Okay, I know this phone gets jabbed at a lot, and I'm not the first person to request a mod for it. I get it, people mod popular and better spec phones, I'm just looking for an answer and a bit of reasoning behind it.
All I want, is someone to mod the Motorola Charm, and do nothing else but allow Apps2SD. How feasible is this and what kind of effort would it take?
Thanks in advance for the educational replies.

Idk if this is the right section, but my question is, I have the t-mobile tp2 and I was wondering if all the tweaks and other things on this site will work with my version of it. Also how to get cracked programs and games? I know on the Iphone you jailbrake it also how do I get the clock like everyone else has and the backgrounds?

Dude,
In answer to your question, yes the tweaks will work with your phone. What you need to do it spend some serious time reading. There is a lot on this site and it should take you a while just reading before you ever actually do anything. Unfortunately for you, most people will not tell you how to do it, you need to read up on it for yourself so that you learn how it is done. There is a seriously big difference between someone just showing you how to do it and you researching it on your own. To be honest, that is the best way to do it since you will also learn a lot more about what can be done just through reading the threads. Good luck, and happy reading.
Speed...
I've already read about 40 pages of things to do with the phone, if I was some hardcore enthusiast then yeah I would go that route, but unlike others I just want my phone to look nice and perform well and have stuff others dont have.
Welcome to forums,
Then just read this one:

Good luck and enjoy!
We are all flashing these ROMs, one after another, yet I have read little about security. How sure can we be that those who are making these ROMs are not adding a little something extra for themselves? Is it possible that this could happen without users knowing?
Please DO NOT make the assumption that I am trying to cast doubt on any of those who cook the ROMs we use, mostly without any compensation, as I appreciate their work as much as anyone here. I think that the question being asked is completely fair. I am asking because I do not yet have the technical ability to tell for myself nor would I know what someone who wanted to know would look for. Please keep this in mind if you choose to respond.
Thanks!
What makes you think HTC didnt add something extra?

The fantastic ROM´s made by our great Chefs here at XDA are much better than any "official" ROM
I feel even safer with cooked ROM´s on my devices
Thank to this work (XDA, Chefs & Devs) is that WM is an enjoyable OS!
If not a lot of us would have moved to another platform...
I also agree!!! Cooked ROMs are great to use......However you need to do some reading to have them as per your requirements.
Good question

Actually, that's an interesting question and whilst I doubt there are any chefs contributing on XDA with the mindset of compromising any user's confidentiality, I have no doubt in my mind that it's possible for a dishonest individual to have a crack, so to speak.
Some time ago, an XDA contributer (chetstriker) wrote an application called 'Phone Creeper', which whilst having many useful functions for the user, also sparked some controversy for its trojan-style capabilities. Just to give an example, Phone Creeper could theoretically be 'cooked' into a ROM and used against the handset owner, without their knowledge.
I'm sure there are many more possibilities to compromise security, and as diligent members, we should research a ROM thread before flashing willy-nilly. It's quite easy to get a feel for any chef's credibility based on their history and following.
I think that the short answer for you is... we dont REALLY know. Only a small percentage of people here understand the underlying details and complexities of a ROM.
So yes, theoretically, a chef cook put in 'stuff' which has evil uses.
But...
1) Almost all (if not all) chefs on XDA cook their ROM's because they love doing so. its not as if anyone is making any real money cooking these ROM's.
2) Its not as if phones could be used in some denial of service or mass spamming or whatever attack like drone computers. Maybe if you had THOUSANDS of phones, but in reality, the number of people installing these customs ROM's on their phones is a small fraction of the phone user population.
3) Most chefs care very deeply about the quality of their product. If anyone even so much as suspected something fishy going on, well, that would be the end of anyone using that ROM.
The Surgeon General has determined that cooked ROMs do not cause cancer and no animals were injured in their development.
As with anything there are allways risks involved.
It would not be difficult at all for a chef to cook spyware or worse into their roms.
It would be simple to compromise someones system in this manner and any amount of detail could be obtained by someone who wished to do so.
As with everything, your own due-dilligence and common sense come into play here. You download software all the time from the Net without knowing for sure if there is spyware or trojans embedded within that software.
If you are that concerned then I suggest that you clue yourself up on how the chefs cook and what to look for in the roms to identify these issues for yourself.
There are plenty of WinMo AV products that can help minimise the risks to your system being compromised and there are many steps you yourself can take. The first being to undertsnad the rom structure and the nature and working of WinMo.
Identify legitimate services and processes and have an understanding of the registry.
There are many "trusted" sources here in the forums but there is always a bad "apple" too (I like that pun.... Iphone is a good example of a bad apple )
Common sense always prevails, this is a community whereby we all share our knowledge and understanding of all things WinMo and HTC, read the forums, ask questions and gain your own knowledge therby making you capable of making your own judgements instead of asking others to make them for you
Cheers,
Beasty
Another reassurance is that most chefs look at other chefs ROM's (especially the bigger more popular ROMs). If anyone on here, be it another chef, or a techy user trying to debug an issue, noticed anything untoward, that would be the end of the Chef on xda and anywhere else they posted.
Regards,
Dave

