Hello,
I've had my xperia play for a few weeks now and today I was bored and I looked at the pad in plain sunlight and noticed there are 2 "skidmarks" on the pad. They are barely noticeable though... However, since they are pararell to each other im guessing that the sliding action from the screen is the cause of the marks.
Anybody else have these? Will they get worse with time/use?
It would be nice to have a gamepad scratch protector but I couldn't find any
Here's a pic so you can see what I mean, it was hard to photograph tho.

Cheers
Me too. After a few weeks/months I noticed 1/2 of these. Right now after 4 or so months of use I have like 4-5 of those marks.
It's like it scratches the finger-print-proof finish/protection and shows the glossy plastic behind it. It's the same color but since it reflects light it's noticeable on most angles.
Well that sucks... I wonder why nobody has made a skin for it yet, it would give the pad a different look and protect it from this issue

I suppose you could get a big sheet of Screen protector stuff and cut it out to fit the game pad, I may try that as I have a lot of the stuff...

True, but im not good with cutting stuff lol... I don't want it to look ugly
I might print a stencil using the front high res official renders and then cut it from there...
One of the clips on my Otterbox Commuter case made a mark right through the middle of the touch areas in only a couple days. It would've gotten nasty really quick if I didn't do something about it. I filed them off, which I had already planned to do anyway because they did not offset the clips from the top and bottom protector pieces and they would touch when fully closed preventing a smooth closing action and also forcing the two halves apart slightly when pushed fully closed. I also noticed marks forming on the long, silver, sticker that is visible from the bottom when slid open but I would recommend leaving those clips after filing them off and noticing how much more difficult it can be to manipulate the volume buttons some times. My theory was that they could have just made the whole thing a replacement battery cover but they would have to come up with an alternate way to protect this side if they did that (formed TPU material like used in a fitted keyboard skin may have done the trick).
Actually screen protector on the game pad is a pretty bad idea... when you slide it, it will start to peel off, and it may damage some components like the flex cable.

So no solution then?
actually, I was thiking of using invisible shield pieces, since its thinner and adheres to devices reaaally well...
These scratches are "normal". When I bought the phone I got 1 scratch form the previous user. Now I have 4 scratches and 2 small holes under both sides of sticks.

you can't feel these holes with the finger, they are just visible, on the pic they are brighter but really a little bit darker

Yeah i think i know what the cause is. On the back of the screen, there are 2 little plastic? pads that probably help the screen slide with a smooth motion and probably to avoid the rest of the back of the screen scratching the entire gamepad. Problem is that constant friction between the little pads and the surface of the gamepad is whats causing the wear and making it look like that...
The scratching in the middle is probably cause of the ribbon cable.
Oh well... looks like theres not much to do except to cut a screen protector or something and place it there.
Thanks for the photo though!
If it's already in friction, I don't think adding a film on top of it will help at all. If anything it'll damage it too and probably make it look messy.
I guess pressing down while sliding makes this happen quicker, but that's just the natural way to do it and pretty much can't be avoided.

Hey, just because your xperia play is now so ugly you don't even want to use it in public, it does not mean we want it to go down the same path
lol, just kidding... however I don't think adding a film such as an invisible shield which is really really thin and adheres itself to the surface would do any harm... it's military grade...I've had it on a lot of devices and it never gets scratched or torn...
We'll see... hope they fix it for the next revision or something
I just swapped out my phone at the AT&T store and I think I can feel some sliding contact on this phone that I did not feel on my last one so the usage wear and tear may vary per unit.

"Military grade" doesn't change the fact that it would obviously reduce clearance in an area that is already known to contact (no clearance) which will cause more friction. If anything, it would need to be a super-thin low-friction material to help at all. Invisible Shield is specifically marketed for it's high-friction "sticky" surface texture.
Plastic around PS buttons is very tough and hard to scratch, designed especially to be able to handle frictions with back of the part with screen. But everything has its own durability so sooner or later scratches will occur. So it's normal.
Flex cable DOES NOT scratch the plastic - I'm 100% sure, I have disassembled it so many times (see signature) that I think I know good how it's built.
The scratches are caused by the several protruding areas on the back of the screen part. It can be barely seen when brining the edge of the back close and horizontally to our eye and looking straight on the triggers, some areas are a little but rounded down to the screen, especially between both tracks and the center concave part and it's surrounded by these protruding areas.
Oh, almost forgot:

