Just flashed to DOOMKernel v8 and the home button is not functioning, tried
clearing the cache and even factory reset, but home button is still not functioning, tried the button test in the recovery mode with response, what else i can do to make it function again? flashing the 4.0.2.A.0.42 FW again? or any other plug-ins or modules to install? many thanks

Found out that the reason is removing the SetupWizard... anyone can provide me the file? Thanks

I might be flashing, and I have a question, will this same thing happen if you only freeze setupwizard and not remove it?

Are you sure it has to do with setup wizard? I've removed that app on both my phones with no issues

Please Help Me

Hi there I am new to the defy. I bought it locked so I unlocked it. Next thing I did was Debrand it by flashing firmware the latest t-mobile flash. I now have moo working Market. Everytime I try to download an app is says download paused. So I though ok let's try a factory reset. Only problem is when I press erase everything it does not work does absoluly nothing.
Forgive me for being stupid I have no idea about flashing rooting.
Thanks
Unchecked Data Saver...from settings ur download from market will work....

still does not work at all. i have tried all that already it keeps saying download paused and the market is still on original not updated
thanks
also des anyone know how i would restore my phone as i hit restore under privacy settings and does nothing thanks
Enter stock recovery. Reboot phone, then hold power button plus vol. Down. Then push vol up and down at the same time. Choose wipe data.then power to select. Then reboot
Sorry, for restore, you either have nandroid or titanium . Instead of booting into stock recovery, go to cwm.

ok how would i do that? i just flashed it. i have no recovory or backup options and when i try to restore it wont let me. is there any way i can flash irt back to original retial settings as i would prefer 2.1 tbh thanks
uncheck the "data saver" option in settings and wait for few seconds..if download doesnt start then open market and the download will start..
i m sure this will work...try this..
hi yes i have already tried this
if i cannot do this i would like to reset to factory settings or downgrade to 2.1 thanks
i had the same problem and that trick worked..well if nothing works then its better to flash ROM again.
or else do one thing..uncheck data saver then open market....then go to downloads..if u have any app updates then do tat..if the download starts, the other paused download will also resume at the same time..OR else try to download anything from the market..
remember do this with data saver unchecked!!
hope it works
i dont know exactly the problem but it could be the baseband problem. or the signal.
i suggest first root ur phone, and after that install this baseband switcher. switch the band to ur country, and try again the market
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052745
try using wifi to download and see if you can do that. if still can't, try to go Application > Market and wipe cache/data. if all else fails, root your phone, and flash the new gapps zip file. you can find it in the CM7 Dev folder

[Q] Unable to unlock tablet

I did a factory reset and then restored my apps and system settings with Titanium backup. Now I cannot get past the lockscreen. I have set up a 4 digit code, but the tablet says it is wrong. I was fine until I did the restore with Titanium.
In HC after 4 wrong entries it gave you the option to reset the password using your gmail address. But in ICS I get no such option. I am stuck. How can I get past this to get back into the tablet? Do I have to do a complete reinstall and if so, how do I do that when I cannot unlock the tablet?

I installed the leaked ICS over HC 3.21. I updated the leaked version 2 times and ended up with the final leak, which appears to be the same as the official release. The bootloader is stock.
I rooted the tablet and backed up with Titanium backup. Everything was working, except it had some stutters when it would not respond for a few seconds.
When I did the factory reset it seemed file. But some apps were not reinstalled by the Google server backup and the WiFi settings were lost. So I restored the missing apps and system settings with Titanium backup. When I restarted the tablet after the restoration, I could not longer use my 4 digit code to unlock the tablet.
I can get into the recovery menu, but I cannot figure out how to choose the "wipe" option.
There is no option after trying the unlock code to enter my email address as there was for HC.
Let me know if you need some other information. Thanks for your help.

ok kool thanks for the info!
well i dont remember the stock recovery very much...but power button should still be select and vol buttons to navigate.
if you cannot wipe from recovery there is a key sequence to wipe data...
1) Place the rotation lock switch in the up position 2) Press and hold the Volume down button, which is located farthest from the rotation lock 3) With the Volume down button held, press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds then release it. Continue holding the Volume down button. 4) Once the tablet vibrates, switch the rotation lock on and off repeatedly while still holding the Volume down button. 5) Release the Volume down button and stop switching the rotation lock once the "Erasing Userdata..." message appears in the upper left corner of the screen 6) Once the factory reset has been completed your tablet will load to the Welcome screen.
if that still doesnt work...do what u did before and flash the update.zip from the sdcard...
just a word of advice...restoring apps is ok...and system data like wifi passwords...bluetooth pairings etc
but once u get into restoring apps WITH data.,bad things can happen. ive seen it myself and no longer restore any data...just apps and bluetooth pairings..
cheers man!

