[Q] wifi file transfer - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Is there a wifi file transfer app that can mostly or completely supplement the lack of usb mass storage?

if i understand what you mean.. There is no lack... just plug it and you have 16gb like you would if it have an SD card.
it also supports wifi-direct
I also use Dropbox... (linked in my signature)

Not sure what you're wanting to do over wifi that you can't over USB but you could use an app like Samba Filesharing https://market.android.com/details?...51bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5mdW5reWZyZXNoLnNhbWJhIl0. to access the phone over your network.

Dropbox I have found to be the best for me.
ES file Explorer can access network drivers.
WIFI transfers aren't as fast as via USB though.
I haven't tried accessing my files directly from my PC, only through a HDD hooked up to my awesome router .
Hi mate, im not an expert or anything, but ive tried BROWSIX which does the job for me. Its free frm the market. Hope that helps

WiFi Explorer is the best out there Been using it for months without any issues
-----------------------------
ES File Explorer works best for me.
QuickSSHd if you like SSH
With Samba Filesharing you can access your SD-Card on the phone from your windows PC via network share \\ANDROID\SD-Card (for example).
Very easy to use and loads up automatically if Wifi is conncted.
I use it because it's easier to access to phone from a pc than vice versa...
Do any of those applications allow you to play an music or video file from a shared drive? I mean without having to fully transfer the file onto the DHD.

Network Storage access App

I was wondering if there were any network storage access apps out there for the N7. I'm not looking to stream to it, I'm mainly looking to see/access the files in their native format from my home server to my N7.

The list can go on and on.
two not very popular are fx explorer and xplore .. give them a try .. My two fav.. For working with ROOT FILES NOTHING BEATS ROOT Explorer.. everyone who owns android should own this one..
Good Luck
ES Explorer
It has LAN, 6 different cloud storages that you can link, and it has root Explorer built in (enable this feature in options menu). I stream movies from my buddys NAS with this file Explorer. It's free, at least check it out.

Best way to access internal GS3 memory

Is there any way that I can access the phones inter all memory and transfer music / pictures much faster? When using the USB cable on my computer it takes so much longer to transfer a small file, than when I just take out my SD card and plug it in directly to the computer. Any ideas? Thanks
You can use FX file explorer. You can cut snd paste your files where you want. There is also a root add-on you can download as well.
Hope this helps

Has any one managed to enable usb storage on ftv?

Im using xbmc but would like to add an external hdd

Not possible atm. For now just connect the external drive to a PC on the same network and present it as an SMB/NFS share and add it to XBMC.

Nexus 5X USB OTG

Hi, i have one, and i have buy usb otg cable. I can access the files, from google explorer, not from others, but i can not play files, like films.
I can copy the files to the nexus 5x memory and then play them.
Any way to work from the usb otg?
Do you have something that can play that codec? If you don't have something that can play the file it will not open. Try VLC for example and see if they work.

I think he means that he can't play it in the default built in media applications, on account of it not being cataloged in the media database. But like you suggested, VLC should be able to do that.
I had VLC, i can not play my video files from my USB OTG, i can see then, but i can open then, to play
From others file explorers i can not access my USB OTG, only from android 6 explorer
I don't bother with other explorers when I use mine. Did you check permissions for the other file explorers? They are off by default so you may need to turn on some stuff.

Hello just wondering if anyone what's tried to use a USB type c flash drive (otg flash drive) like this one
https://www.sandisk.com/home/mobile-device-storage/ultra-dual-usb-type-c
I'm wondering if the music app will recognize music from a otg flash drive so I can keep music on it instead of the phone? Has anyone tried this?

I just noticed now with the L update none of my file managers can see the thumb drive. I have to use the built in. No apps that can find data can't see the thumb either.

Looks like L does break it. Wonder if M fixes it.
