Anybody porting a ROM to SK4G ?
Can anybody port CM7 or any other ROM to a SK4G ?

Read every page of every page of every sub-forum in SK4G on XDA and you should have your answer.
Given that the search function wouldn't give such comprehensive results I can't bash on you for not using it, but I can bash on you for not reading.

Given that I don't want to be the **** who doesn't give a comprehensive answer. Yes its coming. This has been asked a million times. Hold yer horses brahskies. Besides its not like the 15 seconds it takes this phone to reboot from a crash is going to make or break a SMS date with a female. That time is more than made up for with the pure win keyboard. lawlskies.

It's been over a month & still no ROM yet ? Are we even getting anywere near CWM or a Custom ROM ? & Let's say if we get CWM working , then we need to make / get a ROM or port 1 .
Dear lord. please read before you post, or at least search. this has been asked about 10 times this week. CWM is close. once CWM is done, we will begin working on a rom.
Do you have any idea how long it took to get anything on the G1?

The TouchWiz default is terrible & has alot of bug's & crash's alot .

For future reference . Please keep all post in the Dev section An Actual Thread Containing Development of some sort. this is a question/statement that you could have put in the general where you would have noticed the same statement being mentioned &nd replied to over there
Ok , but guy's even if CWM is done , How long are we looking at for a ROM ? & It would be CM7 i bet and no other ROM , Unless someone port's a good 1 .
ETA's are not helpful to anyone. they make devs mad and users antsy when things aren't ready in time. it'll be ready when it's ready.

the stock touchwiz ROM is not bad. my phone never crashes and i never removed any bloat yet. if your having problems change your launcher to LP, ADW, Go Launcher or something. When Clockworkmod is ready we can work on Mods/Tweaks to make the ROMs more stable and efficient. if your looking to get CM7 on your Sidekick4G we'd need a gingerbread leak/kernel to have it even stable enough for daily use.
If you so tired of waiting maybe you should build your own cwm and roms and stop been a baby about it. Is a work in progress, deal with it.

Seriously though, just YESTERDAY did we get a cwm with mapped buttons and is somewhat funtional.
Even that is a WIP but hopefully it will be up to snuff soon.
Once that's done... then work can begin on roms.

Yes, if you use the wireless / wifi tether app, you're set for tethering.
Also, if you want a theme made, go ask in the themes/apps section, they'll help you out there. I know billbowers does themes for a fact.
Also your root method will depend on the hboot, so check it before you root it, and do NOT any OTAs before you root.
Also, you'll have to do the appropriate root method for the extra phone.
Theres a few roms out there that has all that integrated into the rom and theres themes made already for those roms,heres a few threads that have what you want...

There's only 2 phones with slide-out qwerty keyboards at this time, running Android. The HTC Shift and the Samsung Epic. Shift you would be pseudo familiar with, being from the HTC lineup. Epic on the other hand may be a little different than what you have read so far, especially if the phone is running Gingerbread. Good luck.

Im new and i was wondering how to switch from rom to rom correctly.. i had one by one team that was sense 3.5 and tried to flash one that was sense 3.0.. i was able to do it but i had both roms almost.. i still had some of the wall papers and apk.. i tried looking all over and no luck.. if anyone can help please pm me or write a response THANK YOU!

Sounds like a dirty flash. Did you start a fresh install, wipe everything, prior to installing the new one? If you just flashed over the other build, merging/meshing may occur, but at least it was usable.?

