A rom reflash will fix it. The reason the back up doesnt work is it is just backing up what you have and it is broken so to speak. Not sure about using a mac but put a fresh rom zip on your sd card and then flash the rom and let it boot. The common issue for this is doing a reset after the rom flash which removes somethings the roms need to boot.

Phone screwed ? Can't mount SD / emergency calls only

Ok, where to begin:
I Rooted this weekend and have been installing a few roms, all has been fine. This afternoon I tried to partition a fresh SDcard using the windows-recover.bat method to allow apps2sd and that (I believe) is where it all went wrong.
When I rebooted the phone it went into a boot loop, never getting past the HTC logo.
So I factory reset from the HBOOT menu and it still looped, until I put a new SD card in - then it loads ok (I'm using Defrost 2.41d) but after the initial set up it says emergency calls only - I manually select Orange (the phone is a factory unbranded/unlocked CPW handset) - it says it's not allowed to connect - won't connect using my T-Mobile sim either.
It also says the SDcard isn't mounted no matter what SDcard I try (tried 4x).
I've tried booting into recovery and installing a zip from the SDcard so try and install a new ROM and it fails saying unable to mount SDcard.
I have also done a cache wipe, and basically any other option that sounds like a wipe type option from within the Recovery menu on HBOOT/Clockword MOD.
I'm lost, if I can't access the SDcard in any way then I'm screwed and can't reflash.
Any ideas gratefully received...
have you tried pushing a rom to the phone from your computer? or unrooting with an official HTC RUU ROM and starting again?
also search the "USB bricked" stuff on the desire android development forum...
Thanks for the advice
I'm trying to push a std Official ROM but the PC just doesn't see there is a phone attached when the phone is in normal use mode, it starts to see it in HBOOT mode but then says the driver has failed etc.
Someone elsewhere has mentioned the USB brick possibility but from what little I've read it requies SDcard functionality and my phone just doesn't see ANY SDcard - even in HBOOT / Clockword MOD recovery mode.
any feedback?
could you solve the problem?

[Q] Endless Reboot After Flashing a New ROM

Hi, I have a Desire HD and I just flashed this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1460820
It installed without any errors, but after the installation during the reboot, nothing happens. The phone just keeps rebooting endlessly with the HTC logo and then the beatsaudio logo and back to the HTC logo again. I pulled out the battery and turned it on again but the same thing happens. Please help!

did u do a full wipe? just do a full wipe, and then reflash the rom.
Also, make sure that the md5sum is the correct for the rom zip file. If the file is corrupted, then u will never be able to flash it.
How do I do a full wipe? I can access recovery, so how do I do it from there?
select the option wipe data/ factory reset
BUT as you can imagine all your data will be deleted!
and use the + / - buttons for selecting; wake up button should be the enter button
I did that, but the problem still persists.
then use an other rom that you can flash.. maybe the rom you downloaded is broken?

Every rom in the site has a MD5SUM, that is a unique number to check is the file is corrupted or not.
When in the sdcard, the check using a cmd as admin the following
(whatever directory the sdcard is) ¿?:\FOLDER THE FILE IS ON\md5sum NAME OF FILE.ZIP
check that number...if that is ok, then change the rom.
Do you use alot of apps perhaps ?
Are these moved to SD ?
I too had problems with Rebooting after upgrading and it appears a HUGE BUG was introduced in the official Gingerbread OS ...
Check this link out and see how many hundred of others have this reboot bug:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=25563
There is however a fix for those with rooted phones, simply install LINK2SD, which runs a boot-up script and allows you to save/link all your apps on SD card in a 2nd seperate partition (ideally use format ext4 for this partition) and makes the phone believe these are all installed on the local data space ..

Help wanted please

Hi,
I Have My Galaxy Nexus , i finished backing up my phones SD Partition, that went smoothly ...
Then I went to peerform a Nandroid back up i received a Boot image error..
Then i went to boot up the device normally since i received the error and once it boots into android after the lock screen it shuts off and reboots over and over....
I went to format cache and format Data and the same thing happens only strange thing is it still showed my normal desktop set up apposed to starting fresh before it shuts off into another boot sequence...
i need help.
Other known issue i couldn't boot into usb (Mac) while in CWM
EDIT: Now CWM is backing up the boot image/Nandroid... (Strange), still need help because of bootloop
EDIT2: stopped at error in backup / data due to me formatting

Mate suddenly stuck in bootloop

After running Joe stones cyanogenmod10.1 for almost a year I suddenly found my phone in a bootloop
It is stuck at the boot animation, restarting it brings it back to the same state.
All I did was somehow keep one of the buttons pressed (not even sure which one), and did see the shut down/reboot menu flashing by.
The mt1 U06 does appear in my file manager (linux) but cannot be ejected, trying to connect does nothing but show progress indicator.
Tried adb reboot> device not found
fastboot recovery> waiting for device
I have started making a backup using twrp, (yes, could access it) but that may backup what's broken too...)
Any idea if this is fixable?
But also, Why, oh why did this happen?

Usualy for the fastboot output that you got it means you need to reinstall the drivers.
Sent from my SM-G850F
Reinstalling drivers if for windows is it not?
Until now I found that linux is super easy in installing adb and fastboot, and previously, during instalation of the phone, installing adb and fastboot was all I did.
Assuming that the 10.1 ROM still is present on your SD card try to reinstall it dirty. Just wipe cache and dalvik cache before rebooting into the system. Only the rom.
Got it working again with just a factory reset, but off course, all data and settings were gone.
I did try to put (partial) backups back but that broke the system again.
It is a shame that all my texts are gone, but I'll get over it.
Thanks for the help guys!