I haven't looked at the phone creeper thread in a while, but last time I did, a person would have needed the number of the device it was on before it could be utilized against them.
As this is my first post i hope i have been lurking long enough to know how not to get flamed...here goes...lol
I'm wondering if it would be a good idea after I downgrade, to manual root and unlock nand, so i know how everything works, then after i get that taken care of run unrevoked forever to get permanent s-off then flash my chosen recovery back to the phone.
Anyone see any real issues doing this?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Obviously you haven't lurked long enough to know that it's a bad idea to title a thread so vaguely.
But since we're here, I'll chime in. Isn't that all of what you'd be doing anyway? Kinda like asking, "After I cut this guy open and remove his appendix, is there any harm to sewing him back up afterward?"
In short: No. That is exactly the right thing to do. And rooting "by hand" is my personal recommendation anyway, for exactly the reasoning you provided.
Yeah i realized about the title when i read it in the thread list...
Thanks for the input, thats pretty much what i figured. I just wanted to get the opinion of someone that has more experience than i do .
This forum has been awesome at teaching me how to do certain tasks I couldn't previously have ever done with android.
I mean, honestly. I play with tech all the time, but I never really got in depth with ANYTHING until coming here, and I never really posted anything.
So here's to all the devs. Keep up the good work guys! I hope I can get good at this and help you in any way I can.

Has anyone found any tutorial videos on how to root, install custom recovery(TWRP looks tough to be entirely honest) and custom roms?
It always boosts my confidence to see someone successfully installing custom things.
Also I have never used LG products and have no idea how to do basic things such as getting in recovery etc. I have experience with samsung phones but nothing other than this:/ Would anyone be kind enough to redirect me or make some tutorial videos:$?
Kind regards
Also if you are interested please show your support to this topic

There are highly detailed and step-by-step guides on how to do it on the board. You know they work by people saying that it did and the lack of threads freaking out that their device is thrashed. Please be thankful for what you've got and just read what we put together.

Wow. I do not understand your negativity, this would only help newer users like me and keep people like you having less to critisize. As for the detailed guides which you mention either I have not stumbled across them(in which case you could point out but you dont seem to want to help from your initial responce) or we have a different understanding of detailed step by step guides.
Either way if you do not want to help I suggest not responding and being thankful that you have the option to cary on with your schedule, reading what you feel is more important.
Thank you for stopping by and pointing out your opinion

Can you point me out to your reading resources? I looked in the sections having a difficult time understanding how to install twrp recovery and later on how to get in recovery(button combo)

As far as resources it mainly comes from doing this a bunch and reading the thread, the way I did it was different than the twrp thread in a couple ways, I'll explain in a bit

Just do research instead of asking others to provide you with videos. If you learn it yourself and learn the ins and outs, it'll benefit you greatly when something inevitably goes wrong and you can figure it out yourself instead of relying heavily on others. As you move step by step in the guides, if something doesn't make sense to you, just Google it. It's not hard when you get used to doing it. Not trying to be mean or rude, but if you don't want to help yourself, we can't help you.

i will give him one thing though there is a pretty vital command missing in the twrp thread to get it to execute, or at least from how I did it on every other device
here is a link to a video on how to access recovery via the 3 button method.
I recorded it with my phone so I am sorry/not sorry about the quality but it gets the job done.
also i can relate with you on wanting to see it visually, even as somebody who knows what they are doing, especially things involving button combo's I have a harder time reading than if i just saw a 30 second video on how to do it.
http://youtu.be/uo3YfszOPsQ
as for the recovery flash that's a little more involved and i already have my device rooted so if i did it, it would be from CM, and i'm not entirely sure if that would cause a problem (i don't think so though because loki is cool like that)

Dude get over it you seem to have far too much time on your hands.
I didnt ask for anyone to make videos i asked if anyone knew of any videos. Since you didnt want to help or still dont get off the bloody topic. There is no point of doing what you did. If you wonna be arrogant im sure you have friends and family for that. Im fed up with your negativity. If you didnt want to be rude you could of just said im sorry i dont like sharing or helping noobs and moved on.
Thank you for annoying me 2day I wish you well. And when you get stuck on something and require other peoples help on a FORUM They all redirect you to google so you understand what a joke your responce is.
Ps didnt mean to be rude. But if you didnt know the meaning of a forum now you do.

I will repeat again.i did not ask for anyone to go out of their way and make videos i asked if anyone found videos. That by no means says i am not greatful for the small and perfect video you made. Rooting seems to be very easy its the recovery that I am having doubts about cause it seems to be a lengthy procedure. And requires what seems to be a ton of commands