The screws are hidden under these two plastic, they aren't cause of the scratches, because they're a little bit under the main layer of the back
Sorry if anything is hard to understand, I tried to describe it as best as I could.
Peace.
thanks for your insight, however I still believe the little plastic pads I was referring to are the cause of some of the scratching, at least on my xperia play, they line up perfectly with the scratch marks.
So, my play started scratching today ; has anybody applied and confirmed the screen protector fix or has any other suggestions?
I exchanged one after a week and a half and it was not showing any of these scratches yet. The new unit showed the mark under the right analog area the next day and a long scratch beneath the screen days later. I think some have better tolerances than others.

Be wary of putting too much pressure on the flex ribbon when using the slider. Mine has become irreversibly damaged from too much friction, and now causes the back light to flicker on and off randomly. Disassembly and cleaning the cable (the black coating has begun to flake off) has helped but the backlight still acts up randomly. There is literally next to no clearance between the game pad and the screen...

Hmm it would have been better to use a rail of some kind over this clear sticker that we got, case in point:

My palm catches the film and lifts it(it's protruding a little bit off the phone's edge), letting in dirt and other grime. I'm thinking of cutting an old piece of my Bodyguardz protector into thin strips as a replacement since my phone looks like it has saran wrap on it . Is this happening to any of you guys?
This should be posted on accesories
Here happening the same, that slider film will eventually leaving it´s place
Hope members came with a good option
I didn't think they made an accessory for this problem haha.
LOL! That film is supposed to come off right away. It's the same protective stuff as they put on the screen and the camera to keep it from scratching during shipping and handling.
Yeah I know, but I have seen TP2 friends without that film and a thin line is marked on the housing...
As we have screen protectors, there must be something like slider film protector
Yeah, I don't think it's supposed to be taken off--these slider devices all have some kind of guard against abrasion. My protector has sliding marks on it already that would have been on the paint if it weren't for the film sheets.
It's just a factory film, the same one you see on the underside of the screen half, and the screen itself.
You're supposed to take it off, it was never designed for some kind of protection
We know it wasn't designed to stay there but it's already a proven fact that when it is removed your casing will eventually have small scratches on both sides of the keyboard. These guys are saying to keep it on and it will protect the casing itself.
Okay, so which is it? Supposed to be removed or stay? I keep rubbing mine back down to make it restick, as it keeps wanting to peel up a bit.
The stuff on the back of the screen I've heard several times keeps the keys from getting scratched, but here I'm not sure what could happen.. Scratching the back of the screen portion is a non issue but I wouldn't want the sides of the keyboard scratched.

I wouldn't exactly say it's "proven fact", it's merely a problem that a few have said. If we were to post a poll I'm sure the problem isn't as widespread as you believe it is (even then that poll would be inflated because people only complain, they never say "it works as intended")
I think it has to do with how you're sliding it closed. I slide it close either one-handed by bringing my fingers towards my lower palm, or two handed with my thumbs and index fingers on each corner on each corner of the phone. Both ways I slide it I can see that the top half never makes contact with the bottom (there's an insignificant, but purposeful gap).
I could see if people slide it closed by applying pressure to the upper half, such as pushing your thumb on the screen or frame or zoom bar and dragging it over, then it could cause scrape marks on the phone.
I say protective films are silly. Especially the factor ones, my father kept the factory film on the screen of his old Treo and it did nothing but attract dirt underneath it. On a related note I never use screen protectors either, and yet all my phones I've ever owned have never suffered a scratch. I understand though that I may be more "gingerly" about handling my phone, but I think as long as you're treating the phone like the device it is then you won't see these problems.
Long story short, if you're developing scratches on your keyboard rethink how you're sliding the phone.

Actually you did! The first few posts in the thread you linked to talks about keyboard key scratches.
Well I definately notice a pattern, it seems the T-Mobile version suffers from these issues the most, so perhaps it is too tight.
I still think the primary issue is how you close or open the device, I can't imagine such severe scratching to occur unless you are actually pushing the halfs together and MAKING them rub. I mean you would feel it scraping if it were to do that.
Since I have a Tilt 2 I can't say for the T-mobile kind, I can only wonder which variant of the TP2 is closet to the original design.
Now I still say that keyboard film wouldn't help this matter, because if it's enough to scratch the plastic, it's just going to demolish whatever you put in there, I mean it's hard to believe there is room for the film in the first place if these scratchs are occuring.

