Hi man, i'm going to flash ICS on my xperia play.
but but according to you, what is the best version ?? FXP ICS, DooMLoRD ICS or other ?
what is your experience?
Thx!
FXP and ICX are the fastest
i use ICX
Why not just wait for Sony's official version?
I was waiting for Sony to release official but am tempted too. The reason I was waiting was the touchpads but I think they have been fixed. Can anyone confirm whether the pads are working as well as the stock ones.
The touchpad fixed version of cm9 is not out jet, it comes on the weekend.

Well, I've just flashed DooM's ICS and can't get a signal at all. And Keyboard/other apps constantly force close.
Don't get me wrong, ICS itself is miles better than the current stock ROM. But apparently, it's not ready for everyone just yet. xD
FYI - I'm on T-Mobile. Apparently it's my provider that's the issue. I might try a different SIM card and test my luck, my phones unlocked so there's no loss i guess!
Touchapads
Touchpads may be fixed in FXP107, its true. But i think, it will be fixed only one way of touchpad using. The same is in CM7.2. We must wait.

FXP ICS of course!
I think the force closing is probably caused by your phone not being .62
I had this problem too, so its back to CM7 for me
Hi,
I'm a new Xperia Arc S user, this is my first android phone as well (previously - WP7 on Samsung Focus, unlocked it and installed custom roms there - im experienced)
Got this phone since a couple of days now, it's running android 2.3.4, as ICS update is not available in my country yet. The phone came with PlusGSM branding, although can't tell the difference to stock android because I never had one.
I installed couple of apps, did some updates from android market and now I have like 44MB free only. Anyway now I'm wondering what to do next? Do you recommend anything in particular, like flashing to ICS, rooting, wait for official ICS update, etc?
Gonna read some guides like "Ultimate v1.0 Newbie's Guide For Arc / Arc S User" meantime
Wrong forum for question look at Q&A Section

Oh sorry for that, could a moderator move my thread there?
ps. I'm just upgrading to official ICS via PC Companion, it poped up 1h ago...
I heard that there is no valid method of unlocking bootloader on Xperia Arc S without loosing DRM's. So I would like skip this part and try some custom roms that doesnt require to have it unlocked. Could you recommend any particular custom ICS roms ?
Has anyone with more abilities than me tried flashing Xperia S on Arc s Phone?
I know nothing about packing and unpacking kernels and systems...
But if it serves as a meter on my experiences, I've flashed all of Arcs Firmwares successfully, unlocked bootloader, Installed Custom firmwares on it, Cyanogenmod (4.1 and 4.2.2), P.a.c (4.2.2), MIUI. All sucessfully and used them for a long time.
As I know from friends that Arcs firmware can be flashed on Arc. Neo L firmware can be flashed onto the Xperia Play etc...
So would you know if with a little bit of tinkering Xperia S could be flashed on Arc S?
Or, if it is just bluberish?

Better not to try. You might hard brick your device. That means, that your device will be unrecoverable.

The question that comes is WILL it actually run? As long as your Xperia Play has a proper rom without a messed up device ID you should be able to snag it no problem. From my experience, the ICS Betas (4.0) and Sonygenmod (4.1) are the only roms that don't do retarded things to the phone, thus allowing proper play store use.
I bought the Xperia Play r800x I believe. It has the Verizon Logo so thats what my assumption is. My question is, can I use AuroraPlay on it? Can I flash the custom rom to it? I noticed that the tags on the official thread only say GSM, so I have no idea if I can flash this.
