EI22 with 3g on the Dropdown bar - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've searched and have yet to find a drop down bar where you can toggle 3g on EI22.
It's been a feature I've been after for a while but has never been available on my phone's build.
If anyone has made one, please share.
If someone wants a project, I would be most appreciative if you took this up.
Or if someone knows where I can go to get one, that would be great.
I'm using Marcusants ACS Rom, currently version 5.0 but he updates so fast!

There's not one in the drop down bar as far as I know, but it's listed in the power off pop up as "data network mode".

Obviously I'm forced to use the power switch or some kind of custom widget to control 3g and it's not that big of a deal.
However I've seen customized drop bars that either add the 3g toggle to the existing 5 buttons making 6 or they replace the mute/vibrate button with the 3g.
I'm open to either but prefer the latter if possible because the drop bar becomes a kind of antenna control center.

I agree on replacing the virate feature with the 3g toggle it would be more efficient.

I'd vote to replace the 4G toggle. I never mess with 4G, except to mess/play around, in which case I'd rather go through the menu to find that.

I'm trying to figure out why ya'll are "voting." Wait for maddoggins lockmod port to EI22, it has customizable/scrollable toggles

Thanks for the heads up zanderman. I didn't know a solution was in the works. Hopefully it comes out soon and marcusant has fine tuned his gb rom so my phone will really be epic.

whatabout the data network toggle in the power menu. same thing no?

How about a port of the miui status bar

that was already mentioned in the post ... this isn't because I can't find the 3g toggle, just a personal preference.

I haven't encountered MIUI before, but I'm guessing it might have what I'm after. In any case that would be great.
Any links for what it looks like marcusant?

you need to push your eri.xml file back, the theme overwrites it because it's made for a gsm device. search eri.xml if you can't find it pm me I will do a guide tomorrow. at a halloween party right now.

Ah...well never used it...but throwing it out there, there isn't an option in the display/interface settings to disable it?
Nope anyone know how to take it off?

if you can find a stock deodexed ROM you could replace the framework from that one and push it into your new one using ninjamorph, did you try pusing a blank widget.txt to see what that does? otherwise you would have to find one that has all of that removed, plus any theme etc your trying to run updates the framework.apk so your kinda stuck i think

There are instructions on how to customize these in the Power Control Widgets thread.
if your issue is that you dont want it to have 4g you can easily modify the widget.txt file and change it up there are a lot of options. If you are trying to remove it You may look int he EVIO rom thread Calk has a flashable zip to remove it from EVIO. it should work for any rom in theory since Evio isnt themed and neither is SL it shoudlnt effect much else. i would nandroid just in case though.

[Q] Pulldown bar customization and disappearance CM7

I just flashed CM7 and it's working great. I'm just wondering if cm7 still has pulldown bar customization where I can put different toggles in. I've looked around in the settings and I just can't seem to find it. Also, I went to sleep after flashing the rom and I woke up to not having any toggle switches there.. they just kind of disappeared.. anyone know what would have caused that??? Thanks.
Ps. I tried to upload an image, but I'm new so it won't let me yet. Heh.

Voltage Control and Pull Down Bar

Hi all,
I am running SFR 1.1.1 and I was wondering if anyone can let me know if you have had problems with Voltage Control resetting to default figures. I am having to redo my VC settings at least every other day. Is this a known issue?
Secondly, is there a way to change the buttons on the notification pulldown (mine has wifi, bluetooth, vibration. 4G, GPS). I don't have 4G in my area so would like to change that to 3G so I can toggle my data on/off.
Thanks in advance!

On Voltage Control, after you have your settings, are you pressing the menu softkey and selecting "set on boot"? That will make your settings stick but. If you are undervolting, make sure your setup is good and stable. As far as changing the 4G icon, that's something a themer would have to answer.

It probably has to do with editing an xml and redirecting the controls of the toggles. Purely guessing though.
Posted by Mr. Z's Epic 4G.
That's a start. I'll double check. Thank you sir!
Its probably a lot more work then you think... you would have to add images and make an xml call for them and then have the xml tell your phone to toggle 3g... I'm a themer (not supr experianced) and I don't know how completey... ill look into it more when I have a cmputor again. But no promises.

Screen brightness shortcut missing on SGS3. Here is an alternative

One thing I definitely miss on SGS3 coming from SGS1 and SGS2 was the ability to change the brightness setting from from the top of the notification bar. You were able to slide your finger left to right and be able to change the screen brightness.
I found an app called Display brightness that can do something similar and thought I'd share as I am sure a few of you might also miss the old feature. You can set a screen brightness slider anywhere on the screen and change its transparency. It works a treat to be able to change brightness quickly and efficiently.
Here is the link on Google Play if you want to check it out
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rubberbigpepper.DisplayBrightness
Gonna check it out, thanks
Holy crap that is awesome! Works on AT&T gs3. Thank you so much for pointing this out. Have to play with where I want it tho because it can interfere with the keyboard

Yeah its the best I've been able to find so far. Not sure why Sammy removed it from this phone but the app works. Finding a good spot to place it is key

Feel kinda dumb right now, I see the indicator but how do I actually change the brightness?
Edit: I guess the bar was too thin. Once I made it thicker I was able to adjust it. Thanks guys
International version just got an OTA update that includes a brightness slider in the notification pull down. As well as adjustments to the minimum brightness for auto brightness
just tried this, and it is pretty awesome!
If you set all the transparencies to 0%, it works exactly like the stock s2 slider...except you can put this on any side you want. The key is figuring out where exactly to slide your fingers to get it to work consistently, but once you do its pretty awesome.
AAAA+++ Sweet!
very nice find. Works perfect.

Glad a few of you are finding it useful ! I still wish Samsung didn't remove it and not sure why they did. Every now and then I hit the brightness line by accident so I might try and put it in a different area of the screen to see which is the best place. That's the only tricky part. It is a nice app though as an alternative.

Hopefully we get it in us versions of the international just got an update with the feature back on the notification, maybe they forgot about it

Oh nice I didn't know that. I had the international for a week until I sold to try the LTE and just know it wasn't there on either. Also on my sgs2 one of the newer firmwares removed it as well a figured it was intentional and too much trouble to add it. I hope you're right

Can anyone confirm if the OTA updates on some of the American carriers added the brightness slider in notification bar like the update did on i9300? Or did the update only remove universal search ?

there is actually already code in the tw_status_bar_extended.xml for this. it just isn't active. i noticed it when i was poking around there for my theme.
Just download notification toggles app free from the market it has a ton of options. Will solve the brightness toggle issue plus you can add short cuts to apps, reboot menu and a bunch more.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle
Awesome app! I almost hope that the brightness slider doesn't get added to the notifications window...there's already a lot up there.
It seems some on i9300 forums are not liking the brightness slider added in a release and some are requesting devs to remove from roms. I'll keep this app for now as I think its great

I dont believe its actually on the pulldown.. in previous tw versions you just slide across the status bar to the right to go up and down.. i may be wrong about the new brightness alider though.

This is really great. It's really convenient to set all the transparency settings to "0%" and hiding the slider at the bottom of the homescreen - just slide above the home button to adjust the brightness!
Edit: It works on the lockscreen too - wow!