Heh, read fail. But hey, look, keyboard scratching, see? Ahem.
As for the overall "rough use is the only explanation" I'd say people who use the hardware keyboard a LOT could be very careful and still cause wear and tear in this area regardless how careful they are. Sure, you could open the phone in bad ways, personally I always open it holding the phone with both hands and push the screen up with my thumbs. I SOMETIMES hold the back of the phone and slide the screen with my other hand, but not that often.
And honestly I don't use my hardware keyboard that much as I'm not a big texter and I use TouchPal, but the hardware keyboard was a must-have for those times I want it. I can bang out a quick message in Touchpal pretty fast, but if I'm using ssh or typing a longish email, there's no substitute.
design or not
the clear film left and right of the key board may have not been intended to provide protection against abrasions caused when sliding the screen up and down but that is exactly what it does. on my tp2 the left side has been caught and pulled away from the kb last night and i now plan to cut old screen protectors to replace both sides. if anyone has removed the films can you please post the results?
Just recently bought a 3-pack of Basalguardz, and while the protector itself is bad (doesn't distort quality, doesn't feel too different than plain screen, etc), I put on two of the three and couldn't get rid of bubbling that appeared on both top and bottom. I actually ordered them on mistake (wanting to buy the anti-glare one), but from Amazon reviews, it doesn't seem much better in that regard.
Anyway, can anybody comment on Aduro Membrane screen protectors (anti-glare particularly) and how they fit? I'm not too concerned about screen quality of the anti-glare option as long as it actually is anti-glare/matte (only a small percentage of my phone usage "requires" a high-quality screen), but whether I end up with that same bubble effect on top/bottom/sides as with the Basalguardz is a big deal to me.
I'm sure there are better options out there, but I don't feel comfortable spending more than $5 on a single screen protector when I'm liable to screw up at least once out of every three, and $5 for a 3-pack seems nice.
I actually just got these yesterday. This fit is...eh. Not super impressed by that aspect. I have slight bubbling effects around the edges, because trying to align the camera whole perfectly made it so the right side of the protector is basically resting on the end of the glass. It's barely noticeable, but present. However, it is most definitely the clearest SP I have ever used. It's basically like having it unprotected.

Do you think it would fit properly (as in, without bubbling around the edges) if it was moved a little in any direction (even if that means covering the camera a bit - unless that'd also mean the speaker and therefore bubbling around there)? If not, I may want to continue my search...after seeing how easily I could pop the BasalGuardz off (in order to return it), I definitely don't want bubbling around the edges.
I'm also looking at this Fosman Anti-Glare screen protector, since it does leave a little empty space on the sides (and eliminates the bubbling problem as a result) - any thoughts? Most of the bad reviews seem to be regarding the pixelation due to it being anti-glare (no-duh).
I don't know about the Fosman, but yeah, if you moved mine to the left a wee bit, it would not cover the speaker at all, and get rid of the bubbling. It's just that the fit is not perfect. Also, protip, this guy in particular seems to be a lint magnet. The first one I applied just sucked the lint up; moved to a different, less linty area of my apartment, and got it on clean as a whistle.

Alright. I'll probably start with the Fosman then, since it's only $3 (hopefully doesn't take too long to ship since it's not Prime-eligible), and then move to the Aduro if anything; there doesn't seem to be many other decent ones on Amazon for the price, so hopefully either will do.
I have the Aduro. Its a good screen protector, but there's no way to get aligned 100% without some lifting around the edges because the screen protector is cut to size.

Ah, in that case, I'll make sure they're not cut to fit - I'd rather have a little missing on the edges than bubbling.

Of course noticeable pixelation and it covers the phone really well. Almost to the top of the phone, but noticeable space on the bottom. So at the top dust and crap can get under and it looks dirty. Otherwise the matte feeling is great and works as suppose to.
Although I like the basal one better, these two are very comparable and can be had for cheap!
I just received mine and put it on and it fits perfectly! I love it!

I hate the Aduro! There is absolutely no way to do it without lifting. You have NO IDEA how many hours i spent rubbing the edges and get them to stick. The Aduro came with three screen protectors. I rubbed the first one for a week, still lifts, apply the second one and rubbed it for a week, still life. I thought "Hey maybe it might go away in couple weeks" but NOPPPEEEEE IT GETS WORST. Next thing I know the lifting has spread to other edges of the screen protector. That's when I finally gave up.
I purchased this one and i"m happy with it so far. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00724P35O/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
*The right edge is not lifting, it's just light reflecting on the edges. This screen protector is absolutely PERFECT for me.

