PRL Changer / Manager App - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Does such a beast exist?
Looking for an app that would allow me to quickly change PRL's rather than going through the long manual method using computer.
Don't HTC phones have this option?....is it something that can be tweaked or ported to work on other phones?
I'd be willing to donate to the cause if one doesn't exist and one of the smart cookies on here feel like tackling it

when i had my evo, i could flash prl zips... im with you. it would be amazing if we could do the same on our et4gs!!

Exactly..
I am wondering the same thing...
Is there a way to use EPST.apk with your MIN and just flash your PRL of choice from the SD like on the HTC devices?

Good question i would like to know as well

Would this question be better proposed in the general android section than just confined to E4GT?
Sent from my SGSIIE4GTuvwxyz....should I touch my nose or walk a straight line now?

I thought epst required sense. I agree changing prls is a drag but how often do you do it? I do it maybe once or twice a year. For those few of times it's not a big deal to just use cdmaws. Both cdmaws 2.7 and qpst are both readily available and can easily change your prl.

Change evdo/cdma buffersize?

So one of the best changes ever found for my palm pre was changing the buffer size from 7 to 20. Yet when using the ##3282# (##data#) hash code on my EVO; I can't find aplace to modify the buffer size. Is this not possible on an Android device? Yes I have the msl code.

no one knows?
Hehe... sorry if it sounds bad... but I highly doubt any of us ever even looked a palm pre... but apparently it has a nice feature
< deleted >
Its a standard component of the evdo signal controls. Can be done on MANY CDMA phones including verizon ones.
Complain about the pre as you like, but i could get 2.7 mbps downlink speeds whereas right now with the evo im struggling to get 1. Blows. The pre overclocked to 800 mhz also was a bit faster, not to mention MUCH better battery life.
I never had a pre, but I found this in a pre forum. I have been looking myself. This would be HUGE if its found to work.

Edit: Did my link get deleted? Reposting in the event that I just forgot it the first time.
Good to see you again itmusybejj, I was researching this tonight myself and wondered if we can change the buffer size on the Evo. Anyone had any luck finding this out yet??
Edit: Has anyone been able to get the ##3836# (evdo) hash code to work on the Evo?? It does nothing for me.
It was working for me last night. Just don't have my msl to enter into the password field. Ill find some screencaps.

When I entered the ##data# code, it loaded a menu/program called EPST with 2 options: view mode & edit mode. Edit mode asks for a password; view mode let's you look through all the settings. And there are some interesting ones... EVDO, WiMAX, and a couple others that bring up all kinds of settings.
Yes, under ##data# most of the settings are the same under the pre, but there is nowhere to change buffer size. in the pre it was under multimedia (which isnt on here).
I looked through every EPST menu I know of, but nothing to adjust buffer size.
Here are the ones I looked through (except otksl, because I don't have that):

[Q] How do I eliminate sprint and HTC sense?

All,
I am interested in eliminating HTC sense and some of the Sprint bloatware from my HTC EVO 4G. Can someone please explain how to do this? Do I need to ROOT my phone, install a new ROM or BOTH? If a new ROM is required, which ROM would you recommend?
Also, in case I run into any issues, I would like to be able to restore the stock HTC EVO software (OS). Is that possible? From my understanding, this would be possible. Is that correct?
Any assistance you can offer is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Zach
Easiest way is to use launcher pro. Or any other home replacement. Other than that you will have to root and flash a senseless rom.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Root the phone via Unrevoked. Make a Nandroid backup using your new Recovery menu, and then flash CyanogenMod 6.1 (a stock Android ROM with some added features, but no bloatware or Sense). FYI ROMs without any third-party interface are called AOSP (Android Open Source Project) ROMs. If you don't feel like rooting and you just want to get rid of the Sense interface on the homescreen, install LauncherPro.
I moved this Thread to the correct location. Apologies for placing it in the wrong topic area.
you have to realize sprint is a nation wide company and have many buildings. I'd start north east and work my way west. bring lots of ammo

He wants to eliminate sprint and sense for him. That is extreme.
I say switch to a g1 on t-mobile, that will solve the issues.

