It seems liks Google started using the new market. What do you guys think about it? I kinda like it
I downloaded the apk and tbh its well better than the old one graphically. The widget section is welcomed and the overall look is just great

I uninstalled the updates (installed 2.2.6 APK), shut down, powered on my phone, checked the market and it updated itself automagically to 2.2.7.
It looks a bit nicer than the old one, although part of me misses the tabs - it works more fluidly than before - haven't had any downloads crash out on me either yet which is a good sign.
how do you get the new market? i dont see any updates on my desire running on cm 6.1.0
One day you'll wake up and it's there. No visible updates, just Google magic.
I just got it today. When I open the market apps it there already. The UI looks good.

Downloads and installations are also a bit quicker which is nice.

More to the point, how do I get rid of it.
Using appbrain I can uninstall the market and briefly use the old one, until it updates itself again later.
And I can't believe google just added some eye candy, but the search function is still rubbish and there aren't any filters - tsk tsk.

I guess you could try uninstalling (from manage applications) and then try and find an old APK for the old market - that might stop updating itself

I wouldn't mind, except there's a big bug (on my Desire - Orange uk). Whenever my phone runs out of battery and I charge it and go to the market, then click on 'my apps' it only shows about a third of them. So I have no idea if I have any updates on the missing ones. The only way I've resolved this is to go into settings/applications and 'uninstall updates' on the marketplace. Briefly the old market comes back before being replaced by the new one, and all my apps are then visible in the market until the next time the power runs out. Very lame.

Doesn't work for me.
Also, I don't think I've had any updates for any apps since the new market came out. I'm hoping this is a coincidence and that Google tested at least that bit.
I have had updates with apps - not many but some since updating to the new market.
not sure why you aren't getting the update - maybe its phasing across handsets in some sort of random order...?

This is the new Market upgrade. Speed has been very much improved. 3.1.3 was slow.
But 3.1.5 has improved on speed.

Have to use FastBoot and then problem always is solved ...
Do we have to wait for new (non beta) version or did you find a solution?
When I use the new market, apps are missing from the installed list.
Eg, Facebook is not listed even though i have it installed, when I search for it, it says installed.
Also it thinks Maps isn't installed....

Delete data and cache and all apps installed from the market will appear in the list. I also do the same when my apps list loads forever and hangs, after that it's faster for some time. This new market is kinda poorly optimized, hope they release a new version to be as fast as the old skool market.
In my opinion the android market app sucks in any of his versions and with any rom, stock or mod.
It's often slow, sometimes i see an update available for an app but when i click on it there is no update button. When perform a search 80% times it find only porno-nudegirls-related things, and also not so related...
I think google really should have to put a lot more attention and start developing an app that is fast and functional and not the crap we have now... And maybe have more respect for all the serious developers here who post their applications in the market and see theirs accounts gone for no reason as appened to Leo...

Seems to work perfectly for the majority of people. I suggest you may have issues with your device if you find it slow. Also, if you keep finding "porno-nudegirls-related things" then I suggest you stop searching for them
In summary, it works perfectly for me. My only beef would be that it just doesn't have a download button, rather than telling you an app is not compatible.
Also, the Honeycomb Market is sooooo much better, so ICS will clearly have a better version as well.
Wow amazing. It's blazing fast. Worth a shot.
I also got the problem that installed apps are missing in the market(Facebook too and about 20 others). Tried clearing data and cache + reboot didnt help.

Market Doctor in Titanium Backup fixes that.

Ty, but market dr. didnt help because he doesnt recognise the links as missing, also most apps in the market are telling me that my phone is not compatible - my guess is that the market also thinks that my installed apps are not compatible and therefor not shown..
Can anyone help? I have no clue what to do.

Yes ... it's often slow.
Yes ... often there is an update available for an app but when i click on it there is no update button
And nearly every time there actually is an update button present ... update will hang due to some kind of connection error (never start downloading app)
Removing new Market update or (fast) rebooting phone solves this problem until new Market update re-install itself again.
My phone NOT faulty ... new Market or maybe something behind the walls of Goggle is buggy ...
Anybody found a prober solution working on not rooted phone
Hating the new search, If say, 5000 results are found, it'l only show about 200-300, wtf?
Me and my friend both have a galaxy nexus. Running 100% stock 4.0.2
Same baseband same version number blah blah blah...
I had his phone earlier and noticed his music app was now called play music but mine was still just music.
I tried to search for the app on the market but it doesnt show up.
If i go on the market from a PC it shows up and says its compatible with my device.
I then noticed that my play movies was missing from my app drawer.
Again i loaded up market and there it was but it says installed!!!
I clicked on the app and it says update. I click update and it just says "error your order is being processed" and then it never updates.
I can open the app from the market but it doesnt show up on my phone at all.
It wont even show up if i go into setting>apps> and look under the all apps tab.
Can anyone help me out with this? What the hell is up with my phone???