I ended up going with the Fosmon, and liked it so much that I ordered another 3-pack for when I need to replace them. I didn't apply it too well (kinda off with placement), but I can tell that when I do re-apply it (and correctly that time), there wouldn't be any bubbling. It sucks that it doesn't cover the entire front, but at least it covers the important parts.
As for actual quality - definitely improves outdoor viewing (still have to crank up the brightness, but everything can be read much more easily), and definitely love the silky/smooth feeling on the screen, great for Swype.

I've always taken my phone to my service provider...Verizon. I'm not sure about the other companies but Verizon will install your screen protector for their customers for free whether it's a new or used phone. They install screen protectors all the time and do a great job with no air bubbles. Hope this helps.
Hi all, I spent a very long time working through the different watches, decided I didn't want the potential screen burn issues of the G watch R or the Zen watch (and I love the look of the zenwatch) and eventually decided I wanted the Smartwatch 3.
Then came the strap, I couldn't find the metal band anywhere and wanted both the silicone and the metal band so I've just received a new Smartwatch 3 with metal band with an idea to order a silicone strap later...
Anyway, nowhere did I read that the metal band contains plastic, does anybody else's or have I got a newer cheaper one? The strap is indeed metal and took a while to remove the pins to shorten the band but the part the watch goes into appears to be silver painted plastic....
If the others are like this how easy are they to scratch on the front? Am I going to end up with a £200 watch with scratches on it?
Cheers all
I wanted to start a new topic but I'm hijacking yours, because this morning my stainless steel SW3 had an unexpected encounter with a wall (not a bang though), and I scratched the part outside the watch core, which is indeed fu#king silver painted plastic.
I would have scratched it anyway, it was a mistake, but then...
I try to polish it with a nail polishing machine (with the dedicated thingy, which is like cloth... I don't know what's its name), and I didn't know it was plastic until I tried on the bottom (on a link) and it worked, so I thought "why not!" and I made a fu#king dent on the top.
Which of course is way more visible than the scratch in the first place.
I'm attaching pictures of before and after (they are not that detailed but you'll understand).
I'm going to write Sony about this as I'm pissed about this, they should have said it wasn't ALL stainless steel.
The same thing happened on my Z Ultra, where the borders appear to be aluminum (and Sony said so itself), where it's really silver painted plastic.

More pics of the inside without the core: it seems like the inner casing is made of plastic, including top and bottom bezels, where the left and right borders seems like steel.
The plastic inside is not painted, so it's pretty clear that the top is painted.
If you look closely you'll see several hinges, the plastic casing seems latched to those. And if you notice, hinges are present only at the sides.

No problems mate, I would have bought it anyway, and since I bought at like 20 euros more than the rubber version, I'm not feeling all that ripped off to be fair.
I just wish they were clear about this particular thing, and I would have paid more for the whole watch in steel.
Seeing the inside, it's clear they could have engineered a simple way to keep the bottom part of the inside casing plastic made (to ensure no harm is done to the core when you swap bands), and the top all in steel.
It could have been done, and it would have costed like 50 cent more (for them) while charging it a premium price (for us).
Anyway, I wrote to the Italian customer care, and as they obviously won't know anything, I will bother other regions like UK/US as well until someone answers.

I think it can, but it's yet to see if they'll supply the part to the general market or keep it to the self for the eventual warranty repair...

All metal isn't the best thing either. I had the LG g watch r and that thing scratched so easy. That's the main reason I sold it for the sw3.

Let's differentiate from metal to metal... The LG G R is black metal, which is a pain in the arse to polish, while the SW3 is (at least the band is) stainless steel, satin metal. You can polish it like a thousand times and it will still look good.
That would be the case, if it was all metal.
Sent from my C6833 using Tapatalk
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. It has certainly adjusted what I would be willing to pay for the metal strap to go on my SW3. As soon as it was announced I wondered how they were going to get the watch module to fit in a rigid stainless steel surround. I just assumed it would have a nylon or polycarbonate insert.
I wonder if there is some sort of protective coating that could be applied to the plastic bit to protect it from scratching without spoiling the look.
I have the 'metal' smartwatch 3 as well...
Unfortunately, there would be no way to have it all metal!
The radios wouldn't work... GPS / NFC / Bluetooth, would all really stop working if the top and bottom parts were also metal and not plastic.
Just worth keeping that in mind.
Yeah, it's a bit crappy, but I'm still more than happy with it.

