I got the Apk for the gallery app but when I try to install it I get a message saying it will overwrite a system app. Should I do this or do I need to be rooted with google services running to access this app? Will it even work needing to be logged in to a google account?
root and you can use paid titanium backup to switch it with a system app.

Asking if anyone else has run into this issue.
I back up the Amazon App store and the apps that came with it. I then proceed to wipe, flash new rom. Using Titanium back up I restore all the apps in addition to the Amazon App Store. I launch the app store and it asks me to log in. Afterwards I see a list of all the apps I downloaded and have installed. I try to launch any of them and it basically tells me I don't own the app.
Anyone have any ideas about this?
I just install the appstore w/o restoring data. Login and register the device and then restore my apps.
I'm re flashing the phone and I will try what you said.
That's a no go. I also noticed on the Amazon.com website all the applications I paid for and obtained are not listed on there. I sent them an email so hopefully they can figure it out.
Dumb question, but you are using the correct amazon.com account right?
Hey all,
I am running AOKP 36 and the Google+ app keeps crashing. In the Play store it prompts me to update, but it tells me there is an issue with the signature, and to uninstall the app first. Unfortunately I can't do that because the app came with the ROM.
Can someone help?
It's a system app, and thus can't be removed by conventional methods.
I assume you have Titanium Backup?
You can use it to uninstall.
I prefer using stock after removing bloatware as an app I need works best on stock.
Is there a way to repair google play?
I did not backup stock before removing apps as I planned to back up stock after removing apps as it is a long process.
thanks
First, clear data for the play store.
If that doesnt work, boot into recovery and fix permissions.
If that doesnt work you probably deleted something you shouldnt have, thus find a play store APK somewhere in the Theme/App thread and install from there.

Android Police have mirrored the latest play store apk. You can sideload it to your device.

I just updated to the Rt66 T999UVDMD5.
Everything went nice and dandy. I noticed in the Play store I had the option of uninstalling some TMO apps and Google Play apps.
So I did but when I restarted my phone, the apps I just uninstalled updated and installed again.
I know I can prevent auto-updates but how can I delete these apps permanently?
Can I assume to delete them via Root Explorer?
Yes or disable with Titanium Backup or ROM Toolbox.
Hi, I had disabled the app Samsung Browser stock (SecBrowser.system.apk) using the HiUnistaller app, but when I was going to re enable the app, never was re enabled.
Today I had a problem with the Calendar app (SecCalendar_SPen.apk) being closed all the time and I tried to reinstall it, but nothing.
I got the two apks of the Browser and Calendar, but when I go to install them, said "Application Not Installed".
What can I do to reinstall without flash again the stock ROM?
Thanks!