Some funny sh*& man!
I am definitely interested in rooting my phone and installing a custom ROM. I despise sense and it goes very deep into the software of the phone.
Just looking for the best directions to follow, as I am new to the rooting world!
Any direction is most appreciated. I have been reading and through reading, growing more and more confused!
Thanks,
Zach
To remove bloatware you definitely have to root. Use unrevoked as others have mentioned. Launcher pro gives you a different home launcher, but sense is still on the phone. If you want a completely sense/sprint free experience, the Cyanogenmod is what you need. Just keep in mind 4g doesn't work on it yet. Once rooted, install ROM manager and back up your current ROM before going custom.
You can always purchase Sprint then rape it till they go bankrupt. Then with all the money you made, you can buy HTC and do the same. Heck, you can even do that to Verizon as well while you are at it.

Don't use a "Sense-less" ROM. Most of them don't support 4G/HDMI (like Cyanogen for example). I'd suggest rooting, flashing a Sense ROM (I use Fresh 3.4.0.1), and remove HTC Sense and other Sprint bloat ware via adb. I use the MoDaCo 2.3 launcher and completely removed HTC Sense.
In all seriousness to remove the Sprint stuff, you have to root. You cannot fully remove Sense otherwise you lose 4G, and HDMI (IIRC). Now you can strip alot of the Sense UI stuff out. There are two removal scripts on XDA that you can flash that do just that. Again you have to be rooted. I took the script from OmegaSunS which I tweaked to my liking, and flash that when I flash a ROM. The Sense UI is almost gone, and a good amount of the bloatware is gone as well. Otherwise your only other choice is CyanogenMod.
If you're about to root, it has gotten very confusing lately, I see. I rooted in July when it was easy. Now there are several hardware versions of Evo floating around, and a few different versions of hoot. AND a few different versions of unrevoked.
If you're about to root on a newer phone, make sure you know your hardware version (you can find it in settings), and know your hboot version, use VOL down + power button. (Keep finger holding down volume while press and release power) that will put you in bootloader, read and remember the info on top of bootloader screen (hboot version # etc).
Good luck. I'm praying I don't break my Evo, cuz from what I've seen, it's become very complex to root. One of the versions of unrevoked will screw you, I just don't remember which one cuz it's not really my concern , and, I'd suggest use amonRA for your recovery, rather than clockwork (amonra at least tries to backup your Wimax - though there seems to be some recent speculation as to whether it does for everybody).
Not trying to instill fear, just making sure you know there's a lot of different info out there right now to look for. Good luck. it IS definitely worth it

hey man, my suggestion to you is that if you want to keep 4g and hdmi is to install a sense rom (myns rls4 is great!) then install Launcher Pro (best home replacement in my opinion) and then a guy on here by the name of calkulin has a flashable zip to remove sense. boom all problems solved
yeah just download launcher pro from the market for free. And that should help.

[Q] Apps needed.....

Hello everyone. I am new here so I may have missed what I need so please be gentle if I did.
I am running Team D.I.R.T. Dark Light Rom. I am finding some of my GB apps don't work. First is Sprint Zone. Is there a compatible apk or not yet? Second is Life is Crime. Again says is not compatible even from GPlay. Is there a program I can install that will run my apps in compatibility mode or are they just lost apps?
Sprint zone will not work. As far as life is crime I have no idea. So I would assume they are lost.
If u mix Taco Bell hot sauce, with Ramen noodles, it taste just like poverty.
I know that in ROM's like Cyanogenmod and Deck's Reloaded, there is an app called Spare Parts which has a 'Compatibility Mode' option. You could try that. You could also try to fix permissions from the recovery menu.
Then again, if you can't even install the app to begin with, you may just be out of luck.
Sent using my HTC EVO 4G and a magic wand
I can install them because I have the apk. They just don't open. I will try Spare Parts to see if that works. Thanks.
Edit: That didn't work. Sprint Zone installs but Life is Crime didn't this time. Oh well maybe Sprint will get this fixed and I will contact the developers of the game for a replacement apk. Thanks for trying.
Crap like Sprint Zone I why I rooted my EVO and installed a custom ROM.