Yeah i cleared google play store cache and data and turned phone off for 30 minutes while i was working and its still the same.
Try getting 'market enabler' and temporarily spoofing the T-mobile network (US), then see if your able to update.
Update...
I logged onto the market through my PC and it let me install the play movies app to my device no problem.
The play music app though says installed and if I click to install again it says it will be installed but it never does.
This must be available in the UK because my friend has it on his device running exact same firmware as me...
Why the hell won't this thing install!!?!?!?!?

Google Music is not available in the UK yet. The app comes pre installed but is not available when looking at the market. If your having issues downloading or updating from the market then install it manually (apk here!)

So im supposed to have the purple headphones icon thats just called "music" right?
Not the gold headphones?
I just quizzed my friend about it to see if theres something hes not telling me and he swears hes still 100% stock and hasnt done anything to get the play music apk.
if you could just confirm that im supposed to have the purple headphones icon called music that would be great.
Thanks for replies guys really appreciated.
This Logo?
This is what the logo was until it was rebranded to Google Play Music. Which is now this logo
Both of these logos are for the same app, just different versions (with no actual feature differences).
Your friend may have had the newest version of google music pushed to his phone. This happened to me too. But don't worry, your not actually missing anything.

I still can't get the play movies to show up in the my apps part of the play store. If I search for the app manually it shows up and says installed. It just doesnt show up as installed in the my apps part.
And yeah they must be pushing the app out to other places now. I can't see how you sync though unless that's not available yet still for UK .

Are you talking about syncing your own collection via Google Music in the UK? It is possible because I've done it... and its awesome!! Just have a search on Google for 'google music uk' or something and I'm sure you'll find a tutorial. (Be warned, depending on your library size it may take a while to upload your music. Mine took about a month off and on)

Nono,
I have the app installed no problem from the market.
The issue is if i go into the "my apps" part the app isnt listed as installed on my device.
But if i do a manual search for the app as if you was looking for something new to install it shows up in the list and says installed.
Im wondering why its not showing in the "my apps" part of the market?

Oh right. Well I just had a look on mine and I can't find it either. It could either be a bug within the market or a feature that google added (for some unthinkable reason). But I'd guess everyone has this issue. Nothing to worry about though really
One fine day noticed this sitting at the top of the apps list in market.
Clicking open launches Tetris. Tried freezing tetris and it disappeared, unfroze and it came back. Does this mean it's really a mislabeled entry for tetris and not malware of some sort? But why now all of a sudden?
Solution: See this post.

I don't know. I think it's safe though-read some reviews
Sent from my R800i using XDA
Yea it seems to be just us play users have it. pretty crazy.
Looks like it even has an official market link TestApps, how weird
In market on the phone, there are 337 comments (as of now), but nothing on the web market.
Also, all those reviewing it as safe are simply doing so because hitting open on the app launches tetris. I may be wrong but it could also simply be linking to tetris while actually being more malicious underneath. Kinda like how even a simple batch file can launch two apps (or more) and one app may be a background process, while the other is the visible smokescreen...
I would assume that this app is malicious, as the developers website link, links to a dead domain. I'd suggest removing it asap.

Can't really remove it, even with a system utility, because we simply don't know what to remove!
And freezing/removing tetris seems to remove the entry from the app list in market. If it's trojan-like, it's very well integrated.
I think we're entering a new era of android malware, and it's pretty scary...

Look in /data/app or /sd/android.secure for any .apk with that apps icon, delete the .apk then format dalvik cache and it's gone

LOL, it has no icon either.
So I deleted cache/cleared data for google play, uninstalled it back to the market version and then let it reinstall the google play update and the entry seems to have disappeared. Time will tell...
I looked at it now the icon is yellow and it has a blue and a green picture as the app preview. I uninstalled tetris a long time ago so it has the download option on mine.I'm not going to attempt to download.

So it's definitely tetris then? Just with a buggy market entry?

I'm not sure. When I look up tetris, it shows up normally. When i look up testapps it shows the glitchy thing.maybe it's something that came with tetris? Anyway doesn't google recently for malware apps?
Sent from my R800x using XDA
Wait, where do you see tetris normally? It doesn't show in the market app list anyway...
It's only appeared since the lasted market update, which made some of our other bloatware appear in that list too. I'd say it's just a bloatware version of Tetris, instead of just using the normal download of it.
Updated OP with the solution.
Hey Guys.
Just wanted to ask, if thereĀ“s a possibility to delete old apps that are still shown in the playstore. want a better overview over my apps. there are still apps listed from older devices. want to clean up a bit, after a fullwipe i even would have got a better overview which apps to install.

Known issue for Android app
Hey, I can't post the link (I'm new), but if you google "delete old apps google play store," the first entry is Known issues for Android apps.
"Deleting apps from My Apps/My Orders
At this time, there is no way to delete records of old apps either on the Google Play website (play.google.com) or from the My Apps section of the Google Play Store app.
We know that some users are looking for a way to delete old apps from Google Play, and we'll certainly take this into account as we work to improve the Google Play experience in the future."
Guess we'll have to wait.