I agree, especially since he is going from one sense version to another. The basic rule of thumb "You can never wipe enough"
Ok now first I want to thank everyone who's posted to help me and pointed me into the right directions... Second the shooter ROM by GW is flashed n running great with everything working .... Now here's my delema I veiwed both shooter ROM and destroyer ROM on you tube now plz don't get me wrong I love GW's shooter ROM but I like the look n options for personalizeation the destroyer ROM offers ... Can someone help with this??? LOL omg what a noon question but i loved seeing all the options to personalize my screens

Ok I first want to thank everyone with my first root on my HTC EVO and how to flash roms an properly..LOL now that second phone I activated well it a LG Marquee and I want to just do a basic root and put WiFi tethering on it no roms or anything special bit all I've found on this is for the LG black or something .... Is there a root for the marquee or what do I do???

yea, ics, im studying it since the last month came. and im getting into it. but i must master the javascripts 1st. so it really takes time but better than compiling an SGY ICS would atleast take days. hardware comptibility. the least

The main problem for the SGY is being its RA Mand its GPU right ? Hope you can come up with an ICS ROM . Really want that .. . Morever I have real doubts on how its performance is going to be . . . as SGY has very limited resources . .

Why is it that all new devs first come to our forum to test things?? . I am not at all trying to scare this dev and make him run away but its just human nature not to believe when there are couple of reasons like these (That guy has only 2 posts, no android phone and he is from symbian OS)

As taking the base as cm7
It had the same buggs in cm7
So i didnt post it .......
Hope this one might have the same buggs because nobody fixed the present buggs in cm7
If you want to help us . Try to port another cm7 at first before you doing this

I did use the tutorial mentioned above. I'll be getting my Galaxy Y in no time.
About the Rom
- Flash it via CWM
- Base rom do has bugs as mentioned by sgy.creed. Use patches by Mr.Vivek
- LeWa-OS rom is actually ported from HTC Hero. So I think it'll have screen resolution problems

Same bugs mentioned in cm7 section because it is made with the base of cm7 for sgy

u should know that i don`t know what i was doing ... i just was angry about my device because it works slowly .. so i googled how to improve performance of my device and i used something called adrenaline boost then i saw that topic at this site and i just did what was written
i really don`t understand anything about smartphones softwares ... but i saw the steps and i thought it was easy , but somebody told me that i should have cm9 befor what i did !!!

glad to hear that's worked for you. CM9 is the most stable for our device. you can try cm10 or cm10.1 if you want to test newer version. it's also run well, but the main problem is our ram. it's to small to handle. so if you want to get performance, stability and battery friendly i suggest you keep CM9.
you should backup first, lol :laugh: nandroid backup for your rom, in case you have to back to stock rom to claim the guarantee. but yeah, you can flash stock rom anyways. there is on sammobile.com
i usually using gobackup to backup sms, contacts, call log, etc. and my contacts always sync to my google account. (i know most people think go app is crap, yeah it is, but this one is working well for simple backup ).
i suggest after installing new rom you install app manually from play store. because different android version usually had different apk build.

I dont know you guys, but she is tired of her stock ROM since it freezes a lot of times, and yes, I have checked it, I tried updating, hardreset...etc and after a week the phone gets a lot of performance issues.
So my question is, I would like a modified ROM from the official last update if it exist, I mean that everything is working on the phone and it is of course faster than stock phone. This is not a questions "which is the best" nope, I just want to hear your reccommendations because I am not a user of this phone and I dont know very well all different versions etc. Furthermore I have read a lot on the forums, and i have a small idea what could work for this case.

Root the phone properly , download hasson2000's all in one toolkit , makes it easier to flash kernels .... it will help u with bootloader unlocking too ..... And any rom over here is better than stock rom

You can use WinDroid 2.0 toolkit. If u want good ROM... Ignorance is really good but try something from higher shelf HTCdroid. It's the best ROM for HTC One V! The smoothest and the fastest. But a lot of ROMs has one issue. Data usage doesn't work... Why? I don't know I'm working on it but here is one ROM what haven't got it it's MoDaCo.one Ir2 here it works. But it's outdated so use newer ROM like Ignorance!

thanks but, the main ones have good 3G connection right?? I mean ignorance and HTCDroid right??
Im starting the process, man this stock ROM gives problems even while sync contacts
If you are tired of sense shpongle is the way to go. If you are okay with it, pick htcdroid. Both best in its classes. Htcdroid seems bugless or only minor bugs visible while shpongle got camera dead - you need 3rd party apk.