Flashaholics/themeaholics

Hi, my names Chad and im a flashaholic. It all started when I got my Sprint Galaxy Note II. After rooting and flashing my first rom there was no looking back.
I have found a daily driver and I'm not going to drop any names. Every dev involved with creating these mods and roms for this device are amazing. While performance is important, I like moding, EVERYTHING.
I would like to know what everyone else likes about flashing roms. What is important to you? Maybe some screenshots of mods you've done to your phone?
Here's my keyboard. (=

I actually flash a lot less than I did when I have the Evo 4G. I'm more modded, but I'm mainly just changing files.
I'm running doexidezed stock MC2, Persues Kernel 3.6, with the 4-1 reboot, all mutliwindow mods. Changed the Spen detection sounds to ligh sabler, changed boot anmination to Andy's Pee On Apple, changed boot sound to Lexus ISF start up and engine rev, disable shut off animations, using only one homescreen page (no widgets), use the Trev E Mod WiFi tether beta 3.3 and folder mount.
I'm interested in the cyogenmod when it's out of alpha. I'm waiting for the mutliboot mod to get completed. It's getting closer on the international. BootManager on the Evo4G was the best app for flashaholics. You could have a daily and as many ROMs as your SD card could hold. I usually had three--barebones Sense rom, Cyogenmod (Android 2.3), and Cyogenmod (Android 4). Here and there I would have a forth or fifth to fiddle with.
The other rom I'm interested in trying out, and it's extremely early, is more of port of the Galaxy Tab 10.1. I've seen a couple screen shots, pretty sweet if you're into the mutlitwindow/mutlitask thing.
Right now, deoxidized stock meets my needs well. Nothing, other than Google Wallet, appears to be borked. And a few mods, I able to more.
My name is Jamice Welbon and I am a flashaholic I first introduced to flashing through my friend Treo Central.com he get me hooked flashing my Treo 600, 650, 700p and 710wp but soon after that treocentral.com was not cutting it for me so I tried ppc geeks. com and started flashing my touch pro 2.
I tried every windows ROM I could find and even experimented with some android. With the introduction of Windows phone and the stifled future future ROM development I knew I needed something stronger.
I went to Xda developers.com and started using Android on a regular bases. I first purchases the Samsung Epic then I tried the Epic Touch 4g and I am currently using the Galaxy Note 2. I have customized my boot animation (My Little Pony FIM), converted my phone into tablet mode, changed my font, added a hack version of Google Wallet, but I am currently using a non hack version since the Note 2 is now an official supported device. I have a hacked mod to remove the unsupported device message from Google Wallet since my device is rooted.
I am currently using a ROM which is half touch wiz and half stock Android. The dialer and contacts are stock Android. I even put a mod on my phone where I can customize the DPI for every app on my phone. I can even open up as many apps as I want and have them floating on my phone's desktop. I am fening for the Galaxy Note 3.
I am currently thinking about modding my shut down screen.
I need help and that is why I am on this forum. It has affected my job and my relationships in a negative way.

