with my PS3 for online gaming as well).
Thanks for listening
Do you have adblockers on your phone? This may be the problem.

Blazer rom has it built in. Delete system/etc/hosts file (filename is hosts) with a root browser. If you need it back, I posted an updated one here:

Root explorer is my personal choice as well as many others.
What TD meant, a root browser that will properly read the root directory. Some file browsers fail at that.

Root Explorer on the market is $3.99. Anything free available? Right below it there is a "ES File Explorer File Manager" which is free. Will that work?

Can't figure out where to go still.
I downloaded Rom Toolbox Light.
Then went to system, then to etc, THEN I get the option between "HOSTS" and the one under it is also "hosts".
They both have similar files in them, "text file, image file, music file, video file, zip file, APK file, script file"
Where do I go from her now? And what do I do?
Bump!!!

Bump some moar? Read some moar?
Seriously though, it's a text file. Just delete it or delete its contents.
Also, I believe using your phone as a hotspot without paying for it is violating your TOS. It's a good way to get kicked off the network.

[Tutorial] How to share .apk files from Bluetooth

Hello friends,
As you know our device natively blocks sharing of .apk files as well as .rar files ( That's what I've found till now). I have got a nice way to easily share those files with Bluetooth. All you need is an archiver installed in your mobile.
Share files from PC/Lappy to mobile
--> Select the file(s) you want to share.
--> Add them to archive with .zip extension.
--> Now just send that .zip file to your mobile via Bluetooth.
--> Extract that file and voila, your .apk files is transferred successfully
Share files from mobile to mobile
--> Open any archiver application
--> Select the file(s) you want to share.
--> Now tap on compress. ( By default they will be compressed in .zip extension)
--> Now just send that .zip file to your mobile via Bluetooth.
--> Extract that file and voila, your .apk files is transferred successfully
If you find any other ways, in which are able to receive through Bluetooth directly, please do comment here..
Well atleast for mobile to mobile there are other quick ways of sharing apk, rar or any file via bluetooth... just rename your file from *.apk to *_apk , then send it, then just rename back to *.apk. Or best of all just use OBEX FTP protocol, i do via ES File explorer and its the best way to send apks or any file via Bluetooth, no renaming , no archive/unarchive mess, straight file transfers. The obex ftp should work on a pc too but i havent tested it so cant say it works or not.

Thanks for sharing !
But the thing is won't you be to tired by renaming each apk again and again if you are sending in bulk. Guess it's a boring work..
Use 3rd party application like software data cable or super beam .