I don't agree with that. The screen is not made of metal, so there's plenty of space for gps/nfc/bluetooth waves to go out of there. I'd rather have an all plastic core.

You know how LCD screens work right? Especially the Transreflective one in the SW3? It is backed by a silver / metal lining to reflect the light outwards, so putting the radios behind the screen won't work either! If they put an p-oled in there (like the GwatchR), then that might work, but not with the current screen tech.

You know what? I didn't know that! OK, I'd prefer having the plastic core than, it would be less exposed to scratches...

I was a little taken aback when I noticed it was plastic as well and my first thought was scratches to!
I'm going to keep an eye out for a silver permanent marker in a similar shade, so if it gets scratched I should be able to just 'paint' over it.
Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Sharpie-Permanent-Markers-Metallic-39108PP/dp/B00009RAX4

So how come the NFC sensor is in the middle of the screen?
And there is a bezel that varies from about 2mm to 5mm in width on the front face that isn't metal.
Is the back of the watch module metal or painted plastic? I'm not willing to scratch it to find out.

The back of the watch module is definitely metal.
Anyway, incredibly enough, Sony Italy has replied to me, saying that the watch is all metal but that metal get scratched too.
I replied posting a pic of the scratched part, let's see if they deny it again.

That is shocking! It is obvious it is plastic just by feel (and tapping it) without even scratching it I cannot believe they would try and deny it....
Anyway, had mine for about a week now and haven't scratched it just yet but I have knocked it a couple of times and panicked, mine screen protectors haven't arrived yet.

They eventually (after I posted the pic) admitted the part around the core unit is "high quality plastic".
I wonder, if this is high quality, something low quality would have fallen off the watch just by looking at it.
They told me to bring it to service under warranty, and I think I'll do that just if they let me keep the core unit (I have 2 spare bands).
When I have the time, I'll send it in and keep you posted (even though I think I'll end up with nothing, since it was my mistake).

We have all seen the JRE scratch test video, and most of us have read Corning's response, but what is the real world scratch resistance?
When I was picked up my phone I noticed the display model had a few small scratches, so I tried to make more. I used both a penny (mohs of about 3) and a Swiss-Key stainless steel (mohs of about 5.5) keyring knife to try my best to scratch the screen, but I couldn't cause a single scratch. So why was JRE able to scratch with the level 3 pick, why did the display model already have scratches, and why couldn't I cause more?
I have tried a few different screen protectors and none of them stay down with a case, but before I take it off I want to know how safe it is.
For those of you with no screen protector, who has gotten a scratch, who hasn't, and how do you store your phone (pocket, purse, granite counter face down?)?
Using mine naked, zero scratches. I did almost have a heart attack when on day 3 it slipped out of my shorts pocket (I was wearing those loose basketball shorts and should not have had it in my pocket when I sat down, I knew this about those shorts) in my car and slid in between the seat and the seat belt anchor (which is metal!). I fully expected to have a nice, big scratch on it when I slowly and carefully retrieved it, but nope! Not a mark. Lucky I'm sure, but nonetheless I haven't had any scratch issues and it's been a full week at this point.
Full week here, had a case to protect the phone but no screen protectors. No scratches to report, front or back.
Full week here as well. No screen protector (First time in years and my anxiety levels are VERY high) and switching between two Spigen cases daily. No scratches at all. Also got a Slickwraps skin coming in soon, so it should add a bit more protection.
Using a case on the back but the front is naked, no scratches at all and i work construction. Constant dust and debris, if my gands are too dirty I use the iris scanner and s pen to use the screen to avoid any abrasions. Not a single mark....not even a light one. I think GG5 is holding up pretty nicely. Phone is in and out of a no doubt dusty pocket all the time and nothing.
It's nice to read such comments I was a bit concerned about GG5... but I think I will buy the Samsung screen protector anyway ^^ (That is not a tempered glass protector btw)
P.s. I don't have a Note 7 yet, but will buy one next yearm (Exynos - Hungary)
I'm very glad to see that so many have no scratches. Especially coming from a construction worker! I think the entire thing was kind of blown out for a phone that hadn't been released to the public yet. I may never go back to a screen protector if I can't find a tempered glass with adhesive all over.
yes, i work in construction and it can be quite dusty at times. i clean my device when i get home with a micro fiber cloth to see if anything happens, in and out of my pocket, finger use, etc. absolutely nothing. i'm not sure what the deal was with that video, but i'm going to have to go and side with corning on their conclusions. after a week of heavy use so far and different conditions, clean, dirty, i haven't even received a micro abrasion. i'm happy, it's a beautiful device and the glass seems fine...its almost 900 bucks people, handle with care lol
Well, there was a guy on Reddit warning people about the back of the stylus putting scratches on his device.