Speaking of which........
I have only had one rom on this phone and i love the phone! I am currently running maks allstar rom and i am ready to try another. I was looking around and saw that there are some floating window mods now! WOOHOOOO SOLD!
I looked around and found this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2139684
So I assume im on MA7 with my current rom whatever that is and I need to get MC2 roms for the floating windows?
The choice between 5 roms what ever shall i do? Does anyone have any suggestions? I like bling and great sound mods and all the bells and whistles including wifi tether and lightsaber spen effects!
It seems like there are alot of different versions of this phone. I assume im in the right spot with a sprint note 2? The mackrom allstars has been working great.
Thank you much!
Flashing adventure
So i ventured off to my flashing adventure. I first tried jelly 16.0 which was pretty awesome and the flash works in regular browser which is AWESOME but it didnt seem to have floating window. I tried installing the apk switcher thingie and it didnt even show up. I found the thread for the floating multi window installed it and nothing..... I flashed the sprint zip file for it and then the phone wouldnt boot.
I installed wolfpack and i still dont have floating windows...... i am going to install the apk next and will update my progress
Ok so im supposed to have a toggle icon which i dont and waiting for answer in the rom forum. Also the flash doesnt work in the desktop version of the browser something that worked in jellie rom 16.0 =(
Im running MacksRom (Plain Jane MA7) at the moment and have multiwindow desktop mod. It's in xposed settings.

No. It's a framework work. As mentioned above, you just need install the Xposed framework APK. I've used it on a deoxidezed MA7 stock rom. MC2 is just more performance tweaks and bug fixes.
Ok i understand more but now i lost multiview
i did the installer i activated the plugins in teh installer i set the resolution on android system to 1280x800 i have rebooted and no multiview now. i cant get it back =(

I finally got it worked out
I checked out the OP in jellyroms post where it talks about installing the framework. I factory reset cleared caches dalvik etc and reflashed. Once flashed i did exactly what it said minus the downloading the items because they were alread in the rom. Now i have multiwindow. I didnt mess with the DPI though only set the resolution to 1280x800 and it works. I am scared to use the DPI changer though because although it looks really super cool. I lost the multiview doing it. I even tried setting the multiview to the same dpi. the com-flash whatever file and reboot still no luck... So it does work but im in regular phone resolution which isnt bad i guess because you dont have to mess with all the apps dpis etc? the internet built in was FC'n during my mess of flashing etc.....
Any ideas or suggestions on why i lost the multiview? I would like to change the dpi at some point but i dont want to factory reset (which is what i had to eventually do to get the multiview back anyway.
Thank you for all that put up with my frantic questions.
Glad you got it up and working!

[Q] Custom Rom PRL update Questions

I used to remember dedicated PRL threads in older forums.
PRL's are not as... Important anymore though it seems. (used to be easier to update too by hand... anyways.)
I'm seeing that there are new PRL's available for my note 2, and i'm getting some odd service issues (and lack of 4g working, but its connecting to it)
And without the ability to use pound codes on custom roms, it can be a bit of a pain.
What is the current PRL that people are using here?
Does anyone have a good trusted download source for it?
(http://prl.digiblur.com/) This is what I found, but it's been so long since I've manually updated PRL's that I dont remember if this was the site to use or not.
http://androidforums.com/transform-ultra-all-things-root/632275-diy-how-change-your-prl.html
Are the instructions given here good to use?
The ones I'm finding here at XDA are saying note 3 and s4/5 and such.
I dont want to deal with a brick, so I'd rather ask the question. Lots of old threads on PRL stuff, but no dedicated PRL thread (that i can find) makes it a bit tough to get up to speed.
If you want to update prl manually you will need to run a custom touchwiz rom. You open your dialer and do ##data# then choose view. There will be a prl write option. For this to work you need to copy the prl to the root of your internal sdcard and rename it to test.prl.
I am not on sprint network so I cant really help you find prls. If you want more help just hit me up. I know most of the roms that have prl write enabled so I can point you towards some roms if you want.

Hmm. I thought you could flash in a PRL though odin even if your rom didn't support it.
I read so many posts of people flashing to TW stock and updating PRL and loosing connectivity or gps issues after switching back.
These new style roms are really sweet, but the loss of some features like PRL updates gets to be a bit wearing on you.
It's hard to find roms like slimbean as well. Being a minimalist, I am picky about my features. battery life is more important to me than fancy overlays or graphics. (though i miss a lot of S-Pen features)