That's disappointing to hear. I thought that was the advantage of using Titanium backup compared to just installing the apps manually from the market. I will restore more selectively.

Well if you're talking about the stock clock then it SHOULD only appear under 'All', also having 0 data isn't bad as I can get that by pressing clear data. Have you tried Disabling and Re-enabling the app? Maybe force stopping might help too.
Thanks Sgtpanda for your reply, it looks like he was messing around in my file manager at the time..... I'm going crazy trying to figure this out. the button on top where your supposed to be able to disable/enable app...it says uninstall updates..but I have no update for the app? It just disappears altogether when I press uninstall updates...until I reboot again it shows the same thing?.......beating my head..

Okay then, open up your file manager and browser to /system/app, scroll down and there should be DeskClockGoogle.apk at 473.90k and DeskClockGoogle.odex ad 90.27K. Are both of those still present on your device?

Yes they are....just tried to install through there and no dice.
Right so when you try to install the app it says 'Application not installed', because if that's the case then I just broke my clock by moving it and when I put it back I got the same problem as you, the solution was to switch the device on and off which sounds really stupid, but have you tried that?

II tried a reboot and It didn't work either, I don't wanna have to factory reset but I just might have to.. Thank for your help
Well that should work, if you've already done it then hope it did, otherwise my last idea would be to extract the app from a stock rom and overwrite your files.

Did you do a hard reset? Maybe the old and the new ROM settings are mixed up.Clear hole Phone and start by the beginning.
Turn Phone off, hold Volume down + back and the Power button toghter, her you in the Reset mode press several times the
power buttun and after you saw that android guy the Phone reboot. Everything is clear, so if neccesary first make backup.
I had this also, everything worked accept the messaging, this was after I had flash a other ROM and even install a app from Play Store
didn't solve the problem.
Problem solved with hard reset
thanks

Can't press Google Play update or install button

HTC One X here had weird pixelating and freezing problems couple of weeks ago so we took it to the repair. They replaced almost everything, including the main board and we got it back just now. Works fine, but there's problems with Google Play. When trying to press update, it presses to the app. If trying to press update (just above the "remove" button) it presses remove instead and asks for the app removal. If trying to install new app and to press install, it doesn't do anything.
Is this because of the new android version they just rolled on to HTC One X or if they repaired it wrong, or replaced screen bits wrong or something? Really clueless here.
The phone is onrooted and on stock ROM, if that helps. Tried clearing data and the typical stuff, reboot, no luck. Before trying root and another ROM just asking if someone has similar problem, if not maybe we can take it back to the repair without unrooting work and such...
Did you try factory reset? If you don't want to do that then root, install titanium backup and uninstall the app, reboot then reinstall.

Hi, tried factory reset, didn't change a thing. Can't press update all, open or update buttons, it always chooses the space below it... for example in "My apps" view it selects the first app when trying to click "update all". In the app view, it selects "remove" when trying to click "update"... This issue seems to be only on Google Play, other apps work fine, even when tapping that same spot that is problematic in Google Play.
I don't know if I want to root yet, because if I'm going to send it to repair I have to do lots of work to unroot it (to remain warranty). But if it's the only option so be it. I wish the repair guys didn't mess something up last time. Other thing I'm guessing that the new stock ROM has some issues, but haven't seen reported them anywhere else...
What's the latest version of Google Play and where to get it? can I install new version of Google Play to unrooted system? Thanks in advance!

Gapps download: http://goo.im/gapps/
Make a backup first! Before you do anything made sure you can get back to this point. I think Google play is a part of the system partition so you can't uninstall without root. Bee careful, messing with that stuff can really make your life miserable if you can't troubleshoot!

Thanks! Without root, backupping is not that simple I guess. Ended up using this. Trying the latest gapps for 4.2.2 right now.
I have the same problem, the Install/update button can not be pressed.
Have no effect.
Miui v5 4.2.28. SGS2 I9100.