So did you give it a few swipes with the knife and coin? This is pretty interesting. I hope it turns out more scratch resistant than we think.

More than a few swipes. I took the edge of the penny and pressed hard against the glass, then moved it in small circles and then back and forth, all while maintaining pressure. Not like crack the glass pressure, but more pressure than the phone can apply with its own weight on an object. I did the same thing with the swiss key (Google "swiss key 6 in 1 knife" if you are curious what I am referring to) and once again no scratches. I tilted the screen to look at the reflections and ensure that not even faint scratches were left. The big "but" is that there were already a couple scratches on the screen, so in the week they had it up as a display model SOMETHING had to have scratched it.
Check out this lovely shot from my local T-Mobile. I didn't really notice this on any other phone.

I think I am going to stop by my local sprint store to see how their phone is holding up!
Wonder what caused those particular scratches? Sliding the metal clamp on?
I have a few scratches on mine even after babying it , when it gets gritty I'll wash it off in water shake the water off then hit it with the micro fiber and still managed to get tiny barely visible scratches . you would have to turn the screen at a certain angle for you to be able to see them but they are there ???
No case yet, full week of use and no scratches.
But she's to slippery for me to continue using without a case so I will be putting one on soon when it arrives
I lied in the poll
The screen is softer. Sure some metals will not scratch it, but sand will hand down ruin this phone. Be smart and get a cover for the front and back
I just put one a glass screen protector. Took about 2 hours for it to finally settle. Seems good so far. Box says it has 9H for hardness.

If you're using tap water, it's damaging the oleophobic coating. Tap water is full of hard substances including calcium. Ever seen what an old sink looks like? The tap water alone can be the issue.

I bet even the case guys will have scratches on the back of their phones on the edges. My front screen is hokding up fine, back (on a case) already has scratches.

I'm on the fence with a lot of these claims of having scratches and how people got them. To me, "babying it" and "when it gets gritty" don't go together at all. You baby it, but it gets dirty to the point where you have to wash it off?
For the record, I have mine in a Spigen case covering the back and naked on the front. I've been extra paranoid due to all the scratch hype, so I'm careful to keep it in empty pockets and not lay it face down on any hard surfaces. No scratches yet. Fingers crossed.
Hello S8 & S8+ owners,
In search for a good screen protector we almost tried everything available at the market, the favorite for me so far was the one from Spigen as it is compatible with almost all the covers you can purchase, but it's life is short and get a lot of marks and scratches over the days
So i decided to try the Official Screen Protector

The Package has 2 screen protectors, once you hold it you can feel that it's a hybrid between film and tempered glass, it's hard and flexible at the same time
If you are used to apply the old film screen protector using a credit card pushing the air at same time you applying the screen protector you will get a great result, no one at the youtube videos managed to apply it with the lowest amount of air bubbles
something great about it that the air bubbles fade away within one or two days , i guess it has also a self healing mechanism because while i was trying to force the air bubbles out of it there was a lines or scratches under it but its all gone now and it's very clear
it's touch is nice and you can feel that your finger is sliding on it , very close to the original glass
It's a little bit thick so Samsung called it for External Shock and i guess it will do a good job regarding the minor shocks.
The thing i don't like about it that it's not compatible with spigen cases or any other case that cover a part of screen , it works very fine with covers like Nillkin Frosted Shield
I guess it's the best option available there if you use your phone without cover or with a very slim cover and i guess it will be compatible with Samsung original covers but i don't have any to try
This actually looks good, shame it isn't case friendly.
I've had this on for about a month. Best option I've come across so far. I just trimmed the top and bottom about ⅛" before installing so it wouldn't interfere with cases

