i just bought desire hd about 4 days ago
for the first time i tried to connect desire hd to my wifi connection at my home it works great
but next day in the morning i tried several times to connect my desire hd to home wifi and it never show "connected" status ,desire hd keep looping "obtaining ip" then "disconnected" again and again
and finally i tried to factory reset and connect to my wifi again ,and the result is same keep looping "obtaining ip" then "disconnected" again and again
i googled it and try the solution and still not work
what should i do ?
it software problem or hardware problem ?

Try assigning a static ip (settings - wireless - WiFi settings - hit menu key and choose advanced)

clear data from your phone, remove all your remembered networks and reboot...enjoy!

really2 frustating isnt it
I had the same problem a couple of days ago. The phone kept reconnecting to the router. Now this happened during an arctic blizzard and only for a few minutes. I had the impression it was a temporary hang up in the ADSL modem that made the router "hang" waiting for connection outwards. The problem disappeared by it self so I didn't get around to troubleshooting but I'd probably have tried re-setting the wired connection, re-setting the wi-fi router & then scanning for a new WiFi connection. But, as mentioned above, it is only a guess.

Any solution to this, getting the exact same issue, just been seraching the forum for help, and your thread is the only real one ive found with the same issues.
Was out the country the other day , and in a bar trying to conect to there free wifi,
found the network instantly, just got stuck saying "obtaing address" then after a few mins, changed to network available and the wifi said disconected.
Now im home having the same issues, tho eventually it conected to my home network, i switched off the wifi and on again and just cant get it to conect again!
This is a big issue, as really need the wifi to work.
btw, mines factory 2.2 rom, no rooting etc build no 1.39.110.1

I have a problem with the wifi connection of my desire hd.
The desire hd shows "connected" status and obtains an ip adress.
But when i try to visit a website, it takes a while and then get an error "server communication failed. try again later"
I already did a factory reset and yesterday i did a rom update to Android 2.2.1

i had same problem with wifi connect
i check connection in system infomation
i saw the connections is UDP not TCP
so every internet connect is error
after i turn off wifi and restart the connect will be ok
this problem start after update 2.2.1

I had a similar issue with my Orange BB Router, where some things would work and others not, and some things very intermittent.
In the end I used my old sky router as the wireless access point and this seemed to solve the problem, so i assume it was a router issue rather than a phone issue. I've not had any problems since.

Exactly the same problem here.
I've tried flashing a custom rom (ARHD), and changing different radios and they all don't work.
Hi im running the destroyer rom on cm7 rc2 and my phone can detect and connect to wifi spots but as soon I go into the browser I get the no internet connection message...is anubody else having the same problem or know a way to fix it?

I had the same problem where it would show wifi and 3g at the same time, but no internet. I tried turning the hot spot on for a few seconds then off. And then manually disconnecting from the wifi, then reconnecting to it. I seem to not be having those problems anymore. Hope it helps.
It was working fine and suddenly i checked it and its not connected at all anymore it just connects to hspa. When i go into wifi settings it shows my normal router connection but it says that its disconnected and the signal strength is poor then it cycles between disconnected and connecting but never does. Ive tried toggling wifi off and on and restarted my phone a few times and still nothing. My laptop is still connected fine aswell so idk or think its my router... and when i "forget" the network in the setting it picks up the router as 3-4 full bars yet when i try to connect it goes to just one bar and says poor signal strength im stumped! and im just rooted but nothing no rom no kernal nothing is or has been installed. So any help will be greatly appreciated!

Got the same problem on my nexus 7. I've been looking through xda, and it looks like mostly galaxy nexus users have this problem. I haven't found a fix yet either.

I'm running stock unrooted now since the 4.3update.
I noticed now that I cannot connect to wifi routers without an Internet connection..
I race rc cars and we have an app. That pulls results from a laptop via wifi... When I attempted to connect I get an error "network connection disabled because Internet is slow" all other Android users can connect including other gs3... I just tried at home to get the same error. If I pull the phone line same error. So it appears I cannot connect to networks that don't have Internet connections..
This is a problem I never had before going official ota Rom...
Is there a setting I should look for in settings that maybe off?

Might have discovered the solution.. Won't be able to test till next Wednesday tho. There is setting called Auto network switch...

I am on latest MM. Whenever I connect to a wifi hotspot, the wifi got connected and disconnected after every 30 seconds or so. There is nothing wrong with the wifi hotspot. The problem is with the phone. Some one please help.

Tested today with my classmate's wifi hotspot: it works...
Did you try a factory reset after the update?
