Phone freezing at boot after chainfire install. - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Hey guys, I just installed calkulin's 1.5 rom and if I install chainfire it freezes at the gs2 screen. Anyone have any ideas?

Is there a way for me to get a log or something when I try to install?

i had the same problem. i just left it alone on gs2 for over 5 mins and it booted properly. it could be different with your phone, iam not sure why this happened.

Thanks that worked. Took like 10 though.

This is happening to mine as well with Caulkins 1.5a. By leaving it alone for 5 or 10 you mean install it, download the Chainfire's drivers, install the Nvidia Drivers and leave it alone for 5 to 10 minutes then boot? Just wondering. I love that app. Thanks.

I realized what was making mine bug out. I would have the default driver on Nvidia and that kept making it go into a loop. I set the default to none and just use the per app option on games that need the specific driver. Phone's working like a charm.

VERY slow boot, but phone works fine.

I have a rooted Incr2 Verizon, with stock gingerbread 2.3.3 and a host of apps, including ROM Manager Pro and Titanium Backup Pro.
Boot time from pushing the button to the start screen is 125 seconds! Fastboot is even turned on.
Any idea what might be going on that takes the phone over two minutes to boot? Once up and running, everything is fine.

From a cold boot (battery pulled), that seems to be about what I see. Fastboot allows it to boot faster as it doesn't start from scratch so reboots are usually a lot faster.
There's not much you can do to speed it up other than have less bloat started when you boot.
I don't think 125 seconds is bad. You phone is a computer, is it not? how long does it take for your PC to boot?
I wouldn't be to concerned. I'm running AOSP (miui) & mine booted in 58secs.

Random Reboot Issue

Was wondering if anyone had the same problem as me/a solution..
My T-Mobile S2 randomly reboots itself once a day at least when left idle. Not rooted. Bone stock rom, about 33 user apps installed that never gave me problems on my other phones (Nexus One, HD2)
I read something about SD cards causing the issue, so I formatted mine from the phone and threw it back in, still happening.
I can give a list of my apps if it would help, other than that I did notice one other thing.. I use the google news & weather widget that came with the phone, and I set it not to auto refresh. After it reboots, and I don't have background data on, the widget doesn't load (this is how I know it's actually rebooting if I wake up to it) so maybe it's related to that somehow?
Any input is appreciated.
I have the same issue after I rooted my phone and I install the Juggernaut 2.5

Sometimes my phone has gotten wonky on time usually as a result of battery swaps. happened even prior to my rooting.
All i needed to do was toggle off/on the Auto time set feature and it resets as it should.
All most over slept one morning because I for got to check the time after a battery swap prior to going to bed. Phone is my main alarm clock.
Just go to settings then under system go to date and time and then set the time yourself.

Did you try clearing cache and dalvik?

Samsung has introduced a qualcomm time service that might be responsible for weird time behavior. I know on my phone it can be off by up to two minutes, so what I did was disable this from running. If you're rooted, you can either disable it in titanium/application settings/adb OR just remove the application from /system/app/TimeService.apk

Phone keeps rebooting (even in safe mode)

So this is exactly what I did before the problem started happening. I was on version 7/15 and I went to the recovery and flashed the 6/10 version and cleared dalvik and cache and then fix permissions. When I booted up, it acted normal for a few seconds and then it started happening. It would start freezing and then get that and shut off. I flashed 7/15 again and the problem still occurred. I cleared ktweaker data too...
Please help, I didn't backup my room (it's on my pc and I'm on vacation) I'm using my brothers phone.
I had to wipe everything and start over. Flashing ROM and everything.

It's not the phone. It's ROM and kernel related.

I think it sounds exactly like what was happening to me. I will try to do what you did and remove my SD card next time it happens. I only seem to get that issue when im updating the kernel on Touchwiz ROMS, and on first boot it works ok for like 5 minutes and then the crazy lag, freezing then reboot loops start. From there every boot gets the freezing and lag within a minute of booting up and its either completely freezing up or rebooting itself over and over. The only way i figured i could get over it was doing a full wipe and re install my ROM and everything all over again on a clean install if i wanted to update the kernel. Definately going to try pulling the SD Card and see if that solves my issues next time it happens.

Did you debloat at all? Like delete system apps? I feel there are system level apps that i deleted and the ROM is trying to utilize them but it can't so it reboots. Cause if you look at the last_kmsg there aren't any kernel panics in it.

Yeah that's exactly what happened to me! When my phone would freeze, it would get extremely hot and just stay on the screen/or the screen would turn off and I couldn't turn it back on
Not sure what the SD card has to do with anything but I removed it before I booted back up! If it happens again to you, then good luck I hope it fixes it!

Random Restarts, logcat attached

I have been experiencing random restarts. Sometimes on facebook. Sometimes on gallery. A few times while placing a call, receiving a call, reading a text message. This has happened across multiple ROMS, all TW based, with several kernels. Can someone help me find out what is going on? I have the complete logcat for about 1/2 hour worth of messing around trying to get it to freeze if needed. But I see a lot of errors here, so I think the problem should be able to be identified from this. I stopped the logcat during the boot up process after it crashed.
Thanks
Need to post the last_kmsg found under /proc directory. Don't shorten it either.

I have manually restarted since. I think this is the last_kmsg from the last time it crashed before the one that the logcat is from. Not 100% sure though.

Its gonna have to be one RIGHT AFTER IT rebooted itself. Otherwise, it gets re-written. So wait till it reboots by itself, and boots back up, grab the last_kmsg.

So, I assume that is not the correct last_kmsg that I posted? I don't remember if that one was taken right after the crash or not....but ill keep messing around and post again when it crashes again.

Mine started locking up on me. And I would have to do a battery pull to start it. It only happens when I talk to my wife on her galaxy 3 , oh and I get Her calls on hd voice. Maybe that has something to do with it. I'm running wicked 5.1