Hello,
does the original screen protector any good? i ask because i have one in my phone and it´s already 2 little marks on the screen protector. Most of the time i use the s view stand cover and the LED cover, and a few times the silocone cover.
I thought this screen protector was a against little scratches, but as far as i can see it´s not like that. i don´t belive this is so strong as samsung claim

I bought the Ounier Full Coverage Bubble-Free Screen Protector as it was one of the first brands to come up when searching for screen protectors for Samsung Galaxy S9. My phone is fairly new and I needed to have it fully protected first before I include it in my busy daily routine. I’m the kind of person who chooses convenience over price, but as this product was recommended by a friend (for his S8), I gave it a chance. Besides, It’s really great that the pack has 2 screen protectors; the easier to change, the better. I’ve also had bad experiences with other screen protectors for my old phones as they sometimes hinder with some of the phone’s features, like the double tap, the sensors, etc. Since my friend can’t recall any troubles at all with this protector, this eased my mind a bit with what it had to offer.
I’ve always admired how my friend’s phone looked so seamless and smooth, it always fooled me thinking that his screen protector came with the phone when he purchased it. To my surprise, he installed it himself. Now I’m not a bad friend, but this guy can get excruciatingly stupid at times. I thought if someone as dense as him had managed to somehow not mess up with wet installation, how hard can it be?
I got the screen protectors, a squeegee, a tiny piece of cloth, a manual, and a small bottle spray solution. I’m the old-fashioned type, I never even knew that “wet installation” is actually a thing if not for my buddy. All these items looked so weird to me. I’ll never understand how people come up with this stuff but if it works, then it's fine with me.
The installation was a bit hard for me. Even with my old phones that had the typical stick-on screen protectors, I always have someone else do it or have it pre-installed before I buy the phone. Still, I’m really just doing this task because I was inspired by my friend, and I wanted to rise up to the challenge.
Upon getting ready, I tried to clean the phone. I realized I forgot to put some solution on the cloth, that’s why I was struggling to really make the phone dust-free. Reading through the instructions, I can’t believe how wet my phone would be while doing this. I mean, is it really supposed to be like that? Watching a video I found online helped me clear up the confusion. It really is a sloppy process.
I tried keeping the screen protector down when I already applied the solution. I think I put too much of the solution which made everything slide where I didn’t want them to. I was getting impatient and thinking I can start over with the second protector. Luckily, the squeegee worked wonders. It was so satisfying to watch the bubbles go away while I was clearing them. What bothered me though, is the edges took some time to stick to the screen. I needed to press the edges down with my palm repeatedly until it stuck into place. My friend suggested to let the film set for at least 5-10 minutes so it would stick and using a hairdryer can really come in handy as it won't adhere if it is too wet, especially on the edges.
I almost messed up too when I failed to align the corners where they should be (camera, sensors, speakers). Good thing was that the screen protector kept moving around. Just be careful not to press down with the squeegee too hard as the film stretches quite easily. You wouldn’t want a deformed screen protector, of course. If you’re having trouble clearing the bubbles, take your time.
Once looking crisp and free from air bubbles, I left it for a solid 30 minutes to sit. I went back to it to make sure I had all sides pressed firmly down. Thinking I was done at last, the manual said it’s important to leave it for a few hours. It was also stated that the bubbles will gradually disappear as soon as the moisture underneath the film completely dried up. It might take overnight or a day for some but bottom line is just trust the manufacturer that it would work. I impatiently left it overnight and checked it at the crack of dawn.
Here comes the testing part. There were no swiping and tapping issues after placing the film. I was also worried that rainbow colors will be visible since it was a wet installation, but there were none! I don't know if it's a bad idea but I intentionally scratched it with my nails to see if it would leave a mark. The following day, the scratch was still there but already faded and was hardly noticeable. I was amazed and I’m counting on it to make my phone look brand new for a long time.
Translucent, sleek, sexy — that’s exactly how my phone screen looked. I almost feel bad that I underestimated the installation part as I almost wanted to throw the first screen protector I used. If done correctly and patiently, you will have a premium looking phone. Don’t rush it if you don’t want to regret it. So for you guys who are afraid of the “wet installation”, give it a try. It was a bit difficult for me, but I’ll do it again if it means maintaining the high quality of my Samsung Galaxy S9. And besides, the S9
